REPLY TO ESTABLISHMENT: We were literally the only table there at 7:30 PM, maybe that says something. The “live music” was painful to sit through, and frankly, John’s Drive-In is way better, way cheaper, and actually knows how to treat customers with respect and good service. You claim fries are $5, but our table was charged $12 EACH for individual sides, not a share size. So which is it? Your pricing is inconsistent and misleading. As for the $12 protein add-on: slapping a “Montauk rent” excuse on it is pathetic. PAY YOUR STAFF fairly without gouging customers to cover your overhead. That’s your responsibility, not ours. Be a better business. Overpriced, underwhelming, and rude; won’t be back, and I’ll make sure everyone I know avoids this place too. Tauk at Trails End is an absolute rip-off. $12 for a side of fries? Another $12 just to add protein to a salad? That’s $24 before you’ve even had a real meal. Nothing makes sense on this menu, which, by the way, has zero descriptions, so you’re blindly ordering overpriced food. They charged me $4 for a side of generic Hidden Valley ranch and tried to pass it off as something special. When I tried to return a dish I never even touched, they flat-out refused to take it off the bill. The greed here is unbelievable. I left hungry, annoyed, and with a stomachache. This place is all hype, no quality, and a complete scam. Never again.

Very disappointed! We sat at the bar during happy hours but the drinks were full price. The lobster roll which cost $38 dollars was very small, chewy and more like a lobster slider. Not worth it!

Google
This is a MUST visit place! Everything was more than perfect! The staff, service, food, vibes! So cozy, friendly and just bring you positivity.. We had Sweet potatoes, stuffed jalapenos, buffalo wings, and burger... Literally, all the food was SO GOOD and highly recommended, especially the stuffed jalapenos, it is such a special plate that you don't find everywhere. The place is just full of energy and everything is presented with love. Don't miss it!

Google
This was our second visit in a week. Don't be fooled by its outside appearance because the kitchen turns out amazing dishes at very fair prices. We sat outside on a beautiful evening for an experience we won't quickly forget.

Google
First time dining here...very very simple place. The menu wasn't anything crazy basic food.Waitress was very nice. Husband ordered fish and chips...he was not a fan of them.He said the cod actually tasted a little funny, which was very disappointing considering we are out in montauk.Ijust had the nachos as a meal. Very nice portion, very simple nachos.Place was clean for the most part.Good for a quick bite, food was nothing special.

Google
Amazing food. Sweet waitresses Payton. Fresh steak and salad. Delicious fish tacos. Grateful to a restaurant wanting to better the community and bring unique sweet live music. I highly recommend siting at the high tables outside. I'm coming back for more live music and savory food and drinks.

Google
It's a great local spot in the Hamptons. The food is delicious, and the drinks are spot on. Live music on select days.

Google
Food was delicious and great service! Drinks were amazing too. Will definitely be back next time we vacation in Montauk.

Yelp
Nice bar/ restaurant in town. I mostly visit montauk off season so dining gets limited. I stopped in one night and it was all locals singing karaoke. The menu looked good even though my choice was ok ( French dip ) cold beers and nice people.

Yelp
We called the restaurant for reservations and sat inside around 7-7:30. The restaurant has a kids menu but the pastas were that appealing. It was spaghetti with tomato sauce dumped on it. However, my other kid loved their chicken tenders. I ordered an assortment of items including their famous clam chowder. The chowder wasn't great - more potatoes than clams and tons of bacon - more a bacon chowder in my opinion. And the clams didn't taste fresh so I might have ordered the least popular item on the menu. We did get the clams in white sauce which was very good! The clams were fresh and huge! We had no problem finishing them. Overall, it felt more like a table set up in a newly painted room with a bar off to the side. But I did see the outdoor space so I might have chose incorrectly as the patio was set up lovely with heaters and live music. I do give many kudos to our server who was the person that seated us and waited on us. The other wait staff seemed to be gossiping and in their own worlds.

Yelp
The nicest owner/bouncer Michael (unsure which??) and a great spot with a live band! Cute set up outside with very reasonable priced food in Montauk. The prime rib was delish and the onion rings were fire. Everyone should go here!!

