Ten Bompas Hotel - Space Conference Centre - Winehouse Restaurant

Unfortunately our experience at Wine House at Bompas was extremely disappointing. The meal was overpriced with very poor portion sizes. We paid R1 700 for two people and still left feeling hungry which should never be the case at a fine dining venue. The main course included a very small piece of meat that looked more like a tasting portion than a main, yet they placed two large short rib bones on the plate to make it appear as if there was more meat which felt deceptive and unnecessary. The starter was advertised as prawns, yet we received a single prawn that was overcooked hard and clearly not freshly prepared and was hard rubbery and clearly not fresh. The meal was marketed as a six course experience. What we actually received was only three real courses including two palate cleansers which made it five in total. This is misleading and not aligned with what was advertised. For the price charged we expected quality fresh food and portions that resemble a proper meal. Instead we received overpriced underwhelming dishes with a lack of honesty in presentation and portioning. Unfortunately I would not recommend Wine House at Bompas unless they significantly improve their portion sizes menu accuracy and overall value for money.

My Husband and I had the pleasure of dining at Winehouse Restaurant for the past three evenings. On the 2nd Day, I mentioned to Sean my shock at what I was hearing in the Restaurant. Petty, ridiculous "complaints". Little did I know that we were experiencing "Restaurant Month" in Johannesburg. First, let me say Chef Thomas makes the best Chicken I've had in South Africa, since first visiting in 2008. Our portion sizes were huge - by any standard. Chef's Malva Pudding (which I had to have for Breakfast, as I too full to enjoy at Dinner!) ROCKS!!! Top 3 I've ever had! Second, it became entertaining to listen to the "Foodies" whine about Winehouse. To the point, by the 3rd night, we started playing a game of "Spot the Pretentious Foodie". My Husband called it last night. We can confirm Chef went to EVERY SINGLE TABLE, including ours. My Husband won last night, spotting the "faux foodie". For a bit of reference, we have dined on six continents, in cities NYC, London, Seoul, Vienna, Cape Town, Santiago, Tokyo, etc. etc. Enjoy Winehouse - ignore the faux foodie whiners!

Attended a wedding and didn't stay over. The facilities are awesome. The decorations were amazing and the service by staff was top class. The food provided was exceptionally delicious and enjoyable. Wonderful location for an intimate affair with family and friends and had a blast. Definitely check them out

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Ten Bompas. Sean and the team were beyond welcoming, the meals at the restaurant on site were delightful (and they brought out the space heater for me), and the room was spacious, comfortable, and actually felt like home (a rarity). I was there overnight in transit and needed to work the entire day (including virtual meetings) before my flight home the following night. The hotel extended me the courtesy of allowing me to remain in my room for the full day to work comfortably. Sean then provided me a tour of the hotel and the property including its conference spaces and the grounds, showed me another property owned by their group, and connected me with the owners for future travel. As a hotel geek and someone always searching for the rare gem of a true home-away-from-home feel, that was a really nice touch. I can’t wait to try that unique property as well. My girlfriend and I celebrated our anniversary with a 5-course dinner during Restaurant Week at Winehouse at Ten Bompas Hotel and an unforgettable experience it was. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warmth and professionalism. The staff went above and beyond to make the evening feel truly special, striking the perfect balance between attentive and unobtrusive. Every course was a showcase of thoughtful culinary craftsmanship and beautifully plated, perfectly portioned, and bursting with flavor. Each dish built on the last, with creative pairings that kept our palates engaged and impressed throughout the night. The ambiance was elegant yet intimate, with a relaxed charm that made us feel at ease while still indulging in a fine-dining atmosphere. It’s rare to find a restaurant that delivers so consistently across service, presentation, and taste, but Winehouse did just that. A huge thank you to the team for making our anniversary dinner so memorable. We’ll absolutely be back

Ten Bompas has been delivering constant quality service since we have been guests, over 20 years now!! The staff is so genuinely caring and they look after you in the warmest way. The fire in the room was the highlight of our stay!!

Had the most amazing birthday dinner here ! We got off to an uncertain start as none of the special notes had been conveyed to the chef - the staff and chef more than made up for the mishap and made this birthday so incredibly special. The 5 course meal was simply delicious with such attention to detail and favours. Both the veg and non-veg options filled with a journey of flavour discoveries. Wine pairing on point Definitely a special place for a special occasion

We visited the Winehouse restaurant for restaurant week - liver starter was a pleasant surprise, the salmon was delicious and onion soup was on point. For mains we had steak and duck - very nice. Creme brulee dessert was the best, and i also enjoyed the beet sorbet (the ground almond part of the dessert was a little tasteless and soggy). overall well balanced and delicious course. Parking space was not the most comfy.
