"A College Town's Favorite Brewery While Atlanta has its fair share of craft breweries, Terrapin Brewing Company is unique to Athens, a college town an hour or so outside of the capital. Home to the University of Georgia and music legends like the B-52s and R.E.M., Terrapin has made a place for itself in the community, hosting live music and local events. As with most breweries, you can tour the facilities and sample the beers on offer. The beer has cult status and always has hilarious names, like Hopsecutioner and Tree Hugger. If your visit coincides with the release of seasonal beers, don't pass them up, particularly the Pumpkinfest, which is like fall in a glass. The bartenders are volunteers who love what they do, so be sure to show your appreciation in the form of a tip. Aside from the brewery, there is a large field adjacent to the building with its own outdoor bar, volleyball court, stage, Frisbee golf course and picnic tables. Terrapin is open for tours from Wednesdays to Saturdays from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Souvenir glasses, which come with 8 samples, will set you back $10 or $12 if you want a specialty glass."

Great atmosphere! Plenty of space. Great beer! The bar manager, Savannah "Terrapin" was very friendly and we enjoyed speaking with her and the 2 other ladies we interacted with. They were both fun to interact with. Great place and I'm not just saying that because my last name is Terrapin, but it is.

Google
Literally love. Pleasantly surprised. We have held off on visiting this brewery for whatever reason, but it sounds like we started frequenting at the perfect time. Big fan of the beer, weekly activities, and taco tent outside! The al pastor were to die for. It’s looking like we might become regulars. Kudos to whoever is revamping this spot.

Google
Solid brewery! Ample seating in a nice clean space. The staff is friendly and the restrooms are clean. The live music for tonight was great! There were only a few of us inside but they were a fun bunch. Good amount of parking out front and had no trouble finding a spot. I’m not sure where you'd park though if this place was packed. You walk right into the gift shop when you enter, and the taproom is directly to the left. Overall, a solid experience made more enjoyable by the clientele and music at the time.

Google
So we stopped on a whim. I am so happy we did. The tasting room employees and so happy to assist you in understanding and choosing a flavor for your personal pallet. I've been to at least 30 tasting rooms and this is in my top 3 now. Brew master was so responsive to feedback about his choices. We had a great time for a "whim" stop. Go here, tell them Keith sent you. Won't mean a damn thing other than someone told you to go here. It's worth it.

Google
Very cool place. Had great selection of beers. Heavy on the IPA’s and stouts very every one having an imperial version which I personally really liked. Also had a large separate swag area.

Google
Odd that on a Friday night, I was the only person in here other than two bartenders and the guy working the gift shop. But that meant that I could enjoy my beer and do some laptop stuff in peace. The seating area in Terrapin is large with plenty of tables, a bar area and counter seating around. Lots of different beers on tap that are brewed on site and they were tasty. I had two and enjoyed both before packing up and heading on. If you're looking for snacks, there's a snack machine by the restrooms. An inexpensive small bag of Cheez-Its went nicely with the beer. Terrapin lands somewhere between a micro and macro brewery. I've had their beers all about so it was nice to pick up a fridge magnet for my collection. I'd love them to resume the brewery tours because that's always a good time.

Google
Great beer options especially if you like hoppy beers and IPAs. The samples are half glass sized and you get six for the entry price per person ($12 + free glass) It was cool to see the brewery facilities. The tour itself is pretty laid back and not super structured.

Curtis Taylor Jr.

Google
We stopped here on our way home from our travels. Awesome beers, great seasonal selections. Their outdoor space made it great for my family (including our dog) to be able to spend time outside while I took the tour. They have a corn hole game, lots of picnic tables and a huge lawn for everyone.

Yelp
BEER ME UP TERRAPIN | terrapin beer is one of the first local craft beers i tried after I turned 21 so of course I had to visit the original brewery. Dog friendly inside! But the live music going on inside was a bit loud for my pup. Beers were solid - I love Luau Krunkles - which is even better on draft. They have quite a few IPAs on draft that I couldn't try them all. A fun spot to stop by at while brewery hopping in Athens!

