It's got that family restaurant look and vibe, ala doutor, or seizeria, or komeda coffee. I went alone, and got the baby size chocolate, which was still way too much for one person, though I saw many people eating the regular on their own so maybe I'm wrong. Great flavor honestly, and sweet throughout, which feels uncommon for kaki gori / bing su / shaved ice. Still kind of carnival food though haha.

Great service here, although the place looks a little run down. It must be because it's very popular! They have two floors and there's an elevator that can be used. The 'bear' ice slush is refreshing, and I hear it's very popular during the summer. However, although they have many choices, the depth of flavor difference between each shaved ice variation may be indistinguishable except the for different toppings. Quite affordable too. Good place to take kids.

The shop is interesting and decorative. There are multiple bear decorations around the restaurant. The kids will love it! They also seemed to have baby chair. If you go to the second floor, you can to see the passerby from the window while enjoying your dessert. The restaurant is an old fashioned classy setting. Good for families or friends. You can get Shirokuma, parfait and other western food here. The portion for the baby shirokuma was just nice for me. The price range is just right.

Good place to try the original shiro kuma (polar bear) shaved ice. The sizes are pretty big so beware. The photos are baby size portions. Seems that the condensed milk is mixed into the ice before shaving so the taste goes right the way through. That is better than other shops where they just used shaved ice and put the condensed milk on top so after a few bites you are just eating flavourless ice. The katsu sando was pretty good, as you can see in the picture it is a proper piece of meat with fat and flavour in it. The toasted bread was a good match. Decent food, but nothing special. Something to check off the list and say we have been there I guess.

The food and shaved-ice were delicious, but the customer service left much to be desired!!! This popular Kagoshima dessert shop had a long queue of eager customers. When I arrived around 2 PM, a first-floor staff member informed me that I could go to the second floor if I wanted to order the rice set with shaved ice, while those not ordering the rice set had to wait in the long first-floor queue. I agreed to go to the second floor, where I waited only a few lines. Once seated, I promptly chose my menu items and pressed the order button. However, despite several presses and attempts to get the attention of the staff, no one came to take my order. Many staff members were serving nearby tables, and although they seemed to notice my calls, they ignored them. I pressed the button a total of five times, and still, no one responded. Oddly, the staff treated student groups at other tables with great courtesy, even though those students didn't need to order the rice set. This left me wondering why I was treated differently. I waited for 15 minutes just to place an order that I could have easily done by approaching a staff member myself. While the food tasted good, the staff's service was extremely disappointing. I couldn't help but question if it was worth the visit, especially considering the inconsistent guidance from the first-floor staff regarding going directly to the second floor for rice orders. And by the way, I also got the wrong order initially, but thankfully, they fixed it pretty quickly.

Even though it is almost winter, the line was long when we got there! But they were used to it, and we could get inside in about 15 minutes. We ordered a White bear with a Hojicha latte. The Shinko Dango we ordered was a little burnt, but all were delicious.

The baby size is very big but you can’t share it. So you have to order your own one despite not finishing it. I wish they made smaller versions or make it at least cheaper. It is very sweet and barely any fruits compared to the picture. It’s alright but I don’t recommend. My table was very sticky and smelly

The kakigori is completely not worth it. Just a lot of ice and syrup. I won’t pay >1000yen for it. But at least they allow 2 people to share one big bowl. Not as good as the ice desserts in Taiwan or Korea. Even the ice kachang in Singapore is more worth it because it’s so much cheaper.

I came to visit this place from USA two weeks ago just to sample this local favorite shaved ice and I was not disappointed. This dish is just as delicious as 52 years ago when I had it last. My sons, whom I came back with agree it is delightful. I can't wait to go back.
