Teichelmanns Bed and Breakfast

This was a fabulous ‘home away from home‘ and everything from the welcome cup of tea in the beautiful hydrangea filled garden to the comfy bed was perfect. |We stayed in the little cottage which is beautifully furnished in a homely style and so comfortable and clean! The shower is to die for! We even had robes! |Brian and Frances are a very hospitable couple and both are full of information on the house and Hokitika itself. It was a joy talking to them. |The breakfast was brilliant. Homemade preserves, fruit, yogurt, eggs and bacon amongst other temptations. |We stayed for two nights and would happily have stayed for more.

My partner & I spent 2 nights at Teichelmann’s B&B and found the hospitality & cooked breakfast second to none. Frances & Brian were the most considerate hosts (nothing was too much of a problem). The house itself & the room was charming & super clean (beds were comfy & shower pressure great). Location was perfect. Thank you for a wonderful West Coast experience. We will be returning again. We had the best experience staying with Francis and Brian, such a warm welcome and very comfortable home from home amenities plus a wonderfully comfortable bed. |Francis & Brian hosted us and their other guests superbly and we felt part of an extended family, our only regret was that we were only staying one night!|If you’re planning on visiting Hokitika make sure you book at Teichelmann’s, you won’t want to leave!

We had the priviledge of spending 2 nights enjoying the world class hospitality of Brian and Frances. The welcome, the luxurious accomodation, the amazing breakfasts has created an amazing memory of our time in Hokitika while biking the West Coast trail! Thanks to you both! Absolutely wonderful.

Lovely home and garden in the back. Hosts Brian and Frances were adorable. Cooked to order breakfast was great.

This place is a bit dated but has charming hosts. It is located in the centre of Hokitika with several sites within walking distance. There is ample free parking in front of the place. The hosts were very pleasant and helpful. The room was a little cramped with large comfortable beds and a bathroom across the hall. The shower curtains vacuum into the stall but the shower has good hot water as you take a shower. There was some street noise with the windows open. There is no air conditioning but a fan was provided and the room did cool off at night. The breakfast was good and tasty. They provide a beautiful common room with free sherry or port. The electrical outlets tended to cut out after 20 minutes of use.| Overall, it was not good value for money.

We can't speak high enough about Frances & Brian. They welcomed our group of 6, following a very wet bike ride to TreeTops. Took all our wetclothets yo a special laundry room to dry. Love the house, each room with ensuite, and wall oil heaters, Enjoyed their company for afternoon tea,coffee & cookies.They also provided us a fantastic breakfast & lunch to take on our next days bike ride.

We stayed one night at this old fashioned B&B. It was great! Our hosts Francis and Brian were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The room was comfortable and airy with exclusive use of a shower and toilet across the hall. |A good breakfast was a communal affair with other guests and our hosts. It felt very homely. |As it was pouring with rain when we checked out Brian kindly walked us to our car with an umbrella as we carried our bags. Service doesn’t get much more personal than that. |Highly recommended.
