7 hidden finds in Venice’s sister islands - SilverKris

"A canalside restaurant with a relaxed garden setting where patrons can enjoy classic lagoon dishes such as spaghetti vongole and grilled seabass; the spot projects a bucolic charm that invites leisurely meals and people-watching along the water." - SilverKris

Google
Good food, good prices, and fun location. We loved the goats and Guinea pigs. Super cool handmade chairs that are surprisingly comfortable. Ordering can be a little chaotic if it’s busy and your Italian is sorely lacking (like mine). But it works out and you get food. We ended up ordering plain spaghetti with just butter for my son, who only ate half (he liked it, just not a great eater) and then we put some of the shrimp and courgette on it and that was DELICIOUS!! If we could eat that everyday we’d be happy! They used edible (thick cracker) bowls and we thought that was cool. Fun to sit in the garden and drink. I did get stung by a bee between my toes, but I was wearing sandals and walking through flowering clover. Uggh! My bad.

Google
Great place to eat! Reasonable prices, good menu choices and lovely ambience surrounded by trees! Very unique 'eco friendly' concept by providing you with edible dishes! Great experience and highly recommend this restaurant for lunch whenever you are in Torcello!

This is where Venetians hang on the weekend with their families. Simple menu, deliciously cooked, house wine on tap and lots of space for kids on a playground, too. Loved the seafood risotto, and fritto misto!

We loved eating outside and the seafood pasta was delicious! The servers were attentive. Location great!

Great place to visit on our three islands tour. Good food but be careful not to leave your food unattended or the birds will be more than happy to help themselves.

Google
An off-season and early visit will give you the quiet, comfortable, yummy experience most rave about. Affordable and great for large groups and families. As a single, I absolutely enjoyed my risotto and ensalate under the shade of olive trees. Bathrooms were clean and the crowds were mild. Then again, I visited mid-week in September before the lunch rush.

We stopped by to taste some Tocello's specialty, we asked for a fritto misto, we found a freshly ingredients and very nice person... just a little rudimentary place but with a warm atmosphere.

Google
It was really nothing special. The food didn't really look appetizing & was basically out in 35° heat. The water & beer were just slightly chilled. Very haphazardly organized.

Yelp
This is a very relaxed place with some indoor seating but tons of outside seating in a large garden with a goat enclosure at the end. It's self service - you order at the bar and pick food up from there. The Frito Misti was excellent and served in an edible bowl. They did not have any fresh lemons though. We also ordered a bottle of Prosecco and they did not have any chilled. But otherwise a great place to stop at.

Yelp
Best fritto misto! Great views, mellow place. It takes a while to get here. Second (and least touristy stop on the Mirano-Torcello-Burano cruise. Best seafood I've had in Venice.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I discovered this place on the way to the Torcello cathedral. The food is excellent, the prices are good and the staff is pleasant. The outdoor seating was clean and welcoming. I look forward to coming back!

Yelp
Saw a sign along the street in front of the place that said "YOU CAN EAT THE PLATE!" I thought it was funny and went along our way to explore the rest of Torcello. On the way back, my wife and I stopped for lunch. There were a variety of menu items all with reasonable prices. Indeed they weren't kidding about eating the plate! Our spaghetti and clams were served in a baked bread/cracker bowl. We also enjoyed an order of calamari, a couple glasses of wine, and gelato. Seating is all outdoors. Sit down and enjoy the scenery, including a small vegetable garden and goat house. There's even a small playground for kids. Great last stop before heading back to the water bus stop!

Yelp
Very casual place, but semi formal inside. Excellent restaurant and the staff is amazing!!!!! Will come back the next time we are in Venice. We were all in jeans and they made us feel very welcomed.

Yelp
We had to try Taverna Tipica after the tour guide said that it was known for serving the best seafood on the island. She was spot on! We couldn't agree with her more! What makes Taverna stand out is the seafood tastes so fresh! And everything we tried was prepared just right. The fried and battered scallop, calamari, shrimp and fish were delicious! They prepare the battered seafood with the the lightest batter, just enough to give it a crunch, and season it with just the right amount of seasoning. But the tastiest platter was the prawns. You could taste the fresh sea! All In all, this was about as perfect as seafood gets and worth every penny.
