Great location and great service. Food was okay. Our server was very attentive and the service was quick. She was helpful in recommending dishes to order. The pork was a bit overcooked and tough, but the flavor of the sauce was great. The fried chicken dish was lacking in flavor and seasoning.

Very nice decor and a great place to try German fare. Do try the Kristal beer, it's very interesting. The pork knuckle was intriguing and the mushroom soup was great. Good service and great atmosphere!

Great and attentive service, delicious food and best beer in Munich. I ate here several times and every time things were on the same high level. Keep up the good work!

The classic Bavarian vibe and look of the hits the spot, but the food, especially the roast pork (Knuspriger Schweinebraten) and pork knuckle were underseasoned were tasteless, almost no salt. I would go for the grilled sausages, if you don't mind a very small portion. The service was OK, but not great.

We read that it’s usually much busier, we came a day after Christmas so I think because of that it was not crowded. The moment we came in we were seated, unfortunately not at a very good place even if there were maybe three other tables taken and every other table was free. They sat us at the table for two at a bad location, it was cold and next to the cash register only so we wouldn’t take up place for more people (the whole time we were there the most of the tables were free). The waiter wasn’t very kind and also didn’t know english very well. We ordered baked cow schnitzel (9/10), bavarian straw pork meat loaf (6/10) and apple pie (10/10). Schnitzels were good, bus in the sos there was a hair, I asked for a new one which the waiter didn’t say a word to, took it out of my hand, looked and left. I got a new one a few minutes later form the other waiter. For our taste the meat loaf was not so awesome. In the other hand, the apple pie was amazing as well as the beer. Tissues that are on the table were dirty and the toilet was not very clean. Our total bill was 54€. In conclusion, if you have nowhere to eat go there, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

We went three person , two of us ordered and one of our friend didn’t want to drink , they told ‘it is obligatory to eat or drink something, and this is not bus station’ with humiliating face and attitude. Employees were super rude. We didn’t like the place and left. They were super good to german speakers.

Google
Traditional German restaurant with authentic Bavarian décor and uniforms. The service was good and an English menu was offered. The pork shank (pork knuckle) is probably the best item on the menu and offers fantastic value. Outside seating when the sun is shining is an absolute must. The Bavarian meatballs were a little underwhelming although 3 were presented instead of the listed 2. I found them to be more like burgers and smaller in size than expected. The accompanying mash potatoes were delicious.

Great bar with very good beer. Service was very efficient, helpful and quick with good recommendations. Food was good and I loved the sausages. Decent prices. 🍻

Yelp
Classic German beer hall. I loved that they actually have a bar to sit at. All I wanted was to grab a beer and ended up staying for a few. The bartenders and servers were very kind and inviting. The beer was fresh and cold! It's right off the main platz so easily accessible and a great place to escape the cold Christmas markets. It's warm and a lively spot. Perfect for grabbing a beer and next time I'll try the food!

Yelp
We were told to try this beer by the rental car company employee, and we loved it! We love the original Munich brews, but this was a major highlight! The beer was something new to us and delicious. This was also one of the best service experiences we had the whole trip! Our waiter was funny and great. The look and feel of this beer hall is also a favorite. It was tastefully decorated and the locals were all watching a game giving it a fun atmosphere! Definitely try this! It was also a super short walk from Marianplatz, so very easy to navigate.

Yelp
If you're American don't even think about ordering the "meatloaf," unless you want a 1" thick slice of bologna. Otherwise, everything is great!

Yelp
We had a wonderful German feast for lunch. It was FAR too much food! We should have ordered half as much or focused on the small plate options only! But the leberkase (usually translated as German meatloaf), sausage salad and soup were all excellent! Great service. Charming atmosphere and convenient location. We would definitely dine here again. You can get some very classic German fare here that is well prepared.

Yelp
First night in Munich and I wanted to try some German food. We found this restaurant in multiple guidebooks, coming to the consensus that we had to try it. A short walk from Marienplatz, we were able to get seated quick by two other couples eating dinner at the same table. However, one of them helped a order with some great recommendations as we didn't know what to order. We were recommended to have the crispy pork that came with potatoes and cabbage as well as the clear beef soup that came with sausage and pretzels. The beef soup was really good as it was flavorful and the pretzels helped soak up the broth. The pork was alright, somewhat dry. Overall if it wasn't for the soup I would have given this place a lower review but great place to start our first dining experience here in Munich.

