I brought my twin 13-year old daughters for steak. They had not had porterhouse, so they each had the 23 ounce porterhouse, and I had the bone-in rib eye, all ordered medium rare, which on the menu is represented as warm red center. My rib eye was cooked perfectly and was delicious. Both porterhouses were cut inconsistently with the filet side cut thinner than the strip side and were both overcooked on that side as a result. The strip steak side was medium for one and medium well for the other. I didn't realize they were so cooked, or I would have sent at least one, maybe both, back for replacement. The daughter with the less-cooked steak ate hers; the other one ate about half. We ordered the vegetables for 2 of the sides - they consisted of a small bowl of broccoli and carrots. It's hard to determine how they cook them, because, although they were cooked to the correct doneness, they were not moist like one expects broccoli and carrots to be. We had steak fries, baked potato and sweet potato for the second side, and they were all very good. One daughter had the cheesecake for dessert, and she thought the strawberry topping was delicious, but the cheesecake itself was absolutely devoid of flavor. I ordered a glass of Cabernet without specifying. There were only 2 choices - Dark Horse and Josh. The one I got - apparently Dark Horse - for me was undrinkable. They were kind enough to replace it with a glass of Josh, which was acceptable, not great. At least I could drink it. They served a basket of hot rolls as soon as we sat down that came with whipped butter mixed with cinnamon - not my taste. It's nice that they were hot, but Better rolls with more flavor and regular unflavored butter would be better in my opinion.
The service was excellent. We called 45 minutes in advance and were seated as soon as we walked in at 2:30 Sunday afternoon. All the service staff were very courteous. punctual and attentive. There was no extended wait for anything, and there was no issue with replacing my wine. I'm pretty confident that if I were more alert and requested to replace any of the steaks that were overcooked, there would have been no issue. I wish I had, so I could include positive feedback about that in my review.
They've done a great job with the setup of the restaurant - large wood rafters and beams and a bunch - maybe 8 or 10 - of large screen TVs with sports events in the bar area. I thought the music in the restaurant area was a little loud, which made it hard to hear my girls, but others didn't seem to have an issue with it.
So, overall, I would recommend the restaurant for the steak with a caveat to be watchful that it's cooked how you like it. I would like to see a better assortment of vegetables - more greens - but others may not be as persnickety; and I'd like to see them steamed or cooked to retain the moisture. A better assortment of better quality desserts would also improve my rating. I polled the girls, and they assign a rating of 4; mine would be 3, so overall, we're a 4, but I think that's generous.
