I stayed at THA City Loft a couple of years ago and had a nice experience, which is why I returned. Unfortunately, it’s clear the hotel hasn’t been properly maintained since that first visit. When I came back six weeks ago, the surface areas were clean, but long-term grime buildup told a different story—one of neglect and declining management standards.
On my most recent stay, I ended up switching rooms four times. The first switch was due to constant door-slamming noise, a side effect of the building’s layout. While common in many hotels, it was disruptive enough to prompt a move, though I don’t necessarily hold that against them. I was moved to the fifth floor, where I discovered a gigantic cockroach crawling across my headboard (yes, on the FIFTH floor...)
They moved me again to a room on the third floor with a broken air conditioner and a large, exposed gap between the wall and the floor—clearly a pest entry point. The room reeked of pesticide. Staff later confirmed that they spray regularly to try to control the roach problem.
I was moved once more to the room next door, which smelled slightly less toxic but still strongly enough to trigger breathing issues. They offered to move me again to yet another room on the same floor, but by then it was clear the entire hotel had a pest problem and the chemical treatment was routine. I decided to leave and find alternate accommodations.
I want to be clear: the front desk staff are kind, helpful people who tried their best within the limits of the situation. But the hotel itself is in serious decline. The combination of cockroach infestations and heavy pesticide use—without warning guests—is irresponsible. And because of Bangkok’s heat, it’s not possible to open windows or circulate air, meaning guests are effectively sealed inside a bug bomb.
I requested a refund for the three unused nights, but the off-site manager refused, ignoring multiple requests. I was forced to book a new hotel last-minute and pay elevated rates to salvage the rest of my trip.
To top it off, after this entire ordeal, I received an automated email from THA City Loft thanking me for staying and saying: “Your complete satisfaction is our goal. If there’s anything we could have done to make your stay more enjoyable, please let us know. We would kindly ask you to leave a review.”
So here’s your review.
