Telemachos Athens - Awarded meat & wine restaurant

We were lucky to go to this fancy restaurant without booking a table. It's a very nice restaurant, tasty food, amazing service. I did a surprise for the birthday of my bf , he's a meat lover. The meat choice is very good and the taste of it, is AMAZING ! We had a very romantic moment and we ate very good. However, the restaurant was expensive , which put this restaurant as a special occasion restaurant

Tucked away at the very end of a hidden alleyway, we discovered one of the best steak restaurants! It's located near a bakery called Paul. We ordered a tomahawk steak for two with fried potatoes, and everything was decadent and delicious! It was a Friday night, and we had no reservations. We were also concerned that we were dressed too casually for such a nice place. However, we were greeted right away and warmly welcomed. The highlight of our visit was the people. They were incredibly kind and friendly. Not only did they take the time to go over the menu and offer recommendations, but they also talked about nearby attractions like Meteora, Corinth, and Olympia. The interior was polished and grand but had a very homey feel. We walked from our hotel near the Parliament building, so I'm unsure about parking. However, I liked how it's relatively close to popular areas like Plaka and Syntagma Square. The restroom/WC is located downstairs and was very clean. If you’re looking for a high-quality steakhouse with fair prices, I highly recommend this place!

The restaurant looks fancy , the food was delicious and bit late but good quality , service was great too. The location is in midtown and cousy atmosphere . I do recommend.

While in a business trip, made a reservation online for 9pm on a Friday night, was quiet at this time but when I arrived, oddly there was no no host at the entrance, though someone came fairly quickly. Ambiance seemed nice, fairly high end, on par for the neighborhood. I was hoping to try their menu special #2 which included several meats and cuts that I saw on another review, but it was no longer on their menu anymore. Then I decided to get something simple; their lamb chops for 35€ under Greek specialties and a glass of Sauvignon for 7€. Service seems to have taken a while and I think they saw me having to wait so they did give me a complimentary dish, that seemed to be composed of lamb and liver, forgot the name but decent 3/5. My lamb dish arrived a little while later and came with some toasted bread, as they didn’t have any veggies as a side. The lamb was cooked well and quite tender, however lacked seasoning and presentation was rather sad as you can see on the photo. As I finished my dish, the place got more crowded and it took a while to get my bill. Overall, nice ambiance, but food is lacking in flavour and presentation, though, that could have been my choice of dish. Service was ok, and I am grateful for the complimentary dish so 3/5 instead of 2/5, but it was definitely not above average.

Located in a beautiful building in the centre of Athens. Meat was indeed good (albeit not special) but it lacked proper temperature and it had the poorest presentation I have ever seen. Taliata was almost cold and did not have anything else on the plate, just meat on an indifferent white plate. Kidney was tasty and hot but, again, it lacked beauty in its presentation. Salad was just ok and the sausage was good. Mashed potatoes smelled of canned milk and had a blunt taste, much like the ready made ones. Service was mediocre at best. The waiter would not look around to see if we needed anything. Place was empty except for us and a couple. Some refilling of the glasses at least once with wine would have been a nice gesture (maybe it is their policy not to help serve the wine). A highly disappointing experience, not worth the hype.

Nice people, nice atmosphere combining old Athens with the new one, excellent menu and amazing wine. It well deserves the price

Service was poor. We arrived at 9:35, we managed to order at 10:00 and the food was served at 11:10, when we were not hungry anymore. Many of the dishes we wanted to order were not available, as we were informed after placing our order. We ordered our T-bone medium and it was served rare, and the rib eye came medium well although we ordered it medium rare (obviously it was first cut and then cooked to save some time!) The quantities listed in the menu and charged had nothing to do with the quantities served… When we complained for the delay, they offered us something to eat which we had not ordered. When we complained about the cooking, the owner turned to the chef, instead of apologizing himself. He proposed to replace the overcooked meat, but we refused- probably we should have to wait for another hour to have proper dinner. He offered us desert, instead of not charging the poor dishes! Simple things they should have done to show minimum respect to their customers. It’s a shame for such a renowned and expensive restaurant… I regret I chose to celebrate my birthday there…

In my view, there are some inconsistencies between some behaviours and a restaurant class with an average spent well over 50€. To name a few, the maitre (I guess this is what he was) should not greet diners wearing his own daily clothes when the rest of the staff is in uniform, and on top of that, having his shirt thrown over his belt hanging freely as if strolling in a park. Another thing that struck me was the absence of a typical digital or even paper-based ordering system; the orders were recorded on a square yellow coloured Post-it (repeat, square yellow coloured Post-it)! The scene with the waiter struggling to write the orders on this small piece of yellow paper while holding it in the air, was not very complementary to the restaurant image. For the rest of the experience, the decor was excellent (as always), the rest of the staff was very polite and welcoming, but we could not fail to notice that past pleasantries such as a variety of salts and a welcoming treat to enjoy, while waiting for the order to arrive, are no longer offered. All in all, the value for money does not score well, making my next visit very unlikely to happen any time soon.....
