On the Grid : teakha

"Teakha serves exquisite teas steeped to perfection in an atmosphere of charm and homeliness. I love the chai tea with its spicy milky warmth. I love the green tea mousse cake with its rich matcha flavor and oh-so-velvety mousse. The space is small with half of it being taken up by the kitchen but worry not! – there's another cosy little area outside in the back alley carpeted with astro turf. Teakha is truly a little gem." - Angela Ho

They opened at 8AM, perfect for an early morning dimsum breakfast. We ordered hakaw and xiaolongpao and both were steamed fresh upon order and were just what we needed. Ms Tess is super attentive to our needs and made us feel very at home ❤️ Will definitely come back (and will possibly be regulars hehe)

Tea Kha Chinese Restaurant is absolutely outstanding! Their dim sum is some of the best I've ever had everything is fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The spring rolls are especially superb crispy on the outside, packed with delicious filling, and bursting with authentic taste. And you must try their Pata Tim - it's unbelievably tender, juicy, and melts in your mouth with every bite. The portions are generous, the service is friendly, and the ambiance is cozy and welcoming. Tea Kha is definitely my new go-to spot for Chinese comfort food. Highly recommended !

Went back and it's still our favorite spot for claypot dishes, xiao long bao, etc. the beef brisket noodle bowl seemed smaller but it's still good! Friendly staff as always. _____ 2023: We love it here. Staff are attentive and food is great quality. We already tried the dimsum, hotpot and lauriat set. Lauriat set is truly a feast -- you'll bring home a lot of leftovers. Too many good dishes so I couldn't recommend just one. When we miss Chinatown or Banawe Ave, we just walk to Teakha.

We had an appointment at Shu in the same building, but we arrived way early so we thought we'd find some place to eat. We decided to try this restaurant, which turned out to be a great decision! Their food selection was great and the quality of the food is just classic and smooth. No overpowering rich flavour. We ordered the beef wonton noodles and the assorted dim sum platter (11 pcs). If any of the standard selection of the dim sum is not available, they will make sure you have different options. Service and wait staff are also friendly.

Second time here at Teakha and I’m now writing a review because the food is delish. This time around we ordered their Beef Balls and Xiao Long Bao (no photo because it was gone in 60 seconds) for dimsum, Kingdao Spare Ribs, Steamed Suahe, Steamed Crab with Sotanghon, Beef Tendon Noodles, Salted Pepper Squid, Lo Han Chai, and Beef Tenderloin Chinese Style. We ordered a lot because there were four of us plus we had an appetite for some seafood. First off, let me commend the chef for the taste of everything we ordered. All I can say is that the seafood were fresh and did not have that “sea” taste. The shrimp and the crab were just delicious - this is the first time that I actually enjoyed “doing the work” of peeling the shrimp and cracking the crab because of the taste - it’ll make you want to order and eat more rice. The Salted Pepper Squid was good especially with a touch of vinegar. Now some criticism on some of the meat we ordered. The Kingdao Spare Ribs was okay and the Beef Tenderloin was good, they’re both a bit sweet for my taste but the tenderloin was juicy - so i’ll give it additional props for the juiciness. If you definitely like a sweeter side on the dishes you like to order, definitely order these. Overall, our experience here was worth, it’s not Gloria Maris level but it could be. Will definitely try some of their other seafood next time especially the Lapu-Lapu and the Lobster. Will also try out some of their roasting options. If you are craving for some good seafood, definitely check this place out.

Went here this October and I've never been satisfied like this before! The foods are excellent, the staffs are very polite and humorous, the atmosphere is very calming. I would definitely go here again!

This is a small Chinese restaurant along Shaw Boulevard that packs quite a punch. It’s not exactly a cheap restaurant, but it’s not unreasonably pricey either. Just about right. And the good thing is that most dishes come in small, medium and large servings, so you can choose, depending on the size of your group and budget. All the dishes we ordered were winners! Birthday Noodles - I still consider the now-defunct Mr. Choi’s Kitchen’s version the best birthday noodles in town. But Teakha’s version is also quite good and generously saucy. This is probably a little better than David’s Tea House’s version. Dimsum Platter - Mr. Choi’s Cold Platter was still superior, what with the roasted duck and pork asado cuts. But Teakha’s was quite fantastic as well, better than David’s Tea House’s and Luk Yuen’s. The pork siomai was superb, and so were the rest—beef balls, shanghai rolls, hakaw and some sort of fried siomai. Lechon Macau - it came with two dipping sauces. One is mustardy and the other citrusy. Both were delicious, but I still prefer the traditional sauce. Anyway, the pork cuts were more meat than fat, which was good. The skin was crispy. And the dish was salted well. Mapo Tofu - nothing out of the ordinary compared to other restaurants’ version, but was also delicious. It has some spicy kick to it, but the heat was just enough. Cranberry Juide - had the right level of sweetness. Tasted like your typical iced tea, but had that hint of cranberry. Black Gulaman - the usual, nothing out of the ordinary, but at least the presentation was superior. Service was good. Shortly after the wait staff seated us, we were served cold water and the usual complimentary tea. All our orders also arrived well under the 10-minute mark. (However, during our second visit, the staff — seemed different from the ones who served us on our first visit— were less attentive. They had their backs usually turned at us so it was a challenge to get their attention. So I changed my rating for Service from 5 to 4 stars.) Overall, this is a wonderful restaurant, and my family will definitely visit again.