Yelp
Unfortunately Terrapin was one of my "lost" brewery experiences in which much of my information was lost due to a destroyed phone. Good thing I located physical notes of these lost beer experiences as many breweries were deserving of getting a review. So I guess in essence these experiences weren't truly lost. The beer we had from Terrapin was the Funkray Sour Wheat, as it sounds it was sour and the wheat aspect at play for flavor features. I do love a good wheat beer and having this one go in a sour direction definitely puts a unique spin on things. Often times sours wind up tasting sugary but this one lives up to it's name as actually being sour. The breadiness that the wheat contributes to a beer is something I adored and that is here also making a very well balanced and intriguing beer!

Yelp
Great taproom! Loved the warm wooden atmosphere. Big tvs for the game. Employees seemed friendly, and were helpful as well! Beer was spot on as usual. The espresso martini ale was my favorite!!!

Yelp
12-Pack IPA Survival Kit - HOPSECUTION IPA | Recreation Ale | LUAU | CRYOPHONIC I loooooved the Luau IPA so much!!!! Having lived in Kauai for a while, it totally took me back with the tropical tastes of Passion Fruit, Orange & Guava. So good!!! Also loved tastes of the other one's - the Recreation Ale is nice & light, perfect for a post-Thanksgiving walk & the others were super flavorful & party. A fabulous variety pack! Love all the can art & the chalk art of the different beers at the brewery - can't wait to stop by when I find myself in Athens!

Yelp
Must visit in Athens. Such a cool place & concept. I usually buy the 6 tickets & let myself have either a taste test or a few of my trusty favorites. The staff has always been helpful & they're usually knowledgeable on the beers, depending on their preferences & experience. The gift shop has a lot of cool stuff & both the outdoor & indoor seating is spacious & cozy. It's very enjoyable to sit outside while you try out some of their brews or attend one of the events they have, like concerts & whatnot. Really cool place! I recommend looking into the Athens beer trail too!

Krista R.

Yelp
We are new to the area and went for the first time for their Wake N Bake off. We had a great time. The beer was awesome, the food the different restaurants came up with was amazing. And the people were so nice and helpful. I am currently in a wheelchair due to a broken ankle and one of the vendors helped me into and out of the ladies room (I couldn't get over the threshold). We bought some beer to take home and will be back soon. We live about an hour and a half away

Yelp
Great vibe and atmosphere. Great place to try different varieties of IPA. Service is excellent.

Yelp
Love how easy this brewery is to find, plenty of parking, large outdoor and indoor space, they're dog friendly, have a military discount, and so many options for beer! Plenty of tap options and to-go options, and the staff is so helpful. Plus the beer is an incredibly reasonable price. Wish I lived local to the area, I'd come here all the time!
google avatar

Yelp
The folks who worked the tap room tonight (11/26/2022) are the coolest people I've met since I've been here. I've been coming here for about 5 years and every time I'm home I make the trip to come here. Jacob was our favorite. He helped us pick the best flight for our taste and I cannot thank him enough. I love it here and left with some cool swag from the gift shop. I always recommend this place when a friend comes through town. If I could give 20+ stars I would. I love it here!!!!

Jim C.

Yelp
I was able to taste Terrapin Beer in the can recently. The taste was by a company promoter and I was "Allowed one inch of beer to determine the quality of Terrapin Beer" and if I would actually buy it. I found this insulting, especially when I asked for her to add more to the cup and was told "NO". I vote to avoid Terrapin Beer in the future.

Yelp
We went to Terrapin Beer Co for their Luau Night as we are on the quest to try all of Athens breweries (we just moved to Athens, GA). I will say this: their 6-6 oz pours plus free beer glass for $14 is a steal, and the staff was very friendly! Their beer is pretty good too (the tequila barrel-aged watermelon Gose and the luau beer -- the one being celebrated -- were my favorites), but I do think all the lesser knowns breweries in the area have superior beer. The space itself is very nice, EXCEPT I did have an issue with sitting outside. They have a LOT of open space, which is great, but the number of tables is scant, and the number of umbrellas is even more scant (roughly 10 or so tables, but only 5 umbrellas?) One guy and the lady he was with even had the gall to take 2 umbrellas, and when I, admittedly not under my breath, called it 'obnoxious,' he clearly overheard me and was not happy. It seems with how well Terrapin is doing, they can afford a tent of sorts for their outside seating area -- or at the very least, more tables where each of them could have at least 1 umbrella. Generally, pretty good, and will definitely come back, but also definitely not my top choice for Athens brewery.

