I've been coming here for over 10 years now and always loved the food, especially the stew chicken. But recently the entire recipe for it changed. The stew chicken don't even look like stew anymore, it look like white chicken. The taste and the presentation is off. I've found huge whole cloves of garlic and the food just doesn't taste the same anymore. Please fix that.I've notified staff about this issue, but months later nothing has changed. Bring back the old stew chicken! Below I've added pictures to show the difference.

On November 28th, I ordered 2 coconut cakes (toto) and this is what I found inside of one of them. Something seems like a stick as big as my Pinky finger. I addressed the problem with the manager, and he said he would speak to the baker. I called back the following day to find out what it was, the manager said that "the baker doesn't know what it is, and he has to go because he's attended to a customer." I also asked for the owner's number and he said " he doesn't know it, call the store on Ditmas Ave."

The atmosphere was friendly. The food is delicious. I love the cow foot with rice and oxtails.

First time there! Employees have THEE nastiest attitude! Decided to give them a try. Ordered a quarter jerk (no meal). Simply asked to have just a little slaw (cabbage) with the chicken. The woman rudely tells me that it’ll cost me $3! Literally, all the food items just sitting there and it’s near closing time! Didn’t mind paying a little something, but this is just GREED!! One of the heavy set male staff or manager proceeds to give a whole rude dissertation, like Wth!? Another customer who I didn’t know began to tell them off and told me that ppl frequently complain about their attitude/ poor service! Opened the container in the car and this is what I get for $6+ dollars- Scraps! Won’t eat it and won’t EVER go back!

Google
It's take out. The dinner menu: oxtail and curry goat are my absolute favorite. As well as their hard dough bread. I get my oxtail with rice and peas every chance I get when in Brooklyn. Love, love love!!!

Yelp
Food- Tasty fresh and enjoyable Service- pleasant cashier Ambiance- smells like fresh bread and good food!! No seating I have been coming here for years for a variety of breads and patties throughout the years. Food is usually done nice and early in the AM . Chicken patty pictured is mild and isn't spicy at all. The filling is delicious and well mixed. The patty itself is freshly made and has a tasty crust. Thumb up, would recommend and continue to return.

Yelp
Tasty Delicious Jamaican Caribbean Resturant is one of Brooklyn finest carribbean take out. Food: is made freshly daily, it's tasty with all the right spices, and full of color. The food gives you a real Jamaican taste! Service: the service is always fast and good with smiles. Due to the fact its take out only, it really gets pack around 2pm through closing. Ambiance: the ambiance is set up like take out therefore its open food that you can see what you want. I give an overall rating of 4.8

Yelp
Best Curry Goat in Brooklyn, hands down! I've tried getting it elsewhere and nothing compares. Their spice and season level hit different! I've been coming here for years and the only thing I hate is it's like they no longer make plantains and slaw or salad is your only side option.

Yelp
The people behind the counter, especially the ladies disrespectful, and they never get your order right most the time you got an order again after your food already came to complete the order so I'll give them a 4 out of 10. ..........................................................................

Tasha-Gaye J.

Yelp
Customer service is poor, whenever I call and they ask me to hold they never return to the call. Last time I was on hold for 8 mins until I decided to hang up, it has happened numerous times. Recommendation- If the rice starts to burn, don't service it to customers, we can smell it and taste it, stop letting the pepper burst in the oxtail, y'all are gonna get in serious trouble for that one day.

