Great store with unique fair trade items. Wonderful place to get gifts.

What got my attention today were these felted pot holders or they could be trivets. They look like they will last near forever and the colors are so good. In the same area of the store, I found a two sided tea towel that looks super absorbent and should wear will. Lots of interesting earrings. Handmade hats, scarves, and super soft gloves. Baskets. Pottery. I was fascinated by the quilling art on greeting cards. It was so detailed. Chocolates. Coffee. Lotions. These items come from villages from around the world. The prices are very reasonable on these handmade items.

Google
Great place to find treasure for around the world. This is a “fair trade” store that works with artisans from around the word and sells their goods without huge mark-ups (if any). Great place for unique gifts with meaning from stationary to jewelry and gifts.

Google
I ran in while waiting for an appointment nearby, but I can't wait to go back and spend way more time picking things out! I grabbed a Tote Project bag that has been sold out online forever, and some felted soap that will be perfect in a family vacation gift bag! This place is it

It was wonderful to be in a 10,000 Village shop again. Beautiful and unique items. Our host Sam was great incredibly accommodating ;as we purchased gifts and items for ourselves. Highly recommend this store

Google
This store is amazing! I am a long time customer of Ten Thousand Villages. Everyone I know gets Fair Trade gifts from me. I was amazed at the selection at this store. Every time I go, I leave with more than what I came in for (Recently I needed two items... I left with a full bag. Loved the coffee!). I have always received excellent service. The associates are very knowledgeable. The last time I went was with my son's fiance. She liked that the associate recognized the necklace she was wearing was Tuareg (a cross necklace I gave her, but not from "Villages"). She liked so much of the jewelry that I know a Ten Thousand Villages gift card will be in her Christmas stocking (and we will make a trip to shop together). That day, she stocked up on the wonderful soaps. Be sure to get on the email list for this store... They offer some really great events - and special sales.

Google
The coffee is fabulous. Every single one of the Women's Bean Projects soup kits I've tried (the Five Bean and the Mild Chili come to mind but I think I've tried them all) have been excellent. The chocolate bars are not only tasty but one of my favorite gifts. And don't even get me started on the earrings (lol). The clothing is fun and unique. Love this place!

Google
This cute store has many items of fair trade and volunteers staff the place! Cute jewelry and wooden items line the walls with adorable unique gifts on the shelves in between. Their website is up to date with current inventory and the cashiers seem to have done their research on special items to be able to give the history or let patron know what it would support.

Yelp
Great store with unique fair trade items. Wonderful place to get gifts. Many items are made by less fortunate women.

Yelp
A great place with a great mission! Lots of amazing and funky gift ideas from over 33 countries. I love the lemon and lavender candles specifically...and keep getting one every time I go back. I also recommend checking out the selection of jewelry that is actually repurposed bomb shells.

Konnie T.

Yelp
I always look to shop at Ten Thousand Villages when I visit Cincinnati! There is something there for everyone. Candles, spices, soup mixes, soaps, and beautiful baskets which I purchased one for my laundry basket I had been eyeing for years! I am passionate about fair trade in all areas of my shopping. Give it a try! You won't be disappointed and many will be helped because of a single purchase.

Yelp
If you're looking for some ethically source gifts for Christmas look no further. The selection and price range is great here. I got some delicious organic fair trade coffee and a handmade necklace. Not only did I love the product, I felt great about the purchase as well!

Yelp
I've been to several Ten Thousand Village stores and they all offer the same type of fair trade items (decor, jewelry, edibles). I love these places and my mom used to make a point of stopping by the one near my home to pick up something, anything to show support to artists trying to make a living. She'd just set a young me loose in the store to pick something. Its a sweet memory and its also how I ended up with a green (quartz?) pear...chalk that up to youth. Back to O'Bryonville: The two ladies working were very sweet and helpful. One asked if I needed help right away and seemed excited that I had a groupon. I like their conversational style. The seemed happy to be working there! The place was tidy and cool. I went in looking for a Mother's Day gift and something for me (see the pattern?) but always get lost in the jewelry section. It is my go-to section where I know I'll be able to find something cool, handmade, and unique at a good price. I did pick up Kenyan earrings and Chinese coin bracelets. It is a great place to pick up a gift (I've received items from TTV for graduation and birthday) or a distinctive piece none of your friends will have.

