Taste NY Market at Todd Hill

Stopped at this location on the way back from Ridgefield, CT. It’s a very small, quaint shop with a nice variety of New York local products. When we first arrived it was pretty crowded, but the line moved quickly. My son and I both ordered a grilled ham and cheese panini—decent, but not really worth $15 each. The restrooms were clean and well-stocked, and there were plenty of outdoor seating options to relax and eat. Overall, I’d probably stop again for a drink and a restroom break, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy another sandwich.

Super cool place with very good coffee and hygienic restrooms.

This store is right on Taconic state Parkway. I am glad they have re-opened and have porta potty. It’s great for quick coffee, and restroom even though it’s a porta potty! They have specialty foods which give an inkling into everything NY farms have to offer. They also have grab and go food such as sandwiches, salads, fruit etc. The coffee is good. Everything here is a tad bit expensive but worth it.

Went there at 6:15 on a Monday and they were closed. Was looking forward to a cup of coffee from there for about 50 miles. Oh well. When I was going north on Friday night, I saw at least 40 people trying to use the bathroom at 9:15 PM. They really should consider a 24 hour bathrooms especially on the Taconic Parkway where there is nothing.

My greatest concern and experience at this location today 5/16/22 has to do with the public restrooms being dirty disgusting and unsanitary. The photos I will post will speak volumes. There is absolutely no excuse for this, and I was informed by the store attendant that they were not responsible for the conditions of the provided restrooms. however, they were directing people to use the restrooms in the condition they are presented.

A welcome change from the typical rest stop. This little shop sells all manner of snacks and beverages all made in New York. You can pick up lunch, dessert or a breakfast pastry. The almond frangipane is my weakness. Bathrooms outside, parking areas and store in handicapped accessible.

Center median rest stop featuring all NY State local foods. Wide selection of fresh sandwiches, healthier snacks, jams, cheeses, fruit and drinks. All NY State and locally produced. Worth a stop even if jusf for coffee.

Not 100% sure what to make of this place. Weirdly narrow, so you can't really browse - it's like 2 serpentine lines fill the place up. Coffee bar is nice. Sandwiches looked fresh and generous for the $ - that was a pleasant surprise. Not work a stop to see it. But if you're hungry and passing by or need a coffee break . . . by all means

The best! Pitch perfect farm shop on a main road. They sell drink, sandwiches, coffee and frozen cooking meats, cheese, sweets, wine. Review: 5+

A small little rest stop with a few options to hold you over but nothing great, especially for the price. We got a turkey sandwich for $14.33 with tax, and it was dry as a desert that hasn't seen rain in years and even the bread was stale and flavorless.

I've been here several times a year, and during summer months it' gets crowded. It's usually a place to use the bathroom and get a quick bite, the prices are a little higher than your typical gas station. The bathrooms next to the store closes at 8pm, so you will have to go to the other end of the parking lot if needed. Also the bathrooms are porta potties. The one at the end of the lot is usually messy at night when I get here, but I'm sure it's hard to maintain it since 100's if not 1000's of people come here daily. There is a dog side as well if your dog needs a walk, but other than that the facility is a pretty standard rest stop.

This should be a 3.5*. If you never been to a Taste NY, then you are in for a treat. The store highlights food and beverages products grown and produced in NY. This location is on the left side of the highway and it's a small location. Warning: You need a mask to enter. Let's get to the important stuff: 1) Restroom If you need the restroom, use the back entrance. There is 1 bathroom in the store. There are porta johns in front of the store. There are no sinks. There is a porta john trailer with sinks though it's not open. Go now since the next rest stop is far away unless you want to go off the highway. 2) Food Normally there is more local items but nothing appealed to me. I decided on a chocolate muffin and was corrected by the employee that the muffin is a double chocolate muffin. My friend got a brownie. Note: The muffin was dry. The brownie (was like a cookie on top of a brownie) was delicious - moist and not too sweet. 3) Drinks: I normally don't drink soda though I have a weakness for root beer or cream soda. This place had the Iron Heart so I had to try it. The root beer has an intense flavor. Stronger than I ever tasted before. The Shirley Temple does really taste like it's supposed to. We also try the West African spiced hibiscus drink which was very flavorful. So why did is this so-so? 1) Small selection -- it's a small location. 2) The employees were there. 3) I personally wasn't impressed by the selections offered but that is me compared to the other locations. Definitely go try out the items and you might be surprised.

