My wife and I availed of the Golden Years package. 3nights b+b and a meal on one night. Also included were yummy fresh scones with tea and/or coffee. Excellent value for money. This was our second visit and we certainly were not disappointed. The staff are friendly and helpful and they are great ambassadors for the hotel. Housekeeping was excellent. Our room was serviced every day and left spotless. Thank you to the hardworking housekeeper. Food was really nice and very generous portions. I love that this hotel is so handy to Ennis which is a great shopping town and has lots of entertainment. We thoroughly enjoyed our drive around the County exploring Kilrush, Kilkeel, Lahinch, The Burren, Ballyvaughan and various other beautiful towns and villages. A lovely County with friendly welcoming people.

On all the "essentials" I.e. service, staff, comfy bed, cleanliness, breakfast, location with free parking this hotel merits full marks. However myslight downgrading is because of the dated decor. The rooms & bathrooms definitely need modernising. If the hotel had been cheaper this would not have bothered us, but on our current road trip we've also stayed at a hotel in Tralee & now one in Cork City with very modern rooms at lower rates. As we have family in Ennis we will be back and would def return to Temple Gate if the rooms are modernised as every other aspect was great!

The location is perfect to access the charming village, restaurants, and shops. Be prepared for no AC, although the hotel does provide a tower fan. The rooms were well kept and clean, but if you are looking for glamorous this is not for you. Wash cloths in the bathroom would be a nice addition. The hotel has interesting history as it was formerly a convent. A nearby museum that provides more history is nearby. Breakfast buffet is provided and had a good variety of foods and juices and pasties on our first day. You can also have table service from the menu, however, on our second day which was our departure day the food was sparse, service was not good, even glasses were not available for juices or water and no table service appeared available even for coffee or tea. Our travel agent gave us two options for the area. Our only other option in the area was 8 times more expensive per night which made this the option of choice.

We stumbled upon Temple Gate, simply looking for a hotel close to Shannon Airport and was pleasantly pleased with our accommodations, so much so we stayed another night. The hotel staff was exceptionally welcoming, assisted in every way to make our stay memorable. From front desk services, room comfort and other service, and meals in the pub, we couldn't be more pleased. I especially want to give a shout out to our receptionist Maria for all she did to make our stay so enjoyable, giving us great tips for exploring the town, including 'must-see' attractions, and just otherwise taking the time from a very busy workday to give us her uninterrupted attention. For these reasons, and others, we will use Temple Gate again as our number 1 choice in our return trips to Ireland.

The Temple Gate hotel looks amazing on the website, the reception is a vast space that both welcomes you and makes you want to explore the rest. The welcome email to check in was great to have all of the bites done before arrival. ( When i arrived i had to sign the same form) why do they have the online option if you have to do it in person as well. The rooms are spotless, but very dated, I stayed on the top floor, No aircon, and an annoying buzzing all night. I informed reception and but did not action my request. ||On arrival to the Breakfast room a staff member said you can sit there!! (Where?)The breakfast room was fully staffed with only one (Young Man ) knowing what to do. The buffet was average with no fresh fruit on offer, ( have we not gone past the tinned opinion yet) A small table stood to one side with some gluten free bread with a toaster. I waited a while to get my tea and coffee order then to find that the cup was chipped. (no attention to detail). On check out, staff did not ask what was my experience like or if i had any feedback||I give the place two stars for the clean room and the one pleasant staff member in the breakfast room, for the price i paid i expect more .

The room was stuffy. Had no air conditioning. The furniture was in bad shape. The room was small with double bed — not even queen bed. The breakfast was at best mediocre. The buffet did not have sufficient variety. Other than a restaurant, the hotel had no amenities. The only real positive was the location.

I've written a few reviews and for a while I stopped, as it seems a bit unfair to write an anonymous review.|Anyway here's my review for a recent family dinner - 3 adults.|3 starters, 3 mains, 3 coffee's & 3 glasses of wine = 150euros.|I'll review mine only as its not fair to talk about others food. |Pil pil prawns to start.. only average at very best.. prawns in oil with some garlic would be an accurate description. Served with Focaccia bread... disappointing.. bread was soggy and flavourless.. |The main event - Sirloin steak.. ordered it medium / medium rare. |I've eaten plenty of sirloin steak and either this was the the last steak and someone else ordered one or it was a minute steak sold as a Sirloin steak. It was quiet thin so as you can expect its impossible to get a thin / minute steak cooked medium. It was well done. |Now while not coming as I ordered and I'm confidant it wasn't a Sirloin it tasted fine and the pepper sauce on the side was nice. |The wine was also nice.|The flat white coffee was very nice.|The staff were lovely.||As I'm Irish etc I don't send back food...! I was overall disappointed with the food but did eat most. Expensive for the quality, but I guess that's just Ireland now. ||Its understandable why more & more people are heading away and the same meal in Spain is 50% cheaper, and before you think the quality isn't as good that's incorrect.. Traditional Spanish restaurants serve a better standard than us at 50% the price. ||Anyway, thats just my review and my honest opinion.

