"A local landmark, Taverna Trilussa has been a Trastevere hangout for nearly a century. The ivy-covered entrance opens to a lively family-run trattoria where prosciutto and dried herbs decorate the walls alongside the usual trappings of vintage photos, books, and paintings. Taverna Trilussa is most famous for its tableside serving of typical Roman dishes like bucatini all’Amatriciana and cacio e pepe , theatrically tossed about in a frying pan or even a Parmesan wheel. Reservations are a must, or else expect to queue up alongside all the tourists waiting for a plate of mozzarella in carrozza."

Had one of the best meals of our life here on our first night in Rome. Absolutely incredible food, we had the Mimosa Ravioli and the Carbonara which were both delicious, and I will think about the tiramisu for years! The service and atmosphere were both perfect too, wait staff very polite and friendly and always ready to serve as soon as you need something. 10/10 would recommend.

Google
Lovely outdoor and indoor experience. Make reservations or be prepared to eat really late (10pm+). We enjoyed everything we ate here and it was cool to see some of the food being mixed/ prepared with final touches right in front of us. We'd definitely recommend the mimosa ravioli, zucchini flowers and the Carbonara. Wine list was extensive so lots of options. The tomato salad was fine but not the best we'd had so far; it was still nice to get some fresh vegetables in so we don't regret getting it by any means.

Google
Very good but not mind-blowing, think it’s overhyped - wish we sat outside but seems only for locals… artichokes were OK, wish they were crispier. Skip the mozzarella carozza (although the datterini tomato were tasty and sweet i would have preferred a few uncooked as a salad with basil on top, not cooked in or a sauce instead- we make better mozzarella carozza in new york and my grandfather got it at every meal, granted I was expecting more of a fried egg battered spedini type of dish) and the veal meatballs saltimbocca (a unique take but not worth it, kinda undercooked, but again I crisp up my meatballs pre-sauce). Waiters were awesome, especially my two. Carbonara and Amatricana were amazing - this is why you are here. The tennis stuff and the walls are an amazing atmosphere inside - they need to get fans or ac!

Celebrating More Than 100 Years! This classic Roma restaurant certainly doesn’t need reviews to stay in business. That’s because they serve classic Italian food in a very relaxed setting. We say outdoors and highly recommend. We started with incredible grilled artichokes and mixed salad. They have rice balls and fried zucchini on the menu, however we passed because we had to make room for their pastas. Their signature ravioli that’s been on the menu from the beginning was as good as you would expect. We had the olive oil bacon infused pasta as well. Yum! The one thing they don’t have is fresh fish which was a disappointment. We shared a filet and it was tasty along with roasted potatoes. Wine list is impressive with some selections over 5000 EU. Happily, they have a very tasty house red. And don’t order a martini, they don’t make them! Overall, excellent Italian restaurant that will be around for at least another 100 years.

Made all the other 10 restaurants in Roma look like amateurs. Fantastic ownership and service. Food impeccable. Ambiance 10/10 and experience was also impeccable. Wine list phenomenal DON’T you dare miss this one. We’ve been to Roma 10/12 times and while having been to many great restaurants we waited for this one along time and it was worth the going Early in June Wait versus the July/August crowds nightmare. Go early Go late Just Go to taverna Trilussa ! Worth the wait

Google
Very big disappointment.went there with great expectations but it was just ok. Focacia very good and then the pasta came. Mimosa dish with 2 wins at contests was just ok. The red sauce dish with beef tale just bareable and the 40€ carbonara was a plain carbonara! We couldn't smell the trufle even if the waiter added some more. After all that we couldn't even have the nerve to look at the desert menu.no tips for me sorry the 40€ carbonara consumed all!I don't mind at all the small portions , I wanted to be mindblown but nothing hapened .No suggestion for me to other people sorry.

Google
This was our best food experience in Rome this year , everything from the flavour to the quality of ingredients and service was outstanding. The focaccia with burrata and truffle was absolutely to die for. The cacio e pepe, carbonara, and truffle pasta were all excellent too. I’d definitely recommend trying the Artichoke too. My only suggestion would be to add a fish dish to the menu for pescatarians.

Google
Really great Place, but something need to improve, the Supplì with Ragù and Castelmagno was dry, the Artichokes alla Brace fabulous, the Tonnarelli with coda alla Vaccinara, should be with more meat, Bucatini alla Matriciana, it has a slight burnt aftertaste from the Guanciale, which was also cut so small that it was almost unnoticeable, overall was a great meal, but from a place with so much history you expect more. Great ambience, beautiful Restaurant.

