This AAA four-diamond property has a little something for everyone, from spa-style soaking tubs to communal firepits and rustic cottages nestled between towering sugar pines and incense cedars. "Located an hour outside of the valley at Yosemite’s south entrance, the 294-room Tenaya Lodge is a great year-round option for those who want to visit the park, or simply enjoy a rustic resort with ample amenities. In addition to three pools (one indoors), several hot tubs (one adults-only), a spacious spa with a steam room and dry saunas, a large fitness facility, a game room, and numerous stores, the pet-friendly Tenaya has five dining options, including Sierra Restaurant, which serves dishes like grilled Colorado lamb chop cassoulet and vegan jackfruit-and-butternut-squash curry. Tenaya also offers all-day tours of the valley in brand-new custom buses, which can be open-air depending on the weather, as well as guided mountain biking, climbing, and fly-fishing excursions. Accommodations in the lodge range from recently updated rooms to suites, some of which feature balconies, patios, fireplaces, and soaking tubs. If you’re traveling as a couple, be sure to request a room on the adults-only floor. Additionally, there are a number of roomy cottages for extra privacy."

First of all, if you aren't able to stay inside Yosemite park, this is the next best location. It is very close to the south entrance of the park.||Pros: very convenient and easy. Great location, good restaurant and deli (we only ate at Jackalope's and the deli; the pizza place was closed every time we tried to go), offered tours right at the hotel. We loved the free s'mores in the evening around the fire pit and also the live music.|We did the all-day 360 tour offered by the hotel, and we had the BEST time. Ethan, our tour guide, was friendly, so knowledgable, funny and was the highlight of our trip.||Cons: we only stayed at the cottages so don't know about the rooms in the hotel or the cabins. For the price we paid, and the website, we expected a higher end resort and a more authentic 'lodge'. If you've been to Great Wolf Lodge, then this is almost the same feel; not really authentic- more like a copy. Our cottage was old and not the cleanest. The air conditioner was really loud, so loud that we had to turn it off to talk or hear the TV. The bathrooms were old; the sink plunger just popped out while we were running the faucet. |They had free bicycles to ride, but they were old. The one my daughter had was broken. We also paid $75 per person for the night stargazing tour where we looked at stars via a telescope. We expected a lot more- definitely not worth the money (maybe $25 per person?).||All in all, Tenaya was convenient but not worth the price they charged, except for the tour.

My husband and I , retired, stayed here for 3 days. Great location for visiting Yosemite. Our room 546, Berch cabin, did not have a balcony or private outdoor seating, even though it said it did. Chairs were in the weeds. Disappointing, who wants to sit inside a small room. We did take our indoor chairs outside to the front of our Berch unit to have a few drinks. |Everything is within Walking distance to resort amenities. If you have a family, great place to stay: pool, climbing wall, archery, fire pit with s’mores, and hiking trails. Jackolope, restaurant was just ok food wise but had amazing bar drinks. Everyone was friendly. The pizza place was great. Loved the food and service. The resort also had a BBQ outdoor service, which we didn’t try. Thought it was too expensive, $50 pp. but give it a try. Would come back.

We recently stayed at Tenaya Lodge for 4 nights with a multi-generational group—grandparents, toddlers under 4, and a few adult friends. While the setting is undeniably beautiful and the proximity to Yosemite is a major draw, we left feeling underwhelmed by the overall value, especially given the premium pricing. Service and amenities fell short of expectations for a resort of this caliber. Dining options were limited, and food service was consistently slow and, at times, surprisingly unfriendly. At breakfast, we weren’t informed that the buffet was free for kids until after we had already placed and paid for separate orders—a small but frustrating oversight that added to the sense that guests were more of a burden than a priority. The Explorer Cabins are a good size for small families but felt pretty basic and dated. Furnishings were modest, and the bathroom showed signs of wear, including visible water damage. A tub would have been helpful for families with young kids. It’s also worth noting that despite being just a few miles from the park entrance, access to Yosemite can be extremely challenging. We were prepared for long lines, but on one morning it took over two hours to get into the park—even leaving by 6:00 a.m. This definitely impacted our experience and is something we’d weigh more heavily next time, possibly opting to stay inside the park for better access. On the positive side, the golf cart shuttle service was convenient and easy to use, and the rock wall was a fun amenity for the older kids. The grounds are lovely, and we appreciated the time together as a group—but ultimately, we’d think carefully before staying again, given the overall value for the price.

Staying at the resort is absolutely worth the money. The multiple pools—complete with a bar—are fantastic, and the daily 5 PM s’mores for kids is a great touch. Room service breakfast is affordable with generous portions (just $18), and the kids’ menu at the main restaurant offers a great deal—burgers with fries for only $10. From the moment you step out of your car, the staff make you feel welcome. However, one suggestion: the front desk staff could be more warm and friendly during check-in, as their cold demeanor slightly dampens the initial excitement. Other than that, the full stay was very pleasant.

Amazing location and clean, comfortable rooms! The kids loved the many pools and hot tubs, as well as the rock climbing and archery. We also enjoyed the s’mores in the evening and trail mix station in the morning. Jackalopes bar & grill was delicious. Even saw a bear! Great stay!

We stayed at the Lodge 2 nights, Yosemite Park 1 night and the Cottages 2 nights to get a variety of experiences. We went June 20-24, 2025 and I could not have picked a better place! Everyone, including dogs have a place at Tenaya Resort at Yosemite. The grounds are beautiful, staff friendly and helpful. Activities for the entire family are offered, most are included. Go to their website for more details. Located just 5 minutes from the South Entrance of Yosemite National Park, another plus! Three different accommodations to choose from: the main lodge (hotel), the Cottages, and the Explorer Cabins. Daytime and evening activities are varied, very few have an additional fee (glass blowing, professional Astronomer stargazing, rental of ebikes, Spa). Shuttle service available on request for guests getting from one place to another, helpful for guests with mobility issues. Dog waste bags are available for those bringing dogs. Dining in the main Hotel as well as pizza at the Cottages location. The Explorer Cabins have their own area, amenities and entrance with trails to join the main Hotel. All guests no matter which accommodation you choose can participate in the activities offered. |I would recommend Tenaya Lodge, a 4 diamond AAA rated resort!

