"Taverna the old perithia" Kassaris Alkinoos

Up in Old Perithia, there’s a few restaurants to choose from, all within 10 meters of each other basically. This one wasn’t too packed, but had a nice view of the hills and old buildings, so we went with it. The food was okay. It definitely felt homemade. I don’t know hoooow fresh everything was given the location of the restaurant and felt like they don’t get that many customers a day. The Rabbit Stifado was good and the rabbit was quite delicious. Very tender onions and a lot of sauce. It was nice. The Souvlaki felt a bit sad so I would say that was a miss. The salad with orange, olive, and lettuce was amazing. It was our first time trying this Corfiot salad and I would definitely recommend trying it here, or at other restaurants on the island. The other appetizer was okay. The sauce was a bit broken and it felt like it may have been microwaved lowkey.

A Hidden Gem in Old Perithia Absolutely Worth Finding! We had an unforgettable experience at The Old Perithia Taverna. From the moment we arrived, the charm of the location took our breath away. Set right in the heart of the village square, surrounded by history and mountain views, it is truly special. The food was simply outstanding, fresh, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. Every dish tasted like it was made with love and tradition. The service was equally impressive, warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making my family feel like at home. A tip for first-time visitors: there are four restaurants in this charming little village. When you arrive, pass the first ones you see and head to the left and you will find The Old Perithia Taverna. If you are visiting Corfu and want authentic Greek cuisine in a truly magical setting, make sure this is on your list. We will definitely be back.

Oldest restaurant in Corfu. Family owned. In the oldest town in Corfu. Lots of history. The food is superb. We tried saganaki, dolmadaki (leafs are picked from the grape vine canopy in the dining area!) and a traditional beef dish cooled in garlic stew. Everything was delicious. The prices are good. The service felt personal and attentive. Highly recommend eating here. One of the hidden gems of Corfu.

Unique experience in Old Perithia. We loved the grilled mushrooms, the spicy peppers, the beetroot and the local grilled sausage as starters. As mains we had the pasta with pork and beef, mixed salad and moussaka. Highly satisfied we stumbled back to our nice place in the same village. What a great place!

Amazing little place. Felt like the most authentic food we had on the island. Highly recommend the orange salad and the Briam. Loads of great veg and vegan options.

We had a very disappointing experience at Taverna The Old Perithia – Kassaris Alkinoos. The owner refused to host us simply because we came with a child. He insisted that all the tables were reserved, even when guests were leaving and tables were clearly becoming available. Strangely enough, “reserved” tables were suddenly available again — but only for couples without children. It felt unwelcoming, unfair, and frankly shocking in a place that promotes itself as a traditional family tavern. Hospitality should be about sharing good food and warm atmosphere with everyone, not about discrimination. Luckily, we walked just a few steps to the tavern next door, and it turned out to be an absolute gem — great food, warm welcome, and a true taste of Greek kindness. In the end, being turned away here was actually a blessing in disguise. If you’re traveling with family, I strongly recommend skipping this place and choosing one of the nearby tavernas instead.

Starters came in time. Food was very tasteful and not so expensive. Average price per person 15~20 €. Bills can be separated if u wish. Pay by card or cash.