Yelp
Best Dinner in Trastevere Tucked away in the heart of Trastevere, this dinner was unforgettable from start to finish. We began with perfectly crisp fried squash blossoms and melt-in-your-mouth prosciutto--both light yet packed with flavor. The star of the evening was the house special tonnarelli: handmade pasta, beautifully balanced and bursting with rich, authentic taste. The veal was tender, expertly cooked, and deeply satisfying, while the cheesecake provided the perfect, creamy finale. Every dish felt like a love letter to Roman cuisine. Perfect ambiance for a romantic dinner or casual dining Great service, and a menu that truly delivers. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Service great Food really great Atmosphere was good We sat outside in the patio which was hot on an August night but it's a very busy area with lots of great energy. Tons of good restaurants to visit. We had reservations and we were greeted warmly and felt like they were happy to have us there. They were very accommodating, friendly and responsive. We ordered some light appetizers - get the artichokes and meat charcuterie. The salads like most spot come undressed so you can add whatever you like to make it taste how you like - a little olive oil and salt and pepper are quite lovely. The pastas were perfectly Al dente with fresh flavors. The bread was complimentary and super yummy. They were a full house but you didn't feel it. We would go back in a heartbeat. We highly recommend. Only bummer is we didn't get a pic of the desserts which were great - tiramisu, lemon ice cream and this fruit with mascarpone. All good.

Yelp
Four of us had dinner here on a weekend night. We arrived on time and were seated immediately. Many people were waiting. We had a reservation. We sat outside and the atmosphere was lovely. Service was great! We all started by splitting the Suppli americiaiciani, the Grilled artichoke, and the Zucchini flowers. Best zucchini flower of the trip! Perfectly crunchy in the inside appropriate amount of stuffing and stuffing had flavor. The other two appetizers were also very good. For our pasta courses, we got cacio and Pepe, carbonara, and ravioli. The cheese and spinach ravioli was the house specialty and it was very good. This was the best carbonara of the trip! We all agreed! Although other pasta dishes were good, We didn't like that the cacio and Pepe and the ravioli dish were served in the pan. We skipped dessert. We still talk about this carbonara dish!

Yelp
When here based on a recommendation from a friend and it did not disappoint. If you want the true Italian experience, please stop here. We went at 9:45 and didn't need a reservation but I would recommend getting one if you want to eat earlier. This was our favorite meal of the trip. The pasta was made fresh and they even brought out the pan it was cooked in and then served it on your plate. The sauce for any dish is mouth watering. All the staff were friendly and gave great recommendation.

Yelp
I think the true rating of this restaurant (for a foreigner) is exactly 2.5/5.0. The food is as good as the 5-star reviews claim, and the service is as bad (if not worse) than the 1-star reviews claim. This is the best food we wound in Rome--hands down. From the US, we noticed the service was lesser in Italy (perhaps result of no-tip culture); however, this was the worst service we encountered, without a question. If you speak only English and present very American, come at your own risk. It's comically bad treatment. We only got the reservation because a five-star hotel concierge made it for us. Again, incredible food. Much credit to the kitchen!

Kaitlyn S.

Yelp
We had the truffle parm steak and the bucatini alla gricia. We were drawn here since it was recommended by a lot of celebrities. The food was good, but nothing crazy. It lacked a bit of hospitality compared to our experiences in other parts of Italy. This was also one of our more expensive meals in Rome.

Yelp
Outstanding! Easily one of my favorite restaurants in Rome. The food, service, and ambiance are all top notch. Absolutely no complaints at all.

Yelp
One of our favorite meals of the trip, I enjoyed the amatriciana pasta and hubby the osso buco. We had a great server who helped pick a terrific bottle of wine. Cozy and bustling, the vibe was just what we wanted. Bonus points for being walking distance from our hotel across the river and adjacent to lots to do in Trastevere.

Yelp
Taverna Trilussa is a Trastevere staple for us when we go to Rome. Food, ambiance, and service is always top notch. Our server was very knowledgeable and helped us pick out a bottle for the meal as well that we really enjoyed. a great spot for locals and tourists alike. You won't want to miss it!

Josh H.

Yelp
Probably our favorite meal of our trip. Lasagna and pasta carbonara were the best we had in Italy. It made for a lot of disappointment for the rest of our trip, kind of wish we would have gone there last....but overall delicious.

Yelp
1000 stars, we loved this place so much that we went back two nights later. The service is impeccable, ambiance is perfect and the food is a complete delight. Love love love

Yelp
We had an amazing authentic dinner at Taverna Trilussa in Rome. It's located in the hip Trastevere neighborhood. This neighborhood boats so many great restaurants, literally you can't have a bad meal there. Service was awesome and the wine my server recommended was divine!! The Bucatini all' Amatriciana with pecorino cheese and homemade bacon is a must try!!!!!! The pasta is fresh and delicious!!!! Try to make a RSVP if possible. We lucked out by getting a table.