We had a fantastic stay at Tenaya Lodge! The location is perfect — just minutes from the south entrance to Yosemite, making it a great base for exploring the park. The lodge offers a wide range of activities, many of which are included, like bike rentals, which was a nice surprise. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful, and we really appreciated their thoughtful approach to sustainability — they proactively asked how often we’d like towels and sheets changed, striking a great balance between comfort and environmental care. We stayed in one of the cabin rooms, which were cozy and well-equipped, though a bit on the noisy side. A darker curtain option would be welcome, as would a rethink of the bright exterior entrance light that stays on all night. The mattress was comfortable but seemed a bit past its prime. The food was generally good, but we’d love to see more healthy options on the menu — especially lighter, high-fiber dishes without heavy dressings. Overall, an excellent stay. We’d definitely return and recommend Tenaya Lodge to others looking for a relaxing and activity-filled Yosemite getaway!

Rooms are pretty standard. You would have expected more of a forest theme but that's not the case. The location and the services make up for the pretty basic rooms. They have a BBQ Cookout that is absolutely amazing and lots of on-site activities. 5 mins away from the national park gates which is super convenient but it's still about an hr drive to the Yosemite Valley

Yelp
What a great place! We were debating on a cabin or staying in the main lodge. We made the right decision. Our Contemporary suite, was nicely decorated and comfortable for the three of us. The fireplace completed the seating area, making it nice and cozy. We liked how there was a closet area by the front entry. The king bed was super comfy and the outdoor patio was perfect to get some fresh air. The only con was the loud, white noise when the heater ran. It would shut off (since it was on auto) but at times it woke me up when it turned on. We liked how there was a side door right outside of our entrance that spit us out to the front area, to the right of valet/main entrance.l so we were able to walk over to check out the cottages, bike rental area, etc. It's a nice getaway!

Yelp
PROS: + Less than 10 minutes from the entrance of Yosemite. + Free guest parking + Very pet friendly! + We booked a room w/ a patio. We stayed on the first floor and having access to the patio was a game changer. We were easily able to go outside to walk our dog everyday. + Very happy with our food at Jackalopes. I had low expectations, but everything I tried was very good. + Free smores for guests. They also offer Andes mints as an option for your smores. That was a nice touch. + There was free taffy for all guests during the day. CONS: - Pretty expensive to stay here. - There was construction going on, which affected our access outside our patio.

Yelp
Look at my reviews, I always give 5 stars, so it takes a lot for me to leave a negative review.. but, where do I start? The lady who greeted us day we checked in. Was very sweet. After we went to settle in our rooms, I came back to the bar same night @8pm 10/13/2024. The bartender at the restaurant was very overwhelmed, very short, unfriendly and kept ignoring me to get me a simple canned drink. I wanted food to go, his response, we are out of boxes. He handed a lady two boxes right in front of me. After 20 mins of waiting I decided to leave. I was very disappointed, I guess my money is no good there lol. I left to go to the sauna, which is scheduled opened until 9pm. its advertised on their website that Sunday it closes at 9pm. They closed at 8:15pm. So I just left back to my room. I asked for a shuttle because it was dark, nobody was outside. I didn't mind the walk. Next day, I come to the convenience store to buy a shirt, the cashier was talking with another co worker for 10 mins while I'm just standing there. I just left the shirt back on the hanger and left. As I was leaving, I Asked the gentlemen in the front desk where's the sauna? he said they closed early again, even though it shows opened until 8pm. I'm not angry, just annoyed and disappointed, I thought this place would be luxurious like they claim to be. We have another day here, can't wait to leave and not come back. First time here, last time here. It's the little things that add up.

Yelp
Anthony was a great bartender. I will definitely be back for the best espresso martini I have ever had espresso!!!!

Yelp
It's a nice place. We had a tour of Yosemite from that resort. It's located near the Yosemite entrance. They have large lobby, indoor pool, outdoor fire fire pit that you can make s'more, they have free washer and dryer. They had only one restaurant in the lodge, and it was pricy. I heard there was a pizza place nearby, but we have yet to try. Cell reception does not work, i heard only Verizon works in the area, t-mobile would not work. Wi-Fi is offered in the resort, but it is very slow. Overall, it was a nice place if you were taking their tour of Yosemite, which was a great tour. I got to see a nice area, and lunch was included. We only stayed two nights, long enough to go on the tour and rest before we went on another city vacation. Services at the lodge were nice, too. I recommend it if you are planning to see Yosemite. We are glad that we stayed there.

Yelp
Great family weekend getaway. Beautiful resort and scenery. Easy to get to right off the highway. I didn't research what the resort had to offer. Shout out to Rich, he was in charge of the activity desk located in the lobby and he answered all my questions, where Tenaya falls is located and checked to see if archery and rock climbing were still available to book, extra cost. Rich told us about the nightly movie at the indoor pool and where the game room was located. He also encouraged my kids to help themselves to an unlimited amount of complementary smores. I think he mentioned that bikes, not e-bikes, are also free to use for day use. Tip, bike to the waterfall, and don't walk like us! We spent the weekend on lodge and explored Tenaya falls we didn't even go to Yosemite.

Vicki L.

Yelp
Great location near park entrance. Clean property. Nice fitness center and spa. Very friendly staff. Many amenities. Helpful tech support. Phone isn't always answered. Inconsistent information at times.

Yelp
I really don't understand the bad reviews of this hotel. It's a great hotel just under an hour away from Yosemite village. Great location close to many hiking trails, the Mariposa grove, bass lake etc... staff is friendly and helpful. During the Christmas season the hotel looks magical. A huge beautiful tree in the middle of the lobby right by the fireplace makes this place so magical. Imagine a glass of wine or a cup of tea sitting by the fire and enjoying the beautiful. The whole ambiance is great here during the holidays. Lots of fun activities for the whole family including ice skating, snores by the fire... guided tours, activities and more. The restaurant serves delicious meals, the bar has a cozy atmosphere that serves yummy drinks, the gift shops are filled with cutest Christmas merchandise which I took advantage of 50%off after Christmas Day. A very nice place to spend a few days with family or just as couples, check them out.