Yelp
Stopped in here recently to buy some Christmas gifts for some hard to shop for folks. This store has a huge variety of homewares, jewelry, accessories and other gift items. As other reviewers have noted, all the purchases go to a good cause. When I visited the staff were very helpful, and they even had fair trade coffee to sample while you shopped!

Yelp
Amazing shop! I stopped in and found some beautiful hand made soaps & a wonderful unique handmade birthday card for my friend. The staff is lovely & they explained how buying their products would help artists from around the world. I found so many items I wanted to purchase that I will have to return to buy them. There where so many amazing items I could not buy them all at once :o) I will shop here for Christmas or any other holiday because of the many one of a kind items they have. Support this wonderful shop, or just stop by to look at how talented the many artisans they deal with are. Many blessing s to you all...

Yelp
Ten Thousand Villages carry the cutest gifts! This is my go-to place whenever I need to find something unique and cute to give as a gift for my friends and family. The jewelry and scarves here are really beautiful. I have bought quite a lot for them and I always get compliments whenever I'm wearing their pieces. The staff here is so warm, genuine and friendly! They really do care about you and they are also well-informed.. I remember the first time I came here, I was warmly greeted and chatted with as soon as I entered the store. Then they offered me coffee and pleasantly offered their help. The selection here is great! Also, there seems to be a back story to every single item that they have which is really a nice touch. I highly recommend Ten Thousand Villages!

Yelp
Like all Ten Thousand Villages stores, this place offers fair trade goods as a not for profit business model that helps people all over the world. I can't always find things I want here, but it's definitely a nice idea and it's definitely worth the walk around.

Yelp
This bazaar of handicrafts from around the globe is full of beautiful items crafted by local artisans in developing countries. From Peruvian sculptures to Pakistani onyx carvings to Vietnamese glassware to Kenyan wood toys, Ten Thousand Villages is a great place to pick up unique items while supporting an admirable cause. I was particularly impressed with the jewelry selections. Earrings, bracelets, rings, and necklaces made in a variety of styles and from an array media were reasonably priced (e.g. earrings were around $20, necklace about $30 on up). The staff members greeted us as soon as we arrived and offered us some freshly brewed coffee (which the store also sells). I definitely be back for some jewelry and for holiday gifts.

Yelp
Well the women love it. Buying nick nacks made by struggling people in forefinger lands ...As a guy I just don't get it. Teach them to make something needed locally and keep the western feel gooders and NGOs out of it. Some seats for the husbands and boyfriends drug in here by their well meaning others would be nice

Yelp
Ten Thousand Villages encourages you to think outside the box. In fact, there isn't much there that IS boxed. Specializing in all kinds of handcrafted goods that mainly come from Asian and African countries, Ten Thousand Villages promotes the idea of Fair Trade; that everyone deserves a fair wage. While the idea has grown in popularity, Fair Trade is still an incredibly important concept that needs to be realized more daily in life. For every product sold, the people who make it are ensured that they will receive a fair wage for their services. Back to the store: the things you find there are usually of the crafty nature, although there are several basic instruments you could get there as well. Baskets, blankets, wraps, etc. It's all very earthy and for the pseudo hippie in your life. Joking aside great present ideas for kids or friends can be found throughout the store.

