This is the coolest bar ever. It’s a hidden little spot, so keep an eye out for the picture of the art by the staircase. Upon entering, it’s clear that this place gets crowded. I got here early enough to be seated without a reservation. The vibes were immaculate. From the food, the service, and people, it’s a true izakaya experience. The punk music along with the fresh skewers and sashimi feels like a Tokyo dream come true.

Cool place with good food and awesome music - if you are into punk, that is. :) Got a good shochu also, recommended by the chef. Will go again when in Tokyo next time.

I've been coming here for years and it's always been packed. It feels like fight club of some sort where if you don't know anyone you feel like you don't belong. The sign board outside perpetually says the place is fully booked every day. But still you get people trying their luck trying to to get in just for the experience. Once you are in you will be greeted with the most authentic izakaya food that you have ever had. Everything is fresh. Everything is cooked in front of you. Everything is delicious. Do what you need to to get a spot in here, you won't regret it.

Our awesome friend from Tokyo brought us to this amazing place, and we had an amazing time! It’s the coolest spot in Tokyo! With good vibes, rock music, and great food, what more could you ask for? —Recommend: Avocado Steak and bacon wrapped with green pepper and cheese

Once in a while, you come across these quirky little restaurants that remind you why you love Tokyo so much. This is one of them. It captures a certain, grunge Americana vibe that I don’t even find back in the States, but for some reason Japan continues to carry. But I’m all here for it. There are old rock band posters on the wall, a cigarette vending machine, and just overall nice homey vibes with the floor seating on the second floor. I should mention the food. The skewers are solid, but man, that lamb skewer was my favorite dish. The beef radish soup was also great.

All of the food was so good!! Shoutout to the skewers and sashimi plate. The staff were also really friendly and it was a good place to hang out in.

Yelp
Cool izakaya with a punk rock vibe. Food is solid and not too expensive. Tried several things but i was craving veggies since i haven't had much on my Tokyo visit and they had quite a few good options. The cold cucumber dish was good, raw cabbage with 2 kinds of dips was simple and refreshing, avocado on sizzling platter was delish. Got a few grilled meat & fish dishes that were good too. All in all it was just a fun place to eat with good bar food.

Yelp
Tatemichiya is a little bit crazy, a little bit smoky and a little bit hipster but definitely a LOT of fun! The music is loud, the drinks are cheap and the food is some of the best around. The chef/owner is high intensity and great to watch in his element cooking great food over hot coals. The menu has a vast offering of traditional izakaya dishes but the ingredients are super fresh and the flavors are modernized. First you should definitely get a Grapefruit Shochu Sour and just keep those on repeat the whole night through. Every single dish we ordered was delicious - agedashi tofu, takoyaki, pickled veggies, potatoes sauteed with anchovies (this was DELICIOUS!) and the taiyaki (fish shaped pancake) was served with matcha ice cream and is a must order, for sure. The clientele was a mix of travelers and locals and honestly every type of person would be more than welcome here.