Yelp
We saw this restaurant on the side of the road and saw that it had a reading in the window and decided to try it. We went inside to a semi- organized line and waited our turn to place an order. I immediately had to go and move the car. Parking outside is rough. The BF stayed inside to order and I went to move the car into a better space. When I returned I saw the receipt had the wrong item that I wanted for dinner. So when we spoke to the person who took the order, the attitudes flared immediately. She asked someone else about how to fix it, more attitude. Knowing goat costs more than chicken, it was really making the BF angry with the lack of response. The lady tried giving him the $2.35 without a word, I stepped in and got a juice in exchange and added $2 ($4.35 for juice ). I felt like they make up things as they go. By the time I left the cashier was very friendly with me and I felt a little better about the visit. The food was fresh and was pretty good. I had curry chicken, rice and peas with some weird, sweet veggies and a chicken pattie) BF had oxtails rice and peas with the same veggies a beef pattie. Next time I with get salad instead of the veggies. Note: there are no prices written on the only menu in the place which is just the types of foods they sell no sizes or anything else is written there.

Yelp
This restaurant explains why I don't eat outside food, but sometimes the laziness gets the best of me. As I was almost finishing my roti I see a piece of hair, employees plz wear shower caps instead of the nets with holes hair can still go threw the net. DISGUSTING

Yelp
This place is an abomination. The lack of organization is one for the books. A piece of advice DO NOT place any orders for events because it WILL NOT be ready by the agreed upon time. I placed an order 3 days in advance and when I arrived on time, I had to wait an additional 30 minutes which then became 1 hour bc the patties were not ready and the other half of the order didn't show up. They did refund my money for the missing part. When I asked why the order was late and partial. Everyone was looking at me as if I had 10 heads or as if they had seen a Duppy. I will say while waiting the hour keep in mind no drink or a slice of cake was offered (lack of customer service once again) people were still coming in.... I hope the food is good...

Yelp
The best salt fish dumpings and banana PERIODT. Who cares about the long lines(well I do) that just says we are waiting on something great. This is the best Saltfish I've Ever had....if you're lucky to can get it with Okra. Omg delicious The dumplings are comforting and the prices are right. I come way out of Long Island to get some good food. The cakes are tasty too. I love their food!!!!

Yelp
What you need to know: - West Indian bakery and restaurant, though I see many Jamaican flags in their kitchen - Lines can get really long, which is a sign of how awesome this place is - Accepts credit cards - Strictly a take out joint with no place to sit - Efficient and curt staff, you're not coming here to be wrapped in customer service hugs! What we ordered: - Curry goat (price for medium plate $10) - this was easily the best goat I have had in recent memory. The goat was cooked for so long that the meat literally fell off the bone. The meat was extremely tender, was not gamely and had a powerful punch of spice. Simply magnificent! - Oxtail (medium plate for $10) - generous portions of oxtail at a good price. The meat was very tender and made for easy eating! The sauce was thick, sweet and spicy! - Current roll $1.50 - Not the best current roll, just ok.

Yelp
The service is slow and staff can be rude and entitled. You need customers to sustain a business. That's not clear?! I won't be supporting anymore. Baked good are ok, but consistency and good customer service is key! This place has neither.

Yelp
Ordered from Uber Eats around 9:20pm for oxtail and curry goat. They canceled my order shortly after I placed it and said that the oxtail was sold out. Ok, no problem. So I placed an order for the curry goal only. And they canceled it again. But this time curry goat is available. I'm just wondering if you canceled my order because you have 40 mins til closing. If so, you probably shouldn't be business then or at least just be a storefront that does not utilize Uber eats. I checked on Yelp that you close at 10pm, my order was placed at 920pm and second order placed shortly after you canceled the first order. So why cancel my order? And get working phone. How can you have a business without a working phone? ‍

Yelp
PROS: GREAT FOOD... (when what you want is available) CONS: Lack of service etiquette.. rude inattentive workers, often involved in their own conversation while you wait. Food never ready at lunch time 12-2pm. Fried chicken sells out really fast and they never increase production. please know they use lots of spice in all of their dishes. extremely long lines at times

Yelp
The food is alright. It's just like any other West Indian restaurant in Brooklyn. Horrible customer service and rude cashiers. The food is over priced and got a small order for $6 in a little box. Normally a small is in one of those round containers. I ordered a slice of red velvet cake too, but it was kool aid red and WAY too sweet. The salad was good it cooled down the spiciness of the baked chicken.