Yelp
We couldn't come to Athens without a stop at Terrapin. Lucky we did because they were having an epic sale! Not only were we able to have a drink in their very nice tap room, but we went home with 2 12 packs for $24. If you have to be in Athens, make sure you stop by Terrapin

Ann H.

Yelp
I recently visited this brewery on a Saturday. Its decent enough and I like the beer. However I am not kid friendly and don't want to be around kids so when the people bringing their kids started to show up I left. I won't be back as it is not my thing to drink at a daycare. I don't take a 6 pack to playgrounds and drink for a reason soooo...
google avatar

Courtney S.

Yelp
Long time Terrapin drinker, first time brewery visitor. Loved this vibe. We came here on a sunny Sunday and expected more of a crowd. Much to our luck it was basically empty so my kids ran around the outside playing cornhole and we had the dog with us too. Their beer as usual was delicious. The staff was super friendly. The offer a great military discount if that applies to you. We bought beer to take home (not enough in my opinion!). We will definitely be back if were in the Athens area
google avatar

Jay S.

Yelp
Won't be going here to support events again!! If u don't want to be disappointed -call before u go. In spite of newspaper info from the brewery about an event on Saturday afternoon with a farmers market and various other things, we (and several other people / potential attendees and customers) were turned away when we arrived at the site. "Today we have a wedding party" they said !!! Without an apology for not informing the general public of their change in plans, they said " You could have checked our Facebook." Really? Who reads the newspaper about an event and then checks Facebook to see if it's been cancelled the next day ?? Who even "friends" a beer company on Facebook? Anyway -not a cool move Terrapin, IMHO
google avatar

Yelp
Hubby and I came here as part of his birthday celebration and I was blown away. We have been to many breweries but our experience at Terrapin has put it on my list of favorites! For $12 you receive one of their pint glasses to take home and six, 6 oz pours of your choice. They do a military discount which was awesome and made this amazing deal even better for me. If you do the math you get around 2.25 pints of beer plus the glass, making this the best priced brewery I have ever been to. Now for the beer... There wasn't a single beer that I tried that I didn't enjoy. My favorites were Cumulus Lupulus (an Imperial IPA) and Hi-5 (a California Style IPA). There was plenty of seating by the bar and a huge backyard area with additional seating. Terrapin would be a good choice to host a large get together or just come a chill with a few friends.

Yelp
Have visited Terrapin countless times over the years and always have a great time there! ATMOSPHERE Located beyond the outer loop, a little less than ten minutes from downtown and the UGA campus, Terrapin takes a little effort to get to and kind of sits on its own on Newton Bridge Road. However, this allows their outdoor space to be huge, and there's always plenty of parking (either in the front lot or down the road, just past the brewery). When you enter the brewery, you'll walk through their merchandise area up to the counter to choose your tasting option. Beyond this area is the tasting room, which is about the size of most other tasting rooms; a large bar stretches along one wall, there's a small stage for live performances in one corner, and there's seating throughout. Like many other breweries, they list the beers on tap on colorful chalkboards...but theirs are the best I've seen, by far ;) What really makes Terrapin shine is their outdoor space. Half asphalt/gravel, half grass, there's TONS of room to wander around and relax with friends and/or pets. They have a lot of picnic tables (some are covered, others are not), high tops to stand at, and smaller seating areas out in the grass. On weekends, there's usually a band and one or two food trucks. BEER Terrapin recently brought back their ticket option, which I highly recommend! $12 gets you a souvenir pint glass and six 6-oz pours. There is always a wide variety of beers on tap, so having the option to try a couple different brews is essential. You can't go wrong with their classic Rye Pale Ale, Hopsecutioner IPA, and Hi-5 IPA. They usually have a couple seasonal beers on tap as well (wasn't impressed with their T-Time berliner weisse this visit, but you can't win them all). Definitely the largest selection of any brewery in Athens. SERVICE I've visited a couple places where the bartenders are a little pretentious, especially if you're not exactly sure what you like. That's not the case here; everyone is friendly, quick to make recommendations, and they all seem like they really enjoy working there. Bottom Line: The location isn't ideal, but Terrapin is well worth the trip, both for the beer and the environment. Plus, their $12 tasting option is the best deal you'll find anywhere!
google avatar

