"This road-trip route zips in a figure of eight around Franciscan monasteries, Etruscan castles and medieval hamlets across Tuscany. Zoom down narrow streets watched over by coy Renaissance torsos, stopping off at cafés and wine bars to meet the locals—old ladies waving handkerchiefs, men sipping espressos at Formica tables. Outside Florence, hunt for truffles at Tenuta Torciano Winery, find restaurants hidden down driveways lined with cypress trees and explore walled cities behind sprawling vineyards and sun-kissed olive groves."

We had an unforgettable experience at Torciano! Our private cooking class with Dante was truly a highlight of our trip to Italy. From the hands-on cooking to the incredible lunch we prepared together, every moment was memorable. The wine tasting that followed was equally fantastic—every pairing was thoughtful and delicious. I can’t wait for our shipment from Torciano to arrive! Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting the region.

We had the lunch with the wine tasting…. An amazing experience. Great tasting of local wines. Great young super tuscans in the mix. Our Sommelier Fulvio took the time explain to us the wine… the notes to find and it was a great experience. In addition Michela was also super attentive… gave us a bit more wine (which only adds to the super experience) and was one of the best services I’ve had in a while!!! This will be a destination we repeat the next time we come back to Tuscany

Maybe the best experience in all of Italy. Matteo welcomed us and he quickly became one of our best friends, giving us a detailed tour of the entirety of the winery, he even spent time showing us how to talk to peacocks. Lorenzo gave us our tasting and not only taught us how to taste it properly but provided us with the rich history of the region and the vineyard itself. Can not recommend this place enough. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would.

We had the most amazing experience here. The wine, food, service and location was incredible. A special thank you to Klara and Melony who were our servers for the night. They truly made the night with the best service and even sat down to speak with us about life in general. The food was absolutely incredible and the wine, wow! We had the best night, thank you again to Klara who went above and beyond for us and Melony who took the time to teach us all about the wine and family history. We would highly recommend coming here for the wine tasting and just a lovely experience as well. Lots of love, Lewis & Coral xx

Google
We had a great wine tasting tour here! We got to try four different wines along with an assortment of cheese, meats, breads, and olive oils. Hosts were very kind and accommodated allergies, so I was able to have vegetables instead of cheese. Definitely recommend the wine tour, especially because the views of the vineyard are fantastic.

Google
Thank you to the Tenuta Torciano family for a wonderful door to door experience. We were greeted and escorted by Mateo as our driver and guide. It was a friendly and well paced drive. There were many fun surprises along the way. Alessandro the truffle hunter gave a great explanation of the process and his dogs were adorable. We had fun walking and the wine tasting was beyond our expectation. The food was exquisite and Alberto shared History and stories throughout. Thank you to all for a wonderful day!

We visited Tenuta Torciano as part of a tour where we had a wine tasting experience with lunch. The location and venue is just beautiful. The wine tasting/dining room beautiful and lined with oak barrels. We were greeted by Fulvio who was very friendly and kind. He explained the different wines for tastings as well as other products they have available. Fulvio was very professional and had great knowledge of the wines, explaining everything well. Michela took care of us with our meals. She was so lovely and kind, and our meals were delicious. It was a great experience to have had as part of our Tuscany experience.

We had an amazing time with our lunch and wine tasting with Lila and Marco. And a real highlight was our return driver Matteo who was so personable and took great care to get us back to our ship in time. The winery is beautiful, food great, wines fantastic and service from these three was outstanding!!

Yelp
Tenuta Torciano is a lovely winery located near San Gimignano in Tuscany, Italy. Owned by the Giachi family, there's a long history of creating fine wine and olive oil. The sprawling vineyard is stunning. We had a wonderful experience here. We showed up without a reservation and the staff couldn't be friendlier or more welcoming. We were offered a glass of wine as soon as we walked in and it was easy to make arrangements for a full tasting with charcuterie. Kiarra walked us to the tasting room where we were seated. She was a wonderful host and gave us insight into the different wines. Each wine was better than the last and we sampled olive oil and balsamic vinegar all made on premise. Ordering wine was easy too. They own a warehouse in Chicago so orders are shipped from there and transit time is much faster. It was impressive and we had a wonderful time.

