We stayed here just one night for our stop in Takayama - it was absolutely lovely. As a hotel, it was great: the flower room was comfy, the bathroom / laundry / shower we're great, and the room felt private. There was also shared space that we didn't end up using, but it looked very nice.
The staff was exceptionally kind and welcoming. As soon as we checked in, we felt at home - the staff used a translation app to ensure that everything went smoothly and to explain the history of the temple.
We're celebrating our Honeymoon and we even found a generous gift in our room once we arrived - very thoughtful.
We did participate in the morning prayer. We ended up being the only ones there which was wonderful - it was a private prayer session with the very kind monk. The only downside.. my legs fell completely asleep and I made a fool of myself when I stood up, ha.
Overall, I wish we spent more time here and took more advantage of the temple activities, but we are happy with our stay.
