Tasty Place

"If you like dumplings and noodles—and plenty of them—Tasty Place is your kind of place. Hot or cold, steamed or pan-fried, solo or in soup, this cornucopia of carbs is made entirely by hand, a process diners can watch unfold in a glassed-in room adjacent to the kitchen. It’s likely you’ll find yourself with some time to do so, as waits can get long at peak hours. As with many Chinese eateries, the menu is overly vast, spanning from Sichuan to Cantonese. The happiest diners stick to dough-based items, like tender chicken dumplings with sweet corn, or chewy handmade cold noodles topped with ground pork, mung bean sprouts, green onion and chilies. Pork dumplings with fermented cabbage are ferociously good—equal parts juicy, tangy and toothsome." - Michelin Inspector

This is homemade Chinese food at its best. We had pan fried pork dumplings, homemade noodle chow mein, and Mongolian beef. Simple food made with fresh ingredients - and I also appreciated the quick service and friendly waitress. I would give it a try if you’re on a layover near the airport and looking for a good place to eat.

Such a cozy atmosphere with a wide array of dishes. Our food came out hot and fresh. It was us 3 so we ordered pork and Nappa cabbage dumplings, broccoli beef w/rice and general tso’s. Plenty to eat to your hearts delight. We would definitely come back. I wish I ordered the noodles because apparently they’re really good too. 10/10 would recommend

Plenty of non-spicy options and the spicy ones were kindly adjusted You'd have to go elsewhere for a desert — great if one's trying to manage the intake of sweets

Ugh... I hate leaving negative reviews but I have to be honest. I walked by this place last month because it is maybe half a block down from Yummy Szechuan which is On Point delicious Szechuan eats. They had pictures of their menu out of side the door which was one of the reasons why I wanted to go back and try. I'm a big fan of lotus root and I saw two ways that they prepared there. I have an old faded Michelin 2019 taped on their window before you walk in as does Yummy Szechuan and being that the Bay Area brings on the best of the best Chinese food I thought I would give this place a try. When we sat down I was looking for a Lotus root on the menu and the waitress told us they don't have that on the new menu. We had ordered some hot tea which they basically put in plastic cups of hot water which I'm not a fan of but hey it was our first time there and just getting to know the place. Had we not ordered the tea before I found out the menu had changed we would have left. But I feel obligated to try out a new local joint. They had a squid with tentacles Hot Pot that I wanted to try so we stayed. And I always judge a Chinese Szechuan place by their mapo tofu bc I like the real deal mouth numbing Peppercorns in my mouth got that dish has to offer. We ordered the spicy dumplings which came out with a medium warm center very average in flavor. I should have sent it back but I figured I would just take it home and reheat it. The squid tentacle Hot Pot was very disappointing it was really heavy on the celery and the squid tentacles were underwhelming in quantity but it was the texture was really alarming for me...... it was like the squid tentacle concoction was sitting in something for a long time and had been overcooked because there was no chew to it and you couldn't even call it tender it was very disappointing to say the least. The Mapo tofu food was probably the best thing we ate... Not the best but it would be considered good if it was outside of the Bay Area. And we got the spicy Dan Dan noodles that were okay maybe they were better but I was just disappointed in the whole experience. It was like a bait-and-switch having the pictures of their menu items in a Michelin 2019 when it seems like it was Under New Management and you're tricked into walking to the place expecting something and being forced to order what you think is going to be at least good Szechuan in the Bay Area but it was far from it . They really should take down the photos of The Many Items they don't have anymore because it was the only reason I went back to that joint. The waitress was nice but she was pretty laid back and didn't check up on us and it wasn't that busy. I hate leaving reviews like this but if you're a foodie says one person like I am this is not the place to go to.

Looks like it is under new management and the menu changed a bit. The noodle was good and prices are reasonable.

Wow the food is great. Such a surprise find. This restaurant is very close to another Sichuan restaurant and it's right next to a bbq restaurant so make sure you are going to the correct entrance. I recall coming to this place when I meant to go to the Sichuan restaurant so I left last time and I think it was a mistake to try this restaurant only after so many years. This restaurant is amazing. I don't know whether this changed owners but wow the food tastes so good. It's probably my favorite Chinese spicy food restaurant in the Peninsula now. The food portions are small but the prices reflect that and it's nice to see prices didn't go crazy for once. Even the way the ingredients are chopped can tell that the ones in the kitchen paid attention because the pieces are cut properly as opposed to other Chinese restaurants such as Wonderful (they should train the kitchen helper who to chop stuff there). Everything we ordered tastes great. I liked the frog dry pot. I also liked the spicy fish. The pork liver also is tender and flavorful. I really can't find any fault in terms of food here other than maybe presentation but who cares when they taste good. Even white rice tastes good and goes well with spicy food. The service is good and quick. The place is small but has decent number of tables. I don't recommend huge parties due to the space but I highly recommend this restaurant.

The Dragon Eggplant with Garlic Sauce is a visual masterpiece, not to mention utterly delicious with its unique presentation and mild flavor. It is of great significance to enjoy it at the year of the dragon!! And if you're into authentic spice, their Kong Pao Chicken hits the mark perfectly. With a perfect blend of heat and flavor, it's a must-try. However, it shouldn't have onions... Tasty Place is where creativity meets tradition, making every dish a delightful experience. For cool dishes, try their mixed of salad and fried fish is said to be among the best!

This Sichuan restaurant is a gem! The dry pot shredded cabbage is incredibly tasty, and the spicy hot pot with fresh fish slices is simply outstanding. The texture of the fresh fish fillets is so amazing. If you're a fan of Sichuan cuisine, this place is a must-try!