We booked the hotel for our last night in Ireland due to it's proximity to the Shannon Airport.||We checked in and were advised that the elevator was down but thankfully we were only one floor up. ||Once in our room, it was extremely warm with no air circulation. No a/c, no thermostat and the fan was not working. The window also only opened about 3 inches which didn't let air circulate.||We advised the front desk and they came and switched the fan to provide a working one. The elevator seemed to be back up and running that evening.||||There were only 3 open outlets in the room. 1 didn't work and the other 2 were under the desk. There were no outlets near the beds/nightstands which made charging phones difficult overnight.||||We booked the bed & breakfast rate and breakfast was very nice. There were several hot food choices as well and yogurt and such. There also was a menu with things you could order such as pancakes. Tea, coffee & juices were also available.||||After breakfast we noticed the elevator was again out of service.

Yelp
Excellent Property One block from main street Very quiet; excellent staff, larger rooms, onsite pub, great breakfast.... Highly recommend and we shall return

Yelp
We originally were booked for one night as part of a tour group. One of our party ended up getting ill. We left the tour group and extended our stay at Temple Gate for a couple of days to let her recover. The staff at the hotel went above and beyond to care for us during the stay. They even arranged a telehealth visit with a local doctor so that our travel insurance would cover the disruption to our trip. Aside from the terrific staff, the hotel is clean and comfortable, an interesting building, and convenient location. Thank you!

Yelp
We are about to board a tour bus to head to the Dublin airport to board an international flight home and we can't shower because there is NO HOT WATER!!!!!!! WTH?!?? Reception says it was an over sight of the management. No hot water until 6am!!! We leave at 5:30. Beds are hard too. The bar staff were nice. Update.... The elevator wasn't working either.... We were on the 3rd floor. 29 people in our group all having to bring luggage down luggage after not being able to shower. Ugh

Yelp
We stayed at the Temple Gate Hotel on a tour of Scotland and Ireland and I'm sorry that we were only here for 1 night. This is a lovely hotel with a good "Irish feel" to it. The staff was great and showed a lot of Irish hospitality. There are a great restaurant and pub onsite and the facilities are very good and well maintained. Our room was very quiet and the bed was very comfortable. I would definitely stay on this hotel on my next trip to Ireland. We stayed at this hotel as part of a 15-day tour of Ireland and Scotland with CIE Tours. This hotel was selected by CIE and was one of 9 hotels we stayed in during our 2-week tour. We had 31 people in our group and typically occupied 16 rooms at each hotel we visited. Each hotel provided a full buffet breakfast every morning and typically we had dinner at least once at each hotel. We were at this hotel for 1 night. We had 1 dinner and 1 breakfast here. The breakfast buffet was a traditional Irish breakfast (eggs, ham, sausage, baked beans, grilled tomatoes, sautéed mushrooms, haggis and a nice assortment of pastries and cereal).

Yelp
Perfect location with free parking to enjoy your stay in Ennis. Rick Steve's guidebook steered us here, and we enjoyed it so much, we came back on our second visit. What you get is a simple, clean and quiet hotel room. The staff at check-in are super friendly and will go out of their way to help you with directions, suggestions on food, and even weather related road closure information (we came during a flooding season, and were trying to drive to Cliffs of Moher, and the front desk gave us tips on road diversions and alternate route to the coast). The location can't be beat as you are steps from the old downtown Ennis and can walk to several bars, restaurants, pharmacies, ATMs, coffee shops, etc. The hotel also has two onsite restaurants (one pub Preachers, and the other a fancy restaurant - forget the name). Also literally next door is a huge department store/grocery store called Dunnes (think Super Target or Super Wal Mart, but much classier with better clothing options). The free WiFi actually works great too and was a great help for those without international data plans. Next time I'm flying in or out of Shannon, I will definitely consider staying here again.