Yelp
This was the lunch stop during our private tour of San Gimignano and Sienna. We were served a great lunch starting with delicious appetizers, then pasta and an entree, then dessert. All delicious and so fresh tasting. We also were provided 6 different tastings of their wine during dinner, and after dinner we tasted a few more while deciding which varieties to ship home. Fantastic service, great views, great selection of wines. It would be nice to be able to return soon.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience. We visited Tenuta Torciano as part of a wine tour while in Italy. It is family-owned with a wonderfully rich history that was worth learning about... it was incredible. From the moment we stepped onto the premises, it was fabulous. The views of the winery, the tasting area, etc. Everything was top notched and screamed history, family and class. I can't believe I forgot the host name. He was personable, funny and very relatable. He really explained the wines and made ordering and shipping back to the states very easy. This was the second of 2 places visited and it was a welcome change of comfort with a/c, clean rest rooms and great scenery. The tasting plates went well with the wines they had for tasting and more than enough to keep us full until dinner later that day. We also tried Extra-virgin Olive oil that was some of the best I've ever tasted. We ordered the truffled flavored oil and will be placing an order for more soon... also ordered 2 of the 3 wines we tried. The Rose' was really good. Everyone on the tour was talking about it. We received our order a few days after returning home as I was able to place the order and add a date for shipping. Really great service! If ever in Italy, it is a must!

Yelp
Excellent wine tasting and lunch Tenuta Torciano! Very informative walk through their history and selections of wines and oils. A generous lunch of meats, cheeses, oils, pasta and biscotti. One of the owners was our host and was very generous with his servings. The place has washrooms and cold a/c for the heat.

Yelp
What an absolutely STUNNING winery! The ambiance inside and outside were incredible. I wish we got married there!! I went here through a booked wine tour. This was our first stop and we were impressed. I don't normally drink white wines unless I'm eating something specific but the white wine we samples was delicious. The Chianti was delicious as well. We ended up ordering the white and red wine. They gave us a good plate of snacks to enjoy our wines with. Overall, I cannot wait to go back!

Yelp
At this point it's essentially blatant theft. It is now June 20th, and while the winery acknowledges they didn't send me two bottles from my shipment from a March order, that they certainly charged me for, I am STILL fighting for my refund, and most of the time even a response. Again, I have the email receipts for my back and forth (mostly me sending repeat follow ups with minimal response). It's a business grossly lacking integrity once you've left and they "got you" for your money. The wine school they offer in the states seems to be their biggest way for blatant theft with overcharges/missing items and no follow through based on others that have reached out to me from my initial review.

Yelp
One of the best days we have spent in Italy was today as we visited Tenuta this afternoon for a group wine tasting & "LIGHT LUNCH" HA on the light lunch. Absolutely gorgeous vineyard located in the hills, we were enter & our greeted by our host today Kiara the niece of the owner. She proceeds to take us to the large barrel tasting room, gets us set up with an introduction to their wines how the tasting will go. We will have 1 white 5 reds getting more robust as we go along and two dessert wines on the end. They will be matched with our food pairings. Wines themselves were honestly all very good, with my favorite being the Brunello. The dessert wines I could have done without but it is part of their pitch. The lunch was absolutely unbelievably good. First a antipasto platter was presented along with their in-house Balsamic vinegar to go on top. Top shelf cheese, bruschetta & meats were presented to pair with the white & light red. We moved on to a homemade vegetarian 9 vegetable soup that was hearty full of taste & the kicker was some nice house made Spicy olive oil on top YUM. We could have stopped there but we moved to more hearty reds and were presented with 'Grandmas Lasagna" Cheese lasagna topped with bolognese sauce. Roll me out of here as we are not done yet. Last but not least a small portion of Long stewed wild Board with pees & Potatoes. OK I'm done. LOL Of course they want you to buy their wines, olive oils, or vinegars and many did. With that said the place was 1st class, the wines exceptional & food as good as anything we had in Italy. A must visit!