Yelp
Very friendly, authentic styled German beer hall my only complaint is they don't fill the beer glasses to the defined mark..even when they opened and were not busy. I can understand if you are busy, but seriously? In the spirit of balance, the blood and liver sausage meal was good, and my wife liked the goulash.

Yelp
After I enjoyed the dinner with my boss, we started walking around the city looking for a bar/pub for an afternoon drink. Knowing that we'll be going to the Oktoberfest the next day, we didn't want to get too crazy drinking and waking up with a huge hangover. This is when we walked upon this place. A nice a kind of hip place. The interior decoration might be simple, but looks very comfortable. The layout is pretty simple: a nice size dinning area in the back where the bar and a couple table at front. Since we just had dinner, we didn't even bother asking for a menu. We just told our waiter to bring us a couple beers. When the beer came, I was shock on how big the sizes of those beers were. And I was told that's the same size beers they will be serving at the Oktoberfest. Wow...! Welcome to Germany! The beers we had was pretty good. The energy in this pace was pretty good. Everyone was just chilling, hangout out and having a good time.

Yelp
Very good beers and food as well. When we arrived here it was packed therefore we took a beer at the counter while waiting for a table (we were just 2 people and had to wait less than 10 minutes). I had the veal lung with "bread-balls" which was quite good. Our waiter was quick and very friendly, probably the best service I have had in beer-hall kind of restaurant.

Yelp
This is my second time visiting this restaurant. I love the meatball setup. You can choose from an assortment of meats and different dipping sauces. And then you add on various sides to complete the meal. It's a local's restaurant that my friends introduced me to (they are native to Munchen). The beer was delicious and much cheaper than a soda. My friend decided she didn't want to drink and ended up paying 5Euro for her soda. Silly, silly friend. Drink more, and drink often is my motto. The portion size is huge and everything on the menu is scrumptious. I definitely recommend coming here over your traditional tourist trap in Munchen.

Yelp
Full disclosure: I came here for dessert and night caps, not actual dining. We had just finished at Hofbrauhaus, but weren't ready for the night to end. Dessert sounded like a good idea, and upon passing Tegernseer Tal Brauhaus, I recalled that this was a name that I had listed as a potential go-to spot. They had a menu outside, and despite the fact that neither of us really know German, we could make out "appel strudel" and "tiramisu," so we both knew that there was something for us. Upon entering, the interior is way nicer than it looks from the outside, and it's like a bier hall with some tasteful decoration to not make it look so plain. The server we had spoke very good English, so communication was no issue. We ordered the desserts we saw, and because we were in Deutschland where beer is cheaper than water, we got ourselves some more beer; it should be noted that the pours were heavy and went over the 0.5L mark on all pours we had. Our desserts were generously portioned, and tasted as good as they looked. The tiramisu came served in a long narrow glass, and almost seemed to look to nice to eat, but I still devoured it anyway, and it was not over sweet and was overall very delicious. As a whole, I liked this place tremendously. The location was convenient and very centralized in the city, the staff was nice and service good, the desserts were delicious, the beers were heavy, and I don't recall spending that much. Overall, it's an easy five stars, and I'd come back to this place again if I'm ever back in München.

Yelp
New management must be in place, the experience was great! Food was good and service was prompt and welcoming.

Yelp
I have always loved visiting the Tegernseer Brauerei which is located about an hour from Munich. In fact, it's one of my favourite towns to visit in Bavaria and, the beautiful Biergarten is located next to the lake. So when a friend and I decided to go here in the city centre, my expectations were high, and this place delivered much more :-)))) It's located on the Tal minutes away from Marienplatz and is directly opposite to one of my favourite places in Munich, the Weissesbrauhaus:-)) The interior is pretty simple and well done and the waiters are very nice and polite and dressed in traditional wear. The menu here is quite extensive and as per usual I looked for something unusual on the menu and found bison which is farmed in Bavaria but, not often found on menus. Their supplier are local farmers and they care about the origin and source of the products they use. The menu has listed names of the farmers that supply the meat and fish and so on. I ordered the Bisonfleichpfanzerl which is a Bavarian burger without the bun. I also ordered some Bratkartoffle, a paprika and Chilli sauce and, a side tomato and onion salad. The food arrived on a beautiful wooden tray and it looked great. It tasted amazing and I enjoyed every morsel. In fact, I ordered another side salad and some bread to mop up every single bit off the plate and tray :-))) My friend loved his duck and he also followed suite with the bread and mopped his plate clean ;-)) Beer here is excellent and they serve Hopf Weißbier from Meisbach which is located close to Tegernsee. Service is excellent and friendly and we had a wonderful evening. This will definitely be one of my go to places for great Bavarian food and beer in the future :-)) I am so glad I finally ate here. I have previously sat outside here and had a beer. A great place for a wonderful meal in town.

