Tenuta San Pietro, near Lucca, Tuscany - Explore & Book

"Tenuta San Pietro is everything a Tuscan hotel should be: intimate, with a mouthwateringly fantastic restaurant and homegrown wine, plus a terraced garden of flowering shrubs and tubs of roses, surrounded by 500 olive trees and 2000 vines, close to historic and cultural towns. Add a dash of modern design, a divine pool with long views of the Garfagnana mountains beyond, and you’ve got something a little bit special. Nestling in a hamlet in hills to the north of the gorgeous town of Lucca, it's a hidden gem, much like the region itself. This is Tuscany without the tourists, but you're still only 40-45 minutes from Pisa and Florence. We were struck by the peace, enhanced by beautiful birdsong and church bells. Tenuta San Pietro is owned by a Norwegian family, so the heavy fabrics and Baroque gilding found in so many Tuscan hotels have given way to a more minimalist, Scandinavian-influenced sensibility in this 10-roomed hotel. We loved the wooden floorboards, exposed original brickwork and design details like an iconic scarlet lip sofa in the reception. Food is a real highlight - despite only opening a few nights a week, the hotel’s restaurant draws diners from miles around and is regularly booked out in the summer months. As well as a restaurant, there’s a light-filled lounge and sociable terraces overlooking the olive tree-studded grounds and orchards. Highs Located in unspoiled Tuscan countryside, yet only a short drive from the lovely town of Lucca The food. The New York Times called this region the best in Italy, and the cuisine here is excellent Wine buffs will love exploring the excellent fattorie nearby on tasting tours Warm and attentive staff who make you feel right at home The view from the pool of the rolling Italian hills is exactly what you come here for Lows The restaurant is only open Thursday-Saturday for dinner, and the nearest alternatives are a drive away You ideally need a car and Sat Nav - it's not that easy to find It's an intimate hotel and sound travels between rooms Summer weekends can get booked up by weddings Décor is a little dated, but rooms are perfectly clean and comfortable" - Laila Ram

Tenuta Santo Pietro was absolutely FABULOUS. Bertina was awesome, we felt like family the minute we walked in the door. This is a quiet “hotel” that felt more like a full service bed and breakfast. The dinner was amazing and, although we sat at different tables, it felt like a Sunday family meal. I can’t say enough about the dessert other than the fact that I pretty much licked the plate clean. I strongly recommend trying the house wine and olive oil. WARNING, you will go home with multiple bottles of both. The room was large and the bed was very comfortable. This place was clearly renovated with comfort and convenience in mind. Although it is a short drive from Pienza it is well worth it.

What a lovely place in a beautiful part of the most beautiful country!! It was an amazing stay and so relaxing. A much needed break between big city visits. The food was so good - real fresh authentic food. Cooking class was fun and Bertina - what can I say! She is an unbelievable host who obviously loves what she does and wants every guest to have the best time. Mission accomplished - it was a very memorable stay and we will be back!!!

Our family had a charming stay at Tenuta Santa Pietro. The staff were so warm and friendly they made us feel like family. The house is beautifully renovated and furnished. The pool and property are meticulously kept. We recommend the four course tasting dinner on site. It was delicious! We hope to return!

This is a perfect location to wind down. We had a room which had bathroom on a lower floor and bedroom above, which was slightly inconvenient, so make a note of that when you book if that is not something you would enjoy. If you book this place, there is absolutely no reason for you to leave the villa. It’s calming with great views, pool, books and games for you to enjoy. They have delicious in house wines. If you want to take something home - their balsamic vinegar is one of the best I have tasted. The staff truly goes above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. Stay for their lunch and dinner. We had our best meals in Italy cooked in their kitchen with fresh ingredients.

Tenuta Santo Pietro is absolutely beautiful – the property is stunning, peaceful, and full of charm. The restaurant offers excellent quality dishes, and the wines and olive oils produced here are a real highlight that should not be missed. What made our experience truly outstanding, however, was the impeccable service. Bertina, the manager, together with her entire team, went above and beyond to make our stay special. Their kindness and professionalism made us feel genuinely welcomed. We would return in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Tuscany..