You know the situation- right? You're on a road trip, start getting the munchies and the only place to stop for food is a gas station. Yes and no. Taste NY's telltale font on the outside, is our turning point after driving an hour from home heading further up into NY or to Montréal. It's in the middle of nowhere and sits between the North & South Taconic Pkwy in Poughkeepsie. There's enough parking for this small place and the big draw here is that apart from those gas station rest stops, there's actually no gas here. But- there's a "Farmer's Market" where you can grab healthy bites, seasonal items and some small gifts. Just be mindful- this is a rest stop where you could do just that... not for you to linger for hours on end.

Has coffee, local pastries and produce. But no permanent toilets. Still has portable ones despite years of signs promising permanent ones. Usual NYS delays.

This place is useless now. Travelers are going up and down the Taconic in the mornings and it's now closed. Who is actually driving here during the day? It's ludicrous and sad. We've loved this place for years and now zilch.

Filthy dirty outhouses over flowing and garbage cans spilling out garbage. It's the summer and people are traveling. These facilities should be kept up on for the health of travelers.

The Taste NY Market at Todd Hill automatically earns 5 stars for serving the always amazing Jane's Ice Cream. A yummy road trip treat! If ice cream isn't your jam, Taste NY is still an ideal stop for those of us who are fond of local goods. As the name suggests, the focus is on New York-made foods, and it's fun to have a browse around the small shop. The employees are friendly and don't bug you or anything. For other rest stop needs, the bathrooms are behind the market. Depending on the day, there are either port-a-potties or fancier toilet trailers available. Since Taste NY is in the median, you'll have to merge back onto the Taconic in the left lane.

Taste NY Tod Hill is definitely one of the top 10 places to stop along the way during your travels on the Taconic Parkway! I always love to stop here every time I travel to get a great cup of coffee and a danish! There are sandwiches and numerous other food items that are made fresh daily and taste so good! The Farmers Market items are a great way to pick up a gift or two for family and friends! The staff and service are impeccable! Ambiance is warm and inviting! Thank you, Liz and Victoria! 5 Stars!

It's the only PitStop on the Taconic 2 hours in from NY. Has nice stuff but go to the bathroom! Unless you want to get off the highway. There's no other pitstop on the highway.

Taste NY remains my favorite little pit stop on the Taconic. There's room for improvement, but overall it's a neat little shop with clean restrooms, plenty of parking, and great snacks. Coffee is now from a local roaster, which is neat, but it's also pricey - $1.65 for a very small cup (10oz, rather than the standard 12oz), $2.75ish for a medium cup, and $3.50ish for the large cup. If you're vegan or lactose intolerant, you'll have to drink it black; there's no dairyfree milk. Other go-to purchases here are ice cream cones, local cheeses, Hudson Valley Skincare lotions and goatmilk face scrub.

The place was cute. the lack of bathrooms definitely is awful, and the portable bathrooms are gross. there were some sandwiches in the fridge. my boyfriend and i got one each. the bread was so stale, the cold cuts were passable, and the mustard was unbearable. one of the employees seemed miserabel to be there, and i dont blame her it sucks. she yelled at two customers about getting in line when there was no clear line, just a gaggle of people being called up. 2/10, mid

What a wonderful place for a stop on the highway. Perfect for some coffee, pastries, snacks etc. You have access on either the North or South bound side of the Taconic. The staff are very pleasant, especially considering it is close to the end of their day. The cashier searched for the blueberriest nuffin for me without me asking. So sweet!! Nice touch - very clean Porto potties. We cant afford to lose small businesses like this. Fortunately they are deemed an essential business! Worth a stop!

I couldn't check in here because I was unable to get a signal. And the open Wi-Fi required a username and password Well, on the way back from the city, New York City that is, I ran out of bottled water on my drive to where I'm staying. So, I saw this place and pulled into the parking lot to check it out. It's a small store with quite a crowd and a variety of locally produced items. But, since all I needed was a bottle of water, I didn't pick up anything else. However I did look around, and they do have a nice selection of stuff. Of course, since it's in New York, the prices were higher than average but to be expected. The two staff members were friendly and courteous. Though, I have paid more than $2 or a bottle of water in the past.

Why say "masks required" if the staff won't wear masks? Most of the customers had no masks on either. I guess the pandemic isn't happening here. Also the most expensive, worst tasting cold brew I've ever had. Dear God, someone please open up something better along the Taconic!!

Great Taconic Parkway stop offering a wide range of tasty, fun, bespoke, artisan food and other items from local farms and NY based small business. Glad we stopped in!