Yelp
This place's rating isn't indicative of how good it is. There's a reason that it's been around for so long. The inside is a little dive-bar vibe which I personally never mind, but the outside eating area is so so cute and dog friendly. Our drinks were delicious - if you like banana get the banana piña colada drink. We started with the fritto misto which was great - fried calamari, banana peppers and zucchini - as well as the baked clams which were out of this world. The filling was unbelievable (I think there was bacon and red pepper) and I wish I ordered them for dinner. I also ordered the clam chowder which was delicious - it has potato, bacon, pepper, ugh it was SO GOOD. For dinner I had the cold lobster roll which was great, you can never really go wrong with it. Some others had the lobster pasta which they liked, the lobster grilled cheese which was amazing and filling and the scallops which the bartender recommended and she was 100% right that they are amazing. Overall I'm sad it took us so long to try tauk but soooo happy we know how good it is now!!!

Yelp
Great spot w live music at night. Food was very good and same w service. Fun time there.

Yelp
After reading all the good reviews, we gave this place a try. It's more of a dive bar than a restaurant. The place smells of stale beer. Our server was pleasant & did what she could to help. I had the Crabmeat stuffed flounder. The fish on top was like shoe leather & inedible. The stuffing wasn't bad, but not what I'd expected. Mashed potatoes were good & the veg was average. My husband had the Seafood Fra Diavolo. This was enormous! It wasn't bad, but somewhat bland. The one mussel I tasted was super fishy. $90 for a sub-par meal. Boooo

Yelp
This is a hot spot for locals I noticed. Everybody knows each other, great vibe! The food so fresh. Live music on Mondays with what has to be the hottest band in town. I had so much fun. Service was on point too! 5 stars hands down!
google avatar

Sean G.

Yelp
Came Monday night for the live music. Had some beer. I have no idea if the food is any good. The scene was Montauk locals. A little hippie. Good vibes.... Music was great.
google avatar

Alina G.

Yelp
Friendly service, one of the co-owners makes his rounds and chats with every table. Unfortunately food is horrid. Expensive too! Out of the the things we tried, Montauk oysters were fresh Calamari and crab cake turned out tasteless and over fried. Their mains should be skipped all together. My fish was so overdone there was nothing to eat. My husband got a sandwich but the meat was like rubber. The restaurant uses ton of fillers vs real ingredients. I will not be back and neither should you!
google avatar

Daniel L.

Yelp
Amazing food and drinks, but more importantly, the owner and staff are incredible humans! So friendly and they make your Montauk vacation feel like home.

RJ D.

Yelp
A little deceiving at first. When you walk in and or sit outside you kind of think your in a typical see shanty where everything is fried and your going to drink schlitz beer. But not so! The menu was deceptively different and we sat out side and the food was excellent. We ordered the mahi mahi tacos which were excellent, also the scallops were perfectly done with a lot of risotto with it, and the lobster Mac and cheese which was rich beyond belief. Also the ribs appetizer are crazy tender and can't be picked up because they are so tender. Top that off with the owner checking in on every table and it was a good experience. Only slight nit was that the food came out really fast. We were done in 30 min. Would have liked to stretch it out more.
google avatar

Lindsay K.

Yelp
If I could give 3.5/5 I would. Food was good. The flounder sandwich was the star. I thought it was a much better value than most other things on the menu. This place was cute but definitely over priced. The mussels were okay, the sauce was yummy. A little salty. The sandwich was really good!! I wouldn't have thought to put cheese on it but it worked. It was cooked perfectly and the fries were crispy. I would definitely eat the food again but wouldn't come out of my way to come back. Luckily it's one of the few places still open in the winter!! That's how we ended up here.

Larry E.

Yelp
Great laid back atmosphere, live music great food & service. We had a plate of clams on the 1/2 shell, lobster stuffed Flounder and Blackened Tuna. All excellent with the local Montauk Pilsner and the NY Yankees & Mets on the big screens.
google avatar

Cindy S.

Yelp
Great specials and friendly service. Love this place so welcoming! I've had a great time every time I stop by. Looking forward to checking out the live music.

