The Perfect Saturday in Tahiti, According to Pro Surfer Vaimiti Teiefitu

"The bar at Te Moana Tahiti Resort offers the best sunset views, located on a small island with a view of Mo'orea. It's an ideal spot to start the evening with a drink."

"Rare in Tahiti, Manava sits on a white-sand beach on the island’s west coast, offering dazzling sunset views across the water to Moorea. Beyond its romantic vibe, however, the resort is actually great for families, as rooms feature full kitchens that make cooking a breeze, plus modern amenities like free WiFi and flatscreen TVs with DVD players. There’s also a gorgeous infinity pool fronting the beach and lagoon as well as an onsite restaurant, Vaitohi, which offers an extensive à la carte menu of Polynesian and international cuisine. When you need a break from the kids, head to either the Taapuna Pool Bar or the contemporary Punavai Lounge Bar."

Got a day pass while waiting for flight home from a cruise. Compared to local prices, this was a decent deal since it included lunch and 2 hours of activity. We loved the infinity pool. There were plenty of areas for shade. Lunch was delish!! All staff was extremely nice and helpful from check in to luggage storage and access, to departure and help to get a taxi.

Sadly, my husband and I only stayed here for one night. This was our first trip to French Polynesia, and we just needed someplace to stay in Tahiti before jetting off to another island the next day. Within minutes of our arrival, however, I really wished we had scheduled a longer stay! The expansive grounds and views of Moorea from our balcony and the dock were lovely. We enjoyed kicking back in the comfy seating areas, watching dolphins play and outrigger canoes speed past. The cheerful staff were all just wonderful. The private lagoon had plenty of cool fish and turned out to be a great place to safely get back into the groove of snorkeling. The resort had a complete array of water toys you could use from their dock: my husband tried paddle-boarding for the first time and I had great fun using one of the sit-on kayaks. Our room with its small kitchen was pretty and comfortable, huge and spotlessly clean. As noted by some other guests, it did have a mildew smell--not too surprising considering the high humidity in Tahiti. However, it became less noticeable when we opened the slider. If we return to this beautiful island, we will definitely try to stay here longer!

Before I get to the property… let’s be honest: not everything about this hotel hits the mark—but one person makes it all worthwhile, and that’s Tony. Officially the head bartender, but unofficially the customer service MVP.||Tony did far more than serve amazing drinks. He personally helped us with dinner reservations off property (his Yellowfin rec was spot on), gave us hiking tips, and checked in constantly to make sure we had everything we needed—often before we even asked. He sets the bar for hospitality, and mentors the team around him with patience and professionalism. If anyone deserves to be running this place, it’s Tony. Promote him to GM yesterday!||As for the rest of the experience: the buffet breakfast was a highlight—plenty of variety and made-to-order egg dishes were a win. The ocean view deck and lagoon seating are truly next-level. That said, the rooms and pool are overdue for a serious update. We booked a 2 bedroom duplex for a week, which had plenty of space and comfy beds.||There were some hiccups around room cleanliness and pre-booked reservation comps, which took some haggling to resolve. But to their credit, the hotel did try to make it right in the end, honoring the original agreement and sending over a couple of bottles of wine/champagne. That gesture helped.|| Until they make updates on the rooms, pool, and cleanliness, I’d only consider 1 night, pass-thru stays on my way to other locales/islands. Still, the reason we’d consider returning—or recommend it at all—is because of Tony. He made a so-so stay feel special, and that kind of genuine service is rare.

Came here with my wife on our honeymoon and they made a large effort to make our dining experience special. They gave us the best seat in the house, and if it was not for the rain it would have been even better. Thank you for the amazing experience along with your great food, everything we ordered was delicious.

The hotel is extremely worn down and the rooms & showers smell really awful, musty and moldy. Got respiratory issues from the mold after just one night & tried to cancel the rest of our stay. It took over 30 hours for us to get a response from management and the manager even refused to see us at one point, only sending one of the reception girls back and forth as a messenger because she was ”busy”. After 7 visits to the reception we were informed that ”no mold was found in our room” (a bunch of BS, if you just read the other reviews they will testify the rooms stink of mold). They would not refund the rest of our stay so we could change hotels. We were forced to stay, feeling sick the entire time.||Additionally the food at the hotel’s restaurant is extremely expensive and low quality. You’re also not allowed to have your own snacks at the pool (like a protein bar in my case). They have someone keeping an eye on you who will come & tell you to stop eating if you do.||The property also has so many birds, roosters and chickens (which might sound nice at first but I promise, it’s not). The roosters are loud through the night and you will not be able to sleep without earplugs. There is also no chance you will get to enjoy your breakfast in peace, as you’ll be shooing away said chicken and roosters, that are constantly & aggressively trying to jump on the tables.||Even if I had payed 1/3 of the cost I would NOT have been happy with our stay. Really expensive and all you get is a poor experience in return. Our entire time in Tahiti was unfortunately ruined by this hotel. Believe the bad reviews and steer clear of this place!!

As many comments mentioned the pool needs a bit of an upgrade/maintenance and the sea access could be improved. Rooms were comfortable, if you stay in one next to road is a bit noisy, facilities are nice enough. Dinner was nice, vegan dish was even nicer then the regular offer one but overall recommended. View is beautiful and overall nice stay and experience in Tahiti pn 1 day layover to island.

I purchased an ocean view suite online, but when I arrive, they said it was not available. However, they were able to compensate me in such a fashion that I was quite happy with everything and I had a lovely time! If you can afford it, I highly recommend the one bedroom ocean view suite. It is fantastic! The view from the balcony is stunning.

Me and three friends shared a 2 bedroom suite and it was nothing short of amazing. There was so much space and two master baths, a kitchen, a living room space, two balconies, and more! The pool was lovely and the views of mo’orea at sunset was picturesque. Would definitely stay again!
