TAUERN SPA Zell am See - Kaprun

We were in the Spa but slightly disapointed experience: quite common water park like elsewhere in Europe. Water warm but no thermal or mineral. You always need to wait for attraction 20 mins when they start again. Towel is not included in the price which is preety high 55€ to the service. The flagship: the roof top pool is only for the hotel guests. The sauna ceremonie was OK but quite cold.

What initially led me to travel to Austria and Hungary for 10 days was seeing photos and videos of the Tauern Spa. It’s no exaggeration to say that I planned this entire trip just to stay here. Thanks to the stunning scenery, convenient facilities, and friendly staff, I had a wonderful time. However, my dinner experience was not so great. First, there was an issue with our assigned server's attitude. Throughout the meal, he was sarcastic and flippant, showing a lack of professionalism. We communicated in English, and the server's use of informal phrases like "Happy?" instead of proper sentences made me feel uncomfortable. This kind of behavior was inappropriate for a dinner with even a minimal dress code. Since we don't speak German and the surrounding tables all had German speakers, I'm not sure if the server spoke to them in the same way, but it certainly didn't feel like it. I don't usually feel that someone's attitude is a matter of racism, but in this case, it was so unpleasant that it felt like it. We had planned to enjoy some beer in our room later, so we didn't intend to order any drinks with dinner. When we told our server this, he seemed quite confused and disappointed, repeatedly questioning us and making us feel awkward. Our table was also quite wobbly, which was distracting. We mentioned this to the server, but the first time he said he was too busy, and the second time he said he would fix it, but no action was taken. We had booked dinner for two nights, and after the first night, my partner and I hoped that we wouldn't have the same server the next day. We were very disappointed when it was the same person. The second reason the dinner experience wasn't great was the taste, but that was a minor issue compared to the server's attitude. Everything else was wonderful. Even when our travel plans were disrupted by the weather, it didn’t matter at all thanks to this accommodation. In fact, we were happy to have more time to enjoy this fantastic hotel. With its breathtaking views, large and diverse spa pools, and comfortable, clean rooms, it’s a place I truly want to visit again. I had a great time in a wonderful place. I hope that when I return, the issues I mentioned will have been addressed, making for an even better experience. Thank you for this wonderful hotel.

Super hotel and ski resort, it has basically all you need for a holiday with the kids. The rooms are spacious and clean, the food was great and diversified and the staff very friendly. Big marks especially for Lily and her delicious omelettes and Zsofia for her patience and profesionalism.

Beautiful hotel with amazing views, and very friendly staff. The spa is also great and offers a relaxing experience without the crowds you find in larger spas. Unfortunately, we had issues with the cleanliness of our room and with the restaurant service. When we first entered the room and went to put our clothes in the drawers, we found a girl's dirty underwear in one of the drawers, along with hairs in the bathroom. I reported this to reception and was told it would be removed and the room cleaned, but the underwear remained there until the end of our stay. During checkout, I asked why nothing had been done and received only a dismissive apology. The restaurant has amazing food, but the service was quite weak. We ordered water at the start of dinner, but it arrived only toward the end of the meal. When we wanted to sign and leave, we couldn’t find anyone to help and had to approach the hostess at the entrance. I gave a low rating because I expected a hotel of this level to deliver a much higher standard of basic service.

We booked the RELAX Wellness De Luxe. Absolutely amazing. Highly recommend. Such a beautiful place. There are so many pools to choose from, as well as numerous saunas and solariums. The views were fantastic, especially from the infinity pool on the roof. We had a snack in the restaurant at lunch, which was nice, very reasonably priced, but we had €15 each to spend which we got with the package. Everywhere was clean and staff friendly and helpful. At the end of the day we had a 6 course taster meal. All I am going to say is WOW. The food was phenomenal. Mitchell quality is an understatement. Chef Christof Schernthanter was amazing. When each course was served chef came out and explained what the dish was and where the food was from. All the food was sourced locally. Big shout out to the Matradee who was also made us feel welcome. |Can not recommend thisnplace highly enough. 5 stars does not do it justice.

Visited the spa on a sunny day. The pools are spacious, the facilities immaculate, and the views outstanding. However, the staff - both at the front desk and within the spa - were exceptionally rude, as several other guests have already mentioned. I had hoped my experience would be different, but despite greeting them warmly, their attitude remained discourteous and dismissive. Staff training on basic courtesy is clearly needed. At this price point, it would be difficult to find another hotel anywhere in Europe where guests are made to feel like an inconvenience. The Spa itself is very good, but the overall experience is disappointing, and leaves me with no desire to come back again.

We spent four nights at the Tauern Spa in Zell am See and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay. The hotel itself is large, modern, and thoughtfully designed, offering a sense of space and comfort from the moment you arrive. Our room was spacious and well-appointed, with a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains that made waking up each morning a pleasure. One of the standout features of the hotel is its expansive spa area. There’s a wide variety of pools, saunas, and relaxation zones, both indoors and outdoors, which means you can always find a quiet corner to unwind or simply enjoy the panoramic Alpine scenery. The atmosphere throughout the spa is peaceful and inviting, perfect for those seeking a true escape. We opted for the half-board package, which included both breakfast and dinner each day. The food was excellent – breakfasts were generous with plenty of fresh options, and dinners featured a delicious selection of dishes, all beautifully prepared and presented. The staff in the restaurant and throughout the hotel were friendly and attentive, contributing to a very relaxing experience. The setting of the Tauern Spa, with its fantastic views of the mountains and natural surroundings, adds another level of appeal. Whether lounging by the pool or sitting on our balcony, the scenery was simply stunning and created a sense of being completely immersed in nature. All in all, the Tauern Spa is a wonderful place for anyone looking for a luxurious and restful getaway in the Austrian Alps. We left feeling refreshed and would gladly return in the future.

Overall I was very happy with my stay at Tauern spa and Hotel. I had been to this spa before but not stayed in the hotel and this was an anniversary trip for my husband and I. The attention to detail on the food ensuring I could eat was great and the restaurant manager was friendly and attentive. What would have made the trip even more special would be a glass of fizz on arrival or in our room as most of the hotels I've stayed in have added this extra touch with a bottle or glass. In the restaurant I would say our waiter had a bad smell and our experience would have been more pleasant, if he had addressed this. My suggestion would be for him to use deodorant etc. The water temperature for my husband was a little cold and perhaps colder than when I previously visited in March. It would be great to offer a pool with a temperature of 37 38 degrees like some thermal spas do. Loved the hotel spa and panoramic pool.
