Extremely good and authentic Thai food. I've been to Thailand once 10 years ago, and the taste of the red curry here immediately dragged me into the delicious memories. Both the chicken satay and the beef in red curry was very tender. Price is premium, but worth it. Would highly recommend the red curry

I ordered the lunch set of 1 starter+1 main, which was reasonably priced. The pork rib was well cooked and very tasty. Not at all spicy for those who are not used to spicy. I had the beef with white fragrance jasmine rice. The beef is very tender and very nice. Very well cooked and very tasty. It came piping hot, right from the wok I supposed. A little spicy though for those who are not that adventurous. I recommend those who are looking for delicious Thai food to try out this restaurant. It's not expensive and it is certainly a delicious meal I enjoyed.

Google
Lovely place! Food was amazing, staff were kind and the restaurant had a very welcoming and calm vibe. Definitely my new favourite Thai restaurant in Edinburgh!

Needed a late bite too eat as we just arrived and hadn't eaten all day. Food tasted awesome, could have done with more meat in the dish and possibly less vegetables, was quiet when we were there but it was close to closing time. Service was very good as well

Google
Food is fantastic. We had Thai Fish Cakes as a starter and they were absolutely beautiful. Wife had a delicious pad Thai, whilst I had a Sea Bass with Mushrooms which is probably the best dish I've had this year. Ended with a black rice pudding which was equally beautiful. Service was magnificent and very attentive. Our food came out at an incredibly fast pace as well.

Google
Good ambience, great food and friendly service. This place gives us an excellent dining experience. So why 4 stars? The chicken satay was great, the salad on the plate was fresh to go with the starter. But I had full of water on the plate that socked the crispy satay chicken. By the time when I had my last satay water was dripping and soggy. Among the 3 pieces of satay, 3 Rd one was unacceptable. I felt the salad was not drained before they place on the plate. I have informed to the person served as well but his answer was intentionally vinigered water for flavour which is not acceptable for me. I personally felt for the money we pay we except more. Overall experience was good. They offer delivery as well. Alcohol free selection was not great.

Google
A great Thai restaurant with good food and calm atmosphere. I can't find much to fault. The food was delicious and they have traditional dishes. We really enjoyed the chicken pad thai. The service was efficient and on time, the staff are nice too. Overall, I think it deserves 5 stars for bringing and maintaining Thai cuisine in Edinburgh.

Good food, BUT too sweet. Waiter actually admitted the chef adds sugar to the cooking! We could not finish our meal, who on earth puts sugar into savoury dishes?

Yelp
I wondered in here by chance. It was really delicious. I had chicken cashew , jasmine rice, green tea and loved it. The waiter was professional and friendly. Food was quality, fresh, really yummy and well priced. Calming and nice atmosphere. I think it is a lovely neighborhood restaurant. Will definitely come back. :-)

Yelp
Although they had some lovely starters, I wasn't blown away by the meal. It was very standard Thai food, which is what you can expect for the most part. But the prices were substantial, myself and my 5 year old son somehow managed a bill over £30. I went here of a very quiet Saturday early evening, I think they had just opened for tea time. It was absolutely dead, I think there was myself and another couple in the entire restaurant. The service was very considerate and attentive I couldn't fault them for that. Although with only 2 tables filled how else could they be. The food was definitely fresh and plentiful. Although in comparison to some other Thai places I have been to in the city, not a scratch on them. Overall, it was just OK

Yelp
This is a loverly little Thai place, just off the Meadows in Edinburgh. I was starving the other night and in desperate search of food when I (happily) stumbled across this place. In a rush to fill my rumbling stomach, I boringly opted for a vegetable Thai Green Curry. It arrived so quickly and I could smell the fantastic aromas coming off the plate. The food looked really appealing and so I eagerly dove in to get started. That's when I saw it. Slimy, beige tofu lurking in amongst the vegetables. My heart sunk a little bit as this point. I hate tofu - always have and probably always will. It's just weird, to be honest, and not something I especially look forward to eating. That being said, I did try a piece, in the hope that I would magically be converted to a tofu-lover. No such luck. Now, I realise wholeheartedly that I cannot fault this place for serving me tofu that tasted like tofu - that would be crazy! I'm sure that in my desperation I completely missed the mention of it on the menu, so it was most likely my own fault, but I'm just putting it out there, to other tofu-haters: beware! If you don't like tofu, don't order tofu! :p That being said, once I had carefully separated the tofu from the rest of the dish (trying desperately not to be spotted by the staff and be coined as that annoying, picky customer that everyone hates) the meal was really good! Just the right amount of spicy and nice flavours to top it off. It was pretty much your standard nice Thai curry. No real wow-factor, but a very satisfying meal nonetheless. The atmosphere of the place is great too and the staff were really lovely! I'd definitely go back here. Maybe next time I'll simply avoid the tofu! :)

