Where to See the Best Wisteria Blooms in Japan This Spring

"For prime wisteria viewing without an admission fee, head to a public green space like Tennogawa Park in Tsushima, Aichi Prefecture. From the end of April to early May, the park hosts the Owari Tsushima Wisteria Festival, celebrating the short blooming period with food stalls and performances." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Tennogawa Park is located near the Tsushima Station, 12 minutes walk only. I went here near sunset and the view was amazing. There is a wide lake in the middle of the park and there are a lot of open space that you can use to leisure. The main course from April - Early May is Wisteria Festival, and also illumination of it. The wisteria is really beautiful in the night, truly magical view. I recommend you to come to this place in mid April - early.

I went there in 1st May 2025 with less expectations but it was truly amazing. Number of wisteria trees were huge but variations was not so up to the mark. There were less lighting but may be it offers big bash in festivals. There are big field, pond and park as well as Starbucks for coffee lovers. Reservation: No Ticket: No Parking: Free (Festival day 500yen--may3rd & 4th they have festival)

Came here for the wisteria park on 22 April. It actually quite far from Tsushima station, 20 minutes walk in which i saw majority of the tourists came using their cars. Its quite nice but because the wisteria is all lined up in ..lines, it doesn't really give a wow factor, unlike Ashikaga park or Kameido park which I have been to. Can give this a skip as its quite out of the way.

A beautiful park with a lake. Would love to visit when the wisteria is in bloom

Huge park with large fish pond. We had great time enjoying the kodomo matsuri (kids festival). Many Japanese families came to spend time by picnic-ing and playing around with their family members. There was a section full of Wisteria, but at the time we came (early May), the flowers blooming time were finished. It is still beautiful, but I bet when it is full bloom (mid-end April) it must be amazingly glorious 🥰

Although it was a weekday, there were not a few people. It seemed that a lot of petals fell because it rained yesterday. Still, it was really beautiful. It seems that many turtle families live in this park. The children were all excited to see them gathered here and there. Food trucks were at a certain distance in the vacant lot in the back. Because it was a weekday, there were few customers, so the menu was limited.

Nice place. Well staffed in the wysteria bloom period. Beautifully maintained wysteria! Interesting side attractions with something to suit everyone. We visited in late April when the festival was in full swing and it was something special. Especially enjoyed the wonderfully warm reception from the ladies running the tea n cake service under the hanging wysteria. Well done ladies!
