15 Places Every Tea-Lover Should Visit Before They Die

"Built as recently as 2002, the Tchai-Ovna is a small tea house in Scotland inspired by the philosophy of Czech Cajovna. Created by brothers Robin and Martin Fell, the idea for Tchai-Ovna came after a trip to Prague spent exploring the local food and drink scene. Deciding to capture the exoticism of what they had experienced abroad, the brothers set out to open a teahouse back in Scotland. Tchai-Ovna eventually opened with the help of friends, family, the community, and student loans.  Tchai-Ovna House of Tea is inspired by the Czech Cajovna—or Czech bohemian set—and aims to combine the exoticism of far-flung locales with the celebration of small businesses. Rejecting mass production is a key element of Czech Cajovna, according to Tchai-Ovna’s site, which is why the teahouse focuses on a menu that celebrates the origins of the teas, as well as putting an emphasis on the homemade.  Now offering more than 100 teas to choose from, the teahouse is described as “stepping into a Turkish Chaikhana, or a Bedouin cave, or even a Japanese tea house” complete with comfy sofas and Afghan Chai Zanjafeel. Tchai-Ovna hosts a slew of musical, story-telling, and art events that help cultivate the sense of a Bohemian community right in the heart of Glasgow." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

Beautiful teas with flavour and heart that take me back to the early 2000s and the magic of visiting Tchai Ovna’s tearoom on Otago Lane. Very well packaged and delivered safely.

I recently purchased some culinary grade matcha from this company and it was lovely, tastes great and very fresh! Better than most cafes haha. I might even invest in their higher quality matcha as this one is so tasty even on its own!

My first ever taste of chai was in Tchai-Ovna in the early 2000’s and got me hooked! So pleased to see that I could order a bag online, it tastes just how I remember it. Looking forward to lots of cosy cups over the winter months, delicious!

Absolutely loved the actual Tchai-Ovna Tea House when it was there. Damn shame it's not now, but that's another story... Still purveying 'fine teas'. The high quality & VFM is second to none. You can almost feel the atmosphere of the old place but can taste the ambience with their fabulous selection of teas. And can even hear echos the wailing of the brass jazz...

This place is sinply magical. I was very sad to hear of its closing but buying tea online straight to your door?! Yes please! Beautiful quality, my favourite is Faerie's Blood and I am so happy to have it again!

I bought some yogi yogi chai and one of the lovely strainers - can't get enough of it! Works well with different milks (I usually go for oat). The aroma of the blend hits me every time I open the cupboard, it's awesome 😂

Like.. how many times did I visit here? My memorable wee tea place near the uni. Highly recommend the delicate chai lattes and Armenian tea. Sometimes holds wonderful music nights, and I'd really love to ask where they bought all the wooden tables(especially the checkerboard pattern one, please contact me in case you're selling it) You might witness a cat if you're lucky

Tchai-Ovna has always offered me a nice choice of the kinds of teas I prefer. The web-site is straightforward, delivery of my orders is via Royal Mail and pretty prompt. I'm pleased to have a purveyor of fine teas like Thai-Ovna virtually on my doorstep.