Yelp
We recently went to Yosemite. The 4 pm check in time is very late and we asked if we could get in early as my husband didn't feel well. They did not let us in a minute before 4pm. We took our dog with us as they are pet friendly. We paid $125 for the pet fee in addition to the room charge. We were ok with that but after we checked in they gave us a piece of paper apologizing for the construction which was going on right outside the pet friendly rooms. The point of a pet friendly room was for the patio and grass for your dog to go potty. Daily from 8 to 5 you could not use the door for access for your dog to go potty. Forget sleeping in also. They either had a large machine close to the door or it was taped over with plastic. Forget a view also. We feel we should have been told this upfront so we could decide if we wanted to stay there or get a different hotel. The front desk people were not warm and friendly. We didn't think they cared at all. The valet and man who brought our luggage were fantastic and super friendly. They should put them on the front desk as they really know how to treat their guests. The restaurant in the hotel is good also. I did appreciate the chocolate and graham crackers as the kids wanted to make s'mores. If you are planning on taking a pet make sure the construction is finished so you can take them outside easily. Also don't come before 4pm for a pet room. You will end up waiting like we did.

Robin S.

Yelp
Quality of food at pizza place and main restaurant was mediocre. Good coffee was not available. Our cottage and our daughter's cabin kitchens had no dishes, utensils or pans. The pool and jacuzzis were over chlorinated and the showers and lockers were nonfunctional. Services were offered in a perfunctory manner Depressing experience for New Years Eve getaway

Angela N.

Yelp
This is a family friendly resort, the ice skating ring is great, the ambiance is nice and cozy, however for the money you pay a need they really need to make some updates. The game room is a disgrace I would hardly consider it an amenity, please send an employee to target and spend $100 and get all new games, they are ripped and old and missing parts. The ping pong table is broken, if you want to appeal to the kids, invest a little money the parents will follow and the kids are happy, so we will return it's a win win. Side note to keep the parents happy the bar needs more help, the servers are overworked and understaff.

Yelp
This stay was wonderful. We stay here very year, but this one in particular was special. We celebrated a birthday and Melinda (in concierge) made it so special and sent us a special treat on the day of our family members birthday. The deluxe suite was very clean and had a Christmas tree inside (very special for the kids). It was also very clean. We also went to Jack a lopes and Kalon was very kind and accommodating delivering our food. The wings are incredible (our favorite). In Timberloft, Rich greeted us and was very nice. Spider was on top of cleaning our table quickly. The pizza was great, we had the combo pizza and the pepperoni! Amenities were awesome, free ice skating this year, game room is updated, nice indoor pool. They provided free hot chocolate and marshmallows at night. They offered free snacks for kids during the day. These were all bonuses! We also saw a 360 tour guide Sandy and she was so sweet and had great information to share! Thank you Tenaya!!

Nick G.

Yelp
Today, my son and I enjoyed a delicious lunch at Jackalope's Bar and Grill at Tenaya Lodge. Their menu offered a wide variety, from pork belly to sea bass, and unsurprisingly, our meal was perfect! Tenaya Lodge is located in the mountains near Yosemite, in a small town called Fish Camp. It's conveniently located just off highway 41, north of Oakhurst by about 10 miles. After lunch, we explored the hotel and found three cool gift shops and a huge indoor swimming pool. Considering it's so close to home, a weekend trip to Tenaya Lodge with the family is definitely on my radar! Unfortunately, the snow kept us from exploring the grounds outside - maybe next time with the proper attire. Follow me on IG @hungry_dude_usa

Yelp
A truly beautiful setting and a wonderful hotel with a helpful and knowledgeable staff. Many on site activities. We loved our 360 tour of Yosemite with Scott. Our Glass Blowing experience with Pat was fun. And free s'mores, need I say more! Our only suggestions would be to improve the food and drink preparation at the Jackalope restaurant (not just us, we saw many things getting sent back), add a walking path up to the front of the lodge so that people don't have to walk up the driveway with cars driving by. The telescopes were a little disappointing, there was only one and we couldn't get it to work. We asked at the front desk and the person setting it up couldn't get it to work either. There could be some more signage indicating where to go for hikes, etc.

Janine G.

Yelp
Upon our arrival we were not greeted very warmly from the front desk staff. I overheard them say to the guests in front of us that they didn't have the room they reserved! When it came to our turn we also didn't get the room I booked! The pictures on thier website are very deceiving. I booked a premium room at the cost of $433 a night (weekday) with the impression I was getting a patio or balcony! But instead we were put in a regular room right above the front entrance and with a lovely view of a satellite dish! They told me that was a premium room. They couldn't explain how exactly it was premium. We had to hear everyone checking in and checking out for our entire stay. We had better service at the Staybridge suites in Disneyland earlier that week! The front desk staff desperately needs retraining on hospitality. The lack of enthusiasm on the first day of one of my dream vacations started out on such a sour note. It's a stunning hotel with beautiful rooms but the lobby carpet desperately needs to be cleaned. When they asked if we wanted room service we said yes but they don't make beds! The grounds are impeccably maintained and the engineer (Crash) was very kind when our tv wasn't working. We did eat at the Jackalope restaurant twice and received excellent service from our servers Saj and Katie. Food was delicious and prices were reasonable.

Julie D.

Yelp
Our first visit to Tenaya and we will definitely be back! You can't beat the proximity to Yosemite, a short 8 minute drive to the park entrance. Also, hotel had plenty of activities for the kids. Such a family friendly place. We particularly enjoyed the flashlight hike with our guide Peter. He took his time answering questions from my enthusiastic 8 year old. She learned so much and couldn't wait to share it all. He was full of knowledge about all things Yosemite from trees to animals to stars. After a day of exploring, we enjoyed lounging at the Bearfoot Bar by the pool. Bree served us so well three days in a row. I was so impressed by her memory - remembering all of the names of our 18 person group within an hour of meeting us. She was personable and friendly to the adults, but also treated our kids well. They adored her fun personality. Her customer service skills are top notch! All of the staff we interacted with from the servers at the restaurant to the check in staff and bellhops were pleasant. We will most definitely be back at this gem.