Stephanie P.

Yelp
It was really delicious, probably our best meal in Rome! We were able to call the same morning and get a 10 pm reservation on a Tuesday- I imagine it is much harder to get a reservation on the weekend so call ahead. We loved the zucchini flowers appetizer. For the main meal we got the ravioli mimosa, carbonara with truffle and the tonnarellli with ox tail sauce, all were good but the truffle carbonara was by far our favorite! $140 euro meal with bottle of wine
google avatar

Pete W.

Yelp
My wife couldn't stop talking about this place. Best food, wine, vibe etc. Now that she's shared this gem with me... I can't stop talking about the food, the wine, the staff, the feeling! Don't miss this one.

Bernard H.

Yelp
In the last 20 years I have visited Rome 72 times, and Trilussa is the best restaurant in all of Rome. I have tried dozens of restaurants, but there is nothing better. The food, the service, and people are unforgettable!!! This is where the Italians go to eat. They have the best "Amatricana" in Italy. It's a pasta dish you must get. Order it and let me know.

Yelp
Definitely my favorite meal in Rome! The concierge at our hotel had recommended we try it out. We were so glad we did. We were seated inside. When you walk in you walk by a case with black truffles in them. I was drooling as we walked in walked in the door. We started with their Ravioli Mimosa (a two time award winner). The ravioli was stuffed with cheese and served with a DELICIOUS creamy sauce. I believe it was topped with pieces of scrambled egg, the recipe is a secret though. We also had burrata and prosciutto. It was obviously wonderful. Finally for mains, my husband had the seafood pasta and I had the carbonara topped with TRUFFLE. What I would give to have one more taste! The service was okay, as I found with most if not all restaurants so I let that slide. However, these are tastes that I will never forget. You've gotta try if you are in Rome!

Dean Z.

Yelp
Great food and service. Love the location and the ambiance. Definitely recommend it to everyone

Yelp
I have been to Rome 63 times. I work there every 4 months for a week and Taverna Trilussa is the best restaurant in ROMA. No one makes better pasta. We know because I've been to all the good ones. Massimo and Maurizio the owners run the place with passion. The chef makes the food with love. They have the best AMATRICANA in Italy. The #1 Roman dish. There is a huge waiting list but don't miss it. Let me know how much you will love it! Bernard & David Hiller

Yelp
By far our favorite meal in Rome. We weren't sure what to expect initially as they sat us outside and near a service station but as the meal went on we realized we had the best seat in the house as we got to see the servers finish and plate many of the dishes right by us. We went with the several course tasting menu which came with various wines too which really made it a good deal even though it was a lot of money. Every single bite of food they brought out was amazing, and the service and atmosphere were so nice, befitting a really romantic and memorable meal.

Yelp
Truly one of the best meals I've had in my entire life. If you like truffle you will LOVE the truffle pasta.

Yelp
Don't wait- make your reservation now. What a lovely experience. Everything about this place is beautiful - the ambiance, the staff and most especially the food. We ordered our food with perfect recommendations from our waiter- who also suggested perfect wine pairings. We started with the roasted octopus - incredibly tender and flavorful. Then we had the bucatini in tomato sauce and the carbonara with truffles - both were delicious! Made with the freshest ingredients and cooked perfectly really a lovely evening. Made reservations for our next visit next week - chef's kiss to all!

Keith K.

Yelp
Good and service was amazing. And plentiful. They do not skimp on portions! Pasta was so good

Yelp
Yum yum yum!! I loved this spot! Best truffle pasta and best focaccia and amazing dessert. I highly recommend having at least one meal here when visiting rome. We went on a weekday and didn't require reservation but if you are going on the weekend please make one.

Yelp
Taverna Trilussa is a well known, and highly regarded, classic Roman restaurant in Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber"), an area known for its winding streets, lively piazzas and vivacious nightlife. Taverna Trilussa is more expensive, quieter and more staid that its neighbors. This is the place you take your Nonna or your out of town business associates for dinner. Fancy, but not pretentious, with an extensive menu and an excellent wine list. While the food is very good, it lacks the soulfulness of the area. The service is very good as well, but you get the sense that they are relying a bit too much on their reputation. As much as I wanted to give them 5 stars, all that the food warrants is a 4.

Cara R.

Yelp
Best of the best!! So glad we were able to experience Taverna Trilussa while in Rome. Must order pasta, served in pan that they prepare in!!
google avatar

Beth B.