Wow! I loved this little snack shack in the middle of the Taconic so much, that I may make excuses to take this route just to make another stop. I've driven by here more times than I care to count. But we're usually in some kind of hurry. This time I was with the kids, and they were hungry for a snack. And there, lo and behold in the refrigerator case, are products by many of my favorite local farms. We ended up getting a Ronnybrook blackberry yogurt drink for my son. But when my daughter found out they have Jane's ice cream from Hudson, the boy regretted his decision for a healthier snack. That chocolate ice cream is fantastically rich and delicious. I saw other familiar items from Dutch Desserts and Tierra Farm. There were some really nice looking croissants on the counter, but it wasn't clear where those were from. That's one of my small grievances with this place. For a store that's all about celebrating locally produced stuff, I would expect the signage to be better. Speaking of small grievances, the place is tiny. And even with the parking lot mostly vacant, the inside of this cottage felt jam packed. In fact, it was so crowded, that I felt like I couldn't really get a sense of everything they stocked. Surely, there are other treasures that I was jostled past as the queue progressed to the register. To me, that's a sign that local foods are still a big thing. And that people are thrilled to have a break from the junk food one is typically forced to endure at a road trip rest stop. Seriously, this place is fantastic. I just wish there were more of them, that they were bigger, and they were better staffed.

I have mobility limitations and Elizabeth and her staff are ALWAYS amazingly kind in assisting me with using their private restroom facilities--very clean and well stocked with toilet paper and soap - and roomy. They are extremely compassionate and always friendly. The quality of their artisan gourmet food is from local farms is outstanding. They also have a farmer's market in front of the shop one day a week, I think Fridays. Wonderful place and staff. Dr. Shlomo Silman, PhD

Very unique rest stop on the highway, definitely a nice change from your typical rest stop fast food! Something for everyone at this quaint little shop. They sell pre-wrapped sandwiches and salads, along with chips & Saratoga spring water-- perfect for picnicking in the warmer months. Also of note are the artisanal cheeses, meats, and limited edition food items from many of the farms in Upstate New York. This is a nice place to take a quick rest, especially if during your trip upstate you forget to visit some of these local Farms, since some may not be open on the weekends. Slight mark up on prices I'm sure to keep the business open. Bathroom stalls outside didn't have running water, just purell. (I think the inside bathroom has a sink, there was a line for it, and we couldn't wait.)

Pretty cool place I stopped by IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY. This isn't a Restaurant, although they should consider it! But it's a small little market that has a range of all these products from different farms. I stopped in on Friday afternoon and there was a small farmers market outside where you can grab a quick bite but bring cash!

When I have to take trips to Courts upstate, I often find myself driving by Taste NY. Several times I stopped and unfortunately for me they were closed. Recently I stopped and they were open. This small store is pretty cool and has regional items, including cheeses, syrups, coffee, teas and all sorts of interesting items. They even have a rest room. It was worth a stop.

This is a nice little rest area/visitor's center/food store stop, on the Taconic Parkway. There's no gas here, but there's a variety of local and boutique foods for purchase. This would be a great place to stop and pick up some fancy snacks on your way into or out of town. There are bathrooms here around the side, in one of those portapotty trucks.

Excellent indoor and farmers Market (Fridays) on the Taconic Parkway at Todd Hill. All NYS products in both the indoor and farmers markets. Farmers Market also has NYS distilleries. A great pit stop to buy local and support NYS Farmers, distilleries and food producers. There are bathrooms indoors and in back of the indoor market. Farmers Market has vegan Indian food and McGrath Cheeses.

When you are hungry this is a great place to stop, grab snacks, even lunch or stretch your legs. The store is amazing. Everything is either grown, or made in NY State. Shopping local is a nice way to promote local businesses. They provide a restroom in a white building outside. Staff is super helpful and friendly.

Stopped by on a Friday just as a few booths were closing up and leaving. There was also a food truck here selling some gourmet dishes. We had just eaten pizza and were only looking for dessert. We went in and immediately got two chocolate chunk cookies because they are soft and chewy and chocolatey and delicious. We also decided to try a whoopie pie because my wife and I have been pretty hooked on them lately. I wouldn't purchase it again. It was really expensive at $4.50 and although the cake was moist and fantastic the cream was weird. It had a weird flavor almost mint. Not bad but I wouldn't drop that much when I know they have other treats available. Definitely want to try the ice cream here at some point. It's looking more and more like this pit stop is a gem. I would definitely recommend stopping here if you are on the taconic pkwy.

