Te Kano Estate

I absolutely Love Te Kano! You arrive at a stunning building perched above the most gorgeous valley. You can sit on their hanging deck, in the grassy area on a bean bag or if it's windy you can sit inside the tasting room. The wines are top notch and they have a few different tasting options to choose from. The cool climate Cabernet Franc is a must try! The staff are always so friendly, knowledgeable and go out of their way to make sure you have an enjoyable time. They even have a few charcuterie items you can purchase and create your own little "help yourself" snack board to go with the wines. Always a pleasure and I'll definitely be back! 👍 Like my review! This was the first place we went to taste in the Otago Valley and we were very impressed by Te Kano. We wish we lived closer or lived in New Zealand to get a full case sent to our home. As a person who understands and enjoy wines, they hit the target on all their wines. The customer service, views, and pricing were great and I would highly recommend to our family and friends.

Visiting Te Kano was perhaps the highlight of my entire trip to New Zealand. The property and architecture is absolutely stunning, the service was phenomenal, and the wines were fabulous across the board. I did a tasting and was served by Maddie, who was incredibly knowledgeable about all the wines and created a specialized tasting based on my preferences. The Northburn Pinot Noir and the Waitaki Chardonnay were probably my favorites but I enjoyed each wine I tasted- the wine itself is truly world-class. I also loved that it’s a family business and members of the family were working in the cellar door. It was so great to hear about their story and their passion both for the wine and for protecting and preserving the land. Absolutely recommend!

What an amazing place! My partner and I decided to visit Te Kano on a beautiful Sunday afternoon and we were not disappointed with the amazing customer service, quality of wine and ambience of this place. This hidden gem nestled in the vast hills of Bannockburn offered exquisite wine tasting, a 'build your own picnic' and stunning views that captured the beauty of Central Otago. We thoroughly enjoyed the variety of wines we tasted and fell in love with the Riesling - which we of course took home! We would definitely recommend this place for those wine lovers out there!

We visited for my husbands birthday & on our honeymoon trip. The whole Te Kano team made our visit so special by surprising us with birthday treats and their wine tasting was superb! We treated ourselves to a few bottles because we enjoyed our wine tasting so much and I would highly recommend visiting their cellar door! Delicious wines! Thank you!

We have just read the reviews and find it perplexing as our experience today was very poor and underwhelming from a service point of view. Had a booking for 4 at 12 noon, travelled from Queenstown on the day. Yes location is great but on entering we were not made welcome. Sat down, the wines placed on table, we asked questions as we were genuinely interested, the response was distracted - it was pointed out that cheese etc. is self service. How hard would it be for us to make our choices and it be served to us? Particularly in view of the fact that the cost is $28 per head. Cheese etc. is extra. At no time thereafter was the host engaging, informative or friendly despite our interest in the wine and vineyard. We are none the wiser about the journey of this vineyard. (Please note it was NOT the person that started working there today). Generally, the personnel did not match the wonderful location or experience that we were expecting. It's a shame as the wines were to our liking but when you are ignored there is no incentive to make a purchase. Thursday 4 December 2025.

We just found our new favourite Winery in the whole NZ! Views are stunning - overlooking the Kawarau River & the Bannockburn Mining landscapes, especially on a nice sunny day, it is perfect! Great location to do your wine tasting, so relaxing & this is definitely a hidden Gem! They produce amazing wines and with multiple wines have been awarded as one of the best in NZ! Not to mention you can build you own charcuterie board from their pantry. (Try their cherry chutney - amazing & you would want to go back for more!) Delicious wine, easy to drink, enjoy the taste and explore the wine notes during your wine tasting here. Highly recommend! I would go back in a heartbeat!

We called in on our push-bike ride and were greeted with a fantastic view. Joe was polite, accommodating, personable and very knowledgeable throughout our wine tasting. It was a lovely experience! P.S. We think Joe deserves a pay rise 😉
