This is a tricky review to write, because there is nothing really wrong with this place, it's just not 'quite' what I was expecting. ||||I was booked in here by a company that I sometimes fly for (I'm a corporate jet pilot), who found the room on some or other hotel booking site. What they didn't realise (and neither did I until I arrived) is that this is not really a 'hotel' - at least not in the conventional sense. This is a retirement home which advertises vacant rooms on a hotel booking site. Yes, really. It's a retirement home. I'm not even joking. ||||Despite not being so young as I once was, I was still at least thirty years younger than anyone else who was staying there and so I didn't really need the 'Nurse Call' button that was on the bedside table or the fold out seat in the shower. ||||There IS a swimming pool although when I went to check it out, it was full of elderly ladies wearing shower caps, taking what appeared to be some kind of 'aquatic yoga' class.||||The fact that this is not a normal hotel is not really clear from the booking website and I rather think that it probably should be. That having been said, my room was very large, very clean and as you might expect, was very, very quiet. My tiny single bed was actually very comfortable and I got a good night's sleep. ||||This 'hotel' (and I use that description advisedly) is in a very central location, opposite the railway station and just a few minutes walk (for me, although not I suspect for most of the other residents) from the lake.||||If you want a quiet night in a large, clean, inexpensive (at least by Locarano standards) room, in a central location, this may well be ideal for you. Would I stay there again? Hmmm . . . maybe.