Yelp
Came here upon recommendation of a trusted traveler and was lucky that our hotel was able to make us a reservation. It was simply a sublime meal, and I was so grateful for the patient staff as my daughter had a jet lag-related meltdown. I cannot wait to return with my husband so we can enjoy the truffle menu together, but the lobster pasta with fresh truffle was sufficient to tide me over. A memorable experience; I will always now recommend Taverna Trilussa!
google avatar

Yelp
In Rome for 4 days after a 10 day visit in the country. I called while in the states trying to get a reservation with no answer. Tried again when we arrived in Italy (not Rome - no answer). When we arrived in Rome, I called 13 times throughout our first day (evening & night) with NO answer. At this point is was comical that I couldn't get anyone to answer the phone & they don't take reservations via the internet. We showed up at exactly 7 to see about a walk in & we're unfortunately denied dining. What a sad & disappointing experience for a place we were so eager to try. If your looking for hospitality in Italy - try elsewhere!
google avatar

Mary K.

Yelp
The restaurant came highly recommended by our concierge at the pantheon hotel. The server was extremely friendly and nice. The food was mediocre. The pasta's were all very al dente even thought asked for well cooked and extremely salty. The only excellent pasta was the truffle pasta.
google avatar

Sasha K.

Yelp
Taverna Trilussa is an iconic restaurant in the trastevere foodie region of Rome. There are so many good places to choose from but if you're in the mood for ravioli then this place can't be beat. Their ravioli mimosa is an all time favourite and is a special blend on the inside that they insist on keeping secret. For good reason too; this dish is creamy and tossed table side at times giving you the full effect of Italian service at its finest. The beef filet is hearty and extremely tender. However, I snuck a bite of the grilled lamb off my fellow diners plate and it was quite juicy and delicious as well. I never go to an Italian restaurant, especially in Italy itself, and don't indulge in stuffed zucchini flowers. They're just my absolute favourite and I bet it was the world class olive oil that they were fried in that made it that much more sublime. It's hard to make a choice of what you want considering everything looks mouth watering at Taverna Trilussa but whatever you choose, you can't go wrong.
google avatar

Yelp
A bit pretentious as the food does not live up to expectations. Food is good, but not great. Cincinnati Kori Bellone Pas Dosè 2021 €34. Golden color and a bit mellow. Good value sparkler. Cantini Balzano/Kellerei Bozan Lagrein Perl 2021 €30. An excellent example of this grape and style. Fried mozzarella in pastry. Mild and unctuous. Rigatoni in cream sauce with sausage. Smooth cream sauce. Mild sausage. Gnocchi stuffed with mild Gorgonzola and with fresh tomato sauce. The gnocchi was too dense--not pillowy. Served in a beat up saucier--a gimmick which is totally out of place for fine dining. + service - attentive and friendly + cloth napkins with logo, made in Italy + tablecloths + hefty (no label) flatware + large (100s) wine list + padded commutable chairs + bagno with toilet seat + tavern atmosphere, but high-end feel, enjoyable
google avatar

bruce s.

Yelp
Gotta be quintessential Italian cuisine! Homemade pasta that is to die for. My carbonara was great as was wife's ravioli. Fired on 8 cylinders with apps and sides but a bit stingy on the wine pours.
google avatar

Ira M.

Yelp
Can't recommend this restaurant enough! The service was excellent, and the food was one of the biggest highlights of our trip! Great wine, too!
google avatar

Barrett H.

Yelp
This was maybe the best pasta dinner I've ever had. The cacio e pepe was perfect and the trail potatoes (patate strascinate) were amazing. I don't know why I chose potatoes as my contorno with pasta, but I'm so glad we did. The wine and the service were also excellent, and the prices were fair. An easy recommendation.
google avatar

Lauren C.

Yelp
Taverna Trilussa: After encountering countless restaurants in Rome with only one lonely vegetarian pasta option, Taverna Trilussa was a refreshing change. I actually had trouble deciding what to order. We wound up with the strozzapreti in cherry tomato sauce and the ravioli mimosa (a secret recipe). The strozzapretti was delicious and satisfying. The ravioli came in a creamy sauce that was vaguely cheesy and wholly delicious. Not the cheapest dinner option in the area, but I would definitely go back.

Robert S.

Yelp
Delicious. Authentic. Great service. The staff was great and our food was outstanding
google avatar

Paul W.

Yelp
Came here twice in our four day trip to Rome it was that good. If you like truffles this is for you. We didn't do the outrageous truffle tasting menu but the truffle eggs and the pasta with blue cheese and truffles were winners as was the suckling pig

Susan N.