Len L.

Yelp
I love Terrapin! It was early so no seated tastings, they do not open for that until 4pm on Wednesday. Bought some beer for home though, and they have the selection for take out that you want with brewery only specials. We stopped in to get some Gamma Ray because my sister asked me to look for it and yes we found it. Also, they will do crowlers for you to take home. Remember there is a limit of 288 ounces per day per person to go.
google avatar

Jeff P.

Yelp
Picked up a case of beer, easy call ahead ordering and friendly curbside pickup. The beer is awesome, that should already be common knowledge to you if you're making a visit.
google avatar

Allison M.

Yelp
If in Athens, this is a pretty solid brewery choice. They have a good number on tap and often provide good music which is lovely their space is great- room for indoor and outdoor fun. Went here the other night for a concert and it was nice. I have to be honest in that I don't love terrapins beers. The stouts (Moohoo) were pretty good but the others were a bit too hoppy with nothing unique to note. My main reason for lower stars is the change in tasting (they switched to annoying tiny cups. I get why, but it sucks. Had I known, I would have just bought a pint or two) and the staff were all confused and slow. Nobody knew what to do and they were all really weird about marking bracelets before they even took your order. The energy was odd and that made it less fun Either way, I know the new laws are a bit odd and take time. This place is a solid choice. Just wish it was more walkable.
google avatar

Stefanie K.

Yelp
This place has changed so much over the years but the great beer and good company remain the same. I went to college in Athens and had quite a few pale ales and Hopsecutioners here while spending time with friends. The tasting room has become a lot more hipster and crowded as craft beer gets more popular. However, dogs are still welcome and tours still showcase the brewing tanks and fermentation process. Peanut butter moo-hoo will always be my favorite! But some of their newer creations like walking dead beers are delicious too!
google avatar

Tyler M.

Yelp
Get the Groupon for the beer tastings! It's for six 6 oz pours but they're very generous with the pours, plus you keep the souvenir glass. If you're not feeling good when you leave, you're either an extreme alcoholic or you weren't doing it right. Friendly staff, nice shop, and plenty of indoor/outdoor seating. There were 16 beer choices the day I was here and I assume there are usually this many. If I lived closer I'd be here all the time.
google avatar

Estefania A.

Yelp
Great atmosphere!! Amazing beer deal!! We sampled almost all the beers. We loved their white chocolate beer. It was incredible!! They have a huge outdoor area and their pet friendly.
google avatar

Marissa L.

Yelp
Great date night! We purchased a Groupon and the experience exceeded the value of the Groupon! The check in process was simple and you get to keep your glass. We were welcome to the tasting room with live music. There is plenty of seating indoor and outdoor with some game options. The inside had some board game classics and outside had corn hole. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.
google avatar

Richard B.

Yelp
This place has a fantastic and comprehensive gift shop. The different drink packages offer different variety of cups and tokens for beers. The quality of the beer here is top notch. Great venue, great beer. Visit here the next time you come to Athens.
google avatar

Tristan S.

Yelp
Went for the Hop Harvest festival 2016 with proceeds going to to Dogwood Alliance, a nature preservation group. Packway Handle Band rocked the stage playing some excellent music, but that's pretty standard at Terrapin. Fresh hopped beer was flowing all afternoon accompanied by local vendors selling food and hand crafted goods. Stop on by for fun where everyone is your new friend
google avatar

Jill F.

