Tekweni Backpackers Hostel

Tekweni Backpackers hostel is the best choice for a perfect stay in Durban. With its perfect location just off Florida road you have everything at hand, restaurants, clubs, etc. The hostel is cosy, clean and budget, with a friendly staff. Defenetely recommend

I will never book with this place ever again😡 In the beginning of our communication beautiful pictures were sent and i thought this is great. To my surprise and not a pleasant surprise that my staff were extremely upset with the conditions, the shower light was not working there was sewerage by the main door where they were expected to enter right by the door🤢🤮. They were given a small wooden shed well expected to stay in it basically the size of the sheds you use in your back garden to keep the law mover etc... in fact it looked just like a tool shed. The pictures that were sent to me were either very old like in back in the heydays most definitely is not the situation nowadays. Very disappointing looks are very deceiving.

Its a great place for a budget stay over. Its 100m from Florida road, a tourist night life hotspot.

The hostel is a great place, with lovely staff in a great location! The staff from the very beginning made efforts to make me feel comfortable and at home, answering questions, showing me to places nearby where I needed to go. It can be very very quiet at the hostel, so it depends on what you’re looking for in a hostel… it may not be the place in Durban to meet new friends. That said, the place is so cool in a great location, and if they had volunteers to create a good vibe here and chill with the guests it could be so much better and more popular Thanks!!

Just a pity there is no zero. DONT and I repeat DONT stay here. It's like staying in the slums. Place smells like a shebeen and it's very dirty, when you sit on the beds feels like some creepy crawly is walking on you. We could not sleep there because of this reason and he refused to refund us. Don't make the mistake we made, save your money.

Great place and location.two blocks from windemere shopping center. 20 meters from Florida Ave with lots of good restaurants. 20 minute walk to the beach.i stay here every time I'm in Durban. Patrick, the owner, is my Bro and really cares about his guests. Best backpacker's in Durban

As an old staff member at Tekweni I must say things have changed. It was very nice spending two nights there it was very peaceful no noise. I was happy to be given my old room to sleep as a guest. I must say the staff was very friendly and the security guard Mzakes who checked me in he was also friendly |I must say I enjoyed my stay at Tekweni keep up the good work |Thank you

This is a great Durban hotel, situtated just off the Florida road. Been coming here for years. When the bar goes off it goes off. The swimming pool is a welcome relief in the summer months to help one with the Durban heat. Florida road has many restaurants and bars so it is always easy to stay well fed and well watered.
