How to Plan the Perfect Ski Trip to Zell am See, Austria

"A spa experience recalled as perhaps the most “freeing” activity of the stay: the facility offers saunas, steam rooms and both indoor and outdoor pools for unwinding, and visitors are warned that "the majority of the space is fully nude. In fact, you're not allowed to enter with swimwear on, so just be ready to let it all hang out. And after a few minutes in the heat, I promise you won't even notice." - Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca is an award-winning journalist and co-founder of Be a Travel Writer, an online course for the next generation of travel journalists. We booked the RELAX Wellness De Luxe. Absolutely amazing. Highly recommend. Such a beautiful place. There are so many pools to choose from, as well as numerous saunas and solariums. The views were fantastic, especially from the infinity pool on the roof. We had a snack in the restaurant at lunch, which was nice, very reasonably priced, but we had €15 each to spend which we got with the package. Everywhere was clean and staff friendly and helpful. At the end of the day we had a 6 course taster meal. All I am going to say is WOW. The food was phenomenal. Mitchell quality is an understatement. Chef Christof Schernthanter was amazing. When each course was served chef came out and explained what the dish was and where the food was from. All the food was sourced locally. Big shout out to the Matradee who was also made us feel welcome. |Can not recommend thisnplace highly enough. 5 stars does not do it justice.

We spent four nights at the Tauern Spa in Zell am See and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay. The hotel itself is large, modern, and thoughtfully designed, offering a sense of space and comfort from the moment you arrive. Our room was spacious and well-appointed, with a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains that made waking up each morning a pleasure. One of the standout features of the hotel is its expansive spa area. There’s a wide variety of pools, saunas, and relaxation zones, both indoors and outdoors, which means you can always find a quiet corner to unwind or simply enjoy the panoramic Alpine scenery. The atmosphere throughout the spa is peaceful and inviting, perfect for those seeking a true escape. We opted for the half-board package, which included both breakfast and dinner each day. The food was excellent – breakfasts were generous with plenty of fresh options, and dinners featured a delicious selection of dishes, all beautifully prepared and presented. The staff in the restaurant and throughout the hotel were friendly and attentive, contributing to a very relaxing experience. The setting of the Tauern Spa, with its fantastic views of the mountains and natural surroundings, adds another level of appeal. Whether lounging by the pool or sitting on our balcony, the scenery was simply stunning and created a sense of being completely immersed in nature. All in all, the Tauern Spa is a wonderful place for anyone looking for a luxurious and restful getaway in the Austrian Alps. We left feeling refreshed and would gladly return in the future.

Thank you for an exceptional experience. The hotel facilities are top quality, clean and comfortable and pampering. The rooms, the food, the pools, the spa. I would especially commend Dora, the waitress in the dining room - her service and attitude were outstanding. The service was excellent and always made us feel welcome. Everything exceeded expectations. We will definitely be coming back, we will plan our route according to a stay at your hotel. Thank you for a wonderful time.

Given the price of the half board package we were expecting good things and we weren't disappointed.||The breakfast buffet has a good, high quality selection. The evening buffet is also excellent with plenty to choose from.||The room was good, my only criticism was that we didn't like the see through shower area. We would have preferred the toilet and shower/sink to be in the same room with proper walls around it.||The spa and swimming pools are amazing with a view over the mountains. ||What we hadn't realised is that this hotel doesn't include the Zell am See Summer card. We had assumed they did offer it given most hotels in the area do and that the spa is listed as a bonus partner offer in the app. The Guest Card that is offered instead is worthless in comparison.||Given the significant savings the Summer card offers, for this reason alone I don't think we would return again to stay at the hotel, but will certainly visit the spa again for a day when we next visit the area.

We visited a beautiful spa located in the foothills of the Taur mountains and had a fantastic experience. The facility offers a variety of pools—both indoor and outdoor—with pleasantly warm water, perfect for relaxation after hiking or just to unwind. The temperature was just right in every pool. There’s also a great kids’ corner, well-equipped to keep the little ones entertained while parents enjoy some quiet time. Everything was clean, modern, and well-maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall, a wonderful place to relax in a stunning natural setting—highly recommended!

A Beautiful Hotel Surrounded by Nature – But Disappointed by Inconsistent Restaurant Policy We were truly impressed by the beauty of this hotel. Its surroundings are absolutely breathtaking – nestled in nature, offering peace, quiet, and stunning views. The infinity pool and the panoramic sauna are simply exceptional and provide a luxurious way to relax and unwind. However, I must express disappointment regarding my experience at the hotel restaurant. While my partner was already seated and dining, I returned to the room briefly to get my phone. When I came back, the restaurant manager refused to let me in because of my footwear. I was wearing semi-closed sandals – not flip-flops – and had already been seated without issue earlier by a colleague of his. What was most upsetting was the inconsistent enforcement of this rule. I saw at least 10 other guests wearing similar or even more open footwear, yet only I was denied entry. I had to sneak back in just to rejoin my wife. It felt personal and unfair, and frankly, it ruined what should have been a lovely evening. To future guests – enjoy the location, the spa, and the ambiance. But be aware that the restaurant dress code may be enforced arbitrarily. Bon appétit.

What a magnificent hotel, surrounded by incredible nature. The accommodation and spa experience were truly amazing! Even though the restaurant's variety was very satisfying, you could clearly see the unhappiness on the staff's faces. Generally speaking, it's one of the few hotels I'd definitely go back to multiple times.

Really felt misled. We did not stay at the hotel. But we kept seeing all the ads and advertising about this place and they all show this infinity pool with the panorama view. Sadly, their waterworld AND spa world does NOT include that. It was exclusive to the guests staying at the hotel. Also, it smelled like urine near the grotto. Just be aware if you get this day pass, it will not get you that view you see on their photos.
