Come for the steak, stay for the Salads, and keep the bread coming my way. Great food likened to Texas Roadhouse with better rolls. And for real the cinnamon rolls are delicious!

We drove 2,500 miles in two days to move our daughter into college, and Texas Rose Steakhouse was our first real meal in Canyon. After a long, emotional day of unloading, all we wanted was a steak and a beer. Wow—this place delivered. The food was excellent, the rolls (and cinnamon rolls) were out of this world, and the service was the best we’ve had in over 10 years. Our server went above and beyond. After learning we were new to town and leaving our oldest at college, he surprised us with a to-go box of rolls and cinnamon rolls for the long trip home—a gesture that meant so much in that moment. Thank you, Texas Rose, for such an incredible welcome to Canyon. We’ll be stopping in every time we come back to visit our kid.

Had the best chicken fried steak with a baked sweet potato and bacon wrapped asparagus. Honestly have had a lot of chicken fried steak but must say this was the best one yet! I tried the jalapeno bottle caps and really enjoyed them as an entree. Hot rolls are delicious and I had to get a box for the cinnamon roll. I was beat 😅

We were in town and very hungry. Texas Rose was next door so we gave it a try. Our server, Lexi, was amazing. She was attentive, gave suggestions and in general was the best server we have had in a long time. The food was wonderful, the rolls were WOW and we will be back when we are in Canyon.

Friendly Service, the chicken fried steak good size portions & flavor.are waitress very attentive to are table. I got to check out the Bar side next time. You should try this place. Don't think you'll be disappointed

We had such a GREAT experience here last night! The food was tasty, the rolls and cinnamon rolls were VERY tasty! We had a little car trouble and ended up hanging out here for a few hours up until they closed. I felt bad being there that long and late but they did not make me feel bad! They were so very friendly and kept checking on us all night long to make sure we were okay and comfortable! Ashley was our server and she was beyond wonderful and amazing! She and everyone else made our stay less stressful and enjoyable! She even made my two year old happy and excited to wait in one spot while we waited for our vehicle issue to resolve! I could not have asked for a better place or better people to see! We loved our experience! Thank you everyone!

Had an awesome green chile chicken fry and the rolls are extremely tasty. But the dad gum cinnamon rolls are worth the complimentary wait!!! We had 6 adults and two kids and the food was damn good!! I would definitely eat here many more times in the future. Food is awesome. Texas oil dust bbq seasoning and ribs. I know great food.

Awesome dining experience. One of the best chicken fried steak I have had. Topped with slices of green chilies!! Not to mention the great rolls and cinnamon rolls.

The food was DELICIOUS! They serve complimentary homemade & HOT fresh rolls from the oven. Angel was our server and she did an outstanding job considering there were about 30 of us in our party. The smoked prime rib that I ate was up with the best that I have ever eaten. Two sides were included with the entree that made the pricing reasonable. They don't take reservations, but if you have a very large group, call and ask to speak with the manager. We did and received a large private dining room. This is a must-have stop if you are hungry!

Mixed reviews here. The steak was very good, but had gristle. I got the complimentary roll, singular, but never got another, same with my drink. I couldn't get my waitress's attention after she sped by and dropped off my food. As this part of the restaurant was practically empty at the time, I'm sure she had pressing and urgent matters elsewhere. Would I go back? Sure! Hope springs eternal.

Had the ribeye and not top quality. Much more fat and grizzle than steak and it was way over salted and not cooked well at all. Just not good!

The restaurant was nearly half full but we were waiting 30 mins for just two burgers and fries to come up. The food was cold and super dry. Both of the burgers were $13 but even Big Mac has more taste and juice‍. Our server was always somewhere were we couldn't reach her. After we finished the food we were waiting for a long time to ask for a check until a different server came to check on us. We got check, left money on the table bc there was no point to wait for her to get the money. On my way to the car I saw her chitchatting with her coworker, walking around the restaurant

Yes. The food is good, but my favorite thing is that they stop by your table often to offer you hot, soft, yummy rolls. Then, at the end of your meal, they offer you fresh hot cinnamon rolls. Friendly service as well.

The only think that was really great was the baked potato. We didn't love the filet we also noticed they are using erasable pens to sign receipts . Uh no thanks we used our own pen to make sure the amount stays the same.

Nice place for a casual meal. Service was good - Robin was my bartender and server. Wedge salad was a great side dish for my steak. I had the large (12 oz) ribeye. I expected a thinker cut than what I got, but the flavor was great, and it was done as I requested (medium rare). Ample parking, good value, good service.