Yelp
Hello, We visited the Ten Thousand Villages store in Victoria, BC, Canada last June. It was far more than a tourist store, with an incredible variety of items you'll want for yourself, and as gifts to others. Among other things, we purchased the Safari Chess Set as a future Christmas gift. When finally opened this past Christmas, there were four missing pieces. We don't know whether it happened when the set was repacked for travel, or whether we somehow lost them during travel. In any case, after all this time, and after the chess set is no longer shown as available on their web site, they happily found four matching pieces and sent them to us. These folks know how to do it right, and now that I know they have stores everywhere, and on the web, i'll be buying more from them. Thank you for your time, Fred

Yelp
It's wonderful that Cincinnati hosts a Ten Thousand Villages store- all fair trade houseware, jewelry, and other goods. It's a great place to find unique gifts, and even greater to know that your purchases help people who really need it. You can create a gift registry easily online, or at the store. We registered at Ten Thousand Villages for our wedding and got some great stuff (plus got the word out about the store!). There are always volunteers around, though on a quiet day, I felt a little bit like I was being followed around or closely watched... slightly awkward! Anyway, great store to support, good place to go if you need to buy a gift for someone would would appreciate something a little different. Prices range from surprisingly inexpensive to fairly expensive, so there are definitely items at all price ranges.

Debra M.

Yelp
I like the concept of the store and helping other countries. The only thing I have a complaint about is having a sales person follow me everywhere. Like a store stalker. The staff is very nice but I felt like they thought I was going to shoplift or something. I'm over 50 yrs. of age. A bit disconcerting in that sense. Bought a couple of nice things. I would like to go back, but not sure.

Yelp
When you need a unique gift for someone who is hard to buy for, this is a great place. Most, if not everything, is handmade. The items come from all over the world and all the artists get a fair price. I've given their jewelry as gifts and bought some for myself. I love seeing where the items come from. I enjoy checking out what's new. Next time you're in the area, I recommend stopping in.

Yelp
Nothing I can add to these reviews, unique gifts in all sorts of price ranges, but do yourself a favor, feel good about your purchases, and give a gift, or keep it for yourself.
google avatar

Tori M.

Yelp
Love this place! Not can you find unique gifts everything is free trade. This means all the workers are volunteers so that all the money can go back to the women creating these products. Great company and great finds!

Yelp
Ten Thousand Villages is a colorful, global gift shop on Madison Road in O'bryonville. All of the items they stock are fair trade certified and made by artisans around the world. The quality is great and the prices are reasonable. Every time I walk into the store, I want to completely clear out my house and re-decorate with the goodies they carry. My favorite things are Ugandan baskets and the jewelry. It's a wonderful place to find unusual and beautiful gifts and that's why I recently stopped in. I was in desperate need of a bridal shower gift and did not have much time to shop. I was actually on my way to the Art of Entertaining down the street but saw that Ten Thousand Villages was open until 6:00. I checked the time, 5:51. If I focus, I can do it. Focus is somewhat hard in this store because there are so many beautiful things to look at. Luckily, a salesperson stepped forward to help me. The store is a non-profit and staffed by volunteers. I told her I was looking for a shower gift for someone who likes to entertain and she showed me several shelves of serving ware, platters, etc. I found a great blue and white divided serving tray with a basket (among other things). Knowing it was a gift, the salesperson found a box for it, snipped off the price tags, wrapped the separate pieces in tissue and taped the box shut. The only thing she didn't do was gift wrap it. They sell gift wrap, but it's not a service they offer. This is a wonderful shop to spend an hour browsing and learning about the artisans around the world who make the items they offer. You'll find beautiful things to perk up your home or share with friends or family. I also stock up on Fair Trade coffee and tea when I'm there.

Yelp
This was my first time in the store and it was amazing. I was looking specifically for a singing bowl.. they had several to choose from and she taught me how to play it! The items in their store are all sold at fair trade price, it makes you think about where your goods are being made. I had to leave with just the bowl because it was expensive, but already worth it!! I can't wait to go back and find more treasures!

Karen C.

Yelp
A Fair Trade store that carries a wide variety of objects from less developed countries from around the world. We buy our fair traded coffee beans here. There are other Ten Thousand Villages stores in other cities as well.
