Easter Island Used Its Pandemic Closure to Reinvigorate Its Culture and Traditions — and It's Luring Travelers Back

"At Te Moai Sunset restaurant that evening, I tried sashimi-like tiradito, raw mahi-mahi in a peppery coulis of local mangoes." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Wow! What a wonderful dining experience! Totally blown away by the quality of the foods presented to us. Sure, the price point is elevated, but worth every Chilean Peso!! The view is remarkable, the venue is delightful, the food captivating, the drinks reasonable, and the service seamless. The only reason you might not want to come here is that it will be hard to find better service anywhere on the Island! The speed, attention, and attitude, will only set you up for disappointment elsewhere. The only genuine reason you might prefer someplace else is the lack of A/C. I normally hate when this is lacking, but on this occasion I would happily suffer the inconvenience of fans ineptly cooling the space to enjoy every other aspect of this extraordinary experience. Would have eaten here and nowhere else on the Island had we found this earlier during our visit.

This place is hyped and insanely busy at dinner time The location is great, right by Tahai with sunset views (looks even better from the car, stunning when you get closer 🌅) But the service completely fell apart. Waited an hour just to place our order, someone finally helped Food was meh normal. The tuna ceviche was okay, drinks came wrong

One of the best places to eat and watch sunset with a view of the statues - food was excellent , drinks were amazing here and the view was out of the world. Make sure to make reservations well in advance - they will turn you away if you do not have one in busy hours

Pushy for tips when service was not great. Food is only ok but I ordered sashimi so if the fish is fresh then it shouldn’t be a problem. Portion is very small and even stingy for rice. The bowl is like the size of a child’s palm. The whole experience is just not worth it. For sure I won’t go back and won’t recommend.

THE BEST PLACE TO GET DINNER OR LUNCH! We came back twice, would've been 3 times but they were closed on Sunday LOL, but it was absolutely delicious with awesome service and an awesome view. We walked from our place and stumbled upon this restaurant the first day we got here and Im so happy we did. The fish soup is 11/10 and the kids meal with fried fish and French fries 11/10. Super flavorful and good vibes. They also had Giveon on repeat and vibey music that did not overpower the calmness of the restaurant. PLEASE EAT HERE.

Amazing place for lunch or dinner! They’re open quite long and the view is amazing. The service was always very friendly and great! The food is so so so good and the prices are totally acceptable for Easter Island and they had the best piña colada for just 6000CLP. We went there more than once because the food was so yummy, highly recommended!!!

Cute little restaurant to watch the sunset. We came right after sunset on a Friday night in May, got one of the best views since we reserved the seat around 2pm same day. Served was very attentive and provided English menu, which seems rare on this island. We ordered a bottle of white and each ordered different Tuna main entree, They were cooked perfectly and not over salty. Overall great little restaurant, definitely recommend!

Great location and excellent service, which by itself would warrant 5 stars. Unfortunately the fish, which we hoped would be the star of the night was very dry, hence "only" four stars overall. The dish presentation is wonderful, a veritable fest for the eyes, and overall the quality of ingredients and preparation is very good (except for the overcooked / dry fish). Portions are also a bit on the small side. The ambience is very nice, with original, if a bit quirky, details and the place feels warm thanks to the abundance of natural wood and natural light poring in from the large windows, which offer a great view of the sunset.