Yelp
this place is my go to place for authentic curry goat and rice and peas!!! i refer it to everyone as the best spot in brooklyn!

Yelp
This is one of my favorite spots for a quick meal when i dont feel like cooking. The food is good which explains the long lines but you get your food in a pretty decent time frame. Would recommend this restaurant they also give back to the neighborhood on thanksgiving which is really awesome !

Yelp
Their food taste good and they are always busy. Oxtail and rice & peas is amazing, so is curry goat! Spicy and delicious! Quick service.

Yelp
I did an Uber eats order. I didn't take a photo, because, there was really nothing to take one of. I see some of nice plates full of vegetable and plantain. I had none of that. Mine consisted of oxtail, rice and peas, and oil. Lots of oil. The oxtails seemed promising until I started eating them, and it was fatty. The gravy was delicious, but overshadowed by the insane amount of oil there was. Of course, that made the rice oily. Which, obviously ruined that part, too. I would ALMOST give it another shot, but considering the amount of oil in my food, and the fact that there was a HUGE oversight in packing a plate, unlikely.

Yelp
The baker at thebakery outlet on 9211 Ditmas Ave did a fabulous job on my wedding cake. It was so beautiful and delicious. Thank you.

Yelp
I always purchase from this restaurant because the food is actually good BUT they 7out 10 always get my order wrong !! I'm so annoyed because I don't eat thigh or leg and they feel the need to always put it in my meal smh !! That's why I'm giving them a 3 star poor customer service
google avatar

Nicole G.

Yelp
This is restaurant had me licking my fingers after i was done eating fried chicken with rice & peas with brown stew chicken gravy. The prices are reasonable and the workers are pleasant and patient (which is not normal in a Jamaican restaurant).

Gabriela J.

Yelp
The food is alright, I usually get the oxtail. Really only giving this place one star because of the HORRIBLE customer service. The person taking orders at the register has a nasty attitude. After not having what I wanted, and I proceed to question her on what they did have, she sucked her teeth and wasn't wanting to service me. We got into a little back and forth after she felt she needed to report to her co-worker of this matter... while I'm standing right there. I came for food, not attitude. I can easily take my business to the big corporations where the food can be better and cheaper! This is why people strain from supporting small businesses! -

Yelp
Best Jamaican restaurant in Brooklyn hands down .. Their food is always delicious and consistent .. Always lines in there becuz the food is so great .. They are very popular for their baked goods which are also really tasty .. I couldn't suggest u a favorite plate because I've tried everything and nothing disappointed me yet .. I can say their rice n gungu peas are great .. Only reason I gave them a 4 star is because they close so early (even though they open early ) and because I feel they need more recognition .. C&J ain't got nothing on this restaurant! Oh and no stinkin attitude from the employees that's a super plus

Yelp
This is the best West Indian food in the area that I've had. I just hate that they don't always have wings. When I do travel 15-20 min to get wings they would tell me come back at 2 or 3pm when it's already 12/1 pm (lunch time). Other then the wings problem they seem to always have this is the best one out of all of their restaurants. I am glad that they let go of the one on 42nd and ave D. The ave D store is a disgrace. Good that they let them go. Also the cakes are great the pastries too. Good food just no eat in.

Yelp
I'm a very picky eater when it comes to eating West Indian food, but a friend referred me to try this place and I did about 2 weeks ago. BEST Caribbean restaurant in Brooklyn for sure. I have the fried chicken with rice & peas and oxtail gravy. Everything was perfect. I'm actually headed there now to get some food. And to try their parties I keep hearing about. Keep up the great work.

Quelletta C.

Yelp
A coworker suggested I give this place a try and to my disappointment the food was the worst I've ever tasted, Not only was the cashier rude but the oxtails were fatty without a stitch of meat, the rice and peas was over cooked the cabbage offensive. I will be sure not to return to this place ever or suggest it to anyone. Major disappointment.