Yelp
Mixed mixed feelings about this place, but I am giving two stars based on what this place sells you via pictures, emails, versus the reality when you arrive. This is a 2-star motel resort fluffed up with holiday decor and the convenience of being 2 miles from the South entrance to Yosemite National Park. However, that's where the convenience ends. Most things about this resort could be more convenient. Like the parking, the elevators, the food scarcity, and the keycards not working twice! We stayed during a holiday weekend, so the resort was packed with families. Children were running amok, I don't really mind it, it was joyful seeing the kids excited for all the holiday decor and activities (tree lighting, hot chocolate, movies at the pool, ice skating, and Santa). However, many were left unattended, it was wild. The rooms are dated, and the fixtures are old but not like antique old, but more on the time to update old. The beds were horrific, they were so soft and old you literally sunk into them, which made loud crickety noises all night. With all that being said, we left early in the morning for a day at the park and it served its purpose. We had a $90 credit to use here, bringing our costs down but if I had paid full price, I'd be tee'd on this one. I also noticed how far people had to walk from parking to get to one of the cabins to the main portion of the hotel to enjoy the ammenitites. There is one restaurant onsite that I would deem good for kids, other than that, there's a high-priced average pizza spot down the road and the corner store across the street sells BBQ (pork) plates.

Yenny O.

Yelp
Hotel looks amazing very special is lobby. Restaurant was very good great service Let's are welcomed will come back soon The only downfall is the price $$$$$$

Jina K.

Yelp
We stayed in the cottage with our family of four and dog. The room was dated, but the heater worked well and the fireplace and patio was nice. I also loved the parking right in front for unloading and loading of the vehicles. We came the week before Christmas and was hoping to participate in snow activities. Unfortunately, we were only blessed with rain. Thankfully the hotel had so many activities to keep our family entertained. There was a s'mores and hot chocolate bar set up every night? A large fireplace indoors and outdoor to sit by and many fire pits to roast marshmallows on. Two game rooms and an indoor pool with movies on the big screen. We had fun doing the elf hunt and enjoyed the little ice skating rink. The ice rink was pretty small and not groomed well and the skates were very old so I did feel this was overpriced, but it was nice to do something different. The WiFi was great and the location was 20 min from the Yosemite entrance so that was convenient. They are dog friendly, other than the pool allowed everywhere and have Tesla superchargers which was a huge plus for us. Hotel is pricey, but if you were planning on enjoying the amenities I highly recommend.

Jennifer G.

Yelp
I have always had wonderful stays at Tenaya. The front desk help has always been super friendly and accommodating. It is always decorated so beautifully for the holidays. The rooms are super comfortable, spacious and well kept with robes and extra blanket provided. However, the beds are REALLY high, so much that my 5'0 mother required a stool from housekeeping to get on the bed. But they are really comfortable. Room service is really quick and bell service and valet are very professional and accommodating. The food options include a deli which has grab and go sandwiches, salads, chips, drinks (alcoholic and nonalcoholic), snacks, pastries and Starbucks coffee. Jackalopes is the main restaurant on site which has good quality (although overpriced) food. Make sure to ask about the $25 breakfast buffet, as it was not mentioned by any employee until after we already ordered. On the Christmas Eve we were there, there was a $40/person buffet in one of the banquet rooms that seemed like it had a good spread. On Christmas Day, there was a $90/person (!) buffet with prime rib, turkey, seafood and a lot of sides. We chose not to partake but apparently it sells out about 3 weeks in advance according to an employee. The grounds are beautiful and great to explore. The "skating rink" is very small and not too visually appealing and there is one small fire pit that doesn't accommodate too many people. There are activities offered through the hotel, such as nature walks, snowshoeing and a tour in Yosemite that you can book. Overall, I have loved my visits and will continue to return.

Yelp
For a resort that costs upwards of $500 per night one would think that they would have customer service to match. Unfortunately this is not the case! We have always make the decision to stay here for the convenience of charging our car. On this particular trip they have hired a construction company to remodel their outdated hotel that not only does not care about the needs of their customers but neither does management of this hotel! I was told by "front desk manager" Grace (very rudely) that I could use the slow free chargers or drive 20 minutes back to Oakhurst to charge my car since the construction company had blocked the Tesla chargers without any warning to Tesla or their guests. What this hotel management does not understand is that people rely on these chargers especially in an area like Yosemite where charging is limited. You simply cannot block them without notifying Tesla so cars will not be routed to this area. As you can see in my pictures, the slow free chargers that take 6-8 hours to charge your car are blocked by SUV's. Grace refused to do anything about this! The cars parked here are clearly not electric vehicles and of course management does nothing to enforce this! Then to make matters worse, the superchargers were being used for storage of construction vehicles (hired by the hotel) when there are many other places this company could have stored their vehicles! Tesla pays this hotel to offer this service to its customers as well as providing the benefit of bringing business to this hotel. They were not working in this area just simply parked blocking the chargers! Management did not even care about their paying customers to ensure that these vital chargers available to their customers, and that the company they hired respected their customers! There was not one ounce of regard made by this hotel for their guests, And when this was brought to their attention the hotel manager could not even have the decency to come and talk to me. He kept sending his front desk person back out to deal with the situation, which her solution was for me to use their other chargers blocked by SUV's. I spent over an hour at the front desk begging them to let me charge for 15 minutes in the chargers that were not blocked by construction vehicles but Grace refused to advocate for the hotel guests! I had to deal with Grace (who refused to give her name because she knew how nasty and condescending she had been to me). The very nice front desk clerk told me her name when she walked away, and she apologized for the way I was being treated by her manager! It's not shocking that this beautiful place has such bad reviews on yelp because of the customer service they provide! Shame on you Tenaya Lodge! You just lost my business forever! And this should concern you with all of the newer resorts being built in the area! Your jobs and survival in this industry depend on good customer service and you failed miserably!

