A beautiful property with a great beach where our kids (with dilligent supervision) enjoyed swimming in the sea. Very quiet, great rooms, lovely lawns, absolutely fantastic food and service. Super for families with the availability of 2 BR villas etc. The staff will help with absolutely everything and Gihan manages the property fantastically and never says no to anything. Ruwan was on call 24/7 to look after us so brilliantly that I am not sure what we will do without him when we go. Both Gihan and Ruwan have impeccable manners, and know how to be there when you need them. Absolutely brilliant. ||A highly recommended place to stay and we shall be back for sure.

We loved our stay at Taru Villas. Our deluxe room was very well appointed and we enjoyed sitting on the verandah watching the waves roll onto the beach. The food was delicious, pool very refreshing and location peaceful. All of the staff were exceptionally lovely and helpful. Lahiru especially went out of his way to ensure that our stay was wonderful. We can highly recommend a stay here.

The most relaxing beach side holiday ever! We stayed in the lovely Kurumba House within the Taru Villas Mawella complex , with direct access to the beach from the bottom of the garden. The sea was perfect for body boarding (borrowed from Taru Villas) and after spending hours every morning and late afternoon in the sea, we'd jump in Kurumba's private pool at the back to cool off. The Mawella beach is super clean , an endless stretch of jungle fringed sand with virtually no one except us and a few others. Our villa and extensive gardens were kept super clean by what seemed an army of gardening /housekeeping staff, and kudos to our personal butler Ruwan who was always on hand even at mealtimes in the main restaurant to look after us. Talking of which, the breakfasts, especially the Sri Lankan breakfast, was utterly moreish. Meals were in an all white open dining room overlooking the main pool and the sea - what a view to eat to! Gehan, the onsite villa manager runs a tight ship, ensuring impeccable service from all his staff, while handing out useful nuggets of info on excursions (we went to Galle along the coast and also to see the Blowhole) . I'd say that our idyllic beach side stay at Taru (Kurumba House) was the best part of our 2 week holiday in Sri Lanka. Can't wait to return!

A very disappointing visit to Mawalla Tangalle Taru Villas property. While our rooms were comfortable, the anticipated and considered service that we have experienced at many Taru Villa properties before was gone. When we enquired after this we were told that the management had changed but kept the owner/founders name. The gardens, overall design of the property is beautiful however its very clearly not well looked after. A couple of ||- when we arrived there was no greeting, no introduction to room or property. we called our friends who had already arrived||- We had to ask the staff to replenish water in the vases. There was mosquitos breeding in all of them. ||- Drinks/glasses weren't cleared overnight unless we asked ||- Meal requests/Room Service orders were met with - "it will take some time" ||- breakfast (the only meal we had over 2 nights) was so disappointing. Simple, Sri Lankan food was lacking flavour. Tea/Coffee service - awful. ||- The service staff were very obliging, and while they weren't ever rude they have no idea what is going on. ||- The pantry/kitchenette areas in the stand alone villa and pool house had cockroaches. The kettle, caffetiere and coffee cups were not cleaned. The fridge smelled of old food. ||- there was a small snake near the kurumba house pool ||- toiletteries in the bathrooms were empty||||While the property itself is beautiful, the rooms and particularly the service needs careful attention. At almost 300 usd a night this was no villa experience.

My stay at this hotel was mixed. The rooms are well maintained, clean and comfortable. The food is average, nothing special, and the staff service is acceptable, although you can tell they’re doing their best with what they have.||However, the most important thing I want to highlight, and what truly concerns me, is the complete lack of safety measures at the beach. The sea in this area is very dangerous, with strong currents and conditions that can seriously endanger swimmers. There are no visible warnings, no lifeguards, and no safety briefing provided to guests. This is a serious oversight.||The hotel team tries their best, but it is urgent that guests are properly informed about the real risks of swimming in this beach. A simple mistake could be life-threatening.||If you choose to stay here, enjoy the hotel with caution, but avoid swimming in the sea unless clear safety measures and information are provided.

Beautiful and very calm place. Good food and the place very clean. Great butter service. Staff were super supportive. Only negative thing is beds are too small. Spa treatments also very nice

Had the most memorable 2 days of chill and downtime here during a 17 night tour of Sri Lanka. First night in a deluxe sea view room, second night in a villa. Both accommodations were brilliant. The highlight was direct access to Mawella beach, body boarding, dipping in the pool and the quality of the food and service. The breakfast was like no other, freshly made. The Sri Lankan feast was so good, we had it both nights. Having a pool table and other games in a social area was a great touch for the children (and adults to hustle the kids at a game of pool!). As we were here for Poya, we had an extra treat with the new year's festivities! To the staff - keep doing what you are doing, as your service was excellent 👌🏼