Yelp
Decided to come here to celebrate my 30th birthday. Was seated right away with only a few tables occupied. Around 6pm. Service was super nice and made us laugh the entire time. Very nice and clean inside to have a intimate setting or just chill at the bar. Started out with the clam chowder which was packed with flavor and loaded with meat. Little crackers on top and you're living. I can see being at the bar and getting this with a beer for sure. The crab stuffed flounder was next and my god... The flounder wasn't too fishy and cut like butter. The crab on top was dressed in this red sauce and it was so good I mixed it into the potatoes on the side. It was the special so I'm not sure how often they have it. The chicken sandwich was "so good" that my girlfriend had. It was a spicy mayo sauce on it which made the sandwich for sure. Fresh cut fries and done well always a big plus for us. With a margarita on the side to wash it down. 10/10 Tauk's

Erica T.

Yelp
Great food! Live music! Loved my lobster roll, homemade Bloody Mary, and lots of mussels.
google avatar

Caroline D.

Yelp
I love visiting Tauk's when I'm in town! The best thing on the menu is their lobster grilled cheese on Texas toast which rivals all of the lobster rolls nearby. They also have local beer on tap and will have live music playing from time to time.

Yelp
My friend and I were having a short three day trip in Montauk during the Jewish holidays, unfortunately most of the places weren't open since it wasn't the high season of tourism yet. We struggled to find a place for lunch until we discovered Tauk. We decided to go with the most typical lobster roll, about half of a lobster was finely chopped and stuffed inside a bun that was perfectly grilled with butter, paired with a bunch of deep fried golden fries that were definitely hand cut and fried based on their appearance. There were almost no other customers at the restaurant again that hour, the owner started talking to us about his previous experiences, how he trained in the military and worked in Southeast Asia before. It was very interested to listen to and definitely an unforgettable experience in Montauk.
google avatar

Terry D.

Yelp
This place was nice. The outdoor seating was beautiful and there was live music which was a great touch. We got seated right away, but didn't get served for quite some time. The restaurant seemed to be short staffed though so it's not their fault. The waitresses and servers were all very kind. The food for the price we paid was just ok. I had chicken added to the pasta primavera and for $36, the dish barely had any flavor. And the $38 lobster pasta didn't have a lot of lobster in it either. We did really enjoy the shrimp over risotto cake so I guess the items on the menu are hit or miss.

Yelp
Excellent service. Yummy food. Good size portion. Live music. Big outdoor dining. Would definitely come again.

Yelp
Such a great Resturante, Dog friendly on the patio, and a super attentive staff made for a great overall experience. And the food was phenomenal!

Cara R.

Yelp
Love this place! 10/10 recommend and will now be a new montauk hotspot for me ! Really a big fan of the French dip and chicken sandwich but all of the food was wonderful. Also the owner, Michael is a gem!
google avatar

Yelp
this place is sooo We got the lobster pasta, clam chowder, mixed veggies and fish tacos. Everything was amazing ... even as take out
google avatar

Prianka S.

Yelp
This restaurant has a really nice outdoor seating area by the downtown Montauk area. There is parking as well which is very convenient. The service was nice and quick. I got the crab cakes and the Montauk Pilsner and my boyfriend got the Montauk juicy IPA. Loved the beers and the crab cakes tasted good too. Really happy with my experience here.

Bill M.

Yelp
Great food, service and a bonus - live music on Monday. We were visiting and made to feel very welcome at this busy local spot.
google avatar

K. L.

Yelp
We were visiting from the California desert area. We were welcomed here like family when we rolled in late at night after landing five hours delayed. They were like a breath of fresh air. I was just happy to get my kids fed and the deep-fried Oreos topped off the night for us! Can't wait to do it again! We will see you guys next summer.!
google avatar

Eric M.

Yelp
Nice surprise. We had the clam chowder, the lobster butter roll and fries...all solid. The Lobster was super sweet and tasty. And Dave is a very entertaining and took very good care of us.
google avatar

Yelp
Been going here for years not sure how i have not left a review yet. Great food, cant go wrong with anything on menu. Beach atmosphere & clean inside, outside set up when they have a band. Very cool & relaxed. Owner very friendly always looking to chat & take care of you. This is a must if your in Montauk.

R A.