Staff was extremely helpful and kind. Very clean overall, including, but not limited to, the restrooms (a very nice surprise). Wonderful experience.

Great gourmet rest stop in the middle of the Taconic for a little bit of locally grown food.

The stafff let me use the emplyoee bathroom which I thought was nice of them. However I walk into the bathroom only to find boxes muktiple boxes of food and drinks. Why on earth is a business storeing food and drinks in a bathroom and storing food and drinks in a bathroom !the same food that was being stored in the bathroom was being sold on the sales floor! If you like your food stored in a bathroom this is your store! What a disgrace !

Do I have to give this location a star? You cannot imagine a business that is so rude and dismissive of customers. And I'm not talking about just last night when my partner asked to use the portable toilet and the woman who was still working there--she could have just opened the door to the portable toilet. Nope. She literally screamed at us, "We're closed." Three times. They were actually closing. She was still doing a number of tasks--not with her purse in here hand opening the door to her car. She was still buzzing around closing up. But througthout the pandemic every time we stopped there the staff made some issue or other about using the bathrooms. And again not the bathrooms in the building. The bathrooms outside. They had some arcane system of getting into the building to purchase items as well. Not to mention that they offer a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on white bread for a mere $7.00. I can buy three jars of peanut butter and a loaf of bread for $7.00. And I find most of the offerings so wildly overpriced. I made the mistake for the last time of purchasing a scone. It looks like a scone in that it is a triangle. The dough is really, really awful. In short--I could go on--last night 11-11-21 was our final stop at Taste of New York. I seriously don't know where they find the staff. But they are all so unpleasant. I do have to add a star. Damn.

Stopped here with a coworker for a quick bite to eat on our way back to Long Island from Albany. Cute little place full of a nice variety of fresh and prepackaged foods. There was coffee, sandwiches, salads already made. They also had a variety of jarred items like pickles, ketchup, mustard, honey, etc as well as fresh eggs, meats and cheeses. I got one of the turkey sandwiches with Brie and it was super yummy for a quick grab n go lunch!

Clean restrooms and food is sourced locally. Great for quality gifts. Perfect coffee, knowledgeable staff. Farmers Market outside in summer and fall added bonus.

On my way back from a Uber pick-up/drop-off request at Westchester Airport, I had stopped in here. Having known about this location from the many years I had gone into this shop (then a Rest Area) on the Taconic and feeling tired from driving for pretty long distance, I stopped in here. I had been thinking for the last several months about stopping in here, but never got a chance until today to do so. And although I had some trouble finding a parking space in any of the several lots they have there, when I pulled around the building on the ring road so that I was facing parallel to the south lanes of the Taconic (I came in from the Northbound lanes), I finally found a parking spot that "had my name written all over it". Though there was a motorcycle biker to my right, the spot was empty and I pulled in as I slithered into it without much problems. I knew a little about the entrance. The entrance to the location is best seen from the Northbound locations. It had some tables outside, as well as a bench or two. People generally eat in their car or on the run. The one table had a canopy on it, and at the time I got there, there was already a person on that seat. Nearby this is the ramp that leads people up and into the shop. And at the top, there was a sign saying "if you need to use a bathroom, we only have one usable bathroom right now - but to get there, you have to go around to the back entrance". I didn't have to go, but it was worthwhile to note here. I took a few pictures at first (I'll post these in a little bit), but decided to go in to see what I was missing. When I got inside, I was immediately greeted by their milk case (where they had 12 ounce containers of milk (and other dairy items) from local farms (which I later had gotten). But decided to go a little further in to see what else they had. I knew everything was all locally made from farmers nearby. (Definitely not my forte, but I didn't mind it.) They had cookies, jelly (I specifically saw some jelly that was originally produced from Staatsburg nearby, but I had not enough money to buy so I had to pass it up but I could be back in at some point in the future), ice cream (that I noticed one employee dishing out onto something) and many other goodies. All well and good there. I wasn't greeted originally, but I had to go out to get my money. I didn't notice signage for how much the milk cost, but I knew I was in for a treat and I knew I desperately needed something. I headed back out and retrieved my money and went back inside to collect the milk and pay. I got in there and put the milk on the counter. They use iPads as their registers (which I thought was rather interesting.) The 12 ounce container of chocolate milk rang up at exactly $2. I paid and almost walked off when I realized that I didn't get a receipt. I asked and was given one. Slither as I was, I sipped the milk from the bench and tried to find the trash receptacles. I didn't have much brains to look a little further. I didn't see them on the other side of the ramp which was away from me and the direction I expected to find one. I walked around the building in an attempt to find the trash containers, but no dice. When I continued on my path back around, I finally found them right where I started from. Boy must the people who were sitting on the benches thought I was really silly. But boy did they not realize just where I was. I continued out to my car again, and before backing out of the spot on the side of the building, two cars passed me by. One stopped to take my spot, but that's not all. Just as I was pulling around to get back to the Northbound exit, I noticed a State Police van pull over someone who was pulling into the lot in front of me. I don't really care why at this point, but it's also very awkward that it all happened in front of my eyes. I headed out from the spot back out onto the Taconic State Parkway North and headed back to where I originally came from. This spot is definitely something that every single person travelling through the area should stop at. It's aisles are a little thin (between walls) but you definitely won't be disappointed, as you'll leave with something you'll need and enjoy that will make you remember the time you spent in New York. Even if it's just the one time, it really does seem like something you'll want to experience.

