Amazing campground! I live on the road full time so don't usually stay at "places like this" ($$$) but figured I deserve to treat myself for a few weeks. Sadly they had a big slip on my second day there (as luck will have it haha) so the pools were closed the entire time I was there and I never got to experience them but at least I walked down there on my first night to see it and it looked amazing. I never used the kitchen but it looked massive and spotless. The bathrooms have heated floors throughout and was in mint condition no matter when you used the facilities. Nice music playing in the background which I liked. Timed showers but I never had it cut off so not sure how long it is. Nice big new washing machines and dryers (Dryers do take a while to dry your clothes but I mean that is the norm so I simply added enough coins) It was probably due to the pools being closed but the few weeks I was there it was mainly just me and one other caravan there most of the time, so it was so nice and quiet. The sites are MASSIVE and each of them closed off with neatly trimmed hedges, your own bin, and even your own water connection. Staff were super friendly, always stopped to say hi and pet Victoria.

I stayed for a couple of nights in my van on a powered site. Nice quiet place, not too busy. Great clean facilities. Bathrooms are uni-sex and you need a code to use them. Works nicely. Hot showers, spacious sinks etc. Only 5 min drive to town and you get a discount for using the hot pools.

Unit we stayed in was clean but needed some TLC as quite sparse. Bed was uncomfortable and bathroom short on toiletries just a half empty bottles of body wash in shower and sink area. Heat pump kept lounge warm but no heating in either bedroom as it was the middle of winter we are glad we packed some wool blankets. Nice large screen tv kept our two grandsons happy along with the bouncy pillow area. We paid a reasonable winter rate but wouldn’t pay what they charge at peak season.

A beautiful amazing stay experience. Service was 10/10 with the most friendliest staff. The pools top off our wonderful experience. The rooms were clean and had all the amenities needed. Could not fault anything!!

The room needs to be updated. Old building & dirty carpet & bed. Need to walk 200 meters to the pool is not acceptable in the cold winter. There’s no car can directly access near the pools. We have to walk a steep driveway up and down to get to the pools. The changing room is liked a public toilet with no changing facilities like lockers. Pools are so dated with rusty pipes showing. Overall not worth it for USD95 a night.

Just spent night in our MH. It was our 1st stay here, powered sites are well laid out and facilities are good. Cost was $74/night for 2 persons which excessive especially as off season. Another negative was the unisex toilet/shower blocks, as in my opinion not ideal if you like your privacy, or if you have kids and have safety concerns for them.

Our stay at DeBretts, was a pleasure from start to finish. The staff made us feel welcomed, and explained everything we needed to know, to us. The Chalet was warm, ( even though the temp dropped to -3 overnight), and the bed was really comfortable, with plenty of pillows. The bathroom was large, as well. Plus we got discounted hot pool and slide tickets.

First of all, the accommodation suited our needs perfect. It was a place to stay, somewhere we could have the car with us and we could access Taupō. The staff were also very friendly and the overall presentation of the site was well kept. The shower block and toilets were okay, relatively clean and quite modern, again satisfied our needs. The room itself was a little dated. We had a double, and a bunk, a small table and a kitchenette. We also had two leather chairs and a heat pump / ac, plus a large TV. The bed was super comfy and clean. The rest of the room looked a little tired such as the curtains, chairs and carpet. We could also slightly hear the other guests in the room that adjoined to ours. The only other issue is that some of the site is currently under construction/renovation and so we didn’t even attempt to use the hot pools. (I believe there’s only one pool available currently)

Yelp
Turned up to find that house keeping had only remade current bedding from previous rooms occupants. Family bbq areas where taped off and the larger of the 3 slides out of action. They will weigh you in front of everyone at the gates if you want to ride the slides you need to weigh UNDER 90kg. I would recommend staying somewhere else and coming for hot pools as a day trip.

Yelp
(Review from 2017) Go. Just go. This place is awesome. Got kids? They will love the slides, splash pad,and lounging with floaters. No kids? Even better! We spent three hours between the main pool, the water slides, the splash pad. I had to drag my husband here and now he recommend it to all our friends who visit Taupo. Seriously - if you love laying in the sun and hanging out - its a must!

Yelp
I thought it was well priced, $22 for 45mins in a private pool then use of the main facilities. My only complaint was that the changing rooms were a bit run down.

Yelp
This was recommended from our airbnb host. We went on our last day in New Zealand. There are 2 hot water pools. It's green because it has not been treated with chlorine. It's not recommended for you to dunk your head in it. There are signs. There are 2 normal pools, 1 hot tub, a kid zone, and 3 water slides. My family decided to come here because of the water slides. It was cold when we went to New Zealand and it was a relief to finally hang out in warm water. The water slides are heated, but aren't ridiculously hot so you can slide in warmth. The slides are a lot of fun, even for my 50+ dad. You can buy an all day pass to use the resort for $20 and if you want to use the slides, it's an additional $6. I thought this was a great deal especially since they close at 9pm. We were hoping to hang out there for a couple of hours late morning, grab lunch, then come back. We didn't end up coming back, unfortunately. It was a lot of fun and a great place for families.

Yelp
Very old and tired location. Pools were green and fairly dirty, not kept up like it should be. Maybe it was nice in its day back in the past, but that time has come and gone. Hotel was also dreadful, stains on bed sheets, stains on carpet, no toilet paper in restroom, very old and in need of upgrades throughout. Customer services was also a joke. No one helped us at check in for almost 10 minutes, no one at the desk, and employees just kept walking by without even an hello since they knew they didn't want to help i guess, place was a total let down , please avoid at all costs!!

Yelp
The two thermal pools are so warm, as warm as an exploding sun. There is one cooler pool and a warm bubbly spa. The heated water slides where extra extraordinary there was one dragon slide and two racing slides. The dragon slide was amazing, not as fast as the racing slides but more turny. At the end of the dragon slide there is a warm pool you fall into. There are two racing slides one orange and the other blue. The orange one you can't see at all, its pitch black. The blue one you can see through so at night you can see the neon lights so it feels like a disco slide. Both racing slides are incredibly fast! It has lovely villas with a really cool disco shower and comfortable beds. The gardens around them are pretty. The service was friendly and very helpful. There was an epic jumping pillow and a nice little playground. I had excellent french toast at the cafe and it has a great view of the wonderful Lake Taupo.