Yelp
Me and my friends had so much fun here! Everyone was super nice and friendly, and the wine and food was amazing! The atmosphere was also so cute and fun

Yelp
My wife and I were looking for a wine shop late in the day. We stumbled upon this gorgeous experience. We were underdressed and did not have a reservation. We were not expecting to find such a fine establishment. The staff was excellent from the time they entered the property. Our Sommelier, Dino, was the most down-to-earth we've ever experienced at a winery. He walked us through the wine tasting and was so helpful in understanding the wine presented and the different pairings of food. He was kind and fun and full of life. We left there feeling good. The grounds are top-notch and should be included for a destination wedding location. What a beautiful place.

Yelp
Best wine tasting ever. Wow. Great service. Lots of wine. Definitely make a trip. No reservations and we stopped around 10:30am on a weekday. Fantastic.

Glenn G.

Yelp
We visited this winery and estate as part of a tour group and were happy to see that agritourism is helping sustain the economy. We started off by making pasta and got to keep our aprons. Then we moved to a what looked like a barrel storage room for lunch with wine pairings. Everything was delicious and we ended up having some wine, truffle oil and balsamic vinegar shipped to us. One standout was the brunello wine, which can also come from a nearby region in Italy. We had a little time to explore the vines but then had to hop on our bus. Definitely a memorable experience. FYI: They have a warehouse in Chicago, so when you want wine shipped to the U.S., it's already a shorter shipment.

Gohar K.

Yelp
During our time in Tuscany we visited a few wineries and this was one of them in San Gimignano. What a beautiful location. We took a wine tasting tour and this was the first stop. Our host was amazing, explaining everything about the wine making here and the local traditions. I didn't like the wine so much but did love their balsamic vinegar and ordered a few bottles. They do ship to the US Can't wait to make some fresh bread and enjoy the vinegar....

Vanessa O.

Yelp
Winery was part of our tour. From the entrance to the seating areas, the place was nicely decorated. Our guide, Antonio, was very knowledgable and entertaining. He kept us laughing the whole time. The lunch was great. The wine--some good ones on our tasting. I ordered some stuff to be shipped home. Definitely one of my favorite parts of the tour from Florence.

Neesh S.

Yelp
TRUFFLES!!! We found a last minute reservation for a truffle dinner experience and it was wonderful. Honestly, carve out half a day here if not more! Beautiful property and so many different experiences! The food was very good and we were very glad we found this absolute gem!

Sarah S.

Yelp
Wine tasting was a wonderful experience and the food that was paired up with it was fresh and flavorful. Also, had an amazing experience truffle hunting. Now I would say it's legitimate truffle hunting, this is farmed but they taught us everything there is to know about the process and the dogs. They genuinely seem to enjoy everyone and were extremely enthusiastic to share their culture and lifestyle. One thing we noticed though was a lot of American tourists, and these tourists came in miserable and with a bad attitude. That's the only part we didn't enjoy but that's not Tenuta Torciano fault!

Sherri T.

Yelp
Complete tourist trap! Stay as far away from this place as possible. The tours are average at best, mostly rushing you through to get you to buy as much wine as possible at the end. Buyer beware, their customer service is the absolute worst and non existent. We purchased the luxury wine set for £500. When we got home and opened the wine, both bottles were bad. When I reached out to their customer service, they told me they would get back to me with a resolution. Three days later, they emailed me to say that I must have stored it incorrectly and they are sorry they can't help me. Prior to this incident, I had booked their wine school here in the US. They were to come and do a demonstration of their wine for 20+ guests. When I told them that I would not move forward with the wine school, they finally decided that they would help me. They sent two more bottles of their luxury wine and BOTH of those bottles were bad. We open them as soon as we receive them so t storage of the wine would not come into play. I once again reached out to the winery, and they told me that they would get back to me with a resolution. They emailed me four days later to say there was nothing they could do to help me, and that they raise a glass to me. £500 and they did not resolve the issue. Also read other customer service issues that other people have had with this winery before you consider purchasing anything from them. There are so many other wineries in Tuscany that are far better, Spend your money and time elsewhere.

