Good taste Portuguese food with reasonable price. Seafood here is fresh and served in shell. That makes soup taste natural sweet from seafood itself. Cod dish is not fillet, hence if you ain’t like dealing with fish bone, please be aware. Wine here has many options. Port wine is sweet and that makes you drunk faster. It fit to be aperitif. Dessert here is great. Staff is friendly and they can help you recommending food and wine.

One of best meals in Porto. Beautiful ambiance for a date or family meal. Large portions and great prices. Steak and charcuterie were perfect but the linguine was the best. The server also offered a great grilled chicken with rice and fries for our little guy

Although it's in a very touristic part of Gaia, this place is still worth to visit, a welcoming and good quality restaurant 😊 The staff is very nice, the food is good and expect big portions (a main dish could be even shared by 2). Good athmosphere, just can be a bit chilly inside if sitting downstairs. We ate here 2 times during our 1 week stay and liked it both times 🙂

We've read all the good reviews and were really happy that we managed to get the table without waiting. Unfortunately we were not satisfied with our meal. The worst one we had in Portugal. I ordered octopus with shrimps, clams and seafood sauce- I've got the soup instead. Soup with potato chips. Gratin codfish was soaked in mayonnaise, so actually you couldn't taste the fish. And potato chips of course. We were totally disappointed.

Delectable seafood, excellent service. We sat by the heater, opened a bottle of wine, enjoyed our meal during sunset while people watching. Couldn't get better than that. Would recommend.

Google
Great food for an affordable price especially for the area! We didn’t reserve a table so we waited on chairs infront of the restaurant which didn’t take long at all and it was definitely worth the wait! Service was fast and overall was a great atmosphere even though it can look quite busy. I would also recommend the homemade lemonade just make sure to have sugar as it can be quite bitter!

It's a very Tourististic place so keep in mind if it doesn't matter for you to be crowded and full of people, and waiters Don't have time for you. I didn't know Portuguese so my choice from menu was confusing and plate of Sepia Doesn't have sepia! Waiter were kind to substitute this plate so I had to wait more time. Meanwhile my partner clearly asked for Meat Well done and his meat wasn't cooked, almost bleeding and talking to him. Portions of water and drink were quite small. But as I said it's touristic place, so the ambiance in general was nice and all dishes were looking amazing!

The food was AMAZING. We had sliced steak, salmon, chicken - all things that are usually tricky to cook to perfection, but they did it all beautifully (butter-melt-in your mouth vibes!) The food was quick and service friendly and great once we were seated. They are generally quite busy, and it takes some waiting to get seated but definitely worth it. Will 100% recommend.

Yelp
I had dinner at Tempêro d'Maria on a Wednesday night at 8:30 PM, and the joint was jumping with locals (a good sign). The outdoor seating was nearly full, as was the indoor, and it was quite noisy with chatter and laughter. The food was very good for a bar and grille type of restaurant. I had the burger with cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, lettuce and tomato with a side of French fries and a delicious mayonnaise based dipping sauce. The bun was not too thick and the flavorful burger was cooked medium (although the server did not ask me how I wanted it cooked). I was a little surprised that I was given a sealed bottle of water when I asked for "just water" to drink. But in hindsight, I guess this is actually a good thing. I'm glad I ate at Tempêro d'Maria. I may return for a different delectable dinner while I'm in Vila Nova do Gaia.

Yelp
One of the waterfront restaurants in Gaia we came across that is busier than others so we took our chances. Luckily it didn't disappoint! We sat on the second floor, wide and spacious and quiet. Service was excellent ! Our server was very nice and patiently waited for 8 of us to make our order. They serve typical Portuguese cuisine and we really enjoyed it. Food was very good.

Yelp
I had an eggplant vegetarian lasagna and it was pretty good but it comes super hot. We sat outside and they had a few heaters so it felt good and cozy The lemonade comes without sugar and even after 3 packs of sugar was still not sweet haha Service was ok.