This is usually our favorite place to stop and nosh on our way to New England and back. However, today it was a real disappointment. I'm hoping that the conditions were so abysmal because it's a holiday (Columbus Day), but there was certainly staff working in the store (and--as usual, they were friendly and accommodating). However, the rest rooms were filthy, and the grounds were filthy--garbage cans were overflowing and there was garbage all over the sides of the parking lot. As an added disappointment, the bread on our sandwiches was stale. Usually the food is fresh and delicious. My take away???DON'T COME HERE ON A HOLIDAY!!!

Cute little place to stop instead of a typical rest stop. They've got lots to offer from vendors all over the state. Drinks, coffee, ready to eat foods, frozen pastas to pack in your cooler for later, jams, pickles, sauces, etc. Pay attention, if there's something you like, you can always try and stop by to see where it's actually made.

The racist owner/manager who thinks it's ok to throw my credit card at me across the counter rather than touch my hand. Oscar and I have both noticed her hostility with us in seperate interactions. She'll get no more of my black dollars!

Extremely pricey for a rest area, I just bought a sandwich from there and it was $10.95. For that price I expected to taste amazing and When I bit into it, I was disappointed. I advise they lower the prices of everything because I could have gotten a much better Sandwich for much cheaper. And I was charged for something I didn't even get and we did not realize till we were on the road.

I pulled over a little after 6 pm from Taconic Northbound and it was closed! It's summertime! The bathrooms which are glorified porta-potties were locked :(

I would have given five stars... Great location local food and decent coffee... With that said this goes out to the older woman working the register this morning Monday... I purchased two coffees that came out to $7.01 I gave her a $10 bill and she gave me back $2.99 ...really you couldn't give me back $3 you had to give me $0.99 in coin.. oblivious

Great tourist trap and much needed rest stop on the Taconic parkway. Picked up cannoli chips and cannoli dip- it was awesome. Fresh whole chocolate milk and beef jerky. Good place for a little refreshment. They should really sell NY wine and take it up a notch. Too few restrooms. Porta-potties also at the far end of the parking lot.

Cute place to stop for fresh local food for a picnic , a quick ice cream or for honeys, syrup, coffee, eggs, frozen veggies and more.

I won't be stopping here anymore. I was charged $5.00 for an iced coffee (more than Brooklyn where I live half time!!!) AND there was no 2%, skim, or alternative milk product available. I don't drink half-and-half or whole milk. The parking around the store is jammed, because apparently car poolers are also using those spots. I had been happy to purchase local fruits, vegetables and frozen items here in the past but the stop has become an unpleasant experience.

As a frequent NYC - Albany road-tripper who likes to avoid the Thruway, this is a great pit-stop along the great Taconic Parkway. Not going to find a lot of "meals" here, and it's not like they've got much more than a generic coffee selection, but this place serves its purpose very well. A place supporting local commerce with friendly staff, grab a snack and a drink, and hit one of the few bathrooms in good condition, what else could you ask for?

I was ready for a cup of coffee on a drive up the Taconic when we happened upon this cute little shop that showcases New York food products. Not only a great idea to support the state's economic development efforts and provide a respite on the parkway that didn't seem to have other rest stops (at least in the segment near here), but the variety and quality of the goods were a pleasant and unexpected surprise. Highly recommend stopping here if you drive by.

Nice to see products from various parts of NY. It's a must visit for locals and a small rest stop for those passing through. Nice idea!
