Upon cruising into this joint for lunch, you are immediately struck by the smell of simmering sauces . Garlic, onion, olive oil, and of course a flutter of chianti, United, and forming a musical cloud that had permeated the walls and floors of this joint for many years.
My lady friend and I sat on the balcony overlooking the Tuscan countryside. Breathtaking views. Almost reminded me of the rolling hills of my old stomping ground in San Bernardino. Minus the crime . Lulz.
After ordering a bottle of chianti Classico, and sipping on it . I was imagining walking along the ancient roman aqueducts. A place like this can
Evoke such thoughts. . On to da food..
The wine was primo. At very good prices.
I started with the chicken liver over crispy polenta in kind of a gravy.. (Or I guess bechamel?) My mum used to make me fried chicken livers when I was a youngster.
This dish was so flippin good. Like a mix between my moms and a Michelin chef.
I stuck to food of the avian variety on this outing.
For a main I got the pigeon. It was wrapped in bacon. And served over toast and fig.
The pigeon was delicious. To be honest I would have preferred it without the bacon. I felt the pigeon was so perfectly cooked an seasoned. I felt the bacon tarnished it. However, I guess you could always just peel the bacon off. Oil some toast, little Parmesan, and pop the bacon on that as a dessert.
Anyways,
That was my experience at this highly recommended restaurant.
Kind regards,