Yelp
The staff of this hotel are the epitome of Irish hospitality. It's location within the beautiful town of Ennis is second to none and I cannot wait for my next trip back. Thank you very much for making my first vacation in Ireland a memorable one.

Yelp
We stayed at the Temple Gate Hotel for three nights. The lobby is very nice and the rooms are comfortable; everything is pretty modern. The rooms are not very exciting, but are very clean. Also, this hotel has an adorable courtyard and is steps to downtown. Unfortunately, the courtyard also channels noise from late-night revelers into the rooms. Overall, I would stay here again if in Ennis, but be wary of the noise.

Yelp
This is my favourite hotel in Ennis. It's literally in the centre of town and within walking distance to every part of Ennis. The hotel is lovely and the service is brilliant. The staff is always very friendly and attentive. The food is also amazing in the restaurant and pub. They have two different menus as the pub serves classic pub food and has a carvery during lunch, while the restaurant is more upscale with some quite amazing dishes. They also have a great brunch on the weekends. Whenever I have friends or relatives come to town we have them stay here.

Yelp
A perfectly adequate hotel, but nothing special. It was kind of a hot night and the hotel reception area was stifling. Our rooms were better, but still quite warm. The lift was extraordinarily slow, so the stairs were a much better bet to get to the room. The room itself was just ok. Two small, hard beds, a serviceable bathroom with that annoying half shower door (this time with a new twist - it was moveable!), and so forth. The breakfast was not so great, with obviously powdered scrambled eggs that nearly everyone left on their plates. It was also a set menu for the hot breakfast, which created a lot of waste - besides the inedible eggs, not everyone wanted a tomato, or sausage, etc.

Yelp
Great, pretty hotel. Walking distance to the pubs and restaurants and it has a pub inside the hotel. Rooms are great, comfy. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Great location in Ennis, within easy walking distance to a number of fun pubs and restaurants. The room was small but clean and comfortable. Free wifi throughout the hotel and free parking as well. We were surprised how much we enjoyed exploring the small town of Ennis, and particularly enjoyed the abundance of live traditional Irish music in the pubs - Temple Gate hotel is the perfect home base for a great night out!

Yelp
I was with a group of 30 that stayed at the Temple Gate just two weeks ago. As a "fun loving" group, let us say that our presence was known at the staff at Hotel and attached Pub. Every staff member, from cleaning service, reception desk to bartender, were attentive, fun and professional. They seemed excited to join in our excitement. The rooms were clean and neat and sizable for the other side of the pond. The location was great as well. I would stay there again should I find myself in Ennis in the future.

Yelp
Quaint rooms and friendly staff. The room is clean and quiet. It's not fancy but that's not what we expected or wanted anyway. They also have free WiFi, just ask for the password when you check in. There's also free parking on site. Within walking distance to everything Ennis has to offer but you can stay on site and be just fine. The food is AMAZING!!! We had breakfast this morning and it was delicious. Now winding down our day with some drinks and dinner only to find we should've eaten here every meal. Quality food with nice rich flavor and presentation. The service is excellent and friendly. Highly recommend this place!

Yelp
Not what I expected for a 4 star hotel but I guess seeing as the area is small, this makes more sense. Has some old charm mixed with small town hotel. The television needs to be upgraded. It's just a small old school set up. Also the temperature control is only by the radiator or openin the window to a sketchy looking alley way and tattered building. The elevator was tiny... Don't try to squish into it. The library sounds great in the hotel book but it's actually a small room with older furniture and not as appealing as we had envisioned. Good location for access to the shops and other food location. The pub inside the hotel is worth a try. The parking is convenient.

Yelp
Room and furniture need to be repainted - every wall has marks and every piece of furniture is missing paint. Sheets have holes. Wi-fi is glacial. Room is cold and no extra blanket supplied. No bottled water supplied. An almost 50% service fee added to room service. Porter left luggage in front of door - anyone could have taken it. Phone in room covered in crumbs. No washcloths supplied.

Yelp
We came into Ennis late and looked for a hotel for a while and fortunately found this great place. Very good customer service at an affordable price. Front desk staff is exceptional. Nice rooms. Good security. Full breakfast menu as part of the room price. Excellent location to interesting Ennis old town area. Their Pub is OK, but there are more interesting ones with live Irish music right around corner,