Yelp
pros 1 friendly housecleaning staff, valet and restaurant people 2 distance to Yosemite South Entrance Cions 1 food at jackalopes nit much better than at a school cafeteria 2 beds are uncomfortable and need better mattresses 3 parking is a joke., no assigned parking per room. I couldn't find parking went to the front desk to complain, her response "park in the overflow parking on the other side of the complex, cant control that some guest come in 2 or 3 cars". So they know parking us a problem but do nothing to address it so a paying guest has to park on the opposite end if the complex because multiple guests from other room drive multiple cars. I ask you, how the hell is that my problem? I paid for a room, came in one car but can't park in front if my building. Assign parking spaces 1 for each room in front of the building and everyone else should go to the overflow area, no manager at Tenaya thinks this should corrected??? 4. Paid fir room over two months ago in November 2024 but arrive on January 2 at 4 on and the room wasn't ready?? How does that happen, at least was comped a breakfast 5 bathtub look dirty and not maintained, grout is dirty; mildew on the tiles, door locks are loose

Yelp
We won't be coming back It was a disappointing experience. I was looking forward to a family vacation but the many issues had us wanting to leave early. The resort is run down. Lodge rooms have little storage or space for clothes, there are popcorn ceilings and the furniture is dated. The air conditioning didn't work, was loud and our room smelled. There isn't regular cleaning of the rooms or main areas. Most public spaces are left dirty or unattended. When we asked for help with planning a tour to Yosemite, we were met with a grumpy person who handed us a brochure to arrange ourselves. The kids game rooms have broken games, unleveled ping pong table with no net, ice skating is difficult because the ice isn't taken care of so it is choppy. But on our second night at 10pm, there was a fire alarm and we woke up our children to leave our room and were told contradictory information of when we could re- enter our room. It made me nervous that communication between staff is not streamlined for safety issues. Tenaya has potential but the lack of care, cleanliness and lack of communication for safety issues has our family not willing to come back.

Yelp
Best service! Best rooms! Best people! Best activities for kids! I had not been so happy and satisfied with any of the hotels or lodges I stayed at in recent times. Definitely going back again.

Yelp
So we spent $1047 for two nights in the cottages and thought based on photo we got the whole cottage but turns out there 3 or so rooms per cottage, and looks n feels nothing special other than it opens directly to outside. Room 520 was so close to the parking space was worried people might accidentally drive into our room. The food at hotel is ok. Other than location being 2 miles away from South entrance nothing really going on and again for the price and looks of the photo I was expecting super nice hotel. It feels outdated n the beds also do sink like many people have pointed out. Best part is seeing all the dogs and is the only reason I gave it 4 stars.

Yelp
Not sure why so many bad reviews but we are greatly enjoying our stay this far! First time going to Yosemite and it didn't disappoint. The lodge is conveniently located 2 miles from the south entrance of Yosemite with all the amenities you need. It is in the Sierra forest and has beautiful grounds. Pros-- close to Yosemite, free water and sparkling water/trail mix in the lobby, free bike rentals, large indoor and outdoor pools and even a game room. Telescopes at night and smores and free use of the sauna/steam room in the spa, dining on site, and privacy in terms of the cottages. Cons-- spendy but you get what you pay for, not a lot of food variety during off season, needing more lighting and signage on site to direct guests to different places, jenky tv remote that doesn't work well, a bit far to walk back and forth from the cottages. I highly recommend booking a tour of the park through the lodge, its $165 and considering you just watch the views and don't deal with driving windy roads and crowded parking, plus it came with lunch and waives the $35 fee paid to enter the park. Beautiful and worth hitting popular spots in the park. I also recommend bringing your own snacks and groceries since the deli is expensive and limited. We got bikes and rode to tenaya falls which was beautiful and off the beaten path once you reach the horse stables. This lodge really is a treat overall.

Yelp
Nice hotel but super deceptive marketing about "PremKim Patio room. The picture in their marketing is carefully taken to imply a nice patio attached to the room with "views of the Sierra forest". My picture from my room. the "patio" is simply a ground floor door to the parking lot. DECEPTIVE MARKETING. :(

Yelp
So disappointed I stayed at Tenaya for a conference, so while I did not pick it, it looked reasonably good online. I will never return. Pros: 1. polite staff Cons: 1. No secure Wi-Fi. This is 2024. Unacceptable. Rude. Disrespectful of personal security. Unprofessional. 2. Restaurants are very limited and the food is boring at best, some options were just bad. Very overpriced, even trying to account for how limited your options are through this whole area. 3. Beds uncomfortable. Like, really bad for a hotel. Like roadside-motel uncomfortable. 4. Pipes in the walls made noise all night. They did let us change rooms, but the first night was miserable. Then on the last night our phone from the front desk rang LOUDLY at 2 am with no explanation. We barely slept the whole trip. 5. They CHARGE for a late check out. I have never before experienced this. 6. A/C units in the rooms are pretty noisy. 7. The grounds are a lot smaller than they look, and unless you want to sit by a pool all day, it feels weirdly restrictive and confined. There's no nice walking trails. I wish I could be more positive but this is literally the worst hotel experience I've had in decades.

Yelp
musta stayed at friends' places in fish camp two dozen times, drove past the this "resort" three or more times that many. but this was winter and i only go to yosemite for one kind or other mountaineering, and not my time for this until most all the water on the rocks is in liquid state. i should add at the outset that this review is a kinda sad story, really, or at least as far as it goes though it since turned around a couple of times, and more before it's done. here's what happened... the trip was to avoid rain that was swamping the n coast, and a new friend and i had already spent a few days around the house so time to head off to the central coast, then over to the valley and that for three reasons: see tax accountant, buy olive oil and finish up the week at an altitude entirely different from the beach. all went well, nice phoenician lunch then onto hwy 41, which is where it happened... rearended the van in front of me. i really liked the car i was in, a lot liked it. too bad, totaled due to a bit of unwise acceleration on my part. but all went well enough, chp guys being reasonable after an unnecessarily close, at least for this time of day, pupil perusal. but the plans didn't change, just needed to rent a car at the fresburg international air terminal and keep going as planned. now on to the formal review, and part 2 of the sad tale. the tenaya is really quite fine, especially when you compare it to sleeping on the ground, in a tent-cabin, or trying to get a reservation at the ahwahnee. i don't think people who take petty shots at the small matters here realize what a production is anything done this far from town, at this altitude, for so many people who are chomping at the bit for their likely one and only drive the next day into the glorious valley of rocky glints and shadows. we did have an issue with the pillows: they're beyond overstuffed, so much so they're actually useless, no "give" whatsoever. some complain about the food, but the answer to that one is simple: don't eat here. i think it's not fair to name the better alternative nearby, slightly downhill from the turnoff to the tenaya, so yelp it. but neither pillows nor food were our problem as i can't really explain how such deterioration comes about, and anyway a few days later things u-turned decidedly to the good again. these things often do, until they don't. for those not yet past infancy this famous philosopher explains perfectly how it goes: youtube.com/watch?v=SjzEnNFfsPw

Yelp
Enjoyed our stay at Tenaya very much. All staff we encountered during our visit were pleasant and welcoming. The grounds are beautiful and they offer a wide range of on site activities. The location to the south gate entrance of Yosemite NP is a huge plus. The Mariposa Grove trailhead is just a couples minutes past the gate, make sure you take the time to see the giant sequoias!

