Great vegetarian-friendly option in Khiva I visited Khiva on Christmas Eve and went out for dinner with my friend. We are both pure vegetarians, and as many travelers know, finding vegetarian food can be quite challenging, especially in Khiva, where there are no Indian or dedicated vegan restaurants. After some research, we found Terrassa Cafe & Restaurant, and it turned out to be a great choice. The vibe was really nice, and the view of Ichan Kala from the restaurant was amazing. When we asked for the menu, there was only one menu available, with vegetarian options marked. Since we don’t eat eggs or any kind of meat, we clearly explained this to the staff. They were understanding and suggested two pure vegetarian dishes: 1. Traditional Khiva vegetarian plov 2. Chalpak o Nomade We also ordered regular cappuccinos. The food was very tasty, well-prepared, and quite filling. We were completely satisfied with both the quality and the portion size. If you are visiting Khiva and looking for vegetarian food options, this place is definitely one of the best choices available. Highly recommended for vegetarians traveling here !!!

Restaurant with an amazing view of Itchan Kala. Had Pelmeni Soup and Laghman. Price is obviously higher than local joints outside the Walled City (as warned by our guide) but are reasonable and not like a rip-off or anything like that. Service was excellent. The meat dishes looked great too, but price asides, we were not really hungry...and meat would be too heavy....we are so attuned to cover great distances travelling from place to place and ever so often, skip lunch totally....ha

The restaurant is beautiful decorated, made us feel like we are in a 1,001 nights scene. We loved the ambiance with soft lighting. Service was top notch! Our server was young and good looking and super attentive. We ordered a salad appetizer which was ok but my Lagman noodles soup and my brother Skirt Steak were very good.

Came here for dinner in December. Obviously the terrace is too cold but you can still checkout the view while you eat inside. Plenty of vegetarian options and they are marked! Get the pomegranate tea. The views were stunning after sunset and when the monuments lit up!

Everything about this restaurant was better than expected. Food was outstanding. Beet salad was superb and a true winner, quite delicious dumplings and tender, perfectly cooked skewers. To top it off cheesecake pistachio dessert was amazing. Light and tasty. Recommended!

Stopped here at 5pm for a sundowner wine. They had a lot of reserved tables ready for the dinner service but as I said I was just staying for a quick drink they graciously accommodated me at a stunning balcony table overlooking the square. Had a glass of white wine and a coke. Service was great. From this vantage point I was also able to spot the watchtower hidden behind the ark and left to catch the sunset from the top of the tower (additional entry charge). This restaurant is very popular and seemed to tske bookings for several nights in advance. Great atmosphere right in the beating heart of historic Khiva.

I visited here twice during my trip at Khiva because the service was pretty good, the food tasted good, and the atmosphere inside the restaurant was nice. They also have restrooms available. On snowing days, many restaurants in this town close, but this one was still open, which was lucky for me.

We had both a dinner and lunch here during our 2 night stay in Khiva and both were very good. The combination of great views from the terrace on the top floor and great food make it an ideal place for a tourist to eat. The staff are young and a little inexperienced but make up for that with good English and the desire to help. The menu has a good selection of salads, soups, meat dishes, local noodles and dumplings. The salads were great and such good value so had the tomato and ‘Russian salad style’ on both occasions. We had the kebabs with side of French fries avid these were tasty and filling. For our dinner visit they provided blankets as it got really cold (end October). We probably should have eaten inside downstairs but the evening view is so lovely that we decided to stay in the terrace. There was a short dancing display too which was nice. As a said we went twice in 2 days and really enjoyed it - recommended.
