Loved Taverna so much we ate here 3 of our 6 nights on the island! Really friendly and efficient staff even on a busy night. Wine and cocktails from the bar were cold and delicious. Food came out hot and at a nice pace. We LOVED the Greek salad (so much that I saved the plate so I could dip my bread in the dressing!) and pasta dishes we had, especially the picatta and chicken Parmesan. And the lemon creme brûlée was out of this world! Some of the best Italian food we’ve had anywhere, and who would have thought it would be on a tiny island in the middle of the Caribbean! Wish we could eat here once a week, not once a year or so.

The Tavern restaurant is a true hidden gem that deserves all the praise it can get. From the moment you step through the unassuming entrance, you're transported to a charming, intimate setting. My husband and I asked for shrimp alfredo and a greek salad both plates were simply outstanding. The dessert was out of this world bourbon brandy pudding.
The service was attentive and friendly, with the staff clearly taking pride in sharing the best of what the Tavern has to offer.
If you're looking for a hidden gem in Vieques that will transport you to a culinary oasis, the Tavern is an absolute must-try. It's the kind of place that will have you planning your next visit before you even leave. Highly recommended!"

Outstanding Italian restaurant. Local friends took us to dinner here for our last night on Vieques, and it was excellent in every way: delicious food, terrific service, great drinks, and a wonderful atmosphere. I look forward to eating here again.

Very friendly staff! We enjoyed the Shrimp Alfredo. Big large succulent shrimp. The sauce was delicious.

Really great Italian restaurant. We ordered the wedge salad and two pastas and loved all of it. They even have gluten free pasta for those that need it. Friendly staff, would highly recommend.

We ate Italian food all over Italy and did not find one dish we liked as well as Taverna!

Got a pizza to go. Victor (pretty sure) and everyone really nice, liked the vibe, and pizza was great. We plan to come back for dinner soon.
Have now had two dinners and pizza again. Dinners were excellent. I had pasta putenesca and my wife had the pan seared red snapper. Can't remember what we had for dinner last year but both times we were in luck and had the PEI mussels special appetizer. Service great despite how busy they were.

My family and I decided to come here after a long day of traveling to Vieques. The service was a bit slow due to all of the staff being busy and talking to one another. The food presentation was fine but everything was SO BLAND and tasted like NOTHING. My family had the shrimp scampi, clam linguini, and the natasha (pictured below) and literally every dish had no taste. The carbonara had a taste of rancid pork due to some suspicious bacon. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Yelp
This place is legit! This feels like a family owned American Italian restaurant in the best of ways. Great service, they accommodated us even though we didn't have a reservation in the holiday season. The Foriana pasta was the most surprising. Greek and wedge salads were great, the pizzas and pastas were all fresh and well seasoned. Love this place, would come back again in a heartbeat. Next time we are coming to Vieques!

Yelp
This is our first review for our second dinner here! Both meals were fantastic! Yesterday we had pesto pizza, seafood pizza, fettuccine Alfredo, and a good bottle of chianti. Today was pesto pasta with zucchini noodles, more fettuccine Alfredo and some pasta with clams and bacon. Dessert was a lavender and vanilla creme brûlée and a flour-less torte. (There were four of us)
The portions were generous, the ingredients fresh and the service was prompt (even for island time). This place is open only weeknights and the sign says 'open for dinner'. I had noticed that locals frequented this place and most of them were restuarant owners! Need I say more?!?
This little bistro (for that's what it really is) does not have fancy decor, valet parking and forget the high-brow attitude. It is basic, well though-out, good food. One vacations, I rarely go to the same place twice and have never gone two nights in a row, but this amazing family-friendly restaurant was a must!
No Mofongo here.....go for the PiZZA & PASTA!

Yelp
REALLY LOUD!!!!!!!!!
This place was half a block from our guest house so we hit up at the end of a long day.
REALLY LOUD!!!!!!!!
The Athena pasta was delicious, and the staff was attentive and very friendly.
REALLY LOUD!!!!!!!!
Folks were having a great time in there and it seemed like a locals hang out.
It was really quite loud in there but that didn't wreck it one iota.
I know I'll talk my wife into getting pizza there before we leave this place.

Yelp
So noisy, the sound spilled out to the street. The noise level really influenced our experience and the mediocre food didn't help. House salad was a little lettuce and some curly carrot shavings with bottled dressing. Two of us had the Sicilian grouper and both felt the fish was mushy, perhaps frozen and then undercooked. Two had pizza, which was good, with nice crispy crust. We also shared a picture of sangria, which was average at best.
We won't return.

Yelp
Great food. Excellent service. It is much nicer inside than it looks from outside. Call ahead and reserve your table or you might miss dinner. Definitely order the white wine sangria

Yelp
We did not have a problem with noise and the pizza and pasta were both delicious. Attentive service. Everything is relative on Vieques! It seemed to be of locals which is usually a good sign!

Yelp
Pizzas were amazing. We had a meat lovers, a buffalo chicken, a pepperoni with bacon, and my favorite the pepperoni and extra cheese. All were amazing. Quiet atmosphere on a Thursday and two pizzas, 4 sodas, and 2 margaritas cost us $65 with tax!

Yelp
Fast friendly service, nice atmosphere, delicious pizza and the carbonara was the best I've had.

Yelp
Delicious Italian fare. Started with the Greek salad - it was tasty and more than enough for two.
Chicken Parmesan for my hubby, pesto pasta for me. Was happy to finish both off at our villa the next day. Yum!
Our server Ally was delightful. Very personable, attentive, and offered good suggestions of where to go and what to do. Lots of great food on the island...this is one to add to your list!

Yelp
Looks small from outside very spacious inside. Tammy was our waitress and definitely made our experience more fun. Our group had veal parm, shrimp scampi, Athena pasta and they even had zucchini pasta for gluten-free customers. It was a wonderful time, great food, we would definitely go back. Oh and it was not loud at all!

Yelp
Pizza is thin crust and deliciously topped. I got a fish special with pasta- so delicious! Perfectly cooked and so fresh! Prices are reasonable. Food was enjoyable!

Yelp
This place is owned by former Bostonians and as soon as I tasted the pizza I knew it without being told. Def an East Coast pizza. Perfect crunchy thin crust pizza, outstanding sauce and just the right amount of toppings. We ordered the small buffalo chicken pizza and promptly devoured it. Then my husband had the chicken piccata as a second course while I opted for the Greek salad. Both were terrific. The chicken cutlet was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The sauce had just the right amount of capers and lemon juice. My salad was very fresh with a nice light dressing. Salads are hard to find in Vieques and at $9 it was fair, although would have been nice if it had a little meat on it -- salami or prosciutto etc and more peppers. The sangria was tasty, although a bit weak alcohol-wise (more club soda? than wine) but their other drinks looked delicious. We would go back again, but apparently they are closed for a few weeks as of today. Definitely check this place out when you come to Vieques!