We are on the road and just happened to stop in here to eat Wow were we impressed first off the bring you to die for rolls with honey butter OMG Then we ordered the Texas tilapia with a creamy sauce over mashed potatoes it was delicious and to top it off they asked if we would like to take a cinnamon roll to go and it was on the house cute atmosphere and great service

We were on a recent road trip that included a stop in Canyon. Our hotel was right next door to Texas Rose (and the reviews looked good) so we decided to give it a try. Before even going in, we couldn't miss the wonderful smell of grilled meat. We were seated promptly in a large booth. There were so many great looking menu items that it was tough to choose. While we were looking at the menu, drinks were served and fresh, hot rolls with honey butter on the side were delivered. (More were offered later, too!) My husband decided on chicken fried steak (which came with mashed potatoes and a veggie) and I had the Boss Burger with fries. My husband enjoyed his CFS... and I was crazy about my burger, which was a wonderful melange of flavors that included bacon, a sweet BBQ sauce, a couple of fried jalapeños, and cheddar jack cheese. The burger was cooked to exactly the doneness I requested. Prices were very reasonable given the portion sizes. I ended up taking some of mine back to the hotel. (The cold burger leftover tasted great the next day, too!) We were also offered complimentary cinnamon rolls, so I took one with me. We were glad we went to dinner on the early side, as there were people waiting to be seated by the time we finished. Our server, Shauna, was fabulous. We wouldn't hesitate to return!

The steaks were delicious, the wedge side salad was large and well dressed, and the service was fantastic. The only quibbles that I have were: 1) the three medium sized Ribeye steaks were all slightly overcooked (not much, but the rare was closer to medium rare, the med rare steak was closer to medium, and the medium was closer to medium well) and 2) the steak knives were dull. Overall, I'd be happy to dine here again.

The food is great. This is what you want in a small town steakhouse. I eat here about 10 times a year when in the area on business. I actually book a hotel near by due to its proximity to Texas Rose.

We are full time rv-ing and were visiting the canyon and came here after. The food was absolutely incredible and our waitress was the sweetest. It was one of the best steaks I've ever had and the ranch was amazing. It is a very nice, country themed restaurant. Definitely recommend!

Burnt the sweet potatoe and the steak that was ordered came on a chipped plate. If a ceramic plate is chipped and the glaze not repaired it can harbor mold and bacteria growth that can contaminate the food no matter how much you wash it. These should be thrown away. Not worth the high price if they cant afford a 50 cent plate to replace one thats a health hazard and against the health code.

Omg. So I have never tried the green chile chicken fried steak. I tried it for the first time and that will have to be my go-to selection there when we return. Incredible. The portion was so generous I happily ate half for lunch the next day. The service was great, our waitress very attentive, friendly and gave great recommendations. Ambiance was fine, we sat in a booth with cow print seats and everyone seemed to enjoy their experience. They bring out very fresh rolls that are amazing too. My husband had the Boss Burger. They have mesquite smoked prime rib on Fri/Sat and we may want to slip in and I will at least have a bite if my husband orders it but I'm going to have a hard time ordering anything else!

I highly recommend the Rio Grande Ribeye! The seasoning is amazing! We would definitely eat here again. The hamburger steak needs so brown gravy. Over all good experience!

Food : I got the 16oz steak... delicious! I would know cause I eat a lot of steak! Service : they were patient with us when one of the members of our party went to a different restaurant on accident! All the food was served with great timing , and we got FREE cinnamon rolls! Ambiance : classic country decor ( deer mounted) , and tvs, but not too many! My family and I had a very nice evening , would recommend !

Great catfish!!! They have wonderful staff and the food is delicious. You'll leave full!

We enjoy eating here every once in a while. We would appreciate it if the menu showed the upcharge for items on the "sides" part of the menu. Another way to handle this would be for the waitstaff to notify you when you order - example: wedge salad has an extra charge of $1.00 and "the works" for the baked potato is an extra $2.99. Try the Jalapeño Bottle Caps ---they are great!

Awesome chicken fried steak and dinner rolls! The waitresses were very attentive and made our experience great!

Food was just OK. Ordered a 1/2 lb mushroom cheeseburger minus the bun with an upgrade to a wedge salad. Salad was covered in onions & swimming in the dressing. The burger was well done & dry. Hubby ordered the chicken fried steak. The gravy looked like it came from a can & the chicken was only fair. The best thing was the hot rolls & cinnamon butter...they were excellent.

