Guide to Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands

"The main airport on nearby Tortola that serves as the primary air gateway to the British Virgin Islands, receiving a daily American Airlines flight from Miami and multiple daily connections from San Juan and other regional hubs, from which travelers continue to Jost Van Dyke by ferry, water taxi, or private boat." - Carley Rojas Avila Carley Rojas Avila Carley Rojas Avila is a bilingual travel writer, editor, and content marketer. Front desk person was mumbly and when we asked her to repeat and speak louder, she spoke softer. The security line is terribly inefficient. Announcement speaker is loud and not clear. Seating is uncomfortable. But the thing that made me want to shoot myself is that they had a really annoying song playing on the speaker on REPEAT for the hour I was there. Think BVI version of “Old McDonald Had a Farm” for one hour. The security guy said the tech guy knows about the issue but doesn’t feel like doing anything to fix it. Overall very unpleasant.

To be honest, I couldn’t even give it 5 stars. This is how much stars I’d give to the things we had to do. Line for service- ⭐️⭐️ We waited about an hour and a half. No thanks. Security- ⭐️ This person named ##### was really rude. Do not recommend. Plane- ? We haven’t got on yet. Will update y’all. Update- 1 star. We had to get off the flight. Sue this greedy people.

I was passing through EIS on my way to the ferry terminal in Road Town. They charged me a fee to enter the country, and then charged me another fee to leave an hour later from the ferry terminal. I tried to get a taxi from the airport to Road Town (10min drive). The taxi stand manager told me it would be $40 for the taxi. I asked why so high and she told me it is standard rate, but when I asked to see the published rates, she refused (she had the price list in her hand and then hid it when I asked to see it). So I waited for other taxi customers (because the rates are higher for just one person, should be about $15 per person with multiple passengers), but when the van filled up with other passengers, she still told me it would be $40. I asked why still high, she said because I am traveling alone I don't get the multiple passenger rate. Honestly, every bit of my experience traveling in and through the BVI's just felt like I was not welcome there. Between the corrupt taxi association and the nickle and dime treatment of tourists, I will not likely be visiting the BVIs again. It is unfortunate, because several local business owners said they don't see that many USVI visitors anymore. I know a lot of people including myself, that would go to the BVIs more often, but not if they make us feel completely unwelcome.

This is the only and main point of entry at Dominica. Unfortunately isn't an official International Airport. Lot of facilities are still missing. The terminal from arrival to departure is simple and very humble. Dominica Government still to improve a lot for tourists. Covid protocols are in place for all passengers in transit or as final destination.

They tore our bags to SHREDS in security. 1st class passengers spending $10,000s in the local economy and you’re treated like a terrorist. Will never visit BVI again after this unsanctimonious final impression.

Great place! Recommend ear plugs for walking out from plane ...also intercoms on plames loud. Snacks and pretty ornaments, charms, shirts etc. for sale during day

The experience overall was good. It was not so crowded at the moment, in the process to get in the island you need to complete a document and the form was manual, I expected something electronic due to the technology factor but the employees clarified everything needed. It has some stores for souvenirs and food but once you pass security it only had one place to buy something to eat. At the moment of my visit was under construction and AC was no available but I don't know if something permanent.

Must be careful with your credit cards, someone cloned 2 of my credit cards on the airport, luckily amex and master card got in contact with me before they did more damage, they bought a plane ticket to Brazil but amex covered it, my recommendation is to have one of those new metal walets.
