We booked two tours with Lyra during our trip to Placencia, Belize, and they were easily the highlights of our visit. If you’re looking for authentic food tours and cultural experiences in Placencia, I highly recommend booking with her. 🌴☀️
On Saturday (2/28), we visited Ixcacao Maya Belizean Chocolate, a traditional cacao farm and chocolate experience in southern Belize. Juan and Henry welcomed us and guided us through the full chocolate-making process while sharing the story behind their family business. From tasting fresh cacao to seeing how the nibs are ground into chocolate paste, it was an incredibly eye-opening experience. 🍫✨
After enjoying a delicious homemade lunch at their home, we continued to a spice farm where Lyra took us through the gardens on a relaxing tractor ride, explaining the different plants, spices, and crops grown in Belize. 🌿🚜
Tip: dress comfortably and bring an appetite!
On Monday (3/2), we joined Lyra again for her Placencia food tour, which is honestly the perfect way to start a trip in Belize. We enjoyed amazing tamales, ganaches, and the freshest juice we had all trip. 🫔🍹
The tour continued with a walk through Placencia Village where we stopped at Barefoot Beach Bar and finished at Brewed Awakenings, where we tried delicious seaweed shakes. 🏝️🥤
If you’re planning a trip to Placencia and want a great introduction to Belizean food, local culture, and hidden gems in Placencia Village, definitely book a tour with Lyra.
Thank you, Lyra, for such an amazing and memorable experience! 🙏✨