Yelp
After a visit to Siena our guide reserved the most wonderful wine tasting and lunch at this stunning vineyard. We were welcomed with a perfect rosé and led to an elegant dining room set up with about eight wine glasses per setting, so I knew we were in for a fun afternoon of wine tasting. Our host, the nephew of the owner, had the best personality and gave us wonderful descriptions of each wine, my favorite was a montepulciano and brunello. The food was delicious and included a Tuscan bean entree which I enjoyed. This was one of the top experiences from our time in Italy, and Tuscany - it was a treat to be in the serene countryside away from the hustle bustle of Florence's city center. While we bought several bottles of wine to ship to the U.S. it was very professional and not a cheesy heavy handed sales pitch. The company is in the business of selling wine and spreading their name so of course there's a commercial aspect, but it is such a classy place with the absolute nicest staff. My mother who has traveled to many high end wineries in California and Europe said it was the most elegant and classy experience she ever had at a vineyard, with the best wine tasting ever. Thank you for the most wonderful experience.

Mariana D.

Yelp
Visited the winery last month. Purchased a bottle of the truffle oil, which was delicious. We were told we could carry the oil on the plane. We were even given a special cardboard wine carrier. The oil was confiscated by airport security. I reached out to winery. I offered to buy 1 bottle and perhaps get second free. The best they would do is offer 5% off. Very disappointed.

Christian J.

Yelp
Profits over people. I had a catastrophic leg injury the week before our trip. We reached out immediately to cancel. They refused to refund us and had the audacity to write that look forward to seeing us in the future. Every reservation, airline, and lodging refunded without penalty due to my injury. Also, check out the 1-star reviews on TripAdvisor to see how they responded to the unhappy customers. Shame on them. I had several friends who had a wonderful experience there. They have since cancelled all wine orders and events. Caveat emptor.

Yelp
During my time in Tuscany I visited several wineries, and also enjoyed lunch and tastings at many as well. Tenuta Torciano stands out for having the warmest hospitality. I wish I could remember names, but everyone that we met went above and beyond to make it a really great experience. They took the time to walk us through all of the wine and courses, and you can tell they really take pride in their wine and food. There is a truffle oil that is made in house and they will literally force you to put it on certain courses because it makes the taste that much better. I've got to say that there are worse things to be forced to try in life. Besides great service, the food, wine and space also checked off all boxes. The property is gorgeous. Lots of fresh greenery and fountains. There are several different spaces to enjoy a tasting and lunch including a covered outdoor patio, a basement wine cellar and a dining room with florals hanging from the ceilings. We opted not to take a tour of the vinyards because it was such a hot day, but that is also included in your lunch + tasting package. The lunch and tasting is around 50 euro and it's an enormous amount of food and drink. Lunch starts out with a meat and cheese platter and a large piece of meaty lasagna. After that you think it'd be time for dessert, but you are also served a main course of pork loin and potatoes. Oh, and then there are some cookies for dessert. There were a ton of red and white wines plus a few dessert wines like champagne and port. If you are in the area it's easy to be overwhelmed with the amount of wineries you can visit. But for great food, lots of wine and stellar service this is an amazing option.

Sheri V.