Yelp
Amazing dinner in Porto. The nero de seppia (squid ink pasta) and garlic shrimps were well mixed with fresh ocean taste and quality ingredients. The eggplant lasagna was also outstanding. The potatoes chips were a bit soggy. But the food overall was great

Yelp
GAIA PORTUGAL - 04/24/23 - My wife and I were walking on the other side of the river in Gaia when we stumbled upon Tempero d'Maria. As we walked along we noticed the menu boards on several places along the riverwalk. As recommended by the server we ordered the grilled octopus w/spinach greens, potatoes & olives. This octopus was very tender & delicious cooked & seasoned to perfection We also ordered the Bacalhau Gratinado. This cod was covered w/a crispy corn meal topping. This also came w/spinach greens, olives & baked potatoes We got a mojito w/fresh mint leaves & a variety of smashed fruits adding just the right sweetness to this delicious drink. As we sat there dining Tempêro D'Maria filled up and packed the exterior outdoor seating w/people standing outside waiting to be seated. This restaurant was a very pleasant surprise w/excellent food.

Yelp
I am all for a euro dinner, but the service here was next level slow. Our dinner lasted over 3 hours simply because we could not get the waiters attention. My little sister and I both ordered steak-- cooked medium. Mine came out perfect, and hers came out blue. Inedible (she tried). We ended up sharing my meal bc we couldn't get our server to come grab the steak and cook it longer! Positives: Beautiful view, right by the riverfront. Convenient to walk to if you're staying at the nearby hostels.

Yelp
Nice restaurant located on the main riverfront walk way in Gaia. Menu is fairly diverse with a nice selection of starters, fish, assorted meats and desserts to choose from where prices are very reasonable considering their location in Gaia. For my first meal there I had the Pepper Sirloin steak dinner which cost 16.5 Euros that came with a nice house salad and house made crisps (Potato chips) . The steak was fairly large with a decent thickness allowing the meat to be cooked to a perfect medium doneness as I had ordered . Flavor was good, but not great, which I was absolutely OK with considering the price point of the meal and the prime location of the restaurant. My one minor qualm with the meal is that I would have preferred a different potato choice other than the chips. Relative to the Restaurant layout, it has has all the bases covered with both inside and outside dining where the outside patio area offers great views for people watching and of the Porto city landscape along the river which adds a great deal to the overall dining experience. Staff is polite but I would say to the point with their discussions which is probably due to the deluge of tourists they deal with all day long. Service was a tad slow and follow up could have been better but I think there is a cultural element here that Americans are not accustomed too where I think the Europeans eat their meals at a more leisurely pace versus Americans and that is probably a factor in some of the comments I have seen about this business. Having said that, overall I had a very good dining experience here where I definitely would not hesitate in going back in the future and probably will before I return to the States.

Yelp
I am usually suspicious of restaurants on the waterfront in a touristy part of town, but was pleasantly surprised by the good meal here. I had the Roast Octopus with Potatoes and Turnip Greens. The octopus was tender with a nice char. The potatoes were soaked in a pool of oil (1 star off), but the turnip greens were very garlicky (to my liking). My husband had the Chicken Breast Stuffed with Sausage. The chicken breast was seasoned well and the sausage had a nice smoked flavor. The sauce on top was made from a local cheese called Serra da Estrella. The side salad had a nice tarragon vinaigrette. For dessert, we shared the Banoffee Pie and enjoyed that as well. We went on a Monday night when several other restaurants were closed. This restaurant was open and it was busy. The staff worked pretty efficiently to get us seated, take our order, and bring out our food. I would not mind just getting a drink here another time. May I suggest their Porto Tonico? It's like a white sangria but with white port!

Yelp
Great little restaurant along the Gaia waterfront with ample outdoor seating. I considered the food to be significantly tastier than the majority of the riverfront restaurants. Friendly service.

Yelp
I would expect the restaurants located in this part of Gaia to all be a terrible tourist trap so when my sister and I resigned ourselves to the fact that we have to have mediocre food in order to enjoy the dinner time view and sunset we did a brief search for placed that might have decent reviews (since Yelp reviews are hard to come by in Portugal). We were not disappointed. In fact we came back for dinner a few days later and had the exact same things. We ordered the squid ink seafood pasta and the octopus dish. Both were delicious, some of the best octopus we had on this trip (and we had a lot of octopus). You know this is a good place given that there is a dinner time line, meanwhile the other places are empty. Overall, we were seated almost immediately on our first trip, maybe 20 min later on our second. If you are in Gaia, this is a solid choice.