Yelp
During the Labor Day Parade. I was relaxing vibing up the block at some friends BBQ....... turns out the food they had was for sale.... worst part was the damn food was 10 bucks a plate! FUDGE OUTTA HERE!!!! I said scratch this... I walked to Rutland.. saw this long line almost out the door.. I hoped on the line, I knew the food would be good, just by the demand. I had Oxtails with Rice & Peas... hmmmp hmmmp...... Now I've had my share of Ox in my life time... this by no means blew the rest away... but it was damn good. Meat was tender and seasoned well. The rice was not hard it was a pleasure to enjoy. Washed it down with some Peanut Punch! #BOOM!

Yelp
Why one star you say? The food is good but the customer service is non existent. The cashier has a horrible attitude, service is painfully slow, and they run out of prepared food but bother to cook more or offer you an alternative. I refuse to patronize a place that treats its customers like shit. Sadly my dear husband keeps going back for the abuse and food.

Kristen J.

Yelp
One of the best fried chicken hands down. But the service needs to be improved. There's always a long line around dinner time and they tend to run out of fried chicken. I would think they would just make more to keep up with demand but that's not the case. They run out of fried chicken before 7 and rarely make more. I would not recommend the stew chicken but the fried chicken and bake chicken is a must have.

Yelp
By far the best tasting West Indian and Italian Cuisine. Patties are to Die for, the Escovitch fish, and their pastries are out of this world dynamic.
google avatar

Ashanti H.

Yelp
The cakes are ok, the food is ok most of the time but very inconsistent. Once I got oxtail that was cooked perfectly but SOOOO SPICY I couldn't eat it and I like spicy, then one time perfect seasoning, but the meat was hard and rubbery. The roti is too doughy and chewy. Oh and the food is too spendy for what it is.

Shonna ..

Yelp
I never had a bad dish from the restaurant . everything is great . even the breakfast , i absolutely love the porridge

Rhona M.

Yelp
The best bakery I've visited, the food is very tasty. Dex is so respectful and takes care of his customers although the lines might be really long at times it's either the wait.

Ingrid P.

Yelp
Best Wes Indian food in Brooklyn....Best Patties in New York for sure. Pastries are amazingly great...Best homemade juices.

Yelp
I live close to this spot so I'm in here on a regular basis prob 3-4 times a week. The beef patties are the best in Brooklyn hands down! They sell out so damn fast it's ridiculous. The fish is good also there was a point when I was having it weekly. The oxtails is good as well not the best I have had but it does the job, it's seasoned properly and always soft, I can never finish a medium in one sitting. I had their BBQ chicken with rice and peas and it has become my new go to when I visit extremely tasty. The curry chicken is good also and they had chowmein one time and it was good as hell. This place is always crowded though so if you can call in your order I recommend it. The roti is good and always fills me up. The employees are friendly and they know the regulars. Overall I love this spot and I wish them well. Around thanksgiving and Christmas they give away small plates for free to show their appreciation to the community. U hope more people show support they deserve it.

Merissa V.

Yelp
I usually stop here on my way home since I live 5 mins walking distance, They're food is good so the long lines are definitely worth the wait, but the female server's have very nasty attitudes. I walked in this morning because I finally seen the beef patties and coco bread in the window, after waiting in line for about 8 minutes, I get to the counter, I said "Good Morning, no response, What you want was her response, I said beef patty and coco bread, she was to busy wrapped in her loud conversations with a customer who already had their food to hear my coco bread order. Mind you she charged me for the coco bread, She told another worker to grab my patty, but 10 minutes later she herself brings my patty without coco bread, I asked her where is the coco bread and she rolls her eyes and loudly talks her mess about me to a friend of hers. I do not know her name, but she has a very nasty attitude, and because of her lack of customer service I will not be spending my money there ever. I know customer service is a big part of any job that deals directly with customers. But she needs a reality check on customer service.