Yelp
A wonderful experience turned HORRIBLE. In March 2024 we had an enjoyable afternoon of wine tasting and lunch at the historical family operated winery. We purchased wines and vinegars (2 couples) to be shipped home and were asked about possibly hosting a wine tasting school. Upon our return to the U.S., we received emails inquiring of our interest to host an event and we agreed; thinking it would be a great evening and afford us the opportunity to share our Tenuta Torciano experience with our friends. We set a date and made the necessary arrangements to host 22 guests and greatly anticipated this event. For the tasting we provided individual charcuterie plates for each guest and, following the "school", a complete dinner was served including homemade lasagna and tiramisu. Hosting an event such as this in our private home was costly and not a simple undertaking though we looked forward to the night with excitement. Preparation, organization of tableware, Italian linens, three wine glasses per guest, flowers, clean up, etc. was all done seamlessly to present these wines in an authentic and inviting atmosphere. Additionally, we were required to provide a hotel room for Gabriele. The wines, oil, and vinegar were sent to our home along with marketing materials and order forms to be provided to each guest. My husband perused the forms and noticed that the prices had increased since our visit and purchase in San Gimigiano in March; however, he did not inquire as he felt there must have been an unannounced price increase. The night of the event we all agreed that the sommelier, Gabriele Salvatori, was very informative, friendly, engaging, and represented the winery proudly. All of our guests thoroughly enjoyed the evening and placed orders, probably a sale for Tenuta Torciano in excess of $10,000. The wines were delivered promptly along with an order form and 10% discount voucher for any future orders. Interestingly (stunningly!) the order forms reflected the pricing of our March purchases and were the same prices online . . . a staggering 15% less than had been charged at our in-home event. We immediately reached out to Tenuta Torciano and anticipated a speedy reply with an acceptable explanation and price adjustment to all of our guests. We emailed again, and again, four times in all, and NEVER heard back. NOTHING! However, within days of our event we received an email from Pierluigi Giachi, CEO informing us of Gabriele's report of our beautiful and successful evening and he asked if we'd like to host again later in the year. Sadly, this has been embarrassing and extremely disappointing as our friends have inquired about the pricing difference and we can offer no explanation; only the truth: that the Proud Owners of a 13 generation, family owned and operated business have no respect for their customers and choose greed over customer service. Ironically, I've uncovered several reviews expressing the same poor after the sale service and lack of communication. Heed it to say, the previously satisfied 24 new customers will not be making any future purchases, will not be visiting the winery, and will spread the word to their friends, colleagues, and acquaintances.

Yelp
We visited Tenuta Torciano during a trip to Tuscany, and we have ordered their wine twice since coming home! The visit was incredible; as soon as we drove up to the vineyard, we could tell that this is a special place. The grounds are perfectly tended and inviting. We were greeted and brought into an enclosed patio with ample seating. The staff explained that this a family owned and operated business, and we interacted with family members that day. We tasted several amazing wines and ate various courses of lunch; all of it was delectable. Since coming home, we have ordered their wine and it ships free. Super fast shipping, I was surprised. It has become a special tradition now for my husband and I to open one their chiantis and enjoy a home cooked meal; I recently made a lasagna and we had the best evening enjoying our wine and food. We absolutely love this winery and would highly recommend a visit or even just ordering some of their wine!

Lisa E.

Yelp
Tenuta Toriano was a big treat on our girls trip to Italy. The family-owned winery is beautiful and the staff is kind, funny and very accommodating to Americans. We had a fantastic lunch in the cute wine cellar - they were generous with the wine and the food was amazing. We absolutely loved the lasagne and the charcuterie appetizer was also very generous and delicious. Lilo was a great host and he explained the wines and gave us background info on the winery, but also left us alone to simply enjoy our experience. They also arranged a trip for us to San Gimignano after lunch. Another Torciano cousin, Enrico picked us up at train station and drove us everywhere we had to go that day - he was so sweet and we talked and laughed with him all day. Everyone there was just so great. They will do all sorts of custom experiences for you - just ask for what you want. We had the best day ever there.

Dion C.

Yelp
DO NOT LET ANY OF THE FEW NEGATIVE reviews on here fool you. This 300+ year old family winery is the best value of a wine tasting experience that I've ever had. We arrived with a group of six people in mid January (low tourist season) without a reservation, but they took us in anyway without any hesitation. This family winery takes pride in what they do, and their entire service staff is mostly family and very welcoming. We got very lucky arriving at noon, the lunch crowd was just rolling in right after we did. Our 15th generation hostess & wine expert, Ida aka sunshine by family, was super friendly, super fun, very knowledgeable, and provided amazing service. I highly recommend you make a reservation for the private wine cellar dining experience. You won't regret going. We paid $25 euros per person, which included- appetizers, bread w/olive oil, 8 wine tastings, a delicious lasagna with truffle oil, and biscotti for dessert. A terrific value. Probably the best in Tuscany. Will visit again one day, with more time.

Kelly L.