Yelp
I took my boyfriend here because he loves Terrapin beer and can't get it when he's back home in Texas. Terrapin was basically the reason we stopped in Athens on our way from Charleston to my home in Knoxville. The tour was fine, but honestly we came for the beer. Of course, I forgot to wear closed-toed shoes and had to flip around in an onsite pair that was 4 sizes too big. As usual, the beer was awesome. (If you haven't had Terrapin beer you're really missing out.) You get tickets for 6oz pours as a part of the tour and those "6oz" are quite heavy handed. I only wish they'd do more with their beer garden. It's such a large space, but pretty plain. It's really just a field with a tent and Adirondack chairs. We'll definitely be back if we're ever near Athens again.
google avatar

Jeff B.

Yelp
Great brewery. We went on a Sunday afternoon and there were four other guests (perhaps because it was pre finals?). Terrific beers. Live music. Cool people to boot. First time ever going here (I'm from California and we don't have Terrapin). I really loved their seasonal moo hoo chiato. There were several others that were fantastic and none were bad. Seems like they've got a great thing going. Try it out!
google avatar

Zac G.

Yelp
I know the trendy thing in Athens right now is to go to Creature Comforts and claim it the best brewery in Athens and I think CC is great but after recently going to Terrapin for the first time in 4 years or so I have to say that it is the best brewery in the city. Remodeled interior, a more and varied selection of beers to choose from and a huge outdoor area that is dog friendly. You can't go wrong with either brewery mentioned above but for me if I have to choose one to go to as of now, my choice is Terrapin.
google avatar

Amy S.

Yelp
They have a great selection of beer! We got the taster. We liked a lot of the beers. Not a huge fan of the tree hugger but the IPAs were fantastic. My only complaint is the parking lot. There are not enough spots for the amount of people that like going to this brewery. Highly recommend though!
google avatar

Syreeta H.

Yelp
An extensive amount of beers to sample. The price was very reasonable. The ambiance was awesome. This is an excellent spot for a date, social gathering, or any excuse to get out. The staff was so awesome!!! I can't sing enough praises to this establishment. Oh did mention the live band and the football game playing.
google avatar

Samuel B.

Yelp
$12 for 6-6oz pours Holla yo!!! Watch out for the po-po 5.0 in the parking lot. Couple of cool ass beers from the Brewers Lab.....stick around gather up some free pint glasses that people leave behind.
google avatar

Wynter F.

Yelp
I love Terrapin for the space but I can't say that I love most of their beers which isn't a knock on them because I know how much most people love them. Personally, I am not much of a hoppy IPA person but they do have some beers that are less hoppy. Their liquid bliss even though it is a dark beer is pretty fantastic. I don't even like peanut butter but I will recommend that beer to everyone. Don't let the dark color scare you off, try it! You will not be disappointed. Their outdoor space though is what makes this place amazing. It is like a huge backyard where you can come and hang out with your friends while you drink beer. They have picnic tables and cornhole. Sometimes there is a food truck right by the fence so if you want food along with your drink they have it all set up for you. I hate that Athens isn't super close to me or I would be here quite often during the summer.
google avatar

Rick T.

Yelp
I enjoy visiting Terrapin as often as I can while in Athens,Ga during the summer months. You can opt for the 10.00 glass or the 12.00 commemorative glass that allows you 8 samples which they mark on your wristband. Sometimes there will be three spots where you can get your beer samples. Liquid Bliss is my new favorite which is a chocolate peanut butter porter that smells Devine and taste fantastic. While we were sampling we had the pleasure to listened to Tre Powell an awesome performer who has you groovin to the music. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to visit again. The only thing I would like to see is maybe doing a free post card station at the brewery like New Belgium does in Colorado and expand the merchandise to even more items that's really about it.
google avatar

Jose M.

Yelp
What a neat place to spend an afternoon! Went there on Saturday and they had live music, games outside, and, of course, beer. Because of odd liquor laws they can't sell you beer but they can sell you a tour and gift you beer (in the form of a glass and generous sample pours). I like the rye pale ale and the golden ale best, but I'm not an IPA guy. The suggestions I'd make to them would be to have more seating space in the back and more shade! On a summer day you're basically cooking outside, or standing room only inside.
google avatar

Alexandra A.

