17 Best Things to Do in Madrid

"Madrid Teleférico is a cable car service that connects both sides of Madrid, crossing the river and helping locals avoid rush-hour traffic on their morning and evening commutes. You'll also see photo-snapping tourists and some families—on the other side of the river is Casa de Campo, an amusement park and zoo. It's a great way to gain a new perspective of the city, especially its vast quantity of green spaces." - Ramsey Qubein

Teleférico de Madrid - Tour Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"What’s the big picture here? Madrid Teleférico is a cable car service that connects both sides of Madrid, crossing the river and helping locals avoid rush-hour traffic on their morning and evening commutes. It also appeals to tourists looking to get a bird's-eye view of the city, or to get a new perspective on Madrid—especially its green spaces and architecture. Who all rides the cable car? This is a vital mode of transit for locals commuting to work. You'll also see photo-snapping tourists and some families; after all, on the other side of the river is Casa de Campo , an amusement park and zoo. Where should we put this on our list trip priorities? There are more important things to do in Madrid than ride this aerial tram, so save this for the end of your visit—after you've familiarized yourself with the different neighborhoods." - Ramsey Qubein

Great ride to have almost a birds eye view of the Madrid cityscape! It come to 6.5€ for a round trip and 4.5€ one way suggest you go for the return option as there’s nothing to see on the other side unless you want to take a stroll around the park or get your cycle

Great to have a view of such a big city from the air for a cheap price...for first time in Madrid it worth it. Enjoyable with children. Your last return is at 19.00 so enough time to have a walk in the park and even family pic nic. The restaurant is under renovation-check opening. Handicap friendly not sure about wheelchair.

A cable car visit that will let you see a chunk of the city from higher up. At €6 return it is worth a trip and it is central enough so easy to access. Definitely worth taking the return trip as there is little to nothing at the top of the hill other than the viewing area.

Nice one to get a view from the city and to visit Casa de Campo. The return ticket costs 6 euro and the journey no more than 10 minutes. Make sure the sky is clear to get the best views. Also, they might stop the service on days of heavy rain or storms.

One can reach here by metro or Cercanías at Principal Pío and Moncloa. The timings start at 12:00 - 20:00 with 30 mins extension (12:00-20:30) during the weekend. On Saturday, it operates from 12:00-21:00. Special hours apply on public holidays. The prices are around 6,00€ per person for a round trip ticket, 4,50 for a single trip ticket. Special rates apply for children and senior citizens. Overall it would take around 10 minutes per side on the cable car and you can spend a couple of hours for picnic. Overall, it is a nice place to visit.

Horrible experience. First of all, the cable car was built in 1969 and was not renovated since. The cable car stations are decrepit and look almost abandoned. The cable cars are old and creaky to an extent that half of them are not in use anymore. In fact one broke just before we were going to get on! The facilities are closed and most of them have not been tended to since the 70’s, and have been taped off! What makes it worse is that the waiting time for getting in the cable car is around 1 hour for an 11 minute ride. This is because the system which slows down the cable car dosent work anymore and all cable cars have to be stopped manually. The cable cars have little balance and rock side to side with an odd number of people. Workers pay little regard for safety, they let 5 people get into the 4 people cable car and do not even out the people in the cars, which makes the wait even slower. Prices are OK, 6€ per person for a round trip, but the company should be paying you for wasting your time and risking your life on the rusty cable car! I would avoid, but there is no other way to get up on the hill, unless you fancy an even longer hike. This service should be renovated or closed down instantly!!!
