The Perfect Saturday in Tahiti, According to Pro Surfer Vaimiti Teiefitu

"The bar at Te Moana Tahiti Resort offers the best sunset views, located on a small island with a view of Mo'orea. It's an ideal spot to start the evening with a drink."

"Rare in Tahiti, Manava sits on a white-sand beach on the island’s west coast, offering dazzling sunset views across the water to Moorea. Beyond its romantic vibe, however, the resort is actually great for families, as rooms feature full kitchens that make cooking a breeze, plus modern amenities like free WiFi and flatscreen TVs with DVD players. There’s also a gorgeous infinity pool fronting the beach and lagoon as well as an onsite restaurant, Vaitohi, which offers an extensive à la carte menu of Polynesian and international cuisine. When you need a break from the kids, head to either the Taapuna Pool Bar or the contemporary Punavai Lounge Bar."

We enjoyed the Te Moana resort, especially the swim up bar. The rooms were large and clean. The pool area has an awesome view. The resort is looking tired and needs a reno. Locals can buy a day pass and we were told that the pool has the better views than some of the other resorts. We did not have the breakfast as it was $45 USD--way over priced. The food at the bar and restaurant was good and the fish was fresh. I would recommend a room overlooking the ocean and pool.

Sadly, my husband and I only stayed here for one night. This was our first trip to French Polynesia, and we just needed someplace to stay in Tahiti before jetting off to another island the next day. Within minutes of our arrival, however, I really wished we had scheduled a longer stay! The expansive grounds and views of Moorea from our balcony and the dock were lovely. We enjoyed kicking back in the comfy seating areas, watching dolphins play and outrigger canoes speed past. The cheerful staff were all just wonderful. The private lagoon had plenty of cool fish and turned out to be a great place to safely get back into the groove of snorkeling. The resort had a complete array of water toys you could use from their dock: my husband tried paddle-boarding for the first time and I had great fun using one of the sit-on kayaks. Our room with its small kitchen was pretty and comfortable, huge and spotlessly clean. As noted by some other guests, it did have a mildew smell--not too surprising considering the high humidity in Tahiti. However, it became less noticeable when we opened the slider. If we return to this beautiful island, we will definitely try to stay here longer!

Te Moana was a great resort for our honeymoon. The grounds were beautiful and had the perfect view of Mo’orea. We booked our stay to include breakfast and it offered a huge variety of options. It was a perfect way to start each day. The pool area was scenic and relaxing, and we loved the swim up bar. The staff was always so friendly and helpful - front desk, restaurant, room service, bar - all a pleasure to work with. HUGE shoutout to Tony, who made our trip as wonderful as it was!! He’s the man, we love this guy! Not only was he the absolute greatest bar host, he’s the reason we ended up having some of the most exciting and memorable days of our trip. He gave us great suggestions of local places to check out, and was the one who suggested we rent a car to explore Tahiti and Mo’orea - which ended up being the BEST days of the trip! DO NOT hesitate to rent a car directly from the resort and catch the ferry (with the car) to Mo’orea to drive around. We caught the ferry out at 8am and returned at 4pm, and the it was the perfect day of scenic overlooks and pristine beaches. We drove up to Belvedere Lookout and pulled over to relax on the most gorgeous beaches I’ve ever seen. You will not regret doing this!! |Overall the trip was amazing and Te Moana made the perfect home-base for our honeymoon on Tahiti. |- The O’Malleys!

Got a day pass while waiting for flight home from a cruise. Compared to local prices, this was a decent deal since it included lunch and 2 hours of activity. We loved the infinity pool. There were plenty of areas for shade. Lunch was delish!! All staff was extremely nice and helpful from check in to luggage storage and access, to departure and help to get a taxi.

Not much within walking distance. Overall the resort was decent, I wouldn't Consider it luxury by any means. Food decent, ambiance was nice, including the outdoor pool and bar. Pretty pricey for food and drinks. The room was okay, not as clean as I'd like, but generally appeared to need a deep cleaning on the floors and walls. One night here was enough to know what I wouldn't spend another here if I do come back to Tahiti.

I purchased an ocean view suite online, but when I arrive, they said it was not available. However, they were able to compensate me in such a fashion that I was quite happy with everything and I had a lovely time! If you can afford it, I highly recommend the one bedroom ocean view suite. It is fantastic! The view from the balcony is stunning.

Came here with my wife on our honeymoon and they made a large effort to make our dining experience special. They gave us the best seat in the house, and if it was not for the rain it would have been even better. Thank you for the amazing experience along with your great food, everything we ordered was delicious.

The hotel is extremely worn down and the rooms & showers smell really awful, musty and moldy. Got respiratory issues from the mold after just one night & tried to cancel the rest of our stay. It took over 30 hours for us to get a response from management and the manager even refused to see us at one point, only sending one of the reception girls back and forth as a messenger because she was ”busy”. After 7 visits to the reception we were informed that ”no mold was found in our room” (a bunch of BS, if you just read the other reviews they will testify the rooms stink of mold). They would not refund the rest of our stay so we could change hotels. We were forced to stay, feeling sick the entire time.||Additionally the food at the hotel’s restaurant is extremely expensive and low quality. You’re also not allowed to have your own snacks at the pool (like a protein bar in my case). They have someone keeping an eye on you who will come & tell you to stop eating if you do.||The property also has so many birds, roosters and chickens (which might sound nice at first but I promise, it’s not). The roosters are loud through the night and you will not be able to sleep without earplugs. There is also no chance you will get to enjoy your breakfast in peace, as you’ll be shooing away said chicken and roosters, that are constantly & aggressively trying to jump on the tables.||Even if I had payed 1/3 of the cost I would NOT have been happy with our stay. Really expensive and all you get is a poor experience in return. Our entire time in Tahiti was unfortunately ruined by this hotel. Believe the bad reviews and steer clear of this place!!
