I was blown away by the beauty of the beach, the white sand and crystal clear water. we came here just before sunset so didn’t get enough time to explore. Kids loved to run around on the beach, climbed the rock and draw in the sand. We will definitely come back for trails and kiwi spotting at night, thinking of camping here in the summer time. For me, this is by far the most beautiful and magical beach around Auckland.

A summer paradise! Beautiful white sand beaches, clear blue water, and fantastic coastal walks. Perfect for swimming, picnics, and enjoying the outdoors. The wildlife, including native birds, is a highlight. A must-visit Auckland destination for a relaxing beach day or scenic hike. Make the trip, its worth it

Tawharanui is an epic regional Park to visit. For camping and vanlife you can book a site near the beach or if it's full (as we found) we parked at the car park until late (to go Kiwi spotting) and then relocated outside the gate at about 11pm. Back to the park and beach at 6am when the gate opened. Beach is awesome, caves to explore, hills to climb, white sand and surf. Hard to beat in NZ. Facilities are the cleanest and most well appointed of any regional Park in NZ I would say. May not have showers there though. Kiwi spotting... Go after dark, can use a red light or a normal light. The cool kids use red. We followed paths through the bush to no avail, then when we were fairly lost, went up a path to the field above the bush and look and behold, there was a kiwi in the field. We could actually get quite close. After following this guy around, we found we were surrounded by kiwis in the open field. So you've heard it here first - go to the open fields. This is a fabulous place to visit for a day, or stay a few days!

Beautiful place with extra green rolling hills, incredible cliffs and a very vibrant ocean. The cattle wandering across the area creates some beautiful photos. We did the north/south coast hike with all of the viewpoints included. Beware that the elephant rock track was not maintained at all.

Amazing clear water, only go if you respect the bird life and are interested in ecology and nature. No room for ghetto blasters and alcohol consumption!! Spirit of adventure was hosting some Duke of Edinburgh 10 young voyagers and it was spectacular to see the ship anchor ⚓ just off shore. Love the birds and the castaway island feel to this gem of Auckland regional council's parks. The road in is windy and hard to navigate so slow down and don't be a dick driving here.

One of the most beautiful beaches in Aotearoa New Zealand! Get there early so you can easily park your car and bring plenty of food and water. And shade as the sun is very strong but there aren’t many places to cover. Also bring the snorkel as the marine life there is incredible!

Beautiful place a little tricky to find first time with the auto gates and stuff. We'll worth a visit, it's very well maintained great little hikes stunning beach walks and great surf...if you don't like busy go anytime between Monday to Thursday usually only a few people...Friday to Sunday busy as.

In addition to beautiful white sand beaches, rolling pastures, stunning bays for swimming, snorkeling or surfing the 588ha regional park has different habitat trails that encompass the seashore, coastal wilderness, pasture and native bush, streams and regenerating wetlands. Note: no dogs allowed here.