Last night I ordered the center cut filet medium my husband ordered the same His was medium mine rare When nicole asked if it was ok I asked to have it cooked a little more After I had finished my baked potato and my husband had finished eating About 15 minutes they brought out my steak way over done so tough I couldn't chew it . Nicole didn't bring it out but another woman' did I was exhausted and we left Come on this is a steak house Really not that hard

The restaurant is pretty average for decor. The staff are really nice, bringing around the hot rolls before & during dinner, checking on us but not too much. The rolls are delicious! We each got the KC strip which was awesome, full of flavor. After dinner comes the complimentary cinnamon rolls! The one not so great were the cocktails. They were really good, just needed a little more vodka.

We were pleasantly surprised by the great steaks. Ribeye and filet were both cooked right and very flavorful. The restaurant was extremely busy and the servers were fast and friendly.

We were excited to see this restaurant directly next to our hotel (Best Western) and were told it had just opened a couple of weeks earlier. After a long day of motorcycling, it was nice to be able to walk 100 yards or less for dinner. They are set up with an open dining room area on one side and a fairly large bar area on the other. We opted to sit at the bar where we were quickly greeted by a very friendly server (Adrianne). My companion and I both ordered the Boss Burger, which turned out to be one half-pound of deliciousness. Applewood smoked bacon, BBQ sauce and melted cheddar jack cheese with a unique twist--a sliced in half, breaded jalapeños. With the rest of the burger trimmings, it made for quite a handful, so we decided to treat the breaded jalapeños as a side appetizer. It was very tasty! Well played, Texas Rose. We also each had the wedge salad which was big and well made. They have a guy who comes around with complimentary fresh baked rolls that are so freshly baked they almost burn your hand if you try and hold them right out of the pan. Super good rolls and it appears you can have as many as you want. They also have a complimentary cinnamon roll for desert which I think uses these rolls as well. The bar is full-service. I'm a bourbon old-fashioned guy and was pleased with their somewhat modest selection. Never a bad drink with Woodford Reserve and Knob Creek as options. They don't have a lot of experience with craft cocktails but the bartender made a very tasty KC old fashioned for me. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience at Texas Rose Steakhouse and would be happy to go back if we ever spend the night in Canyon, TX again.

We stayed the night in Canyon so that we could get a head start to Pablo Douro in the morning. Texas Rose Canyin was next door and had good reviews so we headed on over. We ate at the bar which is what we prefer when it's just the two of us. The service was spotty at first but the manager got our drink orders going and a young gentleman took care of us the rest of the time. The ambiance was more diner than steakhouse. The food was pretty basic. We split the ribeye, a baked potato and a salad. Nothing to write home about but it was by no means bad. We would probably try another place if we are in the area.

The waitress was very nice and the ambiance was pleasant and relaxing. The steak was not even o.k. I ordered it medium, when I cut into it as directed by the waitress it was deep red purple thru and thru. She took it back to the kitchen and it took 15 minutes or more to come back. Another woman from the kitchen brought my steak back. My husband had almost had finished his meal and I had finished my potato. I was amazed it was not medium it was charred, so tough I couldn't cut it. The waitress came back to check on me and could easily see I didn't eat it. But she just asked if we wanted deserts. I struggled with deciding to write this review. We were there October 19 2023. I reviewed them in hopes they would get things right in the kitchen.

The food is always great when we go! The service is always great as well! This review is just on the phone call I had. I called today in preparation for a future visit. I have a dairy and gluten allergy. So I instead of bombarding the server with questions is why I called. The hostess answered and I asked if they cooked a steak with butter. She said she would get me to a manager. So saved my other questions because I didn't want to overwhelm the hostess knowing that she most likely wouldn't know the answers. She didn't give me to a manager, she just asked several people in the kitchen. So when I asked about another side having butter in it, she spiked an attitude. I explained that I have an allergy is the only reason why I'm asking. So she does the same thing, asks people in the kitchen. And says yes it does have butter, very rude. I promise I don't have an allergy just to make life hard for you. It's so hard and very embarrassing to ask so many questions about the food I'm consuming. I'm only giving this review so the upper management knows how people calling in are being treated and so that other people with allergies, more severe than mine can be aware.