Yelp
This is my fifth stay and it'll be my last, they've spent time and money repairing the hotel which is great but 1, asking for a tip at the Embers restaurant when you charge 22% service charge is unacceptable 2, asking for a tip for ringing up (not preparing) at the deli is unacceptable 3, saying you have a 90 minute wait at jackalopes on a Sunday night when there are unoccupied tables is unacceptable. You're not full you just haven't scheduled enough servers. 4, having an engaged tone constantly for 45 mins for room service is a joke.

Yelp
This hotel is amazing! The room was comfortable and spacious. The restaurant had wonderful food. The grounds are beautiful. There is so much to see and right there on the grounds. I got a fabulous massage at the spa. My husband went horseback riding nearby. There are many things to do nearby. The concierge, Karla, is wonderful and helpful. Everyone from the valets to the housekeepers to front desk staff, servers & concierges were so friendly and helpful. A Front Desk person even brought a microwave up for us so we could warm up a heat pack. It was the best experience ever! Thank you!

Yelp
2023 was the worst Thanksgiving dinner ever at Tenaya. They used to be good. Now, deserts are on paper plates. They charge for iced tea and refills. Save your $$$$. Go elsewhere. Used to be so good.

Janette I.

Yelp
What a great experience! Very clean and newly renovated hotel. It has Tesla supercharging station right in the hotel. It was very convenient for me. Staff were pretty nice and helpful. It was our first time going to Yosemite and it was recommended to go to Yosemite lodge due to their location; however, Tenaya is so much better. I didn't mind the extra drive to the park.

Jake P.

Yelp
I enjoyed our stay here. Very close to Yosemite, good service, nice facility. The food was a hit or miss, but not bad for a more remote area. The e bike was worth it, the night hike, and trails. The pool was great too. It's for sure going for a luxury feeling but isn't quite there compared to other resorts.

Yelp
I don't know who is leaving all the bad reviews but we had an exceptional time here. The room was perfect. The pool was perfect. The aperol spritz by the pool was perfect. The cute dogs around the property were perfect. And the service was beyond. Kenny (the assistant manager) was a gem. He took care of everything and made us feel at home. Made lovely recommendations and conversation. What a teddy bear. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Pros: Close to Yosemite Pools inside and out with an adult pool area Restaurant on site. Attentive staff Cons: Parking is limited Pricy Arrived via own car. Flew into Fresno. Check in took a while. There seems to alway be a line. Anytime you went to the front, there was always a line and it took forever. The hotel grounds are nice. They do need more lighting and seating. They have a few benches scattered on the grounds, but after the sun sets, it's super dark The room: We were give room 482. It was big enough for three girls and their suitcases. The beds were comfortable. The AC worked well. The window does open and at night it gets cool enough to sleep with the AC off and the window open. We especially liked that the toilet/shower had a separate door separating it from the vanity sink area. This made it easy for us to get ready while the other on was showering. The toiletries smelled great. The keurig in the room was heaven sent. They do provide tea and coffee. We also had a small refrigerator. It didn't cook that well, but it did it's job. The pools: They have inside and outside pools. It was warm enough for the outside pool. We enjoyed the adults only pool. It was small, but well worth it. They also have hot tubs. The outside pool has a bar. Towels are readily available. They also have a locker/changing/showering room. The restaurant: Pricy, but the food was good. The surrounding areas are pretty sparse, so this may be your best food option. There's also a pizza place at the entrance of the lodge. You can also buy cold food items from the gift shop. They really have almost everything you need. When you arrive, they provide you with a s'mores kit and reusable water bottles. They have filtered water throughout the resort. Even the sink. The water bottles are a nice gesture, but all three leaked. They didn't have a good seal. They all went in the trash. You can do your s'mores in the pit behind the main building. Parking can be so difficult after a certain time. They really need more parking. Look at your bill before you leave. They charged me $75 more and when I called, the lady couldn't figure it out. She sent it to someone else and I never heard back. Laundry is free and they even have detergent available. The laundry room had about three working washers, so you do have to wait in line sometimes. Overall, I liked the lodge, but the rooms show their age and for the price the charge, they should really update some things. This lodge is about 8-1 min from Yosemite park.

Yelp
EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE! As we pulled into the entrance, we were greeted by a friendly employee who allowed us to park at the front so we can check in safely. During our check-in process, the front desk gave us all the information for the resort and maps of how to get around. They gave us all reusable bottles to use during our stay. They have water stations and a soda stream machine for us to use for free. We can refill our bottles as much as we want during the stay. After we were given our room key, we parked our car near our room entrance so we can take our luggage up with ease. There are bus boys nearby if you need help. After we got into our room, which was a nice lodge style room. Clean bathrooms and clean bedrooms. We stayed at the lodge rooms but there are cottages available. The rooms were spacious and roomy. There was a game room in the main lobby with lots of board games and a ping pong table for anyone to use. They had free popcorn for everyone and free lemonade for us to enjoy with the movie playing in the game room. They have a fire pit in the back so they offer s'mores stuff in the lobby for us to use and make s'mores. UNLIMITED access to Hershey bars for s'mores!! Such a fun vibe with the firepit in the back! We all really enjoyed it. The weekend we were there, the Timberloft Pizzeria was closed but the deli offered pizza so we had that for dinner. IT WAS DELICIOUS!! They have cheese and pepperoni. We ate in the lobby with the fireplace there. It was nice a comfy environment. After dinner, we headed to the indoor pool area and the arcade. They also have a hot tub! They are open until 10pm which gave us plenty of time to enjoy the facilities. The main lobby has a board where it has everything you can do in the area depending on how much time you have at the resort. It's pretty useful!! The next day we went on a hike to Lewis Creek Trail which was about a 15 minute drive down. The hike itself was 2 miles there and back and we did it with our 7 year old and 5 year old so very doable! There is an ice skating rink as well. The prices are very reasonable!! We were the only ones there so the staff member let my kids ice skate for free and charged only the adults which was super nice of them!! And ice skating rink has in and out privileges as well so it's awesome!! The deli has ice cream and we went after hours so they opened it up just for us at around 9pm and we didn't have our credit card on us but the staff member let the kids have it as a complimentary treat from them. SUPER SUPER NICE!!! Tenaya Lodge is BIGGGGG on customer service! I had an amazing experience in which they put their customers first. 100% will be coming back soon and maybe with a bigger group since it's very accommodating to larger groups as well. LOVED LOVED LOVED it. We were sad we were leaving because we had such an amazing time!!! Thank you Tenaya :)))