Yelp
For $12 you get 6, 6oz pours and you get to keep the glass. The staff was really helpful and friendly, and picked some great choices. They have a lot of really delicious sours and IPAs. Even for a person who may not love sours, there's definitely something interesting to try. The watermelon sour in particular is good if you want to try something new!
google avatar

Erin H.

Yelp
Awesome brewery. The flight was $10 for 8 samples which you can share. Tons of merch in their lobby/Shop area. Huge outdoor space with picnic tables and tents to keep it chill. There was a vendor event going on in the main tasting room while we were there so we couldn't check that out, but it didn't detract from the trip. Got to peek inside - tasting room was large as well. Lots of beers available for purchase plus Growlers and growler fills and diy 6 packs. Loved the white chocolate moo boo and the luau kunkles. We'll be back!
google avatar

Paula H.

Yelp
Amber and I decided to be brew bunnies today! Terrapin brew s as follows: Wake 'n Bake Cinnamon Roll, Vapricot, Liquid Lunch (chocolate peanut butter Porter w/Raspberry notes), Rye Pale Ale, Liquid Bliss, Walking Dead Blood Orange, Tiara Moo Hoo, Rye Cubed, too many beers not enough time!!! I'll take any "Wake 'n Bake" on tap Oh My!
google avatar

Geneva G.

Yelp
This was definitely worth the hassles of driving any where near Atlanta! Delicious beer, lots of choices. Definitely a must do again sometime.
google avatar

Annie L.

Yelp
I make it a weekly event to go to Terrapin brewery. I was first introduced to this place last year and to be honest, was just there again last Thursday. Now, mind you, I was NEVER a fan of beer, but after Terrapin...well, that changed completely. Could have been because of the tasty Sunray Wheat? Or perhaps because they give you a free glass and 8 tickets---all for $8? Whatever, my main point is you will leave feeling happy if not wonderful. Oh yeah...this place is dog friendly. You can bring your dog(s) and let them hang outside. Just be sure to bring a leash. P.S. I left my car overnight at Terrapin once. Came back the next morning to my relief that my car was STILL there along with several others. Cheers!
google avatar

Yelp
Fun night was had by all! I used a Groupon for four of us to enjoy a few brewskies! There was also a band playing that we were able to dance to! Made a great night out

Yelp
After living in Athens for the past 6 years, I was sad to move away from this hidden gem in the great town of Athens. While Terrapin is off the beaten path, it is certainly worth the drive out to visit. The beers are good, and the pours are usually generous (at least they are if you're tipping). This place used to be a very chill place, but in the past year or two they have greatly increased they're distribution, and with that they have developed quite a following. I would not recommend coming here on a weekend while UGA is in session (unless you're a student, of course) because it gets packed. On my last visit I found myself literally getting a fill and walking back to get in the line. By the time I got to the front again I would be ready for a refill. Overall, a nice place to Hang out with friends, bring your dog, or just enjoy some quality beer.

Yelp
Great brewery with a good tour, and worth the drive. We went on a beautiful summer Saturday afternoon, looking for cool refreshment, and we were not disappointed. The facility itself is impressive - large with plenty of room to expand, but well outfitted for the tour and crowds. The ample number of tables and chairs are nice because let's face it, beer drinking, especially the Rye Squared, can make it hard to stand. The tour was great, and definitely worthwhile - what the Sweetwater tour used to be before they hired only cute girls who don't bother to learn the actual process before giving the tour. Our guide took us through the whole process, from the silo to the bottling line. My only gripe was how he talked about the Rye Shortage Ale, only to tell us that they sold out weeks ago, and that's just being a beer-tease. The beer was delicious - particularly the Rye Squared. We were there early, so we practically had the place to ourselves to start, but quite a crowd did develop later in the afternoon. The jazz trio was a nice touch, and the volunteers in the gift shop were very amiable, but then again, most brewery volunteers are. And it's a the standard price - $8 for 8 4 oz pours and you keep the glass. Go now before they get too popular!

