On the Grid : Pocket Bar

"You'll be intrigued by the apothecary-style bottles, antiques and nostalgic paraphernalia as you walk in. The bartenders are friendly and the cocktails unique – try the Darlinghurst Bicycle Club (featuring artichoke liquer) and the Long White Cloud (kiwi-fruit and ice cream – like a grown-up fizzy spider)." - Universal Favourite

We held my boyfriend’s 30th at Tatler over the weekend and it was absolutely perfect! We booked the garden bar and terrace which was the perfect space for around 50 people. Brendan was amazing from the very first conversation back in April, super helpful and clear with everything. We were able to access the venue early to decorate, the food was fab, and all the staff were so friendly and accommodating. Couldn’t recommend it more!

I had my birthday party here a few weeks ago for 30-40 people. It was FANTASTIC! The area I reserved had great seating and standing options, great mingling areas, and had awnings and heaters for the weather. Everyone was comfy and had room to move around. There was a DJ and music all night which got progressively more dance-y which made a great vibe in the venue. The pizzas on the food menu were huge and very tasty, helping the excellent cocktail list go down easy. It was really simple to book and the staff were excellent, including the great doorman letting people into the venue. Everyone told me how fun the party was and how great the venue was both during and after the party. Highly recommend!

One of my favourite venues in Sydney. I had my 30th here, and it was an unforgettable night thanks to the amazing team. Tatler is definitely one of Sydney’s most iconic hidden gems.

Hands down the best venue in Sydney and best place for a private function. Great cocktails and decor, but what makes it even more amazing is the staff who are all so friendly and so helpful. I hosted a birthday in the space and could not recommend it more! Brendan and his team went above and beyond and made the night and the set up so effortless and so amazing! Everyone loved the cocktails and couldn’t stop saying how impressed they were with the space! Great for so many different age groups!

Had a great time here for my partner's 40th. Brendan was really easy to deal with throughout the booking process, he even waited around at the venue for a balloon delivery for me. The night ran really smoothly and I felt like I barely had to do anything on the night. All the guests had a great time. Would definitely recommend the venue.

This is one of my favourite venues in Sydney. They hosted a recent function for me and the experience, food, and drink was nothing short of exceptional. Brendan, the owner, is reliable, flexible and friendly to deal with. Couldn't recommend more highly!

Absolutely LOVE Tatler! I held my birthday & brand launch party here with 30 guests and we had an amazing time. In the lead up, Brendan was super friendly and professional, helping me plan and feel reassured that it would turn out great. We ordered shots ahead of time to hand out once all guests arrived and I also gave out gift bags as people trickled out. The cocktails and bartenders were fab! We especially loved the groovy music and the dance floor had cool light effects projected on the wall. Outdoor patio was spacious, perfect for taking photos and getting some fresh air. Thanks so much, we’ll definitely be back soon! :)

Yelp
I came here last night after my friend's 30th birthday in the Rocks. I've been here twice now and had two very different experiences. The first time, I shared a bottle of wine in the back little courtyard area. It was a pretty chill night and a great experience. The bar is super cool - almost like an underground dungeon like area. The second time was last night. It was totally packed and their background courtyard are was closed - probably because we were there very late. Everyone was dancing, but I ended up leaving because I hated the music. Not sure what it is like on a typical night, but it was full on trance music. Worth a try, just depends on the music their playing and how many people they have in that night.

Yelp
Hidden on the corner of Darlinghurst road you could very easily walk past this hole in the wall and not know it was there... but if by chance you see a bunch of uber cool hotties walking through a hidden door, you've probably stumbled across Tatlers... Hidden down some stairs you'll find a bar and a dance floor which plays home to bands, DJ's and grovie hipsters. Tatlers always has an excellent vibe - it used to be tres popular a few years ago... and the fuss has died down since then , but you'll still find it packed on a Saturday night.... A great place to go if you feel like having a dance and letting loose...

Yelp
What a cool little place! It's definitely one that you could blink and miss if you walk down the street, but luckily as we walked past we could make out the sounds of music from down the stairs. There are plenty of comfy couches if you want to settle in for the evening, but there's also a great outdoor courtyard to hang out in as well as a music room where the DJ is set up. It wasn't crowded on a Saturday night at 11 which is a bit questionable for being in such a hopping area of town, but quite frankly I think it's just an undiscovered gem and you get the feeling from being in the bar that the owners are likely to have the mentality of "we're not going to whore ourselves out to get people in here, we're cool enough that if people find us then great but if not their loss." Definitely will be back!

Yelp
One of my favorite bars for dancing in the city. 9/10 times it just the right amount of crowded and the beats are great. Never too long of a wait at the bar either. During summer on week nights it's nice to have a drink out on the patio too. Good for date, dancing and good vibes.

Yelp
Having lived in Sydney for most of my life I'm quite surprised to say it was my first trip to Tatlers the other night, a small club and live music venue located on Darlinghurst road in the Cross. If you've never been there before it's a little difficult to find, a small doorway and a minute rectangular sign above it are the only way to identify you've come to the right place. Though once you're in and have descended the staircase to the welcoming venue below, you're sure not to forget it. A small carpeted area with tables is the first room on your right and is also where the bar is located, there are then another two rooms, the first room usually being where the musicians play and an outside deck area with some seating and tables. The night my wife and I went was a Wednesday. There was a live band playing and afterwards a live jam session for musicians, luckily the crowd was older than your typical right out of school crowd looking to booze it up at Soho or World bar at the Cross, with a mix of musicians and what seemed to be regulars. Apart from being a little left out of the clique that seemed to have formed amongst the muso's, the night was alot of fun. A lot of soulful tunes, dancing, some jamming and improvising too by the musicians. Definitely coming back here, a really fun night out.