I literally cannot recommend Tenuta Santo Pietro more. The only regret on our vacation was that we didn’t stay here longer! It’s an incredible location between Pienza and Montepulciano. The grounds are beautiful, the pool is next level and the food is fantastic. But the hospitality is next level. I searched and searched for the perfect spot and if you’re doing the same, you can stop because you’ve found it.

Congratulations to TSP for creating such an inviting farmhouse/agricultural resort. This has the vibe of a B&B, with friendly staff, led by the indefatigable Bertina. My wife and I enjoyed 2 excellent breakfasts and one dinner there. The location, nearly midway between Pienza and Montepulciano, allows an easy drive to each of these beautiful, historical hilltop towns. The very well-maintained grounds are set amidst Tuscan splendor. This is a very relaxing place to stay.

We had the most amazing stay at Tenuta Santo Pietro in beautiful Toscana! From the moment we arrived, we felt like old friends coming home.||Bertina, the manager, is truly the heartbeat of this place. She’s warm, funny, and full of energy — literally skipping around even after a long day. She never forgets a thing and is always there to make sure every guest has everything they need (and plenty of laughs along the way). We don’t know when she sleeps or eats because she’s everywhere at once, creating such a fun and welcoming atmosphere. Spending time chatting with her was one of the highlights of our trip.||The rest of the staff is wonderful too. Teresa and Micaela were by our side the whole time, making sure we were comfortable and never hungry. They’re so thoughtful and kind — we already miss them!||The property is stunning: an old estate decorated in traditional rustic Italian style, surrounded by rolling hills. Their garden provides fresh veggies for homemade dishes (true garden-to-table). Everything we ate was outstanding — the pasta and ribollita soup were unforgettable.||And let’s talk about their olive oil and wine — they’re not just an extra, they’re part of the soul of Tenuta Santo Pietro. The olive oil, pressed from their own groves, is rich, fragrant, and simply the best we’ve ever had (we couldn’t leave without a bottle). The wine, made from their own grapes, is high quality, all natural, and so smooth we could enjoy plenty without ever getting a headache. Sitting with a glass while looking out over the hills felt like the true taste of Tuscany.||Our room was lovely, the bed super comfy, and the shower had the strongest water pressure we’ve ever experienced. We rented e-bikes through TSP and rode along Strada Querciassale — the views were breathtaking. The pool was a perfect spot to cool off on a hot day, always sparkling clean, and the whole property is beautifully maintained.||Tenuta Santo Pietro is one of those rare places where you feel pampered yet completely at home. Bertina and her team made our stay unforgettable — we can’t wait to come back!||~ Yulia I

Yelp
Tenuta Santo Pietro is a working farm located in Tuscan countryside, and features an outdoor swimming pool with views of Pienza, 5 km away. The rooms are located in a 13th-century farmhouse, and come with terracotta floors and wooden beams on the ceilings. There are 12 rooms in the boutique hotel. The location of the hotel is very special since it is located in between Pienza and Montepulciano with marvelous Chianti scenery. The Santo Pietro's well-tended gardens feature several patio areas, furnished with tables and chairs. The pool is surrounded by padded-teak deck chairs, tables, and parasols. The public areas of the hotel is very relaxing, the small pool area is also helpful to rest under the Tuscan sun... Most of the service people are very welcoming and friendly. The breakfast is not bad with variety of freshly baked cakes, croissants and tarts. The dinner that we had at its restaurant was perfect. We had true Tuscan food with fresh vegetables, delicious meat with perfect wine. There are many people who only came for lunch and dinner. The rooms are very clean, the towels are soft and the amenities such as soap, shampoo and body lotion are special Tuscanian products. However there are some negative issues with the rooms. First, the hotel faces a busy traffic road and it was very hard to sleep since it is impossible to open the windows because of the noise. Although the rooms were nicely decorated, there was not a mirror in the room and there is only one chair. Therefore there is not a place to put your staff in the room. The other problem was the coverage of the wifi. It is not possible to use it in the rooms and pool area. Although it was a bit pricey we had very nice time at Tenuta Santo Pietro.
