Tenuta Cammarana (Ragusa Ibla, Sicily) 6 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Tenuta Cammarana, a five-room farmhouse in southeastern Sicily, is so uncompromisingly of its place that, if the family running it weren’t such skilled hosts, the effect would almost be spoiled by the presence of foreign guests. Much of the home looks like a geological outgrowth of the land itself, with centuries-old walls comprised of large white stones (from the farm’s own fields, surely) and pressed earth, floors made of limestone from the surrounding hills. The residence was built in 1778 by the same workers who constructed the Sortino Trono Palace, a World Heritage site in nearby Ragusa Ibla, and aside from a few key additions, like state-of-the-art latex mattresses and goose-down pillows, not much can possibly have changed since then." - Tablet Hotels

A truly exceptional stay at Tenuta Cammarana. It is an idyllic, beautiful and peaceful spot to relax in the middle of the Sicilian countryside. There is a warm, personal welcome with useful local tips. Tasty breakfast and the dinner was delicious - all full of local produce and traditional cuisine with local wines to choose from. The room was clean, spacious and tastefully decorated, with complementary fruit on arrival. |There is a good sized pool and plenty of beds to relax. Would recommend.

Have a look at the view from the "Suite Sette", a room not displayed on the website as sold "outside the tourist circuit" (verbatim). Something caught my attention. What is this wavy, chipped, old, strange material the roofs are covered of? I don't mean the traditional tiles. Perhaps the owners can clarify? Reply to owner: the photographed portion of roof and other structure's roof is on the perimeter property as it was accessible to us. Picture attached of the photographed portions highlighted in yellow, from your published aerial view photograph. Re: the room 7 "outside the tourist circuits" I wonder why it's not being published on the website as the others. Are you a B&B?

Tenuta Cammarana is the perfect place where to leave the stress of everyday life behind. |It has elegance, warmth, simplicity and joy.|The old farm is situated in a beautiful Sicilian real country life. It is well taken care of, family oriented and pleasant.|The food, mostly breakfast, is delicious. It is served in a welcoming elegant atmosphere.|The private areas are very clean. Linen bed sheets and refined towels contribute to the uniqueness of the experience.|A swim in the large swimming-pool situated among the carob trees is what we need to keep our body in shape and our mind in positive spirits.|The personnel is kind and well trained.|A special visit to repeat.

Our fourth visit to the lovely Tenuta Cammarana owned by Silvia and Giuseppe and our first since the pandemic.||||As always it is a complete pleasure to visit. The B&B is in a peaceful location on a small country road to the south of Ragusa about midway between Ragusa Ibla and Marina di Ragusa. ||||The house is delightful and beautifully furnished. Our bedroom was large with a comfortable bed with high quality linens, a good shower and plenty of hot water and towels. Housekeeping is done to a very high standard and sheets and towels are changed every few days. Good to see high quality shower products are provided in top up bottles rather than small disposable ones.||||Breakfast is a feast with several savoury and sweet options prepared daily along with ham, cheeses and fresh fruit and coffee of your choice. If you are lucky you will be able to have fresh ricotta from the local farm. On sunny days it is taken outside.|||| Dinner is offered occasionally and is excellent with four courses, an aperitif and wine.||||The staff are really helpful and look after you during your stay. ||||Highly recommended

The inn itself is of a beautiful design however the rooms range from spectacular to not spectacular. We were part of a group and all paid the same price. Our initial room had a terrible oil smell that made us nauseous so we requested a different room. We switched with the tour guide and were placed in a much smaller room that was nice. The downside was no WiFi, internet or hot water. The pool was not open even though we were told it would be. The breakfast was lovely each morning and the staff were very helpful.

It has taken some time to review this place as we couldn't figure out how to express our disappointment. We want to be fair and accurately portray our experience.||So much about this place is good, but the vibe is a bit off-putting. ||So many contrasts:||The setting is lovely and the building is quite old with lots of character. Our room was large but dark with a small and dank bathroom and possibly the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on. No hot water the first day--they hadn't turned it on. Beautiful and interesting library connected to the room--albeit again dark and a bit dusty.||Pool is nice but the pool area is quite sad--no landscaping (and not much furniture) and as a result, dirty/muddy. View from the pool is wonderful however. The surcharge for pool towels is obnoxious (please just put it in the room rate).||||The "hotel pricing" for laundry is obnoxious.||||Dinner was lovely but very expensive for what it was--simple cooking done well but still very simple. Fresh fruit only for dessert at a Euro 60/person price point--maybe the most expensive meal we had in Sicily. Breakfast was mediocre compared to what we experienced elsewhere in Sicily and Italy.||We've traveled extensively and found this place to be a bit short on warmth and hospitality--especially relative to our experience broadly in Sicily. We got the impression that the owners are not particularly interested in guests. The staff however, was terrific and quite friendly.||Regrettably, we cannot recommend this place at this price point.

This is one of the loveliest places to stay. Tranquil, beautiful, small and out of the way. It's an off the beaten track treasure! The hosts are the nicest people who spared no expense to make the rooms, linens and details perfect. Their offerings for breakfast are local, genuine and particularly delicious. The staff are friendly and discreet.||The location is great for day trips all over the surrounding area and one can do a walking circuit in the cooler hours of the day. Recently a pool was added to the property so lounging around and keeping cool is also possible.||Highly recommend at least 2 nights or more in the idyllic spot!