First and last time that I will ever be eating here. Visiting the area for the first time and decided to eat dinner here. The service was AWFUL! We were told that they do not take reservations on the weekend which wasn't a problem. We walk in (party of 2) and were told that it would be a 10-15 minute wait to be seated. A family of 4 came in after us and they were seated immediately. The staff at the front advised that it was because the booths sit 4-6 people and were reserved for bigger parties. Once they go to seat us we see 5 different booths with a party of 2. Very frustrating. Don't tell your patrons that they have to wait to be seated because the booths (tables open) are reserved for parties of 4-6 if that clearly isn't true. Didn't help that the front desk staff was rude. The appetizer came out pretty quickly but we had to flag our waitress down to remind her to bring us our drinks. All in all the food was alright but definitely not worth $60. The service really ruined the entire experience. I will never be visiting this establishment again.

First night in town we decided to have a date night and go here. Restaurant had a cute country vibe with art everywhere--even the booths had cow hide print! The music playlist was also perfect. We ordered the sampler appetizer plate and a couple of steaks. Sides weren't anything special, but food was overall good. The complimentary rolls were excellent and the staff was attentive and kind.

I was in from out of town and stopped at Texas Rose because it was near my hotel. Three words: chicken-fried steak!! I liked it so much, I ordered it again the next day. I'd avoid the fried catfish...get beef!!! I'm headed back to Canyon in November and I will be back!!!

The food was good, but the service terrible. Manager said rude things and flat out told us no-- not even with a reason like "we are out" when we asked for more bread.

Outstanding service! Our waitress was very attentive and kind. The rolls and the complimentary cinnamon rolls were so delicious! We had the fried catfish, and it was so crisp and tasty. Overall, it was a great dining experience and if we were going to be in town longer, we'd definitely return.

The rolls are to die for!!! Pace yourself because the steaks are fabulous! Nothing like the taste of home raise beef (Pampa, Texas I believe). Save room for the warm cinnamon rolls so you can truly wish you had worn stretchy pants!!!

The food was great and the service was awesome. We got the Jalapeno pepper skins, steak and shrimp and chicken fried steak. The steak was cooked perfectly. Oh and don't forget get the cinnamon rolls that come with the meal! Yum!!

We had a nice time, hence I do recommend this place. The chicken fried steak was a little disappointing, maybe we had our expectations too high, it was tough and not very flavorful. The catfish was very good and they bring you hot rolls all the time, which was great.

This place could be great. Subpar right now. They need help promoting and with "perks". Could be a GREAT place to watch the game. Multiple TVs and a full bar. Staff is friendly for the most part. I'm here at 1430 to watch college football and no one else is here. Wasted opportunity imo. Free rolls are great but I'd do something like peanuts or pretzels. Something that makes a customer thirsty. No specials to draw people in. Like I said. Could be a money maker but as of now I give it 5 out of 10 stars. Will adjust if they do. Stayed at the Best Western Nextdoor. So happy we went to Texan Rose. The Chicken Fried Steak was seriously out of this world, ordered with fried okra and steamed broccoli everything was amazing. We also ordered the Wedge Salad. It was so much food hubby and I shared it all. We felt like it was a real bargain. If you are in the area don't hesitate to stop you will not regret it.

Excellent restaurant! We had a party of 8 and EVERYONE loved their meal! The service was attentive and quick and the rolls- oh my, the rolls and the complimentary cinnamon rolls were worth the trip!! We'll be back and will recommend to others!!

Like most of the other reviews, we were staying at the hotel next door and decided to give this restaurant a try. We both got the chicken fried steak and it was great!

I got the mushroom Swiss burger and it's was amazing! It's a big upgrade from what it used to be!

Stop by after a meeting. The food was good and the service was also on the spot. The only thing that was leaning towards the negative side was they were very busy and service took a little longer than normal.

Decent food and good prices. Asked to sit at a booth and was told no, they're for larger parties. Then they proceeded to seat other couples in the empty booths. Rolls were great! My salad seemed pulled out of a freezer, lettuce was clear and brown. Santa Fe chicken should specify that it uses American cheese. Very unexpected to see processed sandwich cheese on such a meal. Once I took it off, the meal was great. Tea was perfect. The menu may suit the area just fine, we're just passing through.

Great service, Great food! Just what we needed for dinner after a long day. Steak was cooked perfectly, burgers were delicious and the kids chicken fingers were enough to satisfy even an adult-not the frozen "kid nugget" kind. Our server was attentive and accommodating. There's even cinnamon rolls for dessert Would recommend to anyone staying in Canyon!