Yelp
An absolute must on your trip to Tuscany! Owned by such a wonderful and funny family, this was one of the highlights of my trip. From the wine tasting to their delicious recipes from their great relatives, this entire experience was incredible. We also did the pasta making class which was so fun! We loved it so much we ordered a ton of wine and olive oil to ship home which they also made extremely easy, convenient, and fast. We can't wait to come back!

Lacey G.

Yelp
An incredible experience through and through. I went for a tasting and a "light lunch." We were fed a pretty big meal. No complaints here, and it was scrumptious. Probably the best lasagna I have ever had. I enjoyed every single wine that I tasted, and even shipped 3 bottles home. Visiting this winery was a true highlight of my recent trip to Italy. I learned a lot, and thoroughly enjoyed every bit of food and wine that I consumed. The employees were warm and welcoming. I would definitely return if I ever go back to Tuscany.

Stacy S.

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed lunch and wine tasting @ Tentuta Torciano. We were welcomed as soon as we parked and given a brief tour of the grounds before having lunch. They graciously accommodated a vegetarian meal request and paired the food with wines, oils and vinegar. Everyone we spoke with was polite, friendly and expressed excitement for our visit. The wines were delicious and prices were reasonable - I'm now a proud wine club member!

Real D.

Yelp
A concierge offered us a "family winery for wine tasting for dinner" (just outside of San Gimignano), which turned out to be Tenuta Torciano. It was mediocre wine and absolutely the worst food of our entire six week trip! You have to admit, it's pretty hard to find bad food in Italy. DO NOT spend your valuable vacation time or money there! There's way too mucus"Schtick" about how long the property has been I the family, all the family recipes from their Great great great great grandma, etc. I will say, the person who showed us around and gave us the wine tasting was a very nice person. As if the food wasn't bad enough, they poured oil on top of it which was incredibly gross. We were both sick that night and the next day. Yuk.

Randy P.

Yelp
We had lunch with wine. Lots of wine 10 different wines. This is my kind of lunch. What better way to tour the Tuscany area but with a driver and lots of wine. Food was incredible, flavor simple and light. The real highlight was the lasagna with white cream sauce and topped a truffle infused virgin olive oil. Our table hostess was fabulous and spoke great English.

Brad M.

Yelp
Took a large group of customers for lunch and wine tasting. We were greeted by the owners and learned about their wines from them directly. Wine and food were great, service was wonderful and setting was beautiful

Ali R.

Yelp
I had high expectations based on what I had read, but sadly I was disappointed. My girlfriend and I ordered our steaks rare and it came to out well done. When we told them that the steaks were cooked incorrectly, they said that that was how it was ordered and didn't appear to want to make it right. Also the wine selection for the wine tasting was subpar. This was a total waste of money!

Katie T.

Yelp
Giving 5 stars for the food. If you get the lunch tasting it is totally worth it for the food they served. Soooo much, so many dishes : meats cheeses bread, soup, lasagna, sooo much. The wine was also delicious we ordered 5 bottles. I was a tad disappointed in the view, the views were not like distant hills and vineyards as I hoped.

Brenna Y.

Yelp
I went with my friends in 2016 and although this review is *way* late, it's very much deserved! My six friends and I booked a private tour and tasting. We had a driver that took us around in a Mercedes van, told us about the Tuscan countryside, and took us to a place that was voted World's Best Gelato! The wine tasting and meal were seriously flawless. Even as a 21 year-old college student, I could recognize the high quality of wines, ingredients, care, and technique that went into our experience. Food was exquisite- the white lasagna was a DREAM. My friend and I shipped a case of wine back to WA :) The only reason I'm taking one star off is because our driver hounded us to leave reviews! He DM'd us multiple times and even months (years?) after we had taken the tour...it was too much.

Ken H.

Yelp
My friends and I had the BEST time here. I do have to state first that we were here as part of a Tuscan tour so I don't know if we had the "typical" experience. My friends and I had a private room with a table set for us with 8 wine glasses each. We had a plate of meats and cheeses, a soup, and lasagna along with 8 heavy pours of wine. Everything was delicious. Our host was funny and charming. He taught us about the different types of wines and how to taste wines. Would highly recommend.

