A walk through Wellington's sights reveals its storied past - SilverKris

"A waterfront canoe house and cultural hub designed with decorative gables echoing a wharenui, representing the descendants of Kupe and the voyaging traditions of waka. It operates harbour and walking experiences, with guides who begin visits with a mihi whakatau to teach tikanga and lift the sacredness of the place. Tours include launching waka from slipways for harbour trips and walking up Taranaki Street to the archaeological remains of Te Aro Pā, where stories about past village life and the ocean as ancestral highway are woven into the visit." - Rebekah White

I took the 2 hour walking tour, and the time just flew by. The tour gives a great insight into Māori culture, worldview and history. Manaaki, the guide, is a wonderful and engaging storyteller, and I learned a lot, even some new details of the stories I had heard before. Thank you so much for this amazing experience! I highly recommend this company to Wellington visitors!

We loved this tour, our local guide Tai, was a wealth of knowledge and clearly very passionate about his culture. Everyone was super friendly and we loved the inclusive nature of this tour. Thank you

Very relaxed, friendly place located metres away from Te Papa Museum & right next to Te Whairepo Lagoon. Food prices are very reasonable. Food includes Maori cuisine, takeaway or sit in, and they have an indoor/outdoor bar. The complex includes conference rooms, public rest rooms & houses a waka that is often used.

The place was pumping, busy but with a great positive vibe. The menu was varied and everyone ordered something different and enjoyed it. The staff were friendly if very busy.