Yelp
I had a lovely time here, everything's very traditional and I had a spectacular Monkfish. Everything tasted fresh and authentic and it would've been a perfect place to take someone who had never tried Thai food before. It feels intimate rather than pokey. HOWEVER! This was the last time I'll let my coat be taken, I accidently left my mobile phone in the pocket. It was stolen. Not by the staff because they had far too little interest in the whole thing to point the guilty finger at them. But, it was stolen by some girl with sunken cheeks and a kappa tracksuit. You know how I know? Because she'd stolen from there before and me and 50 other witnesses had to go testify against her in court. What a load of time wasting nonsense without even an apology.

Yelp
The Thai Lemongrass is a family run restaurant and has a very authentic Thai feel to it. The staff wear traditional Thai clothing and the decor inside is very oriental. There is a wide range of Thai dishes on the menu, with a substantial vegetarian section. They offer Thai Banquets, which have a set menu with a wide range of dishes on offer, and for a two course meal it costs £20 per person, not including drinks or desert. I came here as a student with a friend and we were quite taken aback at the rather steep prices as we assumed that because the restaurant was in a student area, it would be relatively cheap. The meal itself was very tasty, I had the chicken in a red curry sauce and it was lovely and spicy, and I found the service attentive. I have not been back since purely because of the expensive nature of their menu but I would like to eat there again as the meal was very tasty, just maybe not at those prices.

Yelp
Swift and pleasant service, although being the only customers prior to 6pm on a cold and damp Tuesday night there wasn't much competition to slow things down. We only had tea and mains & both dishes and the sticky rice (which at least comes in the bowl and not a plastic bag withing it like as was the case at another Thai place earlier in the year) went down well. Overall a good dining experience.

Yelp
I went here on a Thursday evening on a date and I really enjoyed it. It was awfully quiet so I can't really comment on the atmosphere, otherwise I would have rated it a bit higher. The portions are mahoosive, especially the starters and I had prawn fishcakes then a prawn noodle dish and both were lovely - really fresh, filling and well-presented. My date and I had to stifle a laugh when his sea bass was brought out, it was complete with cripsy head and tail. Nothing like chomping at something that still has its face in tact. They even offered to box up the leftovers for him. A crispy fish head doesn't quite have the same appeal as cold leftover pizza of a morning. The staff were also great, really attentive without rushing us or being irritating. Random comment - I also really liked the cutlery. And the fish tank built into the wall above the door to the loos.

Yelp
I hate to leave a 2 star review, especially after dining here. Thai Lemongrass is your standard Thai food, with a price that's a little over the top. It was very busy the Thursday night I poped in, and seemed like many of the people there were enjoying the meal. I would have left a 3 star review, on the average basis, except for one problem. I ordered my food, and immediately a hot plate was brought for my food (within 30 seconds), my food followed in the next minute. Panang curry. There is no way that my food could have been made fresh to order in that time. Yes I know Panang is a standard of Thai (I have been to Thailand), but when I order food from a restaurant, and am paying slightly higher than I know I should, it makes one feel cheated to know that you're food was made on mass quantity. I spent more time waiting on my bill, than I did on waiting for my food. I hate to be so picky about something, but I would rather have enjoyed finished munching on the crackers (which they took away when my food arrived.)