Anita M.

Yelp
We arrived without a reservation and they graciously accommodated our party of five with a short tour and tasting. There is a small parking area in the front and then a locked doorway with an intercom to be let in. The staff all spoke English quite well and made the experience fun with many American references. They explained that they travel to the United States with their products for both large accounts as well as small private events. They grow grapes at multiple locations in Italy, providing a variety of wines. The paid tasting we had included at least seven wines (there was no lack of generous pours) as well as truffle oil and balsamic to taste with some salad, bread, and cheese. They also delivered the oil to be tasted on a cracker, which I would omit as it did not improve the tasting experience, so I did my best to taste without the crackers. It also seemed they were focused on selling their products and explaining their shipping options rather than just wanting to offer the tasting experience to us. Overall, it remained a memorable stop off on my trip.

Roberta A.

Yelp
We did a wine tasting back in 2016 and it was fantastic. We got to visit the wine cellars and then taste 3 or 4 types of wine and also aceto balsamico. All that accompanied by platters of meat, cheeses and a a pasta. It was a great experience, great value!

Krys J.

Yelp
This place was EXCEPTIONAL!! We ended up doing the truffle hunt and wine tasting with lunch and then we went back for the gelato making and wine tasting with dinner. Best day in Italy so far!!! The staff was amazing and made the day that much better!!! The wine was incredible, maybe even better the 2nd time around! The food was fabulous. We learned so much too! I would recommend Tenuta Torciano to anyone traveling through Italy. It is a must stop! Make sure to try the truffle oil and the 30 year old balsamic vinegar and the dessert wine!! OH, the dessert wine!!! JUST GO!! Hi Leo!!

Vicky C.

Yelp
Didn't have a reservation and the girl at the gate was so friendly. She told us where to park and she met us at our car with a golf cart and took us to a beautiful covered patio and a table set for a tasting. Meats and cheese platter included in price of tasting. All very reasonable and delicious.

Victoria M.

Yelp
My family and I visited the winery and we had an excellent experience from the welcome at the gate. The grapes were exceptional. We had a mini tour & we tasted a total of 10 wines! paired with a multi course dinner. It was an amazing and memorable experience and I would visit again. We felt very welcomed and would highly recommend!

Yelp
Great experience...wine was outstanding! Process to buy was easy. Value...well...perhaps a little pricey but well worth the visit.

Yelp
Our tour of Tuscany province was described to have a visit to two historic towns (San Gimignano and Volterra) and a Tuscan lunch at a local farmhouse as I recall. But our lunch, to our tour group's most pleasant surprise, turned out to be a wine tasting event at this local winery accompanied by a delicious 5 course lunch. This lunch was one of the most delightful and memorable meals I've ever had. When I later asked our local Tuscan guide (who was raised as a local farm girl) why the lunch wasn't better advertised, she said it just wasn't Tuscan style to over-sell and brag, but to just deliver the home-made hospitality "from the soul". Well, it worked for me. We were served 8 wines and given some history on local winemaking and the usual tutoring on how to swirl, smell, taste, and enjoy. Our lunch courses included an anti-pasta appetizer, two pastas, a chicken dish, and gelato served with balsamic vinegar (not being a vinegar fan, the combo was a nice touch that I've personally never tried before). Among other things, I learned that balsamic vinegar is actually a wine. I also learned that Tenuta Torciano's sole USA distributor is coincidentally in nearby Northbrook and I'll have to check out what can be had from there now that we've seen the actual source. As might be expected, our group was a little tipsy afterwards, but what a fantastic outing it was indeed.

Yelp
I have traveled here multiple times. I have been to many Napa vineyards as well others vineyards around the country. And Pierluigi is the best guy in the industry. The quality of the wine, olive and truffle oils, food, service and family oriented environment is amazing. A tremendous range of reds, whites, sparkling and dessert wines. The knowledge you get from visiting this winery is great, and everyone who works there is family and makes you feel like family. The best place for wine in the world!!!! I have ordered so many cases of wine as well as magnums and all the other items they make. They are reliable with delivery and I always receive my items in a timely manner.

