Tenuta San Pietro, near Lucca, Tuscany - Explore & Book

"Tenuta San Pietro is everything a Tuscan hotel should be: intimate, with a mouthwateringly fantastic restaurant and homegrown wine, plus a terraced garden of flowering shrubs and tubs of roses, surrounded by 500 olive trees and 2000 vines, close to historic and cultural towns. Add a dash of modern design, a divine pool with long views of the Garfagnana mountains beyond, and you’ve got something a little bit special. Nestling in a hamlet in hills to the north of the gorgeous town of Lucca, it's a hidden gem, much like the region itself. This is Tuscany without the tourists, but you're still only 40-45 minutes from Pisa and Florence. We were struck by the peace, enhanced by beautiful birdsong and church bells. Tenuta San Pietro is owned by a Norwegian family, so the heavy fabrics and Baroque gilding found in so many Tuscan hotels have given way to a more minimalist, Scandinavian-influenced sensibility in this 10-roomed hotel. We loved the wooden floorboards, exposed original brickwork and design details like an iconic scarlet lip sofa in the reception. Food is a real highlight - despite only opening a few nights a week, the hotel’s restaurant draws diners from miles around and is regularly booked out in the summer months. As well as a restaurant, there’s a light-filled lounge and sociable terraces overlooking the olive tree-studded grounds and orchards. Highs Located in unspoiled Tuscan countryside, yet only a short drive from the lovely town of Lucca The food. The New York Times called this region the best in Italy, and the cuisine here is excellent Wine buffs will love exploring the excellent fattorie nearby on tasting tours Warm and attentive staff who make you feel right at home The view from the pool of the rolling Italian hills is exactly what you come here for Lows The restaurant is only open Thursday-Saturday for dinner, and the nearest alternatives are a drive away You ideally need a car and Sat Nav - it's not that easy to find It's an intimate hotel and sound travels between rooms Summer weekends can get booked up by weddings Décor is a little dated, but rooms are perfectly clean and comfortable" - Laila Ram

This place feels like visiting the home of a family member! A gorgeous, relaxing and wonderful home with excellent food and comfortable rooms. My family and I had an amazing stay here and would love to come back! Bertina is a gifted hostess making everyone feel welcome and as if nothing is a problem. Very easy going and keeps the place running smoothly. Our cooking class was really fun for all ages (and delicious) and the Chef super sweet and patient. It was exceptionally hot while we visited so the pool was very welcome after a long day of touring the area. The ringer by the pool for drinks was just amazing! I can't say enough good things about this place. It's amazing!

This was my favorite stop on our Italy vacation. Beautiful and peaceful area, super friendly and accommodating staff, and immaculately clean and comfortable rooms. When you arrive you are greeted by Bertina, the heartbeat of TSP, anything you need she'll make it happen. The owner, Giuseppe, is great as well. He took us on a wine tour / tasting that was second to none. I highly recommend visiting!

This was our favorite place to stay on our vacation - it felt like home! The place was beautiful inside and out, the view was spectacular, and the welcome and warmth that Bertina gave was so lovely. We spent most of the day just on the property - it was so nice we didn’t want to leave! Would absolutely go back, especially with family.

My family of four had the most relaxing stay at Tenuta Santo Pietro in June. We received a warm welcome from Bertina and the staff upon our arrival. We enjoyed some much needed downtime after several busy days touring Venice and Florence, and this was the perfect setting to rest and recharge! Our rooms were comfortable, clean and very cool, which was much appreciated in the midst of the unexpected recent heat wave! The pool was a perfect retreat from the heat, and the peaceful on-site breakfasts and dinners were a welcomed break from the hustle and bustle of restaurants in the city! Thank you to the full team for your kindness and hospitality!

A very charming and authentic small hotel with beautiful grounds and relaxing pool. Bettina the host, Giuseppe the owner and the team were all very welcoming and attentive. Fantastic local cuisine and Pio II wine. A wander through the vineyard looking out at Pienza in the distance was wonderful. Great for exploring this part of Tuscany.

Bertina and the entire team at Santo Pietro excel at making you feel welcome and at home. They were so helpful in recommending ways to spend our days, and were so attentive the entire time. They make Santo Pietro a truly memorable stay. It's a nice property, with comfortable, quiet rooms, and a nice community feel between the dining room, lounge areas, and pool. The location is also great for exploring the area - Montepulciano and Pienza make great day trips within 20 minutes, and there's so much more even within an hour or so. We really loved our time here, and were sad to leave when it came time!

This place is so peaceful and the room was immaculate. It was the perfect weekend getaway for me and my husband. Breakfast was included with our rate. It is a continental breakfast with a few offerings…think croissants, some fruit, cereal, salad, and some cured meat. It is just a 5 minute drive to Pienza which is the cutest little city overlooking Val D’Orcia. During your stay, you have to have lunch or dinner there at least once. The food was so fresh and delicious.

This is the most beautiful property I’ve ever stayed. Just a wonderful experience with both the physical property and the service. Benita is an exceptional host. The food was delicious, our room was quaint and charming, and the property outside is gorgeous. My husband and I hope to be back someday.