Yelp
I'll admit that my only experience eating here was after an after work drinks session which involved students groping my bum. So, I maaaaaaaay have had a few too many to be able to properly comment on the quality of the food. That being said, I was starving and tipsy and in the kind of state where a kebab would have gone down like a Michelin starred meal, and I still will wasn't impressed with the food. When we arrived, the restaurant was packed and we were led to a small convenient waiting area and brought drinks to tide us over. This was a good touch. When we were seated, we decided to go for a fixed three course menu. I ordered prawns for my main and they were over cooked and rubbery, almost inedibly spicy, and not cleaned properly. I have been really really really anal about prawns being properly cleaned ever since I was about 10 and my brothers explained that when my mum was de-veining the prawns, she was removing the poop shoot. I am always always surprised and put off whenever I order prawns in a restaurant and they've not taken the time to do this, and I end up with gritty prawn poo in my dish. Ok I know I'm kind of extreme with this, but, well, ew. I think that, expecially for the cost of the food here, this is not a good representation of just how brilliant Thai food can be.

Yelp
A great place to cut your teeth if you've never tried Thai before (although I can't imagine many people not having tried something). This place seems to trying to sway you towards a buffet rather than giving you things straight off the menu. My waitress seemed very adamant that we give that a try, almost like her life depended on it. I understood as soon as I got the bill, £21 a head. The buffet was good, but I certainly didn't eat £21 worth.

Yelp
I walk past the Thai Lemongrass restaurant in Bruntsfield quite a lot and although I am a big fan of Thai food, I had never actually had a meal there. My Edinburgh Thai restaurant of choice is the Thai Orchid on Johnston Terrace and it's so good that I've never needed to get my fix from anywhere else. I thought I should give this place a chance though, just in case I was missing out on something. The restaurant is nicely lit and tastefully decorated, I'd describe it as understated Eastern: the walls are a gold colour and there's some bamboo and a tasteful Buddha. These are nice surroundings in which to have a meal, but there are no discerning features to speak of. The service was very professional, I wouldn't describe it as friendly, but it was certainly efficient. The food was brought out in a timely manner and there was always a waiter on hand to replenish drinks and clear away plates. The food itself was nice enough, but there was nothing that particularly stood out and I was intensely disappointed by the lack of Som Tam on the menu (this should be an obligatory item in every Thai restaurant). The real shock of the evening came when we were presented with the bill - £70! This seemed to be a little steep for dinner for two with one bottle of wine, our meal was nice, but I would normally expect a bit more for that sort of price.

Yelp
The food is very good, the prices are reasonable. However, the service is not too nice and doesn't have much time to take an order. This made me feel quiet uncomfortable. And one big minus: The portions are pretty small, so I was still hungry after I left. I would recommend this restaurant if you really love Thai food and are not too hungry.

Yelp
Yum!!! This place serves up reliably delicious authentic Thai food for a decent price with quality service. It is fast becoming my favourite restaurant. The staff are looking to please (perhaps a little too keen to take your order?) but not invasive or overbearing in their presence. They are very friendly, and are happy to bring an extra plate of prawn-crackers while you chat away with your fellow diners or mull over the menu. As mentioned in my opening line, the food is delicious! I've sampled a reasonable spread in the menu and have not yet been disappointed. Very tasty, but not too salty or over seasoned. yum! The wine list is good, but only one wine of each colour comes by the glass. Dinner for two, complete with bottle of wine, shared starter, two mains and two bowls of rice for approx £45.

Yelp
Though we enjoyed the food, ambience and service at the restaurant, I was unfortunate enough to have ordered a main course (prawns/scallops) that gave me food poison after the dinner at Thai Lemongrass. I went there with some friends who all had other main courses different from mine (starters etc. was the same). Within two hours I got very sick with continuous vomiting and diarrhoea for 9 hours. Due to my bad condition we were unable to make our flight home the next morning and instead had to go to the hospital to see a doctor. When we went back to the restaurant to make them aware of the problem they denied their involvement and that the prawns/scallops had been bad even though we shoved them the note from the doctor stating I had had food poisoning. Instead they claimed I was not used to eating food prepared with red curry or was allergic to it - though we told them we eat Thai, Indian and Vietnamese food on a regular basis and even cook with lots of spices ourself. I do not want to see others get food poisoning and as the restaurant refuses to admit and correct their mistake, I feel this is the only way to prevent people from getting sick.

Yelp
Thai Lemongrass is where my flatmate and I go for a very special treat. This is partly because the staff care for you like you're some sort of extra-special royalty, and partly because the food is just so good. I first went to 'Lemongrass when I was freshly back from having spent the Summer in Vietnam and Thailand, and was missing the cuisine badly, and this place was still impressive! You know you're onto a good thing when the food tastes as good as it does it its place of origin. It's a really beautiful place, too, with a real sense of the famous Thai hospitality, and the bar is very well stocked. Great for dates or indulgent occasions.