Yelp
I have no idea where to start my review so I will jump right in to say that this brewery experience was dang near perfect! From the moment we pulled into the parking lot until the last second, it was everything I wanted to experience and more! We drove over from Atlanta and arrived over an hour before the brewery opened because we weren't sure what to expect regarding traffic, but saw someone walk out and decided to see if they had opened early and just check it out. We were immediately greeted by Mike (if I recall correctly) a local sales rep who asked if he could help us. We explained that we were early and just wanted to grab a couple drinks. He found another employee to help us out and she informed us of the "weird" rules with GA breweries not being able to serve pints but having to do paid "tours" which include tickets for a certain amount of "samples" (which ended up being more like full pours). At first I was hesitant because I'm used to Ohio breweries serving pints, growlers, you name it. But in the end, it was well worth it and probably worked out monetarily in our favor. We actually ended up giving away some of our tickets because we couldn't drink any more beer there due to time constraints. So, beer tickets in hand (and our new Terrapin souvenir glass in tow) we walk into the brewery and were immediately greeted by 2 super friendly employees behind the bar. Both Stephan (I think that's spelled correctly) and Andrew were both attentive to our needs, chatted it up with us when they learned we were in town from Ohio and both went above and beyond to make sure all our questions were answered and all our needs were met. I've never met a more friendly bunch of people at a brewery than the ones we met at Terrapin! The indoor space was big and open and had cute little hanging strings of lights, a zig zag bar, tons of seating and pets are welcome inside as long as they are leashed. The outside area around back was GIANT! There were tons of picnic tables, a tent to keep you sheltered from the elements if needed, and some cornhole boards. I would love to go back when I have more time to sit and hang out with some friends and their pups here! Lastly, as we were about to leave we got a request from a friend to pick up extra snifter glasses for them and were texting back and forth while Maggie was checking us out. I felt very rude doing so because she had to wait on us to hear back and make our decisions in what all we were going to buy, but she assured us over and over that we were in no rush. She was super sweet and chatted with us while we waited. Literally every single person we met was great! And oh yeah, the beers were EXCELLENT. You know it was a phenomenal experience when you have written this lengthy of a review and almost forgot to even mention the beer, which is kind of the main point of a brewery. Kudos to the entire Terrapin team! We are on a 7 day road trip hitting up at least 10 more breweries and you have definitely set the bar high! Cheers!

Yelp
A friend told me I just had to check out Terrapin, and it was totally worth the drive to check this place out. For $12 you get a souvenir glass and six 6 oz pours of whichever selections they have on hand. The Hi-10 (Mango Habanero DIPA) and So Fresh & So Green were my two favorites here. Liquid Bliss and Maggies Farmhouse were pretty tasty as well. A few of their IPAs were just ok, but I fully admit that I am not an IPA person. I can't wait to try some of their other seasonal beers. We came on Saturday afternoon before it got too busy. The indoor space is a little on the small side, with a few tables and some places to stand, but the outdoor area is quite big. They have some games around and you can also do a brewery tour. They only have a small, expensive vending machine, so if you are hungry make sure you bring something with you. I will definitely be back to drink more tasty beers.

Yelp
This was a really cool tasting room, definitely a different vibe than a few others near it but that's what makes it awesome! We tried a few but my favorite was the wake n bake oatmeal stout! Workers are super friendly and they have the stickers out for you to peruse before you buy which is cool because a lot of breweries keep them behind the counter. Only thing I would change is that a few of the taps don't say what they are, just the name, but I'm sure if you asked one of the bartenders they would help you out to find one you'll like.

Yelp
Terrapin was a lot of fun! By far one of my favorite tours that I have ever been on. Everyone on staff is super friendly and knowledgable about all of the beers on tap and the distribution process. We get most of the ipas at home, but def check out the stouts as well. They are so good. Also, if you go on your birthday, or with in 7 days, you receive a special birthday glass and free tour. If you find yourself in Athens, you should absolutely check them out!
