The "Tesoro Escondido" is, what the name promises - a hidden treasure. The selling points of this hotel are its charme of being completely immersed in the surrounding nature, the amazing staff, which is always attentive and makes sure you will have the best of times, the delicious food, which was the best we had on the island(s), as well as the price-performance ratio, which is unbeatable. Also, if you love animals, both wild and domesticated, it´s the place to be - Río, the wild but tame Toucan visits frequently, sloths are to be found all around the accomodation, and you will probably be visited by one of the cats or the chubby dog (Brownie, aka dicke Kartoffel) during breakfast or even in your room.
We stayed in room 1, which is simple, but cozy and spacious enough for two people. It doesn´t have A/C, but with the provided fans we managed to stay cool and sleep like babies to the sound of the crashing waves (and the fan ;)). The shower is amazing and offers good water pressure and hot water, which is not taken for granted in many hotels here! Lovely to come back from a sweaty day in the jungle to. The location can be seen as both a pro and a con, as it is quite remote. By foot, everything is quite far, a taxi to town costs 15 USD, and the cheaper bus runs infrequently and a bit unreliably. However, if you plan for this, you´ll be fine!
All in all, we highly recommend this accomodation for lovers of nature and special accomodations, who don´t mind the remoteness or the feeling to be immersed in the jungle for their time here. 5 stars from us, looking forward to coming back already!
