Teji's

I have gone to Teji's a couple of times and have returned, but today will be the last. I'm not sure if they're under new management, but the quality of food has diminished. Getting a chicken curry combo, the naan bread was burnt, the vegetables in the vegetable entree were mushy and lacked spices, and the chicken curry was salty yet spice-less. I am truly dissatisfied in this experience.

We went austin last weekend and we crave for indian masala tea. Fortunately we got an option near our stay as Teji Indian restaurant but i would say it was not upto our expectation. We order pakoras and masala tea. Pakoras were sour and when we told the owner he took the pakoras back and told us that these were pre- made pakoras and if he is going to bring again it would same the taste. Though he refunded us the money for pakoras. Now come to tea, it was nothing like masala tea. We felt we are having tea boiled with milk thats all. There was no taste of ginger, cardamom We were really disappointed and we would like then t take a note of our reviews and inprove themselves

This is by far the worst "Indian" food I have ever had in my life... And I have had Indian food in India and around the world so I have a pretty good gauge. The butter chicken we ordered had an okay sauce but the chicken was literally boiled chicken breast, diced and thrown into the sauce.. there was no flavor in the chicken at all. The vindaloo was the biggest joke. It literally tasted like sour tomato sauce with pieces of lamb inside. Spices? aroma? forget about that 🤣 Do yourself a favor and just buy the frozen Indian entrees at Trader Joe's.. I will pick that over this trash anytime of the day.

The sauce is very watery. I took a video but couldn’t post it. In the video, you can hear the sauce dropping like water drops from the spoon, that’s how watery it is. I ordered this from their ghost kitchen on Ubereats. The food was like 15 dollars, which is too much for the small portion they sent. I also ordered lamb biryani. The biryani was made with regular rice instead of Basmati rice. The rice was super mushy and overcooked. It’s supposed to be different layers of fluffy basmati rice. I don’t know how it is in the actual restaurant but the ghost kitchen is definitely not recommended.

The food was very poor in quality we ordered Keema naan which was barely with Keema. Butter chicken that was underdone and biryani’s which were meager in quantity and very sadly not at all like the ones we eat in Round rock branch. It was a total waste of money, time and effort to drive to downtown from north Austin.

Slow service, rubbery paneer, and flavourless gravy - I’m not sure if I should have mentioned that I have an Indian palate or if I should give the place another shot when I have more time - but didn’t feel authentic Indian at all. Portion sizes weren’t something to write home about either.

This place closes at 3 am which is one of the reason why I come here the most. But the experience hasn’t been very pleasant. Once I placed an order through the phone and they messed up my order, it was all boxed up. I figured it out even without opening the box, but they refused to change it or take it back as I had already paid. Anyway the only reason I come here is that it is the only Indian restaurant around UT.

This place is just terrible, I mean the food was fine I guess and the service was alright, but one thing that ain’t right is that this place doesn’t even have a decent clean surrounding, which is pretty stupid considering it has to be a clean place for customers to enjoy the place, but I guess they thought it’s whatever.
