We’re staying at the hotel and booked in because after a long day travelling you don’t really want to go far. We were pleasantly surprised at how great the food is. Everything was on point, looked and tasted fantastic. Our waitress was lovely and very helpful. Comfortable chairs in a restaurant, yay! I ordered the scallops for main served in a delicious light curry sauce and my wife had the Octopus. I had the duck breast for main. Cooked perfectly, pink in middle. My wife said the Tasmanian Salmon was great. I finished with the poached pear. What a great start to our Tassie adventure. Even if you live in Tassie, this is a hidden gem.

I celebrated my anniversary in 2024 at Tasman Restaurant (Grand Chancellor Hobart), and it was truly special! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect setting for a memorable occasion. The service was excellent, and the food was delicious. It made for a perfect celebration, and I would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a great spot to celebrate a special event.

Absolutely outstanding dining experience! From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed, their hospitality made us feel right at home. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, perfect for a lovely dinner with friends or family. What really sets this place apart is their commitment to using the best local Tasmanian produce. Every dish bursts with freshness and flavour, and you can truly taste the seasonal produce. The menu is creative and changes regularly to showcase what’s best right now. They have beautiful house-made pastas with local greens, seafood straight from the coast, and vibrant salads with heirloom veggies. Our waitress, Mietta, was a highlight of the evening. She’s incredibly knowledgeable about both the menu and the Tasmanian wines on offer, and her passion for food and hospitality shines through in every interaction. She took the time to explain the origins of the ingredients and made some fantastic recommendations. There’s a real sense of generosity here, from the portion sizes to the warm service. You can tell the team genuinely loves what they do, and it makes for a truly memorable meal. If you’re looking for an outstanding Italian food made with the best of Tasmania, this is the place to go. Highly recommended!

Very tasty food with good presentation. The pork scotch is one of the best pork cuts I've had in quite some time. Juicy and tender with a sweet and earthy jus. The vegetables with it were next level (I could have had those for a meal alone). Oyster Kilpatrick and miso butter were full of flavour with nice firm and plump oysters. Clam chowder was tasty with with salmon, white fish and clams (yum). Pork belly was nice and crunchy in mild broth. Staff were very friendly, professional and efficient.

Last minute walk-in and they accommodated. Very lovely staff, just nice people. Our waitress, Tasnim was great and kindly helped us decide on food choices due to major food delimmas! 😀 All courses were really good, my favourite was the pork belly entree which was just perfect. Recommend the soup of the day also which was roasted vegetable, full of flavour and just good. Overall great experience.

My wife and I are celebrating a milestone wedding anniversary and we came for dinner at Tasman restaurant. It was a very special night thanks to the wonderful welcome and service we received from Kwan and the other staff at Tasman. The service, friendliness and food was excellent and we will carry special memories of our night.

Yelp
Got online and reserved myself a seat for one. They have a food menu online but neglect the wine menu. The only nit-pick I have for this restaurant is that wine menu, when I got it, it helpfully listed all wines by the glass first, and the bottle prices by wine category after, but it doesn't have any descriptive words whatsoever. Since I don't automatically know my wines by region this isn't helpful. However, I cannot fault the food nor service in this place. As a solo diner I fully expected that the restaurant would put me in an out-of-the-place table, but they did not. I got a beautiful view of Hobart's waterfront. I overheard a couple not liking their booked table and the waitress was more than happy to move them to a location they wanted. I ordered the 5 spice tofu (no sides), the cheesecake for desert, and ordered the rose wine to swing between the two and everything was paired beautifully. Service from the kitchen was fast. Since I was eating early on a Saturday evening I pretty much got the full attention of the wait and cook staff and more than happy to leave a 15% tip.