Yelp
Vegan option was a pasta with mushrooms and tomato. It was very good and the view was great

Yelp
I dislike writing bad reviews but our experiences were so egregiously horrible that I needed to speak up. In Porto for 6 days. First night we went to Tempero d'Maria. Lovely dinner. My husband had the Tempero burger. I had bacahalu gratin. All delicious. Four hours later I was violently ill with the worst food poisoning I have ever had. Three days later I feel well enough to go out to dinner again. I agreed with my husband that it must have been the fish or the mayonnaise sauce. He really liked the hamburger he'd had so we went back to Tempero Damaris. He had the burger and a side of turnip greens (which I tasted; they were delicious). I had the Francesinha and a small salad. The salad was excellent. I thought the Francesinha was just so-so. Four hours later, my husband was violently ill with food poisoning. He told me he had found tiny shards of bone in the burger that he picked out and that it tasted different from the previous one. We can't be the only people who had this experience. It's been an awful week and I don't foresee us returning.

Yelp
I give them one star for good presentation and friendly faces, nevertheless, the food was awful. Got bad stomach aches right away. I have had food in Portugal and they were good in most places. Their Sirloin stakes and Monkfish should not be touched.

Yelp
Solid meal on the Gaia Duoro riverfront. They took our order right before the kitchen closed and we still got to eat dessert. And the dessert was worth it. The food was heavily portioned. I did not enjoy the codfish but it's not to my taste. The chicken was good. The salad that accompanies the meal is great and simple. Balsamic vinagrette makes things so much better. The garlic parsley butter is worth the euro. The best thing however was the chocolate fondant. It melted right on the slate board, oozing out of its shell in deliciousness. The restaurant is cozy especially now that it's chilly with heated burners and floral accents.

Yelp
Outdoor cafe offers a great view of the river and perfect for people watching. Love the atmosphere, cozy vibe. Positive: The service staff was welcoming, warm and attentive. They speak good English. The port tawny wine selection was excellent. The food presentation was also good. Good value for your money. Negative: I went for a late lunch and ordered the steak with port wine sauce. It comes with a salad and served over homemade chips. Although I ordered my steak medium rare, it came out very well done. It was dry, bland and just tough. I think that the quality of the steak cut was not good. The sauce was saving the steak from a total letdown. Overall experience was just mediocre. I love the place just didnt like the food and taste. With so many other good restaurants in the area, most likely will not come back.

Yelp
Amazing food. Loved to octopus especially but honestly everything was amazing. great view of the water, patio seating, but they also have a very nice inside.

Yelp
Porto: Had a lovely afternoon at this restaurant in Porto. The patio had heaters and our food was very good. The salmon was cooked perfectly and their wine selection was diverse.

Yelp
This place is great. We stumbled into here on our first night in Porto. We were waiting for our dinner reservation. We were jetlagged, crabby and impatient, and we could sneak into Tempero d'Maria right away. We ordered a flight of port, mostly because I wanted to taste the white port without committing to a glass. They let us split the one flight (six small glasses) between the two of us. We ordered a cheeseboard, as to not get too drunk. We hadn't eaten all day. Out comes this ENORMOUS cheese board, and we ended up eating it all. Of course all the port is local (duh), and so are the breads and cheeses. Solid choice. Definitely recommend... if you can find this place.

Yelp
This place was pretty good! The ambiance was really nice and the wait staff was super friendly. We split the francesina and the shrimp rice which were both very good! It was a little bit pricier because it was on the water but a great option

Yelp
This place is excellent!!! Picturesque, cozy, excellent music, and warm fires in outdoor seating area. Wait staff speaks English and is very attentive. We had the linguini with vegetables - delicious and creamy - and the tomato lettuce salad, which was a dramatic step up from the typical iceberg tomato onion mix. This featured cucumber, romaine, onion "chips," and what I believe was sweet, slightly fermented cabbage. SO GOOD. The descriptions on their posted are bare, but don't dismiss this lovely locale due to the lack of copywriting prowess. It's definitely a gem.