Yelp
Thai Lemongrass is a place to go when you don't want to be disappointed. From the moment I walked into the restaurant, the staff were great. The never let my water or wine glass go empty. The food was excellent. One thing though, the food is a bit on the spicy side. I have eaten a lot of Thai food in my days, and this was still a bit spicy for me. But, even with all the spice, I still loved it.

Qype User (vaness…)

Yelp
A great thai restaurant that you can can always get a table in as it's a bit further out of town. The staff have been there forever and you are always made to feel welcome. The food is great, it tastes as though there is a real thai chef in the kitchen rather than a paid by the hour grumpy chef! The wine list is also really good and very reasonable.

Qype User (the-or…)

Yelp
Great food. A bit pricey but the vegetarian options are cheaper and i didn't feel like i was 'missing out' by not having meat in my dish. The Green curry is amazing, the sauce is full of flavour and the consistancy is perfect. They have a £6 corkage charge which is far too high (i think). However, because we drank all of our wine we had some from their list The French Pinot Noir, which i would highy recommend if you like soft reds. The wine list is not too pricey, extensive and impressive. Good service, nice people.

Yelp
This is my favourite restaurant in Edinburgh. The staff are so friendly and welcoming but never fuss over you. The food is to die for- certainly my last meal would be the chicken satay followed by the prawn pad Thai, washed down with Sancerre wine!! The price is, I would say, mid range. I've been going to this fantastic wee eaterie for years. I hope it never closes, a golden treasure of Edinburgh

Qype User (vr22…)

Yelp
The Thai Lemongrass is one of my old favourites. The staff know me and my boyfriend by now and are always welcoming and genuinely friendly. The food is fantastic and the best Thai in Edinburgh in my opinion. It's a great location, too, if you're starting a night out, being close to Bruntsfield or Old Town. If you don't want to sit down (and sometimes their seating can seem a bit cramped if it's full) the take away is just as good although the menu is not as extensive. Thinking about their Pad Thai right now!

Qype User (WeeFle…)

Yelp
Tasty tasty tasty! Nice clean looking restaurant and friendly staff. I love the Thai spices and these guys have plenty! I did find it a tad pricey though as a side dish of noodles is £3.95 and my main of just 4 prawns (with nothing else no noodles or rice or any veg etc) was £13.95. I would go more often but can't afford it!!

Qype User (musebl…)

Yelp
OK for some It's with some sadness that I write this because the first time I went there I really did like it (although thought it was pricey). Today we went to give the lunchtime deal a go (thought this would be perfect as we both knew we liked it and figured hey, the same but cheaper!) After a few awkward moments of scanning the set lunch deal menu I realised there were no vegetarian options included in the list. When the guy came over to take our order I asked if there were any other options and was told that I needed to order from the main menu. As a result my main dish alone (rice not included) cost more than my boyfriend's starter, main (with rice) and ice cream put together. Well I decided not to make a fuss there (perhaps I should) so I just went and ordered a red curry. Bit of waiting over and a green curry arrives. Tasty, but not what I ordered (admittedly there are only two vegetarian main course options oyster sauce isn't vegetarian although they think it is so it would have to be one or the other!) In short: expensive and if you're a veggie don't even bother! Go to Thai Orchid in stead (cheaper, more choice and lo! veggie options on the set lunch menu!)

Qype User (karin_…)

Yelp
Thai Lemongrass is a lovely restaurant with cosy decor (a great place to escape to on a cold winter's night). The menu has a good choice and all the food is freshly prepared. I've found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. For example, the last time I went I ordered a curry that was far too spicy for my poor taste buds. The staff saw I was struggling and cooled me down with glasses of milk and by adding more coconut milk to my curry. It was much appreciated, especially since it was entirely my fault. In all this is a lovely wee place which is great for a weekend meal out, away from the crowds in some of the bar/restaurants in the area.

Qype User (LMbuil…)

Yelp
Brilliant food at great prices, very nice staff. We have been going for years, if you haven't been, it's well worth a visit! Remember to say 'sawadee' it means how are you, I think!