Yelp
Tenaya Tenaya Tenaya... hmm... I have mixed feelings about Tenaya Lodge. Tenaya Lodge is a resort tucked away in the mountains and is only about 2 miles away from Yosemite National Park. It offers different types of rooms, indoor and outdoor pools, a restaurant, complimentary bikes, hiking trails, a spa, etc.. It all sounds pretty amazing, right? Some parts were and other features not so much. I think my big issue with Tenaya was the rooms. My family and I stayed in a classic mountain comfort lodge room. The room and the building the rooms were in were very outdated and run down. It felt as if I was staying at a $60 Motel. But no, it was $400 plus per night room. The air conditioning was crap, the bed was hard as a rock, absolutely zero comfort, there was no microwave, handles to cabinets were broken, paint was peeling off, etc..The elevators were sketchy! Every time we used it, it would shake, so scary! They absolutely need to revamp the rooms and make them worth $400+ a night. I have to say, the outdoor pool was pretty amazing! I was there most of the time. It's very spacious with lots of chairs and a bar! The pool area has several little pools, a big pool, and several jacuzzis. They had cabanas that could be reserved as well. They have this BBQ dinner night which included live music, a bbq buffet, games, and s'mores. We went ahead and made a reservation and paid the $55 per person. When we arrived at the dinner, we were disappointed. Don't get me wrong; the setup was adorable and nicely done, the food, however, was not so good. Not worth the $55 by no means. The on-site Deli/ Cafe that is there was really great! They serve Starbucks! Hubby and I were there every morning to grab our iced vanilla lattes. They were really delicious, and I was in heaven! I love the fact they offer complimentary bikes to ride. My issue is that one, they need new bikes, and two, they need to have signs or arrows to point you to the bike trail. We were given a map, but it was so confusing, and it wasn't helpful at all. If there were just a few signs, it would've made the experience much more enjoyable than stressful trying to figure out where to go. The restaurant, so they have two restaurants, but the pizza loft was closed. Ugh! So we were kind of stuck with the one, which wasn't terrible. But pricey. Overall, we made the most of it and had a nice time. We just tried to stay out of our rooms for as long as possible because they were so depressing. The staff was very friendly and helpful. When we checked in, we received complimentary wine and s'mores. If I come back, I would book a different room in a separate building/ area. I honestly felt that I was ripped off. I was given a run-down motel room but paid and expected a four-diamond comfort lodging experience, just like how they advertise these rooms.

Yelp
Look at my profile, I don't often give bad reviews. But, feels light weight a scam. Said the cottage was three bedrooms and you only get one. Fridge didn't work and all my food went bad. When I called to complain, they said u Rnt allowed to cook food, ugh I wasn't cooking in this shitty little hotel room. Fireplace didn't work. Beds wer uncomfortable. The restaurants wer bad. If this place wasn't close to 600$ a night, and close to 200-300, it wouldn't be so bad. But you're paying top dollar for bargain store prices. Only good things wer the staff, location, and the free s'mores every night. Wouldn't suggest this at all.

Yelp
Stayed here for one night and the location is excellent. If you're not able to get a hotel in Yosemite Village, the Tenaya is a great option. They have a nice walking trail and bikes to rent if that's your thing. There are also a few restaurants on site. The room was comfortable and the outdoor pool and jacuzzi were very nice. There's also an on site pool bar. They also have an indoor pool for the wintertime. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Yelp
Overall a fantastic experience and stay!! 100% would come back again. And would come back with friends, as a couple, etc We stayed 3 nights in Explorer Cabin #32 and loved every moment of it. It had enough space for 3 adults and a toddler. The two bedroom setup gave us parents enough space and privacy from a grandparent to spend precious time with their grandson. Minutes away (both walking and driving) from the main lodge made it feel just secluded enough, which we loved. The property itself had lots to keep us busy: swimming pools, hot tubs, stargazing, nature hikes, firepits, entertainment center, spa, shopping, restaurants, etc. Even though there was a prom, a wedding, and a conference being held the same time we were there, it didn't feel overcrowded. If you get a chance to get to the spa, make sure you book Steven for a massage!!!

Abha S.

Yelp
It's a big resort and very family and kid friendly. The check in is not till 3 pm but often takes longer than that. The checkin process is extremely slow so prepare for 1-2 hour delays. The rooms are mostly updated and not all of them are connected to the main lobby. So when the restaurant closes at 10 pm you have to walk outside in the cold and dark (Not well lit). Plus parking is limited on the back side. I would request having room which is connected to the lobby. So you have direct access to the lobby, restaurant, spa etc. There is a general store/cafe/deli. But veg vegan options are very limited. If you're coming to use the spa. You should know that the indoor steam room is out of service. So you only have access to the spa. Hotel guests can use that but you have to go to the spa to sign a waver before you can use it. There is a resort fee, but I don't know what you get with that. The Activities are mainly kid friendly. Rock climbing wall (kiddo sized). Lots of fire pits for s'mores (you get one kit On check in for the entire family). You also get small water bottles that you can fill up at the water fountains (one near the bathroom in the lobby). There are no waters in your rooms so it's best to prepare in advance.