Yelp
Very disappointing dinner experience. Little fresh or seasonal ingredients are utilized; mostly fillers such as mayonnaise and cabbage. I had a lobster roll. In order for it to look full and appealing, they put a ton of cabbage on the bottom of the roll and sprinkled it with bits of lobster. Who does that? French fries were cold and I was charged extra for the side! Live music was horrid and staff does not speak English which made placing an order or inquiring about specials so much more difficult ( not that they had any specials LOL ) I will not be back!
google avatar

Michael N.

Yelp
An enduring classic in a town where the expiration date on trendy eateries is yesterday. Locally sourced seafood and excellent steaks mingle with tacos and burgers making any decision on the menu a brutally fun bounty. No reservations and it's come as you are, although a shower would probably be appreciated. If you want to see and be seen, there are countless alternatives where preening is encouraged. If you goal is a spectacular dinner without the props and costuming there's no need to look any further. Tauk is an easy five stars.
google avatar

Cece M.

Yelp
Where do I even begin! We had the BEST private event at TAUK for my husbands 50th birthday. From start to finish the food was beyond what we expected, the staff was wonderful and Michael was so easy to work with. The drinks never stopped flowing and the place was super clean. We felt like family right away and look forward to doing more events in the future. We will be back! The Murphy Family
google avatar

Ali R.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch. Expected the food to be tastier than it was. Lobster bisque was more like tomato soup, the clam chowder was just ok. The bacon flavor was really strong. Calamari was greasy. Lobster cheese melt was extremely heavy but as expected. Fries were nothing to write home about. The Blue Moon beer was perfect tho!! Ice cold and refreshing!!!
google avatar

Yelp
I am thankful for restaurants like Tauk for operating under the duress of Covid and doing it in a great manner. So in spite of the extra costs and pressure to arrange the tables maintaining social distancing and keeping to cleanliness guidelines They give you a spectacular dining experience. We ate outdoors in the late afternoon or early evening in what was once their front parking lot. Tables appropriately spaced and comfortably back from the road and traffic heading north from the circle. Face masks on all the staff who made us feel very welcome. We had lobster rolls and a couple of Montauk beers. Thick delicious lobster pieces and cold beer can make you forget or at least ignore the troubles of the world for a while. Go, enjoy, and live well.

Yelp
Montauk during the off season is a totally different vibe than during the summer. All of the folks that live in town all year are out and about (not overshadowed by tourists), and it really feels like a village. That being said hardly anything is open but we'll be returning to Tauk regardless of the season, because it was absolutely delicious. The bartender and server working were amazing and instantly made us feel like locals. I'm not sure what I was expecting food wise, but I was quite actually shocked at how good it was. The short ribs were truly some of the best I've EVER had. Really just a wonderful, gracious and welcoming experience. The house got packed for live music and the vibes were truly outstanding. Price points were solid and the atmosphere was super casual. I'll be listing after that shortrib for quite some time.

Maria T.

Yelp
Service was good (it was empty) . Restaurant was clean and nice. Food.... For the east end I expect fresh seafood. baked clams tasted like they have been frozen, there was no sign of clam. all breading. wings- they were wings. nothing to write home about. husband had sea bass special- he said it was good. I had the lobster roll which IMO did not appear fresh. a lot of shredded pieces mixed with small pieces of lobster. In my experience when I get a fresh (warm) lobster roll it's literally a roll and lobster. this had seasoning and celery which made me feel like they were masking the fact that the lobster was not fresh.
google avatar

Amit M.

Yelp
Great spot to kick back and grab drinks. There's a pretty big outdoor area in the parking lot, so it's perfect for COVID circumstances. They have a full bar and plenty of beers on tap, including a couple beers from Montauk brewery. Food wise, the crab cakes are pretty good.

Lisa M.

Yelp
Great mussels in white wine and garlic. Conveniently located right in town. Very pleasant waitstaff.

Carole P.

Yelp
Delicious dinner at TAUK! From burgers, tacos to scallops and stuffed flounder, everything was well made and fresh. Our waitress, Maria was courteous and knowledgeable. Fun looking bar and comfy vibe. Will definitely come back.
google avatar

Linda D.