Yelp
Amazing food. Great service. Historic location. Yummy. Wonderful wine selection. Our first meal EVER in Italy. It was a winner!

Yelp
Amazing. Arrive, soak in some real Italian time. Impeccable service, great vibe, scrumptious food. What a way to end a day!

Yelp
I can go as far as to say that my dinner at Taverna Trilussa last week was one of the best meals I've ever had... I'm SO glad I had the chance to eat dinner here on my vacation to Rome. I had called for reservations a few days in advance and when calling the women I spoke with said it would not be possible to get a reservation and they did not accept walk ins. After hearing all of the great recommendations from friends to go here for dinner, I was bummed to hear this from the restaurant. We had a long day out and decided to head out to dinner around 9:30/10pm and have Taverna Trilussa a shot. When we arrived, the host said it wouldn't be a problem and we waited about 10 minutes. So glad I didn't listen to the woman on the phone and showed up later. For starters we ordered a salad and the fried mozzarella. The cheese was unlike anything I've ever had, simple and more breading that I was expecting, but very delicious. For the main pastas, we ordered the ravioli mimiosa and the truffle pasta. Both were absolutely incredible, however, I expected to like the truffle pasta more and ended up LOVING the ravioli. There's a reason this dish has won awards. Desert we ordered chocolate mousse and sabayon, which were both very delicious as well. You can't miss Taverna Trilussa if you're visiting Rome! Also, found this restaurant to be extremely reasonable for all that we ordered. Coming from New York, there's no where you can go and order a bottle of excellent wine, 2 appetizers, 2 main dishes, 2 desserts for around $130 dollars. .
google avatar

Caitlin K.

Yelp
YUM! Best carbonara and cacio e pepe we had during our trip. Service was lovely. The pasta coming out in the pans that they're made in, beautiful touch. This was where we had dinner our first night in Rome and what a lovely experience it really was.
google avatar

Zachary H.

Yelp
Mama Mia this is good chow! This is my favorite spot in Rome. I had the Bucatini alla Gricia and it blew my socks right off! The rest of the food looked amazing as well. Kate got the gnocchi with tomatoes, basil, and fresh búfalo mozzarella. Desert was the chocolate mousse and it is my favorite. What a great meal. Atmosphere excellent. You are surrounded by ham and that is never bad. The service is most excellent and very friendly. Price is right.
google avatar

Glenn M.

Yelp
Food was excellent, service was excellent and the staff was knowledgeable in offering recommendations. The ambiance was soft, warm, and pleasant. My suggestion is to make dinner reservations far in advance, since this restaurant is very popular, and with the busy season fast approaching you may not be able to get one if you don't plan ahead.
google avatar

Jason H.

Yelp
A must do restaurant in Rome. It's an icon and deservingly so. Ravioli Mimosa and L'Amatricciana are the two dishes you need to have before you die. Likely from happiness. Enjoy. I go every time I am in Rome, often 3-4 times in a weekly visit.
google avatar

Zach L.

Yelp
The food was "OK" but severely overpriced. In Rome, we had much better for far less. A generous 3 stars...

Griselda R.

Yelp
Food was delicious. Service was excellent. Make your reservation because this place is very popular! The prosciutto is a must!!
google avatar

Sara F.

Yelp
I came here with my boyfriend after my cousin recommended this spot to us after we told him we were going to vacation in Rome. I am glad we took his suggestion to come here because it was honestly the best meal I've had in Rome so far, we ordered two fried rice balls and a side salad to start off with. Then we ordered the bucatini pasta with tomato sauce and guanciale, honestly I'd go as far to say one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. It was so flavorful and rich, but not heavy. Then we finished off with tea and coffee with the tiramisu, again delicious and would definitely recommend. Aside from the great food, the staff were very kind and efficient.
google avatar

Ellie L.

Yelp
This restaurant is absolutely wonderful! Best pasta of our trip. Ate dinner here on a Monday night at 8:30. Restaurant was full, so I was glad we made a reservation. The ambiance is on the nicer side and the prices are a bit more expensive than most other restaurants in the area. The wine list is quite expansive with bottles ranging from ~26 euro all the way up to a couple thousand. We ended up ordering a half liter of the house wine as we were leaving the next morning and wouldn't have been able to finish a full bottle. The house wine was the best we had in Italy, it had significant depth and was slightly dry. For dinner we ordered the ravioli and the bucatini all' amatriciana. Both were fantastic, but the raviolis were the very best I have ever had. That dish alone makes this restaurant worth the visit. Definitely get a reservation here and the try the ravioli!