Yelp
This review is solely based in the first day, I an optimistic perception will improve as our stay continues. After 16 hours of travel through multiple time zones, we checked in around 4pm local time. We requested a pack and play at check-in (we attempted to request/reserve at booking, but they don't do that for some reason). Went to dinner after check in assuming it (pack and play) would be at our cabin when we got back. 3.5 hours later still nothing, our 1 year is getting to the point of no return. We call and request again and let them know this is the 2nd time and we need to put our 1 year old to bed. 25 minutes pass, we call again, another 20 minutes go by, we drive from cabins to main hotel front desk and ask in person, requesting they let us take it to our cabin from the front desk ourselves. nope that is against protocol, "we will have house keeping rush it". I let them know we have a 1 year old from eastern time zone losing their shit with know safe place to sleep. it is 8:25 local time past 11 in the EST where we are from. My wife has resulted to sleeping with our 1 yr old in the adult bed which is 3 some feet off of the hard floor. I am relegated to the couch. The pack and play arrives at 9:07pm PST. More than a 3 grand is being spent for accommodations and it takes 5 hours, 3 phone calls and 2 in-person requests one at check in and one when the calls weren't working, just to get a safe place to sleep for an infant? We checked in around 4 and our infant doesn't have a safe place to sleep (which can't be reserved ahead of time, mind you) until after 9pm local time. If you are flying in and bringing an infant here, do yourself a favor, buy yourself a pack and play in Fresno before you come in. Yeah... it will cost you double the rental fee than this place charges, but at least you will have it when you need it. You can always donate it somewhere afterward.

Yelp
If you are open to stay at a very crowded hotel, with really bad beds (the ones that have had at least 5,000 people before you,) and you dont mind toilet and tissue paper from a One Dollar store, this is the place to go because of its proximity to the south entrance to Yosemite. Also, do not expect housekeeping at all. I called at 9:00 AM, noon 3PM and 7PM and nobody came to do my room. I complained to the manager and I got the typical "I´m so sorry" with a kitty face... If you call the reception, you will be greated by a message saying: "Welcome to Tenaya, an upscale resort...." (but please don´t expect the Four Seasons even if they use the word "Upscale"... don´t be foolled. On the good side, food was really good and service at the restaurant was always superb. Location is amazing too. I would give this hotel 3 stars at the most.( I´m being kind)

Sidney K.

Yelp
We booked this place after seeing ads on Instagram. What a disappointment. The grounds are small and cramped. The only restaurant on site is a disappointment. On Sunday night at 8 pm the only restaurant on site, Jackalope, has empty tables but has a 90 minute wait time. Room service is no longer taking any orders because they're "full" and no one offers an alternative. What are we supposed to do with hungry kids?

Iris G.

Yelp
Our recent stay at the resort was marred by exceptionally poor service, provided solely by MIMI the front desk worker. Particularly towards the elderly guests. She staff displayed a shocking level of rudeness, which is completely unacceptable in a hospitality setting. From dismissive attitudes to neglectful behavior, it was disheartening to witness. The couple in front of us, traveled long and far. Upon asking for early check in she rudely shut them down! I hope the management addresses these issues promptly to ensure a more welcoming environment for all guests. I won't even disclose her behavior towards us. Let's just say I have never had a worst check-in experience. Ever! Only giving two stars for the amazing service for bell/valet workers and Trisha, the concierge that politely helped us! Thank you. Guests from around the world are paying $$$$ to stay here and deserve 5 star treatment. If they can't check in early at least offer to hold bags so they can enjoy the park for the day. Yosemite is the only reason we are all staying here.

Yelp
This modern resort is located just a few miles from the south entrance to Yosemite. The building is in decent shape, the food is good, the service is mostly good, and everything is kid friendly. We came for Christmas, and they did a great job. We stayed several nights, so here are some of things we experienced: Things that I liked: // Jackalope The main restaurant was outstanding american food, with large portions, a good wine selection, and nice mix of bar and grill fare. Over the course of a few days, we sampled the burgers, nachos, and poke. My favorite was Olive Tapenade on the appetizer menu, with a nicely toasted baguette, olive oil and balsamic. try it out! The breakfast was good too. The veggie omlet was tasty, but don't miss the El Capitan omlet, which is basically a kitchen sink extravaganza of eggs and meat. Note, the whole place seems understaffed, especially during the holidays. So if you don't mind the long waits, and slow service, its a pretty good experience. // The Deli They have some nice grab and go options. The coffee is starbucks, including creme brulee lattes, though you might have to wait longer for these. The pastries are tasty, individually wrapped in solid plastic togo boxes. It was our quick fuel up, especially breakfast sandwiches, before heading out for the day. // Christmas spirit The lobby had a big Christmas tree. Hot chocolate every evening. Roaring fireplaces inside and outside. Live Christmas music too. // Activities The snow shoeing was fun. It was my first time and I really enjoyed the trail behind the property. When we took a rest break, it was so quiet we could hear the dripping snow and creaking branches. We also enjoyed the sledding in back. It was a nice little hill, where parents could watch and sit by the fire pit. They had ice skating too. // The gym The gym and spa were downstairs, where they usually are. The gym equipment looked new, but just a step up from your holiday inn gym. There was no water, I suppose due to covid, but the spa desk outside had bottled water. // The staff Everyone was nice. The concierge was friendly and gave us some insider tips for Yosemite. Restaurant staff was all nice. Front desk was cool too. // Snow support FYI, the gift shop stocks chains! If you get snowed in, bring your tire size and they seem to inventory the whole range. The front desk also checks out snow shovels. They hold your id. The things that were more average here: // Pool The indoor pool is pretty large, full of kids from toddler to teens. They have nightly movies at 6pm. The water is warm, but everything looked kind of dingy there. The game room is there too, with some beat up old air hockey and foosball tables. // Dogs Lots of dogs playing in the snow. We would have brought ours, but they charge $20/hour for dog sitting. // Building The layout was kind of lame. Had to go up and down two stairways to get to the restaurant from our room. Each room was otherwise fine. Very thin linens, decent bathrooms, and lavender shampoo from the spa.

Yelp
Under staffed?? 90 - minute wait for our room. We were told we'd be sent a text when the room was ready. A trip to the front desk confirmed someone dropped the ball... Rooms were clean and comfy. Next morning we picked up the phones to request a late check out. Phones in the room did not work. Luckily we had cell reception and asked for a late check out, but were denied. The 4 story East Wing is serviced by one, yup, just one elevator! Not sure how that is safe!? If you're on the fourth floor, you'll be waiting for the elevator each trip out. The nearly empty Jackalopes restaurant still had us waiting 10 for a table. You will not be allowed to use a luggage trolley, those are only handle by the valets. We were on a 10-day trip and had lots of luggage, coolers and bags. We'll extend our stay at the Rush Creek lodge next time. I'd skip this one...