Yelp
Service was not good. Waiter took forever to come over. Meantime the owner was bSing with another server for a while, where he should have said go to that table. When our server finally came, he never told us there were specials. We heard another server telling the table next to us. The mussels were good. They came out cold, but had flavor. The clams were good and hot. Paper plates, napkins blowing all over the place. When we were leaving, the owner practically walkied into me, you think he'd say "thank you for coming" no acknowledgment whatsoever. Next time I visit here, I will not be coming here I gave them a 3 for the food.

Karen M.

Yelp
New England clam chowder was amazing!! The mussels were fantastic!! I would definitely recommend this place. Our waitress was very nice.
google avatar

Marty S.

Yelp
After many years finally got a seat. Sat outside.pleasent staff. Had whole fried Sea Bass.Really fresh very tasty

Yelp
Atmosphere: Outdoor dining only due to COVID. Can have a long wait, plan accordingly. Food: Appetizers were great all around -- steamed clams should definitely be a lock though! I had the lobster grilled cheese and my fiancee had the scallops (not pictured). The lobster grilled cheese is an absolute homerun. It is super rich, super decadent, and super hardy. You won't be disappointed with this. If you're looking for lighter fare, the scallops should be on your radar. They were cooked perfectly and came with a nice risotto. Consider ordering the BBC frozen cocktail -- it is off the hook. Service: We loved our waitress. She was attentive, personable, and super accommodating. Took the initiative in offering refills and giving suggestions for menu items.
google avatar

Jay M.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere, love the outdoor seating, service was prompt and very friendly. Only downside we had was of the dozen oysters we got- over half of them had a lot of shell fragments in them, one we didn't eat the shell was totally cracked they were in a tray of mostly melted ice and were not very cold. The dinner entrees (fish tacos, veggie burger & chicken tenders kids meal) were great! Loved the music and live music was starting when we were leaving. I would go back for sure, just wanted to note the oysters.. maybe pass on those.
google avatar

Anna B.

Yelp
French onion soup: all salt. Like one pound. Clam chowder: salty Grilled Romain: unidentifiable oil soaked Romain lettuce Pasta primavera: some oil and garlic tossed with dry spaghetti and some vegetables and a few pieces of cheese. No sauce. $20! Apple crisp: extremely dry Service: fine. Coming back? NOPE

Yelp
Can't come to MTK and not come here. Food is always great. Service is amazing! Right in the heart of MTK. 7 min walk to the beach. This place is a gem. Fish and chips are a must!

Yelp
After a long, five hour drive to visit my sister in Montauk, all my friends and I wanted to do was grab food. Tauk was the first place my sister took us to grab some brunch. It's a little, cute place to eat. The interior and decorations are really cute. There's indoor and outdoor seating - we sat indoors. Four of us got mimosas/bellinis and one of us got the casamigos spicyrise. I got a watermelon bellini which was REALLY yummy. For food, I got the very berry pancakes. Even though it's only two slices, I only could eat one slice. It was really good. My sister ordered the Aussie toast. The toast was a little big but good. I really enjoyed the food and drinks here and so did all my friends. Our server, Colleen, never rushed us, recommended dishes for us, and was super friendly and kind. I really liked her service.
google avatar

Joel S.

Yelp
Nice change of pace from pretentious Hamptons restaurants. The high point of our meal was our lovely waitress. She was charming. The lobster roll was very good. The fish tacos and burgers were OK. The best thing on the menu was the perfectly cooked French fries. 3.5 stars.

Ally P.

Yelp
My family of six and I ate at Tauk last night for dinner and had a great experience. We had an outdoor table which was very nice. The food was excellent and portions extremely generous. The service was great and our server was very upbeat, friendly and patient as we decided on our orders. I liked that they have an electronic device to split the check if needed. This was my family's first visit and we'd return again. The lobster pasta was amazing and so were the nachos. Both could easily be split unless you are very hungry! My family has very diverse food interests and requirements (vegan, etc) and this was a place where there was a good choice for everyone, including my seven year old niece. It is on the pricey side but the food quality, portions, and service were worth it.

Joseph C.

Yelp
Had lunch there today, the food was amazing, baked clams, I had the hot lobster roll and my wife had the cold ... everything was excellent and the banana colada was treat!