Yelp
The winery is pretty and the drive around it is nice, but the food is bad and the wine is disappointing. A sadly disappointing experience.

Yelp
Had such an amazing experience here! Our guide was hilarious and so friendly. The food was out of this world, especially the homemade lasagna with their special truffle oil. Who wouldn't want a 9 glass wine tasting with a 3 course meal? Absolutely nothing to complain about, I have recommended it to many people.

Yelp
We enjoyed a wonderful experience at this winery today, but initially we were worried. Andy, who normally is dealing with the grapes, was the first employee to greet us. To say he was arrogant, condescending and made for an unpleasant start to our day was an understatement. Luckily the remainder of their staff was a delight. Andy needs to talk to grapes, not people. We signed up for the truffle hunting 1 hour experience with truffle hunter, his dogs and translater; a cooking class followed by wine tasting and yummy dinner (that we helped prepare). Mandero and his translater Guilia and the truffle-hunting dogs were delightful. Only suggestion would be to add some seating for the hour talk under the trees rather than have people stand the whole time. Walking in the trees and watching the dogs do their work was the best part! Don't need any special shoes for this. Next we moved on to Antonio who taught an amazing hands on class in our outdoor covered kitchen area. He engaged all of us, met us at our level of skill, had huge amounts of humor and helped us create a terrific meal ( bruschetta, pasta, pork, tiramisu). The wine flows freely! The service can be beat! Last we headed into a private room for a tasting matching our prepared meal. Donata was very well informed, pleasant and attentive. We have been tasting wine in multiple countries in hundreds of wineries. The wines were not our favorite, but enjoyed the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and white truffle oil and bought some of each. Would highly recommend this experience.

Yelp
Had the most amazing tasting experience ever here on our tour to San Gimignano along with a full course meal that left us wanting more. The wine here is excellent with a great array including Chianti, Chianti Clasico, Super Tuscans and more. We shipped some home along with their truffle oil and can't wait to order more again soon. Our experience was unforgettable to say the least; I've tasted at probably close to a hundred different wineries and tasting rooms in California and the US and nothing has come close to the time we enjoyed at Torciano. Highly recommended! Personal favorites of mine are the Chianti and Bartolomeo Toscano. Hope your experience exceeds mine - I have no doubt that it will.

Yelp
A stop at his winery was pretty much the highlight of my trip/life. I did a guided tour of Italy and this winery was one of the stops. Not only is it gorgeous and has a great product, but they are very well-equipped for large groups. We sat down to a beautiful plate of Italian meats, cheeses, vegetables, olive oil, balsamic, and bread. This was meant to pair with the various wines we tried, but basically served as a meal since it was all so plentiful. The guy that guided our tasting was informative, personable, and super cute. He really enhanced the experience! All of the wine was fabulous, as well as the oils and balsamic. We were able to order some stuff while in Italy and it was shipped home about four weeks later. When I think of my trip to Italy, this place is definitely on the highlight reel! Certainly worth a stop for any traveler.

Yelp
We were treated like familia! Truly, this was the stand out experience on our honeymoon. Since returning to the U.S. we have placed several orders. All wine has had expert care so we have not had one corked bottle with sour taste. Now that Italy is suffering from the virus outbreak, we are ordering a few more cases to show our friends at Tenuta Torciano that we are one world. :)

Yelp
Absolute slam dunk. I highly recommend this place if you are looking to visit a winery in the area. You should call in advance to set up a reservation. We sat down and were promptly given many different samples to try. Leo was our guide and told us everything we need to know about the wine. He was also very entertaining and it made for a great experience. The food was also amazing. They start you with some meats and cheeses. Then you get a vegetable soup which was delicious. Finally the star of the show is the homemade lasagna. It is made with a bechamel unlike the classic lasagna in america. This was hands down the best lasagna i have had. It is worth the price of admission! The lunch is concluded with some biscotti and dessert wine. Overall, the wine was on point, food was ridiculous, and our guide was great. You can also order wine at the end of the meal to send home. I would definitely come here if you are looking for a winery to go to.