Yelp
What time do you stop serving dinner on Thursday nights? I want to make sure we get there in time for dinner when we are in town.

Yelp
Best part: their kitchen is open till midnight (or maybe even later), which is much later than any other restaurant in the vicinity. The food is of high quality and cooked to perfection, making it great value for money. Do note that the portions are huge, so order wisely. The staff was also extremely friendly and readily gave us suggestions on what to order, without ripping us off. I suggest you get a few dishes to share, but definitely get the roast plate!

Yelp
Poor service. We had a reservation but it still took forever to get seated despite the place being nearly empty. There were 3 servers just standing around, none of who wanted to help. When we did get seated the waiter repeatedly ignored us. In the end, we had to walk up to the counter to pay after being ignored for a good solid 30 minutes while trying to wave someone down for the check. The food and drinks were mediocre at best. We both got a burger, which was more sauce than substance. I guess it was necessary for the dryness of the patty. Would not recommend this place at all.

Yelp
Above-average Wirthouse food in the city center. If I had the option, I'd give it 3.5 stars but rounded up because service is better than average and the interior is cleaner, brighter and cheerier than your typical Wirthaus. Plus the variety of dishes is very good. You will see the typical offerings such as schnitzels, spaetzle, Brotzeit and of course various kinds of Wurst (the Nuremburger here are some of the best I've tried in the city). They also have very good burgers and seasonal specials. It is the best place for Weisswurst breakfast I've tried in Munich. There is also free wifi-available.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this restaurant just off the Marienplatz. Tasty food and good beer for reasonable prices. Further, they had live classic German music, which was a really cool experience that added to the ambience. I felt like it was more of a local place than tourists-- despite its touristy location. So don't be afraid to come and get some good food.

Yelp
Could not imagine more atrocious customer service. I had a family of 6 adults and 2 children and asked in advance if we could have a table tor drinks and desserts, to which they said yes. Then, once in the table, the waiter who happened to be the acting manager, went back on our agreement and said rude remarks about our order (demanding a dinner order from our group). He was inexplicably rude to us tourists seeing his city and I don't imagine a worse restaurant experience for a visiting tourist in Munich. If you want the worst of Bavaria, come here.

Julia B.

Yelp
The service was VERY bad and unprofessional. We wanted to originally go across the street for food, but the wait was too long so we settled for this place our last dinner in Munich. When our waiter came he said he spoke English ,so my brother asked him question about the food. He acted irritated , then said I'll just come back and hurried off. I don't read or speak German well so I opted for the English menu and asked how large the meatballs were and he said small. So I said " ok I'll have 1 of the mixed.." he cuts me off with " you'll have two?" I continue " No, one of the mixed meat and one veggie meatballs and I'll have fried potatoes as my side" he says okay and runs off before we can tell him we would also like water and pretzels for the table so we must flag him again for this. **Food arrives and he tries to hand me french fries. I smile and said " I'm sorry I ordered the fried potatoes side. This is not my order." He holds it closer and says " this is okay" again I smile and say no I would prefer the fried potatoes. He visibly rolls his eyes and goes to the kitchen then brings another man back holding the same order of french fries. We explain to him also (in German by translation of my mother who is fluent) and point out on the menu what I actually ordered. Again then return to the kitchen and AGAIN he brings the fries back and tries to hand to me " but this is okay??" NO! Long story short they finally brought my correct fried potatoes which was just okay by taste and also the meatballs were huge like the size of an orange. When the bill came my sister in law still tipped and very well for the service we received, but explained that what he did was rude and made me uncomfortable. Then he tried to pretend that now he doesn't speak English all the sudden. Funny how that works... We didn't believe him. Do not recommend.

Yelp
We had to wait a while to get a table but it was worth it! It looks like a tourist trap but it was packed with locals. The food was delicious (grilled wurst with potato salad and schhweinebraten with cabbage and potato dumpling) and the beer even so. I can recommend this to everyone who is looking for a typical local food (but beware, it's bery heavy in the stomach)!

Gregory F.

Yelp
Not bad but there are many better options right in the same area. It does not have a full German menu.

Andy B.

Yelp
The food here is definitely a cut above your average German beer hall. We enjoyed all of the food and beer very much. The only reason I didn't rate this five stars is that there were a lot of people smoking outside and it carried all the way into the dining area. Next time we would insist on sitting in the very back - away from the door...
